"Very well..." The elves spotted a dark shady set of travelers in the distance.

42 already counted. The party prepared themselves. Not another attack?!

When the travelers appraoched it seemed like there were more or less 400. A number far larger than anticipated. Some in the group seemed to notice how there was no one really paying attention to them or to any roads. Others proceeded to hold themselves back or hide in the charts.

"Greetings, travelers. May i speak to your leader?"

Sargom stepped forward. "Greetings. I'm the leader. Sargom." Her confidence was shining again.

"Very well. My name is Kob. I'm of the hunter clan. This is my family. We are moving north, as the sky had turned black and lead us up to the hunting area's. The cities we find are usually kind, though some met another end. Is there anything we might help you with?"

"Yes, Kob, there's this problem we've encountered, you see..."

The conversation continued for quite some time

"And ultimately, that's how we got here. But going further east across this road past the desert would lead us to the pillar palace, you said?"

"Yes. From there, the corruption grows thick. It will not take more than some simple traveling to find out what's going on."

With this new sense of direction, there only rested the oppertunity to build up the wagon with some of the tools the hunters of Kob carried with them.
The talk of friendship and adventure strengthened most of the other travelers. With moral nearly completely restored again, the journey seemed to be a bit less a race against the grave.

Mildor remained silent throughout the exchange, taking note how some of these newcomers were hiding, and just taking in the sheer number of them.. Oh dear. Giving a low sigh, he lightly rubbed his forehead and would look about at the remaining caravan that had survived the calamity. He took notice of the elves as they seemed wary, and lifted a hand to soothe them. "Just keep watch, and be alert. We never know when another attack from the beasts of the mountain can occur." They would nod and would begin to keep a careful watch.

Aegnith stood by her lonesome to the side, watching the exchange quietly, her blonde hair gently blowing in the breeze that had begun to build and blow around them. Giving a low sigh, she'd turn her eyes to the mountain, feeling it's presence deep within her core. It frazzled her, looking at it.

Aegnith could even hear faint voices, moaning in their pain. "Please... we can't take it anyore..."
The silent darkness was broken when one of the hunter elves sounded a horn. It had marked their time to pass on. A few firm handshakes and one chopped down tree later, the party was on their own again. Ready to take on the world, they stepped forward and played games with the children among them, that had been seated quitely the whole trip. Naturally, it resulted in lighthearted playing with an exhausting amount of movement.

4 hours had not passed yet since the departure of the hunters of Kob and the cycling of the cart wheels was already being tested. Sargom would rally the party and check to see if anyone had lost their belongings along the way. The children protested their departure as they were having fun and had lost most their toys in the woods. Many of them had simply forgotten them in places they had hid before.
Kor comforted the children, saying he would find 'all those' that were lost. A short chant of great joy resounded.

Sargom on the other hand, proceeded to draw out parts of the map they had been to and write down parts of the languages used in the south. the documenting of these findings would find usefull to at least a handfull of people that were way-farers. Openly writing down someone's language without their consent might not have been thought of as legal, but it sure did bring about a lot of information, she could proudly present. Perhaps she'd recieve a notice of how she'd made mistakes, perhaps some would call such knowledge trivial. But ultimately language barriers had sepereted the races for far too long. Whatever the case might be, she'd at the very least, be in a position in which her gathering of knowledge mattered, was proven and might provide her with a more certain future than the childrens life her parents had given her.

The children roamed with Kor, leading him into the dense woods. One of the children lead him up a tree, another underneath a rock but ultimately the deciding factors were not the amount of skill required to hide in such locations, rather how well a child fit into such cracks, splits and plants. An ungoral plant was such a type. Kor saw its beauty grow on trees, its bark covering the floor and even some on children carrying its branches. Though they would probably just be carrying it with them for a few days. Branches alone would die rather quickly if they weren't planted in rich soils.

Ambient sounds would fill the air as Felnor waited impatiently for Kor to return. He did not like the one that would nearly cost him his sister. He carried no intrest in his survival, but even more death would not benefit himself in his quest for being re-united. "Taking such a lengthy trip through dangerous woods with children that would take precious hours.. how irresponsable!"
The rest of the time he was presented with, left him with a sensational desire to not be in that time-frame. He decided to speak to Sargom.
"Leader, please hear me."
"Hm..? Yes friend, what might i do for you?"
"I've come to ask if we could leave earlier. We know not how long we have until our brethren are slaughtered at the hands of that mountain creature. Kor had nearly cost us our life and has left many scarred. He's a carring person, and I believe that he would be a perfect care-taker for the few days our journey will take us."
"Hm.. we could. Children are replaceable and some of them might be picked up by others. Perhaps they could even find the hunters of Kob."

Sargom adressed the crowds.
"Everyone, man the wagons! With a bit of luck, we'll return here in two or three days!"

Naturally, mothers protested immediately and directly. "We can't just leave without our babies! That's unnatural!"

Sargom raised her blade. "Any that do not comply will end their life's journey early and unnatural!"

As much as Sargom would not like to leave behind the children, the circumstance he found himself in allowed him no kindness or compassion.
"Any that seek to flee, run north. Find yourself the hunters of Kob and live among them. "

The speech had not left her mouth entirely, yet the children came back running and screaming. Their loud, high pitched voices would bring about an end to the despair and divideding forces the party had felt. Sargom felt a nagging crushing guilt in her belly. She'd taken to half-draconic meassures in a time when it was not needed. She had made the best, most logical call she could have, but she was not rewarded, neither did she reward herself any credit for trying to do what's best. Felnor was bothered with Kors lengthy return.

Though most children were jumpy and few were interested in the caravan now that they were playing with their toys, they did not seem upset or hurt or even bothered with what was going on.

Kor on the other hand, was not as happy. His persona emobied the perfect opposite of the children.
"We cannot continue just yet." He liked playing pronoun games, but this time he seemed besides himself. "The children have not seen, they have not heard the guardian of these woods. Such raw power unmatched... "
The ambient sounds became rather quiet.
Felnor would bluntly respond: "What are you even talking about?! You wouldn't have seen a guardian, all of us would see it if one was manifest!"
He stared at the sandy desert floor as his voice became louder over time. "...A guardian among us. A guardian beneath us. A guardian upon us!"
With these few words leaving his mouth, the desert floor exerted a flare of dust shooting up into the air. The sands began sliding wildly as the flares shot up left and right. The party found themselves surrounded by moving walls of dust.

A bird soaring over their position would see the desert rose swirling its leaves to the rythm of the wind.
Within such a dusty display, new light sparks appeared. And behind each one, there was a shadow. A grim darkness circled the party.
The desert storm ended as suddenly as it came. In its creative wake, there roamed 4 packs of puggers. Their leader, The top-pug, drove himself to the front and gave a grim grin.

In the meantime, most children were still, either being pulled unto the wagon or pulling themselves on. The dangers of these lands became apparent. Victory would be theirs, but their powers were severely limited for the time being.

"We ride! " Sargom exclaimed as the battle commensed.

When Aegnith heard the hushed whispers, a shudder passed through her, and she would give a slight shake of her head before the hunters of Kob would leave, but they would remain still for hours to come.

While Kor went out into the forest with the children, and took a bit longer to return, it had begun to raise the question of leaving them all behind. Mildor, and the majority of the elves, were appalled by the decision to almost leave them.

"Replaceable?" He would scoff angrily, a chorus of agreements behind him. "You're ridiculous, leaving defenseless and innocent children behind. Anyone who agree is just as bad as the disgusting demons living in the pits of the mountains." He shook his head, another scoff sounding from him. "Mad, the lot of you."

He was cut off by the screams and running of the children back to them, and Kor's exclamation of a guardian. Aegnith would look alarmed, sharing a distant look with Mildor, who would lightly nod towards her before hell temporarily broke loose, dust shooting up and temporarily surrounding them, scaring the wits out of some of the kids. When it settled, it revealed a small band of puggers coming towards their way.

"Really? We're going to waste our time with these pitiful things?" Mildor muttered, watching from the sidelines for a brief moment. "Aegnith, get your spear." He looked at the elves. "Take the trees, rain hell on these pitiful dogs. We shan't waste our time with such low priority things. We have bigger things to worry about."

While Sargom, Felnor and a few others loyal to her rode off into the distance, fleeing the puggers, the elves followed the instructions carefully and swiftly. Rushing down to the trees and firing a hailstorm of arrows at the puggers. Though all of them were hit, a few were coughing up blood and most were left nearly dead. A number of the puggers seemingly displayed traces of corruption. Though it was a blue ocean of firey skin surrounding them, not merely the black lightning.

“There!” Sargom yelled. “…corruption!”

The puggers lighted up in blazing flames, consuming the arrows shot at them.

Crawling swiftly past the carts, one of them scorched over the first cart and a mineralised tree froze over the remains, holding the suffering expressions on the faces of the fallen. The dreaded looks on their faces made them into a rather terrifying sculpture.

A few more than a handful of puggers now stared down the elves as the flames started to consume more of the very dust they crawled over. Verily, if arrows could not harm the low priority beasts, what would?

Kor ran and circled left, distracting a few of the puggers. In the puggers crawl, they mixed and their agressive protective layer turned into a cycle-tornado of larger property following him. The distance between him and the puggers closing in. His breathing became snorting. Would something save this poor boy breathing till death?

Mildor let out a curse, his eyes narrowing as he noticed the arrows were doing nothing to stop the puggers, that traces of black, oozy corruption followed their wake, lighting the dust around them in fire wherever they stepped. He frowned, his own bow and arrows equipped, as he tried to come up with a quick solution. His eyes widened a bit before he turned, shouting for his sister.

She glanced up, and realized what he wanted her to do, as he would be doing the same. Lifting a thumb up to let him know she knew what he wanted, she took out a arrow and brought the arrow's tip to her lips, in which she would close her eyes briefly. When they opened, they were a paler version of what her normal eye color was. She gently blew on the tip of the arrow, and crystals sprouted from it. Loading it into the bow, she would aim carefully, before letting the arrow sail, the arrow sinking into the chest of a pugger. The arrow would explode, ice sprouting from the body of the pugger and encasing it.

Before it would escape, Mildor would fire his own arrow, a simple one, that would shatter the ice and thus the pugger, destroying it. "Use ice!" He shouted. "Don't let the corruption escape!"

Ice-broken corruption now left a light on the floor. Though the source of the light was unseen, the shadows surrounding it would darken any object resting on it.

Kor put up his best stature, looked the puggers in the eyes and exclaimed as official he could: "You have no right to hunt and slay the innocent..." A low tremble surrounded the young Kor. He almost displayed a primal certification about him. The raging storm heading towards him melted the dust they stood on. "A lord fights not. And I shall not serve." Was the answer in the wind of the storm, ever closing on the young one. The young one only stood there. No weapons, no armors, no abilities. Kor spit his final slimes.
"I do not fight..." The power of the storm shook his ears. Unchaged resolve overwhelmed him as he let out a tear.
"I hunt!"
The storm ended. The few puggers fell down on their knees and elbows before him. With power surging from them into Kor, slimes filled their throats. Shaking filled their joints even, as their authority was taken from them for agressive inconsistent wrongdoing.
Kor effortlessly reached into the puggers bodies and relieved them off all vital organs, one by one...
The balance organ, the digestive system, the ocular eyenabler...
With all organs layed out before him, the slimes now stained the palms of his hands as the puggers started to fall apart, never to be relieved from there again. A small pool of corruption was slowly making it's way towards Sargom.

Kor noticed and decided to follow.

Mildor and Aegnith both were perplexed, and a bit wary, or Kor's powerful display, watching his meaty hands reach into the corrupted vessels of the puggers and pull out their vital organs out, one by one, blood and corruption staining the earth around him. The sounds they made were indescribably horrifying. Screams of the puggers, mixed with the screams of the souls trapped within the corruption.. It shook even the toughest warrior's mind.

Noticing that corruption was heading towards Sargom, Aegnith's eyes would widen. She wouldn't tell Mildor, nor anyone, what she was seeing, as she also noticed Kor going towards it. Fearing for the leader's safety, she'd sprint on over towards the site, before purposely putting herself in between Sargom and the corruption, and letting it overcome her instead.

(If that's allowed.)

Having displayed such a powerful scene, Kor would hardly notice anything, let alone anyone speeding past him. In fact, he didn’t even have his eyes open. But words were in writing upon his eye-sockets. And in his mind he could see the world by eyes… of cosmical power.

Aegnith Laid down, not knowing what to expect. The corruption rose up. It set itself up to be a body. Headless, she recognized the form it took. The mountain beings servants. A body of Kod . It’s chest was sealed, though upon her touch was opened. The chest plates moved to each side, the lower (lion-clawed) body part embraced her legs and grabbed her heels. The armor now consumed the Aegnith that once was. Her bow yielded from her hands, the armor closed. The two were only one. Thick sharp claws, full extensions of a body that was nearly mangled within. Wings, 4 claws underneath her. With power beyond the imagination of many, out of reach for most, she would command the lightning… but her mind would not be her own. She sought not to save the few trapped within. She sought to reign, rule… to dominate. To be recognized as her own.

Her influence did not just stop at the moment of first contact. Puggers are weak and can only command those not incapacitated. Aegniths followers were found to be a lot more capable and thus under heavier influence. It was not long before they kneeled to her, receiving reward proportionate to their allegiance. A few started to look like her in mere seconds, parts of their body covered in the corrupt body of Kod. A body that allowed flight, climbing and sometimes cut through though metallic materials. A few shared the gaze in her eyes, receiving the power to command the corruption within creatures. She had received all this, and more so even. But only she and her brother would receive access to the most powerful of corruption abilities. The corrupt black lightning.

She only then received access to her natural state of mind again.
Upon seeing such a sight, Sargom first intended to slay the corrupted. Thinking Aegnith and her followers had switched allegiance and sought to destroy her and lead the party to certain death. But the people rallied against her for her previous displays of incompetence. Realizing there was no evil intent in her corruption, she fell to shame even more. She’d been driven from her position and into silence. Kor was assigned as general and manager. Aegnith as leader and way maker.
Kor was yet a representative of a minority, though he had not much to manage just yet. And so, he and a few that liked him isolated themselves.. until the time to speak had come again. No one knows exactly where the journey would take our heroes next.

Aegnith felt weak, when the corruption released her mind for the time being, allowing her to fall from the armor and to the ground. Her followers, the elves of the caravan, stood around her, worried sick. Her brother pushed madly through the crowd, getting down beside her and cradling her, his eyes wide with both shock and anger. "Why in the hell would you do such a thing?" He snapped at her, though it came out more as him being a worried brother than anything else.

She'd smile weakly and shake her head, murmuring quietly, "I couldn't let it hurt someone, brother. I'm gonna be okay, promise." He let out a low sigh, shaking his head as she leaned forward to hug him. "I'm really tired though, can we rest somewhere?" He'd give a nod and hoist her up in his arms, glancing around. "Pack the wagons," He ordered. "We're moving out to find somewhere to stay before night falls."

The elves nodded and disbanded, and everyone would get the wagons of the caravan together, or what was left, before moving out once more. Along the journey, they found a village that was willing to let them stay for the night on the outskirts, where everyone would set up tents and turn in for the night.

Mildor sat outside, atop a wagon as he sat vigil, staring down at his hand as black lightning flickered along his skin. He could feel the heat, the hunger. It unsettled him, and he'd close his fist, willing it away.

@Skrubsetsu

The darkness of night had a pressence inside of it. A creature of intruige, shadows and corpses.

Kor hadn't the faintest idea of how to react to the pressence of most surrounding him. And as a result of that, he proceeded to take with him a stick and seperate himself a little from the rest of the party.

Kor made a cloak and carried his belongings on the inside of it. Afraid of opening it and exposing others to its content, the stick not included.

The handfull of guards that tolerated the corruption would mutually agree at the nights rest: "I can sense we are nearby. One more outpost and it will be a fluent stream of power. The city of merchants is our destination, I taste it!

Aproaching Mildor, Sargom would come to tell him that they were close. Signs of corruption were stronger nearby. The city of Merchants might hold the answers to what we seek.
"Hey, I've made a 2 day plan for us to get our hands on the skull. Want to hear it?"

Sargom sought to restore her lost honor. But she hadn't the faintest idea of how she might do that now. Even the way she spoke began to reflect how broken and slightly less stable she had become.

Sargom had a few of his old allies come to him proposing they sought out any potential sewer systems and aquaducts inside the city.
Though she was not entitled to say so, she ordered them to ignore such ridiculous ideas.

Kor lead the party forward, experimenting with the powers of authority that he had discovered. It seemed dominant paralyses was the ability he had aquired. Without any further signs of devellopment, Kor held on to what he knew worked and practiced on it.

12 kittens were born that night in the pressence of the party.

Kor went to bed in solitude, nibbling on the spicefull plants woven in between his teeth.

Sargom went to bed, hugging in a warm friendship.

The city of Merchants awaited tomorrow.

Mildor sat there, in the darkness of the night, a soft sigh expelling from his lips as he'd lift his head, and his brightened gaze would glance over the village that they had stopped at, at all the dimly lit tents and slightly displaced cargo on wagons so that people could sleep. A heavy feeling overcame him, the feeling of leadership. Both him and his sister.. They had a responsibility, as well as a curse. What a horrendous combination that was.

Releasing a sigh, he'd notice Sargom approach him. Even though she spoke it, he could feel the corruption close. Hell, at this point, he and Aegnith had become apart of the blasted darkness, as well as a handful of guards that had been able to withstand it. Their personal followers. As she described her plan, he would pause to think about it. Heaving a low sigh, he'd lift his hand again, feeling the heat crawl beneath it. His eyes narrowed. "Fine," He mumbled. "We'll go with your plan. Now, go get some sleep." He sent her away with a light wave of his hand, exhausted and irritated from the day they had experienced.

After another hour or so from sitting atop the wagon, he slowly eased himself down, walking to his sister's tent. He peeked in, noticing that she was already asleep. She would twitch every so often, something she had never done before, and every time she would twitch he could see a pulse of their curse run through her. She was the direct manifestation of Kod. Any time, if she wasn't strong enough.. He could use her against them. He could use him against everyone else. He winced, before stepping away from her tent.

He made his rounds, walking around the makeshift camp and keeping an eye on everyone.

He didn't sleep a wink that night.

Ruckus was afoot.
The encampment was busy assigning the guards and traders for the day. They calculated that with their riches they would be able to buy out exactly one shop. Dividing their earnings equally to gather the supplies they needed (and liked) to save their friends. With a handfull assigned specifically for the task of gathering rogue/thief tools.

Sargom was still asleep when the morning hours had passed.
"Can't believe I've slept this long..." The young warrior rose from her slumber. "Ugh.. the drinks were a bit too strong last night"
There was no doubt that the girl was having a bad hang-over. One of the younger companions tended to Sargom: "We're going to go to the auction, would you hurry up!"
Sargom would pick herself up from the floor saying: "A great person in the evening, a great person in the morning." Though the feelings of nausea would not conform to how tough she'd like to act.

With a thousand flashes of light having passed, most of the party was out shopping.
Kor had gathered Mildor, Aegnith and Sargom. Soon they would meet the museum of the Merchants city. A city seemingly open to strangers. The first thing that was noticible were the large spike-doors hanging from the ceiling. The owner of the establisment known and announced as Mr. M was happy to wave his arms open and welcome in all that paid. The auction was about to start.
A list of Items inside: "5 golden statues in the shape of an M, a new mystery from many miles away, a bleeding coin, a fiery axe and the one and only Skull of Kod."
Or at least, that's what the poster read.
