Odette had to say, she was a bit surprised that Luke was wishing to spare with both she and Ben. It wasn't unusual for she and Ben to be put to the test against each other and such battles between the two always went one way or the other. No one ever knew who would win in a dual against the two Jedi Knights, she and Ben always on equal ground. Yet, it wasn't often that one of them got to dual Master Luke, let alone both of them as a team. She looked to Ben at this outcome, though smiled. She and Ben had been working together as a team ever since they were children. Throughout the years, she had found that together there was nothing that the two of them couldn't handle, "Alright Ben. Let's show Master Luke what you and I are capable of."

With that, she looked to Master Luke and pulled her light saber from her side, igniting it. The purple stream of energy coursed from the handle that she held firmly in her gasp, similar to the blue glow of Ben's saber as he called it forth. With one last glance over to Ben, a grin on her face, the two moved forward, engaging with their Master in battle. Master Luke was skilled, honed in the Force from years of practice and mediation. She and Ben worked together, trying to get an opening to bring down their Master, yet Master Luke always managed to counter them, green flashing against the purple and blue of their sabers.

At one point he had an opening for Ben, but Odette struck, blocking the strike just barely with her own saber and pushing back, causing Master Luke to take a few steps back, the two Knights able to get their bearings and jumping right back into the defensive, working side by side with Ben to identify the right moment to strike.

The match had started slow and steady, the students testing their master's defense and counterattacks. As expected piercing his reflexes would not come easy and his Force Shield was even harder to discern. There was not even a crack in that perfect sphere of control and durability. Indeed, his uncle had become a legend not by luck but by hard work and natural talent-with a hint of genetics peppered in.

Ben flipped backwards in a wide arcing motion after Odette's much needed save. Thank you.

At the height of his flip he ripped a chunk of earth from the ground and launched towards Luke's side. The Jedi Master seemed to tear it asunder from the inside, for it explode before hitting him, raining rocky pieces on the arena. He looked at Ben and Ben imagined his uncle was displeased with such tactics. He ground his teeth, feeling the facade begin to crumble, he could hear his grandfather's voice in the distance. It whispered to be merciless, to kill the old fool.

"Not here... not now." He rushed back into the fray.

The two of them continued to press the Jedi Master. Once or twice, Ben could have swore Luke had been forced to actively participate, to use a Force Push, Pull, or even Repulse. It was during a slight reprieve when Ben reached his threshold for restraint. A stark line of gray flashed betwixt his mind, separating his use of the Light and Dark Side. It was beginning to gain a ruby hue now. He growled angrily before slamming his hand onto the ground inciting large fissures that seized the arena. No longer some test for sport, the battle had become personal. The heated exchange and the ease of which Luke was winning had fed his anger until it broiled and bubbled, now it was ready to erupt.

Nearly eight months of pent up ire fueled his strength in the Force. A subtle gasping noise had begun to rise, a symphony of suffocation. Ben had not realized the sheer influence he was demonstrating but the padawans had begun to choke. A dozen invisible hands were strangling them all. He stood very slowly, reveling in the dusky embrace of the Dark Side.

Then suddenly he yelled. "Traitorrr!"

His shoulders rose and dropped, he could feel the sweat of sudden exertion begin to dampen his robes. He slid his arms from the outer one, tossing it aside. Next he begun to stalk his Uncle; walking from point-a to point-b with a strangled noise around him. He cocked his lightsaber back and fro to escape himself, the rage. It was consuming him more thoroughly than ever before.

Odette felt this dual was going okay. She didn't expect it to be easy to defeat Master Luke. After all, the man had many years of training within the Force. She was confident that she and Ben could do it though, so long as they kept this up and worked together. She continued to strike and block Master Luke's own swipes of his saber. Despite the intensity of it, Odette was enjoying working with Ben to show their Master just how far they had come in the ways of the Force.

Suddenly though, there was a shaking of the ground, causing her yelp to have to catch her balance, wide eyes looking to Ben, his hand on the ground, having used the Force to create fissures in the ground. Panic began to seep into Odette at the sight of this, "Ben?!" What was he doing?! This was just a mock battle, with no need to implement such life threatening tactics. Over the months they had been on missions together, she had, unknown to him, felt the darkness. But had been working with him, hoping to push it away. Yet, she could feel it now. It was suffocating. A darkness seeping from Ben in the world around them. Soon, the padawans began to gasp and choke under the Force that Ben was releasing.

Then, he was stalking forward, toward Master Luke with his saber down, and that panic inside of Odette ignited all the more at the sight. No...he wouldn't try to...But he was. He yelled something about Master being a traitor, and looked ready to go straight in for the kill. In her panic, Odette scrambled to her feet, rushing forward. Ben had very well almost made it to Luke, more feet from him when she rushed him, latching onto the arm from behind, hoping to restrain the arm that held his saber. All the while, she called on the Force, letting its light pulsate from her and to him, her panic and fear clear in her voice, "Ben! Stop!"

In the depths of his mind, where the ebbs of the Force flowed chaotic and distorted, time was a mere construct meant to be ignored. A young Ben turned to see Darth Vader approaching, his gaits echoed by the shallow breathing of his apparatus. His black-clad hand swayed very meticulously through the air, a stark line of red came to life amongst the dusk.

Grandfather, am I ready? is the time now?

A pale wisp of air escaped his mouth vents. Betrayal surged into Ben, a foul emotion that was equal-parts rage and sadness. He accepted them somberly, a mission or inherited vendetta that he had no right to deny. I will not disappoint you, Grandfather. The Dark Side guides me and your lingering will aims my fury. I will strike true against Luke's new order.

Rolling thunder began to sound, dangerous clouds gathered overhead. A booming, guttural, "NO! YOU WILL WAIT!" exploded from within them.

Ben gave the amassing Dark Side energy his full attention, a terrible sweat grasped him. Darth Vader had mysteriously vanished. Had fear swept aside his manifestation? or was it the always stalking presence of this Dark Side entity? Ben managed to gather some form of bravery against it. "Who are you? what do you want?"

The storm recoiled, bolstering its already massive structure then rushed at him, surrounding him, consuming him, finding his deepest of desires. It pressed on his connection to Odette, on his longing for his mother and father. Then it fed the anger and passion, the desire for control, the mastery of manipulation that had recently bloomed.

Once it was satisfied, the storm fell into a dark fog around Ben's feet. It uttered in that guttural, mountainous voice, "You, Heir to Vader. I want youuuu."

* * *

An uncounted number of blessed intakes of breath filled the air. Odetta's voice reached him, gave him the teeniest bit of comfort but it nearly fell on deaf ears. The Light she pushed on him was repelled by a Darkness, both his own and not. It was a dense wall, a turbulent construct that fought back with daggers that shredded her attempt. Still, calm had become present in, Ben Solo's eyes. His body laxed, his lightsaber deactivated.

Luke, who had become tense, dropped his guard and deactivated his own lightsaber. "Ben, what have you done here?"

Ben considered his options, his answers. Odetta deserved more than what his was, more than what he was planning to do. A piece of him, very faint, ached terribly, but it was soon snuffed out by the Dark Side. He slid his arm from her grasp and smiled at Luke Skywalker, galactic hero, and soon-to-be Last Jedi. He forsook his outer robe and attached his lightsaber hilt to the magnetic clasp on his belt. "Nothing, Uncle Luke. I've done nothing ... yet."

He made it to the high-ledge of the arena and dropped down to the temple grounds. "I'm tired," he announced. "I'm heading to bed."

The Light....it was almost as though Ben had some sort of a shield around him. One that refracted her Light, sending it back to her, the Darkness she was feeling continuing to course around him. It was suffocating in himself, making her feel lightheaded and weak. Rather than facing her like she wished for him to do, he merely slipped his arm from her grasp, turning and walking away without a glance her way, speaking of heading to bed. She was left there, kneeling there where he left her, eyes wide and her mind racing. It felt as though this were....a tipping point. One where there was no return from. One that left her in a panic, trying to find some way to crawl back out and bring Ben with her.

She finally looked up, glancing about at all the padawans, some looking on to the retreating Ben in concern and fear. What had just happened shouldn't have. They knew nothing of the darkness that truly resting in this universe. In the time she had spent traveling with Ben, she had seen it, the darkness within the Force that threatened to snuff out what little Light remained in the Universe. The Light that the Jedi protected and that was endanger of being forgotten.

Taking a steadying breath, Odette stood from where she knelt, looking to all the padawans, ever the composed Jedi Knight, her voice commanding but soft, "Go. Return to your quarters."

With that, the padawans hesitantly moved, heading toward their own huts, leaving just she and Master Luke standing there. The moment the two were alone, Odette's calm composure fell and she could feel tears spill from her eyes as she fell to her knees, looking down at her hands, "What do I do, Master Luke? Ben...he...he's been getting worse...I've been trying to help him...draw him from the dark...but he just gets further and further away the more I do..." She sobbed and shook her head. She loved him, though she feared admitting that to Master Luke. And it was killing her inside, knowing that he was suffering and nothing she was doing was relieving him of that. She had never felt so useless, feeling as though she were failing him with little hope of bringing him back, "I don't want to loose him...I don't know what I'd do..."

Luke Skywalker was wrought with misgivings. The Dark Side energy shrouding Ben was unmistakable and its sheer emotion was like a suicide bomb: the tragic end of something beautiful. He centered his himself, maintaining what was important and was doable. He would have to consult with the Force later. Study its ebbs and seek guidance from its omnipotence. In the mean time, Odette Kenobi, was seeking out his guidance. He saw so much of Master Kenobi in her that it panged him at times, made him think of the time he had spent with his first Master.

Luke put on a front and kind smile. "I know, Odette... I know. I won't let him fall, there is still plenty of light in him." He stepped away, rubbing the beginnings of a headache into submission. Then he paused in his tracks, a warning in the Force seizing his senses. "Odette, keep your distance of Ben tonight. I'm afraid your presence will only agitate the situation. I'll speak with him tonight in your stead."

"In the meantime, help me with the Padawans. I'm sure they are feeling distressed after Ben's attack." He hated using the word: 'Attack' but that's exactly what it had been. An attack, a Force Choke so intent on harming others, that it lashed out and strangled everything.

Later that Night

Ben ran harder than he ever had before, the Force pushing him into a blur of motion. The whispers and Darkness had churned, a tsunami threatening to drown him so completely that fear had grasped him. He took it in, not on purpose but it entered anyway. He felt like he was dying.

So he ran for... rather to help. The only person he loved whom's survival meant more than his own. Odette Kenobi, she had to live. To be hidden before the knights arrived. He came to her door and was suddenly reminded of their beginning. That day of false hope and blooming true-love. The Darkness sung to his heart, soothed his anxiety deadly precision.

Luke's dead but he tried to kill me, Odd. I had no choice...

Darth Vader's breathing told him to 'Leave her be'. The mass of Darkness wanted her for the slaughter. Ben fought with all he had to silence them both, if only for the upcoming moment. A shuttering breath left him, a tear jeweled in his eye, then fell. He knocked on her door twice, "Odd," came his fearful voice.

Master Luke's words helped a little to ease the pain she was feeling, but not by much. She wanted to help Ben. She so badly wanted to go to him, to tell him she was there for him, and that everything would be okay. Things always ended up alright as long as they were together. Yet, as Luke went to leave, he told her to keep her distance from Ben tonight. That her presence might end up agitating him further. Instead, he suggested she care for the padawans. He was right. The padawans were likely frightened after such events. She needed to make sure they were alright. She was a Jedi Knight an they looked up to her. She needed to be there for them.

And so, she left to check on each of the padawans. Some seemed to be holding up okay. A little shaken but all together they would be fine. A coupe of the younger padawans were in tears, to which she held them and comforted them much like a mother might. After calming the padawans, Odette herself retired to her own hut, trusting Luke to speak to him like he promised. If anyone could help Ben aside from her, then surely Luke could. After all, the man had practically raised them, and was much like a father to Odette herself. She trusted Luke with her life, and trusted him to help Ben as well.

Once returning to her hut, Odette took to studying the books that piled around her small home. With her and Ben always off on missions, Odette found it useful to study up on different cultures and languages, which had come in handy on more occasion than one. She sat up with that for a few hours, before finally retiring to bed, believing that all was well and that come morning everything would be calm and peaceful once again.

Only, late into the night, Odette was awakened by a frantic knock on her hut door, causing her to sit up in shock, rushing to her door to open it up, having heard the fear in Ben's voice. Quickly pulling the door open, she feared the worst. He looked so scared, there was even a tear streaked down his face. This wasn't like Ben. He was normally so calm and composed. Just what had happened to cause him to slip into such a state?

She quickly pulled him into her hut and shut the door, eyes scanning him for some sort of injury. He looked roughed up, with dust and small pebbles sticking to his robes. She was frantically checking him for injuries, speaking hurriedly and in a rushed tone, panic and fear for him in her voice, "Ben? What happened? Are you hurt?"

The darkness surged forward causing strain on his face. He growled his denial of it, pushing it back into his mind, into the ebbs of the Force stretching through him. Odette's room shook violently. Another tear streamed down his face, both cheeks now tinged with his regrets and terror. With the utmost care, he moved to grab her shoulders. His hands found them and despite his attempts, they shivered with some form of cowardice.

In response to her question, a faint smirk appeared. "What?" he asked behind a scattered chuckle. "You're worried about me? wondering if I'm hurt? You're too bright sometimes." He could barely stand it, having her worry for him when Luke was dead and buried beneath his hut. "I... I'am good, Odd... Just wanted to see you. Talk with you, like earlier. I want to be with you for awhile, is that okay?" He pulled her into a gentle embrace, his shivers falling on her skin. His chaos in the Force free flowing around them.

Ben had to stall, at least until he could discover a plan... a sound one, to keep Odette safe. They come for you! boomed Snoke through the Force, an image of death and fire flashed in front of him. He ignored it.

Something was wrong. Terribly wrong. The darkness that fell into her room as Ben entered was suffocating. It felt her heart racing and she felt a pang of fear at it if she were honest. His smirk and comment about her 'being too bright' didn't help her worries either. She looked up to him, the fear clear on her face at his behavior. He....he wasn't himself and it worried her greatly. Had Master Luke spoken to him? Clearly not as of yet if Ben was acting in this way.

When he stated he just wanted to see her and speak with her, pulling her into his embrace, her heart slowed a little bit. Yet, as he held her, she could feel his shivers and feel such a dark energy flowing off of him. Feeling this, Odette attempted to drive it away, wrapping her arms around Ben in her own gentle embrace, as close as she could to wrap him in her light, pulling his head down slightly so that she could nuzzle her face against his head, "Ben....I'm scared. Something's not right. I can feel it. I....I don't want to lose you." She gently kissed his head, stroking his raven hair with her hand softly, "Please....stay here with me tonight. Then in the morning we can go meditate and speak with Luke. The two of us will help you, but you have to let us."

Her lips moved to gently kiss his, looking into his brown eyes with her own cerulean seas. She took his hand and did her best to smile up at him, helping to calm his trembling as she pulled him toward the bed, "Come. Let's get some rest"

For an amazing second-his battle and her sheer Light Side energy had held Snoke off. It felt liberating; to know the kind and beautiful future he could have with Odette. The Force, in all its power, revealed just a fragment of what that path held. A tender relationship with Odette, an understanding between father and son, a worthwhile duty to the Jedi Order ... That could have been his life, if he had not known the falsehood and betrayal it was built upon. The horrendous actions that had led to such a pitiful belief in Luke's so-called-peace.

Their kiss, her lips, the panic that made her tender flesh, her gentle kiss, a tad rushed, would be the last. It was calculated, a primal response to her Light Side energy, a near perfect counter attack. For the Dark Side around him had vanished, ceased wholly its work outwardly. Ben, whom conflict had stoked the chaotic, passionate nature of the Dark Side, was now resolute.

Odette would never understand as long as she held onto Luke and his Order. Even in his most desperate of hours, she still grasped for that decrepit, dead, fool. Ben's shivers stalled and behind his ravenous curls, he hid a cold indifference on his face. He frowned for a split-second then smiled tightly, his lip quivering just a bit.

Ben anchored himself to the ground, her judicious pull being met with inertia. "Odette," he uttered, his hand raising towards her face slowly, the Force assailing her body in a stasis locking field. In that state he allowed himself to cup her cheek, to let all of his affection seep through his skin and into her. His cold eyes looked for anything but her own. "I won't do this anymore. I imagined for months that I could convince you to join me but I was wrong... You will never abandoned this sham, this lie made real. The Jedi and the Rebellion are the ones who are evil, they've toss this galaxy into chaos. Allowed this mess of a reality to thrive."

The darkness inside held him, embraced him, swayed its malice to the brim, until nothing was left but an iota of light. His hand remained stretched out, a constant flux of Dark Side energy powering the stasis on her. "...Luke tried to kill me, did you know that? Did you even think him capable of such dark actions. I bet you didn't." Ben laughed, a great and terrible feeling reminding him of the Knights' arrival. "I'm going to destroy it all, Odette. I'll kill everything and everyone he's ever love and leave the thing I loved the most to bear witness."

He came to within in inch of her, finally allowing their eyes to meet. "I'm sorry, My one-and-only love," he told her, though his voice sounded unconvincing. Then with a decisive thrust of his hand over her head, he began the fight to subjugate her consciousness to sleep.

"Odette."

Ben pulled her to a stop, keeping her from bringing him over to the bed for rest. She looked to him in confusion, though the look on his face made her pause, slowly releasing his hand, the realization that something really was wrong hitting her like cold carbonite. His hand raised in front of her face, causing her to flinch and take a step back, her eyes wide. Then, she couldn't move. It was as though the Force itself had gripped her and she was unable to escape no matter how much she struggled or tried to fight it using her own force. The only movement this hold of the Force allowed was the fearful trembling in her body as she looked to him, though he wouldn't meet her own gaze.

His hand found her cheek, and his words sent daggers through her. Luke had done what? No. That had to be some sort of mistake. Luke wouldn't try to kill Ben. Had he gone to speak with Ben and something gone wrong? And if he had tried to kill Ben was here, then....oh no. Where was Master Luke? The look on Ben's face, that dark laugh at the mention of Luke, told her the answer to that. Tears were now streaming down her cheeks, falling onto the hand that held her cheek with such gentleness. She could feel his affection for her in that touch, yet his words and expressions left her devastated, unable to find comfort in such affections.

He was going to destroy the temple. Kill everything and everyone. No! The Padawans! He couldn't! They were young, some still children! They had helped to raise the younglings, as though they were brothers and sisters. How could he do this? She struggled more against the hold he had on her, trying to break through the dark chains that held her in place, but failed. It was too strong.

Coming closer to her, his face was no more than an inch from hers, his dark eyes meeting her gaze finally, apologizing, though it sounded far from sincere. Tears continued to stream down her face. For so long, she had thought she could help him. That she could continue to pull him toward the light and save him from such a fate as this. From the dark that had threatened to consume him. Only...she couldn't. She saw that now.

She had done so much, to hold onto him as tightly as she could...and she failed him.

A sob escaped her as she remained in that hold, "Ben...Ben, please...you don't have to to do this..." She pleaded and begged, only it fell on deaf ears. He thrust his hand out, and she found herself struggling to stay awake. What would he do with her? Would he kill her once she was out? Leaving her for last so that she could see all the damage he had done? Then finally rid himself of her, the last remaining hint of his light?

A choked sob of his name escaped her lips, before finally her eyes slid shut, and her body fell limp.

Once she was sleep and in his arms, Ben searched the hutted area for a viable hiding spot for her body. When he found a spot near the arena, a crater from when he ripped a chunk of earth away, he laid her inside and quickly covered her up with loose grass and vines. He wholly expected to never see her again, so he allowed one more tear to fall for his craven-self. There was much to be done and with the arrival of a jet black ship and its whining hum, the extermination had begun.

Three warriors all adept in the Dark Side strode from the ship's lowered ramp. They greeted Ben with silence at first then slowly with a bent knee, respect. One of them explained the situation in such a manner, that Ben had gathered an understanding his personality. The Knights of Ren were another Order bent on power, he were they're master, as dictated by Snoke.

Ben fell into his role without flaw, after all he always believed his place and birthright was as the Galaxy's sole Leader. He turned to the gathering Padawans; curious spectators, and roused innocents. Ben looked over his shoulder at them and gave the order, "Kill them." His words sent the Knights into actions, pouncing them onto the unsuspecting children. One of the older Padawans confronted him and Ben mentally applauded his combat instinct. He crossed his arms over his chest, domineering as always.

"Impressive, I might let you live."

Everything was in choas. The padawans tried their best to defend themselves, yet they failed. The screams of children filled the air. Few padawans were spared, and those that were spared were sent off to destroy what was left of the temple and slaughter the one or two padawans that had wisely hidden rather than coming out of the huts at the sight of the dark ship.

The smell of smoke filled Odette's senses, having her awake and up in a few moments. She wasn't quite sure where she was at first. It was dark and dirty. Soon she realized she seemed to be in a hole in the ground, covered by vines and other follage. Quickly she was scrambling out of the hole, and what she saw made her heart fall.

Everything...everything was destroyed. Burning and crumbled to the ground. She took a few steps, crying out in sorrow when she saw the bodies of all the padawans. All the children, slaughtered in cold blood. Her hand covered her mouth as she tried to hold in any more fearful sounds. She needed to get out of here. To go away before Ben could find her and do the same to her. Had it been anyone else than one of their own, she would not have hesitated to strike them down. But there was no way she could face one of the others, especially Ben.

She moved to her hut, which somehow still remained standing. Quickly moving inside, she went to gather her lightsaber, only to find it gone. That was when she noticed a bag sitting upon her bed. Walking over, she found it was different items Ben had packed to take with him, wherever he was going. Books, different letters that she and Ben used to write to each other in secret when their relationship was fresh, and her saber.

She took only her saber, though paused. Ben was going to come back for this bag. Her eyes moved to her desk and moved there quickly, taking a piece of parchment and writing.
Ben,
There are things that are happening within you that no one can possibly understand, not even myself. My biggest regret is that I wasn't able to help you, to ease the pain you were feeling. I'm sorry I failed you. Though I can not agree with nor follow the choices you are making, please know that I do truly care for you and wish you happiness. There is still Light in you, and I hope one day you find it again.

You are my dream and my universe. I love you. Forever.

Your starlight,
Odette.

Swallowing hard, she held back tears as she folded the parchment, and then taking the necklace from around her neck, one Ben had given her long ago as a symbol of their connection in both heart and the Force, she wrapped the chain around the letter and gingerly tucked it into the bag for Ben to find.

With that, and with only her saber in hand, she headed out of the hut and was once again hesitated by the scene about her. The fires and the bodies, all horrible choas. She had walked away from her hut and stood there in sorrowful silence still, when a voice spoke up behind her.

"Odette?"

Turning, she saw two of the padawans, young lads about 15 years of age, standing behind her. Relief flooded throught her to see that not all of the padawans had been killed and she quickly embraced them closely, "Seris and Kimber. Thank the Force." She pulled back, looking to them, "Come, we must get off the planet now." Before Ben came back and found these two alive. With that, she was quickly heading toward the ship that she and Ben always took on missions, the two padawans in tow. Once there, she was quick to have the ramp let down and went to board the ship, pausing when she heard no feet following her up the ramp.

Turning, she looked to the two, the lads pulling out their sabers, the blades igniting green and yellow. She was stunned, finally understanding. These two hadn't escaped Ben's grasp, they had been recruited. She shook her head, "Don't do this. Master Luke took you both in when you had no one. If you kill me, you betray all of his teachings and everything he has done for both of you."

"Sorry, Odette." One said with a frown on his face,"We really do like you and we thank you for always being so kind. But Master Ben has promised to let us live if we did as he says."

"And he said to kill everyone."

With that, the two lept at her, Odette jumping from the ramp to the ground, the three beginning a deathly battle. The only thing was, Odette couldn't bring herself to strike down the padawans she had helped bring up and train. They were like little brothers to her and though she certainlly could do so very easily, she just couldn't bring herself to end their lives, even if that was what they were attempting to do to her.

The only thing she could think to do was get away. Get on the ship and fly off. She moved again toward the ramp, though as she was halfway up, one of the padawans reached out in the Force, snatching the metal from the screws, causing her to let out a scream of surprise as the metal was jerked from under her.

She gained her bearings, though not fast enough. As she got to her knees, a flash of light from a saber danced across her back in searing pain, her body falling to the ground motionless. The two stood there, discussing what to do with the body, when one of the Knights of Ren approached, speaking. Apparently Snoke wanted the body of this girl, for whatever reason. And so, the boys let the Knight take Odette away and the two waited for the return of their new master.

When Ben finally found them, both stood proudly, clearly wishing to please their new master, "We finished it Master. All the others are dead. And come look." Boarding the ship, the boys pulled up the security footage, showing the footage of Odette's final moments, both seeming very proud to show their Master that they had been strong enough to take out the female Jedi Knight, "It wasn't easy, but we did it. We killed her for you."

The night sky, blotted out by tumbling pillars of smoke had become witness to the Temple's burning. Ben wafted through slain Padawan's, children whom's body had been bisected or pierced through, some of them by his own lightsaber. His throat felt blocked by carbonite. The emissaries of Snoke-the mass of dark energy in his visions-were dispatching the ones that thought to escape. There were four at his side now, seeking out possible survivors amongst the staid bodies.

Rain had begun to fall, pelting them heavily. "I wanna leave now," he said in front of the burning temple. "All are dead. Even, Luke. I saw to him personally."

The Knights of Ren guarded him like loyal dogs. One of them gestured towards an onyx ship, its engine humming. Ben Solo could not express how he felt, it was truly a mystery, a concoction he had never experienced. A death and rebirth of the highest echelon. He could feel something dying inside, it brought a form of clarity and despair. Before he depart he felt an oddity in the Force, a fierce cut and deception. He looked off towards the disturbance, wordlessly halting his servants and Knights. "Hold on..."

The thread of deception brought him to Odette's ship, two of his chosen Padawans waited with lofty emotions. They wanted to impress him and had felt, without little doubt, that they would. He greeted them with a stern expression as they boarded the ship. They pulled up footage of Odette struggling against them, he stepped forward, pushing them aside. He could see her restraint, so palpable to him that it enraged him.

Odd... Odd, kill them! Erase them! LIVE!

As the final blow was dealt, his agony-through the Dark Side-was molded into fury. A tremor ran through him, his anger sizzled and roared. Two of Knights of Ren, sensing his conniptions rushed aboard, only to witness the two Padawans contorted bodies floating overhead. The ship's machinery, its buttons and casings were crumpled, ripped open, and sparking. He held his tears and at the sound of a female Knight of Ren's observation, "Now I know why, Snoke, chose him. What raw power." The bodies dropped.

His ire made his body tense, made his gait predatory. "We're leaving. Now!" the yell came swiftly.

Aboard the Abyss

Ben stared at the black attire left by a male Knight of Ren, bottling up the great despair of losing, Odette. A sigh let him as he discarded his light robes and donned the new ones. He felt... right in them. The color suited him and he had always known it so. "Ben is dead... The Order, decimated. Luke, expunged... Odd ... My starlight... gone. Yes, Ben is dead. I'am something new, someone different. The Master of the Knights of Ren."

He looked out the circular view-port at a massive ship overhead. "...Snoke, I can feel his darkness."

Two weeks. Two weeks of being abused and locked away by this 'Snoke' and his followers. He attempted many times to attempt to turn her to his side. Stating how they were trying to make the galaxy a better place and how they would all work together to do so. He, Ben (or as he called him 'Kylo Ren'), and herself. And of course, she refused. She could feel the dark side flowing off of the man and wanted nothing to do with his so called 'peace'. She stayed strong, never giving in despite the harshness she was put through in her time as a captive, toutured both physically and through the Force.

She would often ask for Ben, saying she didn't want to speak to or bargain with any of them. If she was going to speak with anyone, it would be him. Yet, Snoke said Ben was no more and Kylo Ren wanted nothing to do with her. That he had finally separated himself from the Light and didn't wish to see someone that would remind him of his past. That is unless he herself turned to the dark side. For these past two weeks Snoke had used her relationship with Ben as a bargaining chip, promising that if she joined them she could be with Ben. As much as she wanted to see him again and talk, she would not give in to the dark. She had seen the horrors of doing such and it was not something she would ever be a part of.

And so she waited. For what, she wasn't sure. She figured the end result of all of this would be her death, yet Snoke seemed to want her to join him terribly. After all, a powerful Sith, backed by two former Jedi of such strong bloodlines? It would be idiotic to pass such a opportunity. She never would though, and so waited for him to grow tired of attempting to convince her and just get rid of her.

It was as she waited, that she found an opportunity. A lone Storm Trooper guarded her and, upon reaching into his mind through the Force, found a very weak will. Under the guise of taking her to Snoke (as the evil Emperor called for her often to make an attempt to convince her in joining him), she had the Storm Trooper walk her far through the base, until the two had reached a ship. Once upon the ship on her own, it wasn't easy getting out. She had to fly it on her own and get away from TIE fighters. Yet, her connection through the Force assisted in predicting coming attacks and take out enemy ships that threatened to shoot her from the sky.

And once far enough way, she jumped, the hyperdrive taking her quickly away from the base, and back to the very place she came from.

Upon arriving, she was met with destruction similar to the night it happened. The huts, all but hers, still in disarray. Scared marks on the ground and rocks marked the weapons that had been used. Dried blood littering walls and rocks. The bodies were gone. She had expected to find corpses or skeletons. Yet, she found marked graves for the padawans. Even the two that had attacked her. But...who had buried them all? As she ran over her confusion in her head, there was a quiet beeping sound that reached her ears, causing her to turn and face the very ship she had attempted to escape upon the night of the attack.

Walking over to the ship and making her way inside, the beeping grew louder until she found BB-8 and BB-11, communicating in their little beeping sounds. Upon seeing her, they whirled in panic, wheeling themselves backwards away from her. She held her hands up though and spoke, "Wait, it's okay. Stop screeching." They seemed to calm a bit at her usual soft demeanor and she knelt to look at the two, "We're the last of everyone here then I suppose." She frowned in thought for a moment, before she looked to them again, "Did either of you see anyone else here? Or, well, who buried the padawans that is?"

With that, the two droids looked to each other and BB-8 rolled up to her, showing a hologram. And what she saw sent a huge wave of happiness and relief. In the hologram was Master Luke, alive. Distraught, but not dead as she had thought. Apparently, whatever Ben had done to attempt to kill him had failed. So, he had been the one to bury all of the Padawans. She looked to the two, speaking again, "Did you two see where he went?" A sad whirling came as their response and she frowned. So then, Luke was gone and she had no idea where he was. Maybe there was a clue in the rubble of the temple?

Quickly moving to the rubble that had once been Luke's hut, she shifted through it all. For hours it seemed she stayed there, looking for anything at all that might tell her where Luke was. And then, she felt something. Something in the Force drawing her to a certain area in the rubble. She shifted through it, unless she found a small pouch. Pulling it out, she opened it, and what she saw shocked her. A piece, similar to the other pieces they had found that showed parts of a map to the First Jedi Temple. This made 3 out of the 4 pieces for the whole map. Had....had Luke left this on purpose? For her to find? He must have realized he didn't have her body and knew her to be alive. She clutched the piece close to her for a moment before hiding it in her robes, moving from the rubble.

It was then that there was a trembling. It almost knocked her off her feet and she caught her balance before stood up straight, looking to the sky. Landing, not too far from her, was a ship. A junky looking ship to be honest, but it was still something that made her heart race. Had Snoke sent someone after her? She drew her saber, eyes on the ship, ready to defend herself against any who came from this ship.

Kylo Ren
20 | Master of the Knights of Ren

Kylo was drenched with sweat and sticky blood. His newly refurbished lightsaber, now black with two vents jutting from its hilt, was tightly held against the cobblestoned arena. Four of the Knights of Ren, two of which had been harmed and slumped against pillars, were his opponents. Rain pelted the energy shields protecting their interior, the castlesque home was primal, thick with the Dark Side, and foreboding. A lance of lightning painted the room bright blue.

A Knight wielding a bowstaff complete with a red laser blade at its tips, twirled it and danced towards, Kylo Ren. In the pass two weeks, Snoke had taught him the basics of what he could only grasp by instinct. The control that Luke always preached but never taught. Kylo Ren pounced backwards, igniting his archaic lightsaber. He fiddled with a nuanced finger, a tiny thing that pulled at the man's jacket and pulled him to the left. The Knight's balance had been thrown off, he slipped partially but reinforced his Force Shield, and charged head on. Kylo landed and just as quick dashed forwards, his blade raised in such a manner that piercing stab was all that was possible.

Just as the two were to clash, a energy froze them, literally. Kylo Ren could not help but feel violated. Snoke's guttural voice bellowed, a hologram of his deformed face appeared above them. "Kylooooo! Return to me, I have a mission for you, Apprentice."

The battle halted and with order to standby, The Knights of Ren bidded their champion and master goodbye. Upon the Abyss, Kylo Ren fitted his armor and newly made helm. He wanted to honor his grandfather's legacy, to stand up to his most terrifying of presences. Outfitted completely, Kylo Ren answers his summonings from Snoke, his voice synthesized... just like his grandfather's. "Supreme Leader, what can I do to appease you?"

Snoke snapped into existence. "Kylo Ren, your armor makes for a daunting form. It would have brought great pride to Darth Vader."

"Thank you, Supreme Leader."

"The First Order shrinks in the southern-most sector of Galaxy. Go, rest control from those weaklings. Teach them, no, show them all the emergence of a new Vader."

"You will will be done, Supreme Leader. Should I bring aboard the Knights of Ren as well?"

"No, I have a separate mission for them. You shall do this alone, making your merits all the more indomitable."

Kylo Ren bowed his head even lower and Snoke vanished from his room. He made for the south sector of the galaxy, prepare to quell any and all conflicts.

The Millennium Falcon's ramp dropped down. Han, Leia, and Chewbacca came out, all wore a face of apprehension. Leia had felt a great rip in the Force, one that echoed a terrible heartache. When she had first felt it, the anguish and pain had doubled her over with sadness. She urged Han to go to Luke and Ben, and Han, always with his friend, Chewbacca, made way for now decimated island.

"I don't like the feel of this, Chewie. Its too quiet for a school of teenage wizards."

Chewbacca roared his agreement.

Leia made her move first, running straight for something neither of them had took notice of... Odette. The once General grabbed the girl by her hands, the Force had whispered what happened but she just had to hear it for herself. "Where are they? where's Ben? where's Luke?"

Odette had expected horrible things to come form that ship. Storm Troopers and perhaps the few unaccounted Padawans that Ben had chosen to be by his side. Maybe even Ben himself. No, not Ben. She had to remind herself the Ben she knew was no more, burnt away by the dark. And what emerged from the ashes was Kylo Ren. Yet, Kylo Ren and his follows did not stalk down the ramp of this ship. Instead, it was a man, woman, and what appeared to be a Wookie. This confused the girl at first, staying on guard with Saber held tightly. That was, until the woman moved toward her quickly. She caught sight of the woman's face and immediately her saber withdrew and dropped her saber so as not to hurt the woman rushing to her. A moment later, the woman held her hands, asking where Ben and Luke were.

"L...Leia...?" Yes, this was her. She had never met the woman herself, but she recognized her from a hologram she had once seen on the ship she and Ben would travel on in their missions. There were also times she would see glimpses of these three, very quickly, during shared visions with Ben, but he never let her see much, blocking the three from his visions and from her. Leia looked so worried about Ben and Luke and for a long moment, Odette stood there, staring at her, not wanting to speak. Not wanting to tell the woman what had happened. And, as she stood there, there were even tears that had begun to fall from Odette's eyes.

Seeing this, Leia moved from holding the younger girl's hand to pulling her into a embrace, Odette hugging the woman back tightly, a soft sob escaping Odette, her words coming out more rushed than she meant to, the horrible events still fresh in her mind,"I tried....I tried so hard to help him....to stop him....I'm so sorry....I failed him..."

"No...no you didn't...it was not up to you to fix him...none of this was your fault." Leia pulled back form the embrace to look to the girl, "You did all you could."

"And it wasn't enough." Odette said softly, shaking her head, "Ben is gone....I have no idea where Luke is...everyone....the padawans....are dead. Snoke is using Ben to do horrible things and...I...I'm not sure what I can do."

Leia was quiet for a moment. She placed a hand on Odette's shoulder, opening her mouth to speak once more, when the shrill sounds of flighters entering the atmosphere could be heard.

Odette turned her gaze tot he sky, eyes going wide, "Oh no...they followed me!"

"Quick!" Leia said, urging Odette toward their own ship, "Get inside, we need to get out of here, now."

By now the ships that had come through the atmosphere were shooting their lasers down at the four of them. Odette had quickly scooped up her saber from where she had dropped it on the ground, doing her best to deflect the lasers with both her own saber and with the Force. Soon, the four had boarded the ship, allowing with the two squealing BB units. Han and the Wookie had taken to the piloting seats and as Odette quickly made her way into the main area, she looked to the man, "Where's your firing system?"

It was the Wookie that roared the answer and Odette nodded in understanding. Part of her studies in understanding the many cultures of the Universe for the missions she and Ben would go on was studying as many languages as she could. And of course, upon Ben's mention of knowing a Wookie himself, that was one of the languages she had picked up. She was moving swiftly across the craft and down into the firing station, climbing into the seat and putting on the headphones to communicate with Han and Leia while she took up the defense, "Just keep flying. I'm going to try and get these First Order ships off of us."

"Look kid," Came the voice of Han, urgently as he had the Millennium Falcon burst through the atmosphere of the planet, "This ship isn't some toy, you need to--"

"Don't worry." Odette said, firing at one of the TIE fighters, shooting it from the sky, "I can do this. Ben and I took out plenty of these guys on our missions." She let out a yelp of surprise as the chair swiveled but quickly caught her balance, shooting at the enemy again, "This may be a bit old fashioned in terms of weaponry, but it's not too different."

She heard some grumbling of complaints about her comment of the Falcon's weapons being 'old fashioned', but no other complaints of her shooting and getting the Order off of their trail. She went on, taking the ships out of the sky, giving Han time to prepare for a jump to hyperspace. There was a quick warning through her communicator to 'hold on tight' and then the ship jerked, lurching at hyperspeed, taking them far away from the few remaining fighters that had been pursuing them.

Now out of the order's reach and them not knowing where the junked up ship had gone, that left them safe for now. She let out a breath, leaning back as she took the communicator from her ears and slowly began making her way up to the main part of the hold, where Hand Leia, and Chewbacca came out to meet her. She took a deep breath as she stood there, "I'm sorry for getting you into this mess. I didn't think they would have found me so soon. Snoke...after the attack, captured me. I managed to escape, but...I thought I had more time."

"Odette," Leia spoke, making Odette herself look to her in surprise, having never told the woman her name. Yet, she knew who she was, "Please, tell us what happened."

Slowly getting over her surprise in the fact that these people knew her name, she slowly began speaking, moving to sit down at the nearby table as she spoke, "Something....was very wrong. It has been for a while. Ben.....slowly began slipping...I tried to help him we were a team and always looked out for each other. And for a while, it seemed like the support I would give him was helping....but after a while...it seemed like nothing I could do eased him. And then, the day that everything happened, he....he tried to kill Luke. He was choking all the Padawans. I tired to stop him and he managed to snap out of it...but was clearly bothered."

She took a shaky breath, "I spoke to Luke and he said he would speak to Ben in my place. I hoped that maybe he would listen to Luke and we could work on doing something else to help him." She shook her head, "But then....Ben came to me in the middle of the night. He was so upset, trembling. His robes were dusty and he looked like he had been in some sort of struggle. He told me....he told me that Luke attacked him." She looked up to them finally, "He said that the Jedi and the Rebellion were the things that were evil, and that he was going to destroy everything. Kill everyone." She buried her face in her hands as she sat there, "And he did. I awoke in some hiding place to find the padawans slaughtered and the temple in ruins." She removed her face from her hands, looking to them once more, "He had a few padawans join him. They attacked me and took me to Snoke. They tried to get me to join them, but I wouldn't. They kept me there for two weeks, but I finally managed to get out and come here, hoping...to find someone that survived."

Taking another deep breath, she continued, "That's when I found our droids. BB-8 belonged to Ben, and BB-11 is my droid. They recorded what happened after I was taken. Luke...he survived Ben's attack, buried the padawans, and left. I....don't know where he could be. I can try to search for him, but it might take a while."

Leia seemed to have not been surprised by what she was saying. And to Odette, it seemed as though her explanation more of confirmed something than told the woman new information. She was silent for a moment, taking in all that Odette said, before she walked over, sitting next to the girl and placing a hand on her shoulder, "Don't worry...we'll figure all this out, and we'll search for Luke. Thank you for trying to help our son, Odette."

Odette nodded to what Leia said, though slowly looked to her, then Han and Chewbacca, and then back to Leia, "How...how did you know my name?"

Kylo Ren
29 | Dark Side User | Supreme Leader Kylo Ren

Luke had fooled him so completely that all he could do was brood on his failure. Many of his Stormtroopers ended up on the chopping block, a few of them quite swiftly. Kylo Ren was exactly where he always knew he would be, at the head of the galaxy, a shadow version of his once childish dream, but a version nonetheless. His eyes had fallen into a darker shade, Kylo Ren had studied and heard about features changing upon delving into the Dark Side, but his particular affliction was different. Was he even truly of the Dark Side? his soul felt free of Snoke, but now he floated in an ocean of gray.

He had a Knight of Ren with him, unhelm and wearing casual garb. She hung her head low to whisper in his ear, he had fancied the small canteen but it was far too loud and lively for regular talk. A long scar mirrored his own-she was exceptionally loyal to him. Her blond hair touched his shoulder. "General Hux, is requesting an audience for the umpteenth time."

Kylo Ren faced the stage. "And? let him wait. Hux is a sniveling creature."

"... Then why keep him?"

The question brought pause to him, then remembrance. Kylo Ren smirked behind the large hood of his black cowl. "Simple, a cur's weakness, properly manipulated, can be a sharp tool. Go back and personally inform the cur that I'll visit him once I return. Be sure to really put on the airs."

"As you wish, Supreme Leader." She bowed once more before duking away. Soon afterwards the sound of a speeder hummed and vanished into the distance. Kylo Ren could feel Tesla's thread in the Force dwindling, even still, it lurked alongside the other Knights of Ren.

Kylo sighed lightly, leaning back in the decrepit chair. "...Od-" he stopped the words in their tracks. "Kill the past to become who you're meant to be." An image of Rey flourished in his head. He smiled contently, almost cockily. "Rey... You are my future. Whether that be my enemy or apprentice."

Odette looked to Leia and Han, awaiting the answer to her question, though the two adults seemed hesitant to give her such answers.

After moment of looking silently to her husband, considering her words, Leia finally looked back to Odette and spoke softly, "Han and I kept in touch with Luke and contacted him often. He always gave us updates on how Ben was doing, and often...Luke spoke of you as well. How close you and Ben were and that you were very good friends. And, later...he told us that you and Ben were together, though no one other than Luke knew. He was waiting for you and Ben to come to him and tell him, rather than he telling you both that he knew."

Odette was taken aback by this new information. So...Luke had known about she and Ben? Her eyes were wide and she looked down to her hands. Now, she found herself wishing Luke had come to she and Ben, told them that he knew about their relationship. Perhaps things might have turned out differently. The fact that he had known this whole time felt like someone had splashed ice cold water over her, getting hit with the cold reality of this. Taking a deep breath, she looked to Leia and Han, speaking quietly, "We....we didn't want anyone to know...we...were afraid. That if Luke found out, he would forbid us to be together and separate us."

Leia smiled softly, though it was a sad smile, as she reached out to embrace the girl once more before pulling back, "Luke enjoyed that you both had found someone you cared for so deeply. And...knowing my son found such an amazing girl to look after him, it made me heart soar. I only wish I could have met you before all of this."

In a way, seeing Leia look at her so softly, it gave Odette a warm feeling, much like one would when hearing praise from a mother. And in a way, she supposed she could think of Leia as a sort of mother to her, considering this was the mother of the man she loved so dearly. Odett found herself hugging the woman again for a long moment, and when she pulled back, she found herself entrapped in the restricting hug of the Wookie, the strength of it lifting her off of her seat with a slight yelp, "You must be Chewbacca." Odette gasped out during the tight hug before being set back down.

"Alright kid." Came the voice of Han, stepping up. And though the man wasn't as warm as the other two, she could see a sort of fondness in his gaze, "We need to get you somewhere these Order people can't find you. We can take you back to the Rebel base if you'd like. We could use a Jedi in this fight."

Odette went quiet for a moment in thought to Han's suggestion and after a long moment of thinking, she slowly shook her head, "I...I can't." She looked to the three of them, "I don't think I'd be able to face Ben. Not right now." It wasn't that she didn't think she was strong enough to beat him...but...the thought of fighting him, and possibly ending him, weighed heavily on her and she wasn't ready to face it. No, she needed to hone in on the Force, find herself through it and continue her training. Only then would she be able to face him.

She told Han and Leia about the pieces of the map that she and Ben had been sent on missions for a few years now to find. About how she had 3 of the 4 pieces, and had found hints to where the last piece was through some of Luke's writings. Her personal mission now was to find that last piece, go to the first Jedi temple, and continue her training in secret until she was ready to face Ben. Once they had arrived to the Rebel base, Leia offered to give her a ship for her travels, to which Odette was grateful for.

"Leia," Came Odette's voice as the four approached the ship for Odette's departure. She looked to the older woman, "Will you keep BB-8 with you? He belonged to Ben and...I feel it'd be right for you and the others here to have. He'll be a great help and he's hard working. Brave too." She knelt, placing a hand on BB-8's head with one hand and BB-11's head with the other, "Besides, these two have a connection. As long as you have BB-8, if you need me, you can have him track BB-11 to find me." Standing up straight, she looked to the older woman and gave her a soft smile, taking the woman's hands in hers, "If you ever need me, send BB-8 for me and I'll be here as quick as I can. Be safe, Leia."

"And you do the same." Leia smiled and the two embraced one last time.

After letting Leia go, Odette moved to Chewbacca, who roared in sadness to see her go, lifting her off her feet in another tight hug, Odette hugging the furry beast as well, "Take care of them, Chewbacca." After she was let go, she moved to Han, and unsure how to say goodbye to the stern looking man, she held out her hand, "Goodbye, Han. It was nice finally meeting you." Giving a roll of his eyes, Han made a gesture toward himself, to which Odette gave smile and small laugh, moving forward to hug the man.

"Stay safe, kid. I don't want to have to come after you and pull you out of some mess, got that?"

Odette nodded as she let him go, "I'll try not to." With that, she moved up the ramp, BB-11 at her heels. She paused for just a moment, looking over her shoulder at the three and BB-8, wondering if she'd ever see them again. Or if she did, who would be a victim of this rising war. She gave them one last smile, then entered the ship, closing the door and moving to the pilot's seat, taking off into the sky, her mind set on finding the map, so she could continue her training, and save the Jedi she loved.

19 | Light Side User | Jedi Apprentice

Rey knelt there, the blue saber in her hand buzzing with life, her breaths coming out uneven as she tried to regain her composure after once again being forced to yield at Master Skywalker's skills in both light saber wielding and in the Force. She tried to catch her breath as she moved to it down in the grass, looking up to Master Skywalker, "What did I do wrong this time? I've done everything you've said and still I failed."

Luke chuckled, "You did it all, yet your focus should have been on the Force, not in how to swing your saber." He allowed time for the young girl to lift herself back up from the ground before speaking again, "That is enough for today. Go get some rest, Rey. We'll continue our training tomorrow morning."

With that, Luke was off, heading to his own hut and Rey sighed, clipping her saber to her side and moving down the hill toward the other huts that she and the others had been occupying the past two months. As expected, Poe and Finn were out and about, talking and planning for when they would finally come face to face with Kylo Ren again. Leia was likely in her own hut, keeping in contact with the rest of the rebel fleet, commanding them from afar while she assisted Luke in his training of young Rey. After all, two aged Force Users were stronger than one.

Walking over, she sat down on a log beside the two males, sighing, "Well, hopefully your planning is going better than my training?"

The First Jedi Temple

Odette Kenobi
27 | Light Side User | Jedi Master

Nine years. Nine long years that she had been in hiding, training and doing all she could to get stronger in the Force, so that perhaps one day she could go on to take down the First Order and bring Ben home. She missed him...so much. She didn't know what she would do once she came face to face with him again, but she knew that no matter what, she had to try. Even if her attempts failed to bring him back to the light, she owed it to the Ben that she knew to still be in him to give bringing him back to the light everything she had.

She walked through the dark passages of the small Jedi Temple, her saber lighting the way for her. She had at one point thought of adding lights to the halls to help light her way, but could never bring herself to alter the original structure of such an ancient and important piece of Jedi history. BB-11 followed at her heels as she made her way to the meditation room. Upon entering, she moved her hands back to braid back her now long blonde hair back into a single braid that went down to her waist, getting it out of her face so that it wouldn't brush against her and make her loose focus. Once done, she carefully sat down and folded her legs, closing her eyes.

She let the Force lead her, following into her and from through her, so that she could feel. Feel everything around her and upon the surface as this small planet. Sometimes she would even feel beyond this planet, though that was rare.

Just like now.

The face of a dark haired man flashed into her mind, stilling her heart for a moment, a voice echoing in her mind,

"...Od-" A pause, "Kill the past to become who you're meant to be."

She knew that voice. Knew that raven hair and features of that face. Though the expression that she had barely seen in the flash of a image was one foreign to her, at least on that face. The connection ended as quickly as it came, her eyes flying open as she gasped for breath, eyes wide. It wasn't often the Force lead her to Ben. She never meant for it to happen, and it was always just a flash. It always hurt. Each time she saw him, Ben lurked more and more in darkness, further away from the Ben she once knew. Part of her wondered if he could see her as well during those brief moments of connection, but never let the thoughts linger, for fear she would try to reach out to him on purpose.

Sighing, she stood up, "BB-11. I'm heading to bed. Do a patrol around the temple for me?" The little droid beeped happily and rolled off, leaving Odette to herself. She made her way through the temple, to the old resident quarters and into the room she had claimed as her own, part of her choosing this room being the beautiful view from the window of green fields and exotic flowers, as well as wonderful and clear lake. It reminded her of the world she was born on, before it was attacked. And also reminded her of the trail she and Ben used to take when they wanted to be alone. She smiled softly as she gazed out the window for a moment, before moving to her bed and laying down, letting exhaustion from training take her.
.....
Opening her eyes, Odette found herself in a place she never thought she would be in again. A soft and peaceful breeze blew over her skin and hair as her blue eyes gazed over the familiar terrain. It had been years since she had seen this place, yet she remembered it so clearly. Her feet moved, taking to the edge of the lake, gazing out in confusion and concern. Why had her dreams brought her here? To the very place that was now abandoned? A place that once held such beauty and meaning, and while still beautiful, left her feeling sorrowful.

Giggles made their way to her ears, causing Odette to turn in surprise as, coming through the forest along the trail, was a young blonde headed girl, giggling and laughing as she dragged a raven haired boy along, glee and excitement in her eyes, "Come on, Ben! Stop being such a slow poke!"

"I'm coming, Odette. Calm down." Came the cool voice of the young boy being dragged along, though there was hints of enjoyment in his amused gaze as he allowed the girl to pull him down the path and over to the lake's edge.

The two children, young padawans, made their way over to the lake's edge, to which Odette had finally stopped dragging Ben along, letting go of his hand and closing her eyes to breath in the fresh air and feel the Force work around her. After a moment, she opened her eyes and looked over to Ben with a bright smile, "Isn't it wonderful Ben?"

"Yeah, I guess it's okay."

The girl laughed and shook her head, her turn to have an amused expression on her face. Instead of commenting on what he said, she looked out to the lake again, "It can only get more beautiful as we grow. My parents used to tell me that the world is what you make it. And if you really try, you can shape the world, or even the universe, into a colorful and wonderful place." She looked to him again, "You know, my mother used to sing me a song about it too. She had such an amazing voice."

She turned her gaze back to the lake, only to hear Ben's voice speak again, "Let me hear it." When she looked to him in question, he had his face turned away so that she could not see his expression, "Sing me the song."

Blinking in surprise, the little girl paused for a moment, before smiling brightly and giggling, giving him a nod, "Okay."

She kept her eyes on him though he wouldn't look to her as the words flowed softly from her,
I close my eyes and I can see
The world that's waiting up for me
That I call my own

Through the dark, through the door
Through where no one's been before
But it feels like home

They can say, they can say it all sounds crazy
They can say, they can say I've lost my mind
I don't care, I don't care, so call me crazy
We can live in a world that we design

'Cause every night I lie in bed
The brightest colors fill my head
A million dreams are keeping me awake

I think of what the world could be
A vision of the one I see
A million dreams is all it's gonna take
A million dreams for the world we're gonna make"

Moving, the smiling girl crawled over ot where she was on the other side of him and she could look at him, a bright smile on her face,
"There's a house we can build
Every room inside is filled
With things from far away

The special things I compile
Each one there to make you smile
On a rainy day

They can say, they can say it all sounds crazy
They can say, they can say we've lost our minds
I don't care, I don't care if they call us crazy
Runaway to a world that we design

Every night I lie in bed
The brightest colors fill my head
A million dreams are keeping me awake
I think of what the world could be

A vision of the one I see
A million dreams is all it's gonna take
A million dreams for the world we're gonna make"

As Odette looked at him, she reached out, taking his hands on hers, her blue eyes meeting his,
"However big, however small
Let me be part of it all
Share your dreams with me

You may be right, you may be wrong
But say that you'll bring me along
To the world you see
To the world I close my eyes to see
I close my eyes to see

Every night I lie in bed
The brightest colors fill my head
A million dreams are keeping me awake
A million dreams, a million dreams

I think of what the world could be
A vision of the one I see
A million dreams is all it's gonna take
A million dreams for the world we're gonna make"

Her voice grew softer and she leaned forward to press her forehead against his, a bright smile on her face,

"For the world we're gonna make"

Another giggle escaped the girl and she pulled back, only to laugh as she suddenly tackled him into the water, laughter erupting from the both of them as they began splashing and pushing each other into the water.

Seeing such a scene warmed Odette's heart, yet filled her with such sorrow, looking on with sadness in her gaze. She had sung that song to Ben many times after that day, and there had been times Ben would even join in. It was a fond memory and reminded her that, at one time, Ben was shrouded in such an immense amount of light. It made her wish she could go back to that day and keep him just the way he was. As the children's laughs continued to ring out, Odette found herself lifting her gaze to peer over them and across her, freezing when she saw a dark cloaked man standing there, watching the very same scene. She hadn't seen him before now, leaving her to believe that even though he may have seen the whole scene as well, he had just appeared to for her to see.

"...Ben?"

Time had tempered and honed his understanding of the Force. There were visions that were sent by the Force, often messy and indecipherable, stressful and unkind. Then there were visions that invoked a specific emotion, for instance, longing... or regret. The canteen had slid from beneath him like a snatched rug, distorting the grimy pub into a memory. One that he had locked and buried away in the deepest, blackest parts of his mind. Only the Force could have drug it up, made him feel again.

His heart sped yet his face remained stoic as he grasped for straws. The song and Ode- the mistake from his past-snaked their way into his heart and yet, Snoke had taught him plenty, taught him to stay mercy and hesitance with the Dark Side when needed. One of those times were now. He filled his heart with a suffocating sooth while observing the scene. Vibrant grass swayed at the edge of a familiar lake, a single tree, sturdy and crooked provided shade. A young blonde girl sung a hopeful song, to a foolish boy.

Her song was echoed by a youthful duet further in time. A soft moment shared beneath a starry sky, warmed by a campfire. Kylo frowned, scowled really, at the farce. Surely it was the vestiges of Snoke's ploy. Another reminder of his failures.

Garbed in his shadowy cloak, he lost face, seeing the apparition of Odette... of his once-upon-of-treasure. My mistake... Kill the past.

Slowly he stood up from his chair. He looked around, this vision was stronger than the one cast by Snoke, the lake and grass was visible all around him. With a twang of menace, Kylo tossed back his hood, a smooth snarl on his cold, pale features. "What is this? whose work is this ... Luke's? no, Leia's." He thought less of his mother after a pause. It would have been impossible for her to put such a feat to action. Across time and space, using a memory she had never heard of or seen. Never. Impossible.

A heavy feeling shook his soul, cracked his facade, bringing a noticeable confusion to his face. "Odd?"

Anguish washed over him.
