Clock Tower, 2019

"Lord El-Melloi, are you really sure about this? The balance of power here in the Clock Tower will shift without your presence..."
"Reines is already old enough to handle these affairs, Gray. Besides..."

The short snippets of dialogue, barely audible past the closed wooden door of the office that the two present were speaking in, were punctuated by the noise of books and other documents being shuffled around. The prestigious Lord El-Melloi II, known throughout for the Clock Tower for how he drew the potential out of his students, was busy packing whatever it was that he needed away. His assistant, a young woman donning a cloak to cover her face, was standing quietly off to the side, a worried expression on her face as they spoke. El-Melloi himself was staring at a single stack of papers, the light filtering in from the windowsill more than enough to let him read the contents out loud.

"Fusang City: built in the middle of the Pacific by a joint committee made up of the U.S., China, Japan, and... The Clock Tower. To think that the Animuspheres would willing to reveal the existence of magecraft to the UN and set this spark off... It's almost absurd," he sighed, placing the papers off to the side. "Despite retreating to the middle of Antarctica, their actions have set off a long chain of events that have thrown the world into chaos. More than that, though..."

Flipping the page over, Lord El-Melloi stared quietly at the line he had highlighted. This, more than the widespread knowledge of magecraft, stood out to him.

"Servant Summoning. Despite not having the Holy Grail as an anchor, the residents of this multinational city are able to summon Servants. Of course, there is no Holy Grail War, so I still question the validity of this matter, but this is something that the Clock Tower is unable to overlook any further."

"That's why you're being sent over?" Gray asked, quietly packing a few more books into her superior's luggage. "Didn't they have a few representatives over there presiding over everything already?"

"Well, yes. But for some reason, a certain former student of mine had decided to submit a proposal—without my approval, no less—asking that I teach over there for a few years instead. 'If it's him, he'll certainly find the diamonds in the rough among them and turn them into great magi!' What a headache..."

The way that Lord El-Melloi spoke of the 'former student' only brought one face to Gray's mind, and their name wasn't even necessary at this point. But it was by this point that El-Melloi himself had finished his preparations. All that was left, of course, was the flight over.

"Gray, contact me or Reines if anything goes awry en route; we are moving on different routes because of that, after all. Though, knowing Flatt, I'll be getting mail every week regardless," he remarked, closing up his suitcase and putting on his coat. "Well, in any case... We have a flight to catch."

With that said, the soon-to-be professor took his leave, his assistant following close behind.

It was a long flight to the other side of the world, after all.



Fusang City

Following the revelation that magic (actually magecraft) was real in the early 2000s, the UN hastily put together a committee to work alongside the Clock Tower in regulating anything even remotely involved. This, in turn, led to another small arms race between developed nations in search of knowledge—this, in turn, was stopped in its tracks by the various factions making up the Mage's Association. Though they loathed their centuries of secrecy coming to naught, a few more progressive magi decided to take this opportunity to seek alternate paths to the Root. Among them, of course, was Fusang City.
Fusang City is less of a city and more its own nation-state. Created on an artificial island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, the cooperation of multiple first-world nations led to the rapid development of infrastructure; it could be said that the place had essentially sprung up overnight. What sets this place apart, though, is the ability for the residents therein to summon Servants.
Built on top of a miraculous set of overlapping leylines, the summoning ritually normally reserved for combat has instead become a mainstay of life here for the students that make up more than 3/4 of the city's population. Of course, there are measures in place to stop rampage, but the system itself is somewhat more flawed than the one from which it was derived.
As a whole, Fusang City is a land of high-rise apartments and skyscrapers, and of schools and universities that supply the attending students with knowledge of science and liberal arts. As a result of this multinational coalition, though, students are all mandated to learn English, Mandarin, and Japanese in class. For the few with magical circuits or those with potential to become (or are) Masters, though, there are a scant few classes regarding magecraft and the application thereof.
This is not to say that the city is all modern, though; the efforts of a certain few Servants have led to the development of districts more in line with, for example, classical Roman or Sino-Japanese aesthetics. The former, for example, has a giant Colosseum in the center of the region which plays host to various Servant matches depending on the time of year.
In order to keep the city running, though, there stands at the center a giant building that towers over the rest. Comparable in height to the Taipei 101, this building, shielded by multiple barriers and magical wards (thanks to the various Casters contracted to protect it) plays host to the administrative staff of Fusang City, as well as the main AI and computer systems that maintain the city's infrastructure and transportation network.
Students are officially allowed to summon their Servants at age 14, though the end result is based off of both Master aptitude and any possible catalyst. Of course, anyone who knows the ritual can summon a Servant, so this rules is a bit harder to enforce, but the subsequent monetary fine for an 'illegal' Summon is levied on the person in question (or their legal guardian(s)). They keep the Servant, though, so a few impatient (or rich) children tend to ignore the law regardless.


This RP is essentially a mix of Fate/Requiem, A Certain Magical Index, and a bunch of other miscellaneous stories and series. In essence, it's students summoning Servants in a school setting in lieu of actual magecraft. Of course, there's a basic curriculum and specialization regardless, but even so.

For the most part, players will be playing students (who may or may not yet be Masters) and Servants; instructors may be on the table, but focus won't be placed as heavily onto the 'school' aspect here, if at all.

As for Servants... There's only one major set of rules.
Unless you're:
a) Gilgamesh et. al*
b) a Lostbelt King (e.g. Ivan, Qin Shi Huangdi) or from a Lostbelt (e.g. giant horseman Xiang Yu)
c) a collab Servant (e.g. Shiki, Prisma Illya, etc.;) or too silly (e.g. MHX/MHXA)
, anything's fair game.

*Gilgamesh is a VERY odd case. He utterly destroys the balance of any encounter that he comes across, and given that Ea is... Ea... There are notable problems to his appearance even disregarding how much he'd dislike modern society (as compared to Uruk or the Moon Cell). You'd need to go VERY FAR in trying to make a case for him, basically. The same goes for Servants like Enkidu, Karna, Arjuna, etc.;. If you can sell me on why you should be allowed to use them and that you won't go all-in on trying to beat everyone into submission, I'll consider them.

Players are able to make up to two Servants and one Master, though the second Servant necessitates the completion of a Master before anything else. The ideal scenario is that you pair up with one another, but we can a) use NPCs to fill in the gaps and b) self pairing, though a bit awkward, is situationally acceptable.

There's more detail to be fleshed out, but this should suffice for the moment. Any questions, concerns, or what have you, just chime in and ask; I've already got more stuff in the works, so hey, maybe you might ask something that I already have an answer to. Or something.

  • Personality: By her appearance, Benienma is a young girl who appears quite precious. Indeed, this can hardly be considered to be incorrect, but to assume she is immature as her looks would imply would be a mistake. Her demeanor, on most occasions, can be compared to a loyal, polite samurai. An official of the afterlife with a serious and considerate personality, Benienma is a very honest girl, but also one who is willing to be a blade for her master and strike down evildoers to protect the innocent. She does not bear ill-will towards those that are free-spirited, even if she is not among them. Her sense of duty to her Master is paramount. However, in spite of this cool-headed demeanor, in reality Benienma is a very sentimental girl that holds every kindness done for her close to her heart. She is also a proud cook and is happy to dispense(rather harsh, but insightful) cooking lessons. Indeed, she instructed many legendary youkai after their deaths. Due to spending time as an innkeeper(and still maintaining one), Benienma is versed in the art of caring for others as well as the art of the sword, due to taking the stance of someone who supports those who could be called 'good humans'. She takes equal pride in both. While, of course, she is a loyal and serious Servant, there are some things that can result in a more childish response from her. Getting a day off, the swordplay of a certain swordsman, and the Noble Phantasm of a certain Archer can cause this reaction(in positive, negative, and positive ways, respectfully). Even if she is a serious girl, she is not one to hide her happiness.

    • Magic Resistance: A. The cancellation of spells A-rank and below. Even High Thaumaturgy is incapable of penetrating Saber's anti-magecraft defenses.
  • Personal Skills:
    • Eye of the Mind(False): A. The innate ability to detect danger, a technique that can be compared to foresight.
    • Independent Action: A. Even without the support of a Master, Saber is capable of remaining materialized for up to a week before disappearing.
    • Presence Concealment: A. The capability to obscure one's presence as a Servant. At the rank of A, it is possible to disappear completely.
    • Inn Creation: B. The capacity to create a territory for the service of one's Master and allies. Differs from Territory Creation in that it is not the workshop of a magus, but rather an environment designed to serve others. Can be utilized for the rest and healing of those designated as 'guests'.
    • Ventriloquism: EX. Saber is capable of speaking even in spite of the removal of her tongue, due to intensive training. As a result, it is impossible to silence her, nullifying the effects of skills that rely on the cancellation of beneficial effects applied to herself.
    • Basket of Stars(Big): EX. The basket of recompense. By preparing wicker baskets before battle, Saber is capable of creating a basket that, when unsealed, unleashes negative effects upon the targets. These effects include weakening their defenses and their capability to attack, as well as temporarily rendering it impossible to utilize their Noble Phantasm. However, the targets' injuries are also mended by this skill, as it is fundamentally a gift.
    • Basket of Stars(Small): EX. The basket of gratitude. The other half of the coin when compared to the woven baskets that induce a curse upon the enemy. This basket, when unsealed, instead grants a boon to allies. Blades are sharpened by magical energy, mana is replenished, and a measure of Magic Resistance is temporarily applied. Additionally, injuries are mended to an extent. However, the healing capabilities of the basket of gratitude are indiscriminate, and enemies are also relieved of a measure of damage.
  • Noble Phantasm(s):
    • Name: Jyū-Ō Hanketsu - Tsuzura no Michiyuki
    • Rank: A
    • Type: Anti-Unit
    • Appearance: N/A
    • Effects: An enormous wicker basket is summoned, and from it is issued forth a blistering wind and the Hyakki Yagyō in the form of sparrows. This assault disorients the enemy, allowing them to be captured in the basket. While the enemy is captured within, it is almost impossible to escape, and a passage to a space where judgement can commence is created. Within, sparrows representing the ten kings that pass judgement upon the dead preside over Saber's deliberation. After judging the target guilty, Saber unleashes a single slash that pierces the basket and cuts through the one trapped inside. It is not impossible to survive this sentencing, but Servants of the Chaotic Evil alignment are assuredly killed. Additionally, the chance of being slain outright increases for Servants of a Chaotic Alignment, and increases further for those of an Evil Alignment. Even a Servant that survives will be gravely injured and incapable of continuing to fight until their wounds are mended. Perhaps this is the difference between those of pure intent and sinners.

I'll have to look through some servants I like, see who I can actually play, who wouldn't be problematic. As much as I like Berserker Lancelot, dunno if he'd be acceptable for this, nor do I think I can pull him off tbh. I'm used to being the master, not playing a servant, ahaha.

Though I agree Berserker Lancelot would be a bit difficult because he doesn't want to be sane and consumes mana like crazy.

I'd have to see what kind of master I could make as admittedly, we did things a bit weird where I came from. Crossovers were weird. But fun.

And yeah, love Lancelot, he's a big old destructive cinnamon roll, but using him would probably not work out here. I doubt the Roman squad would like him regularly ripping up lampposts. Or stealing their NPs. Suggestions for a servant to do is welcome though, I've got some friends on Discord I asked for help, so hopefully one of them comes up with an idea. Gonna do an existing to save myself some effort, plus I'm not...ready to commit to the Servant OCs I've been working on(like Churchill). Let alone get serious with designing.

Anyways, have a very odd pick for the purposes of story.

  • Name: Meltlilith
  • Class: Alter Ego
  • Appearance:"Humans never seem to learn."
  • Personality: As the Alter Ego of pleasure, Meltlilith is equal parts sadist and a maiden in love. Borne from the emotions of the cast-off Sakura AI within the Moon Cell (which thus became the existence known as BB), Meltlilith cares not for humans or their actions. Rather, her actions show a near-total contempt for those around her, regardless of her status, save the target of her affection (if any). To that extent, Meltlilith is also incredibly harsh to others; as she sees and acknowledges the fact that she is a monster, and thus attempts to create distance from humans and paint herself thus. That being said, though, the incidents that she has found herself wrapped up in have caused her to reconsider her beliefs and, at the very least, respect beauty that exists outside of her perception of the world... At least, to some extent. She still seeks love as a maiden, and pushes her own will upon others without care for their own feelings. Despite her own desires, she dances on the battlefield, a so-called 'monster' of her own volition who acts, lying to herself all the while.
    But if, by some chance, one manages to push past the barriers she has put in place and gives her a reason to love, she shall dedicate her everything to them. Not as a weapon to eliminate enemies, but as a simple maiden desiring the heart of another.
  • Stats:
    • Strength: E
    • Endurance: C
    • Agility: A+
    • Mana: A
    • Luck: B
    • Noble Phantasm: EX
  • Class Skills:
    • Magic Resistance: B. Cancels spells with chants under three verses. Higher-level spells will have difficulty sticking, if at all.
    • Riding: B. The ability to ride vehicles and animals that exist in the world. Barring things such as Phantasmal Species, Meltlilith is able to use such things as she pleases.
    • Independent Action: A. The ability to maintain existence in the world without a Master and act without the direct command of one. This skill also allows Meltlilith to exist for up to a week without being maintained by a Master's mana.
    • Goddess' Essence: B. A skill that can be described as an upgraded version of Divinity; in addition to all the benefits and demerits thereof, this skill maintains her mind, body, and soul. This, in other words, means that she is far more resistant to things such as mental interference and that her form will never change regardless of consumption of food or exercise. As Meltlilith is comprised of multiple divine existences, this skill manifests as such.
    • High Servant: A. An abnormal being (Alter Ego) composed of Artemis, Leviathan, and Sarasvati, this Skill essentially exists to denote Meltlilith, a member of the Sakura Five, as an existence beyond normal Servants.
  • Personal Skills:
    • Crime Ballet: A. As a ballet aficionado, Meltlilith re-configured her combat style to draw influence from the performances she learned of. The graceful movements she executes coupled with her high agility, in short, makes her able to weave through continued assaults without so much as a glance.
    • Sadistic Constitution: A. A skill that strengthens Meltlilith's combat capabilities. The longer she remains in battle, however, the more pleasure that she derives from the pain of others and the less composure she maintains. Her defensive abilities drop in turn, so extended combat can be dangerous if not properly moderated.
    • Melt Virus: EX. A so-called 'cheat skill' derived from Absorption and delivered by means of leg-based piercing attacks. Though ordinarily able to break down or copy even the most terrifying of enemies in order for Meltlilith to consume their abilities for herself, her manifestation here has led to it becoming far less lethal in nature. While higher dosages of the virus are still able to break down enemies and allow Meltlilith to consume them to strengthen herself, smaller amounts will only instead lower the parameters of any enemy who falls victim to it. Additional strikes will both allow Meltlilith to take in the elements broken down by the virus and inject more into the enemy's system.
      Survivors will regain their former abilities provided that they recieve proper care thereafter, but the virus can remain in their system if not treated properly (by either Meltlilith herself or by someone able to nullify its effects). The effects on Meltliliths herself will wear off if she did not consume the entirety of her target, lasting for different amounts of time depending on how much was absorbed.
  • Noble Phantasm(s):
    • Name: Benzaiten's Five-String Biwa — Sarasvati Meltout
    • Rank: EX
    • Type: Anti-Unit
    • Appearance: N/A
    • Effects: Though originally an Anti-Army (or Anti-World) Noble Phantasm, her current Saint Graph limits this to a physical attack. Though it shows its true colors when targeting noncombatants, its usage against other Servants (at least, in this context) becomes a combat dance of sorts. Circling the enemy faster than the human eye can see, consummating in a whirlpool-esque torrent of slashes from her feet that serve to fill her enemies with her virus and crush them mercilessly under her heel—this is how she executes her foes.
      Needless to say, the current her has no particular intention to strike down civilians—doubly so given the state of the world she has been summoned into.
  • Alignment: Lawful Good (Yes, really.)
  • Changes: Closer to her GO iteration in terms of abilities and personality. In other words, Melt Virus has been nerfed and she's less sadistic and selfishly one-sided. Additionally, there is a plot-related reason for as to why she is able to be summoned here, but that will become a plot point later on. Probably.

Class wise? I've always been partial to archers, riders, and casters.

Anyways, after a bit of thought, I'm leaning towards Tesla and Caster Edison. Edison wouldn't be his FGO counterpart since that timeline has all the US presidents fusing with him, and only for that one scenario. I don't think its needed, unless you feel otherwise. That or Charles Babbage, if any of them are deemed fine. More modern I know, but I have a soft spot for those three. Otherwise, if you know of any Riders, Casters, or Archers you might like to see, I can try and see if I can pull them off.

I've also given thought to making myself a Master, and in that, adapting one of my characters to the setting. Would the daughter of an archeologist mage turned tech mogul with possible dirty money ties be accepted in some form? Asking since that's a variant of my personal OC I've played in a few rps, and I could adapt her. I'm not sure what her origin or element would be, since I don't think there's magecraft associated with technology in canon, but I may be wrong. I'm more versed with the surface level stuff, like how the Grail Wars work, the nature of the Beasts, summoning, class system, and other factors. Less so with deeper stuff like the specifics behind some mystic codes, origins, and element stuff. Like I get Avalon being why Emiya has sword for element and origin, but otherwise, yeah.

Sorry if this was a bit to read, I was busy thinking in Ancient Medicine and Ancient Cities.

@DocRock: Either Tesla or Edison would be fine, as would Babbage! Unless @PKMNB0Y says otherwise but since I talk to him pretty regularly I don't think he would. ^^; ... Er... don't take my word as final though I'm trying to be helpful but not the GM. ^^;

Magecraft is pretty dissociated with technology, but I think Earth would give her an edge with spells relating to metal?

Yeah, I know how technology and magecraft usually end up being at odds in most cases. Science vs. magic and all.

And thanks for the feedback, I'm pretty much all ears anyway for ideas and stuff. I usually play ideas I know I can work within easily enough, partly why I was leaning towards the modern scientist boys, since well, yeah. Too bad Edison nor Tesla will answer my gacha rolls.

Well, I mean... You could wait for the Meiji Ishin event, since both Tesla and Edison get a rateup then.

But yeah, I don't really mind either. Just be careful about being able to commit to ham if you decide on lionman.

Copied most of this direct from the Typemoon Wiki below, hope that's fine! I uh, only realized how weird Edison gets after I took a look at his Parameters, and did a double take. Additionally, unsure what parts of him the Mystic Code from FGO buffed(nvm, checked, and it just buffed his Territory Creation and Item Creation as far as I can tell), but I can make changes as needed. After this, going to work on my master app.

I do have a pair of further questions regarding masters.

Are there any magecraft off limits? I'm going with Earth/Metal stuff for my master's primary magecraft, but I'm wondering if there's anything I should avoid if I wanted a second focal point. Also might need help with origin stuff, wee.

Additionally, are FCs that might have elements that make the person seem not human permitted, if its noted to be cosmetic or otherwise? Asking since one of the FCs I'm looking at has horns, but could be chalked up to surgery(kind of scary but in line if I go the Blood Iron Princess route for this idea of mine(don't worry, just a master with a bit of an ego)), or just a costume piece. Otherwise, I'll keep my eyes open for a suitable FC that works. Red hair can be weird to work with sometimes. Also guess this is a third question, but is there an upper limit for how old a master in the city can be if a player character? I'm not planning an old hag master, young, but I was thinking early adulthood range.

Master done, I'll probably fix stuff up as asked. I'm ill, and I wasn't sure what else would fit. Some information is unclear because I felt it wouldn't be important right away. Such as specifics about her father and his adventures(I adapted an old character who was like that to be her father).
