Vinnie's gut was screaming at her to not trust Cal. She didn't like the Straw Man argument Cal was making and she knew that Cal had done something to spook Zarina. Zarina was weird and crazy, she loved blood and cutting herself open, so why would she be afraid of needles? And did pharmacists even use needles? Vinnie found Cal's story weirder and weirder. Didn't pharmacists just dispense medication? She couldn't remember if there ever really were a situation where they'd have to give someone a shot, maybe if a diabetic person collapsed and needed insulin? "Careful you don't break something sliding down that slippery slope!" Vinnie exclaimed. "And Greenie is weird and loves blood and fluids, so unless you tried to put a needle through her eye, I don't think your story makes sense."

She was clearly outvoted though and Vinnie reluctantly decided to let it go for the moment. She wasn't going to sleep around Cal. She made mental plans to see if she could barricade the door as a means to protect herself. She didn't know anyone here, except for Sophia who was seeming a bit more familiar by the moment, to the extent that Vinnie actually believed she was familia. She huffed, letting herself switch subjects. "I don't think I really have any skills, besides talking - and that isn't really a skill, so I'm stumped, but we know that Cal has the skill of traumatizing children and seeming untrustworthy soooo there is that. Oh and I look hot af in hats."
Raynor didn't make a comment about the robot Zarina decided to cuddle like a baby. He had seen her do stranger things so far today. He didn't feel like he was a good source of emotional advice, but something prompted him to stay with Zarina, a self appointed guardian. "Don't apologize," he said, crossing his arms. "Whatever Cal did, fuck her. You don't have to play nice with everyone. In fact, things are easier if you don't. Look out for yourself. That's what counts at the end of the day."

"That's right," Cal said when Manny and Sophia voiced their agreement, though it sounded to her as though it was less out of passion or loyalty and more out of analysis. Not that it mattered much to her; as long they were defending her, she'd put them down as allies. Though Manny didn't particularly strike her as friend material. In fact, she wasn't sure she could picture Manny being friends with anyone. She let out a sigh as she dropped her hands back to her side. "We shouldn't throw stones 'till we figure out what our houses are made of, yeah?" Now that she was out of immediate danger, she glanced over to the exit of the atrium. Part of her wanted to go check up on the little weirdo, but that part was stopped by her conscious mind. The kid probably didn't want to see her, though she couldn't work out why. Not to mention her fast friendship with Ted Bundy Jr., who Cal was sure would not hesitate to make good on his threats. When Sophia asked about skills, Cal turned her attention back on her. Vinnie, though, as helpful as ever, decided insulting her was a better use of her time than putting her own skills forward.

"Oh, fuck off. No one looks good in hats. They were only invented to keep ancient helmetsmiths in business during times of peace," she snarled, jutting her head out at Vinnie like an animal trying to intimidate an oncoming predator. The defensive stance didn't last long as she pulled her head back, her toothy frown fading as she looked back to Sophia. "Other than my medical knowledge? I'm not completely sure, to be honest. I think I'm good with people...well, relating to them at least. Reading them, feeling what they might be feeling. And I'm good under stress, though Miss ADD over there is testing that one." Cal decided it would be best to leave out the little bit of her brain devoted to constantly spinning out lies. Trust wasn't exactly something she had an abundance of, and revealing that her head was a deceit factory wasn't going to help. Her lips curled into a frown as she let out a huff, her fingers flexing. "Was anyone's sentimental bedside gift a pack of ciggies by chance, because I could fuckin' go for a smoke."

Location: Atrium Pond
Skill: Swimming

As Luke dove deeper into the water he noticed that there was some seaweed near the grate that they hadn't noticed from the shore. That didn't worry him though, even if it was odd that it was in freshwater. Though the water was icy it wasn't chlorinated so he could see easily. It was good water to swim in, minus the near-freezing temperatures.

He arrived at the grate and checked the type of screws that held it in. It looked like the same type as the ones from the grate at the mouth of the river. As he examined the grate one of the seaweed plants wrapped around his leg. Luke didn't notice until he started back to the surface and couldn't rise to the surface. His deep breath of air was starting to turn bad and he needed to get to the surface.

Luke yanked on the rope asking Kyle to pull him out. He trusted Kyle's upper body strength. He knew the man was powerfully built. And he felt the rope tighten and try to pull him free, but the hold the seaweed had on him was stronger. Luke's vision started to dim. He had never been afraid of the water. Only of bleeding.

His body begged him to take a breath, but he knew that would be certain death. If he could just get free. He reached down at the seaweed and tried to pull it off his leg, but he couldn't.

Atrium

"Well I know my skill set now." Kyle said as he held the rope it was securely wrapped around his arm and a section around his leg. If anything pulled the rope farther than he wanted he'd either be going with it or stop it from dragging Luke. He was keeping his eye on the water.

"I just know food it feels like." Gordon said. "Everything I seem to know is somehow related to food." Gordon added. He tilted his head and then said, "I went to Cordon Bleu. I was in a few episodes of cooking shows like Iron Cheif. It isn't all there. I can tell there are gaps, but it is coming back."

"Science is my skill set. That comes to me easily." Noah said. "I don't remember anything else. Just numbers and formula and stuff like that." He explained.

"I know I'm military and in the medical field. I have the tattoo to prove it." Manny said lifting his sleeve to show the caduceus tattoo on his deltoid. He also flicked his dog tags out from under his shirt. "Sorry Cal, no cigarettes."

"I'm with Vinnie, I'm not certain what my skill set is. It seems all jumbled. Like a little here and a little there, but nothing calls me. Well except the camera that Vinnie has in her room. And the trees. But I don't know things about the trees like I'm a scientist. They just feel like home." As Tessa talked the rope was pulled on frantically. Kyle pulled and nothing happened. Tessa looked down into the water. She could see Luke there struggling. "Something has him!" She shouted.

Manny moved over to help and pulled the rope from in front of Kyle. Together they pulled Luke out of the water. He didn't move.

Galley

The Roomba made sounds and tried to suction water off of Zarina, but since it couldn't move only the one spot was dry.

Sophia Harris

Sophia looked towards the others as some of them listed the skills that they could remember and what they knew what they could do and were capable of. Cooks were really useful and making food to keep morale up, Cal some kind of medical expert, as well as Manny and being in the military. And Noah being some kind of scientist or really good with math, she wasn't sure of Vinnie or Tessa however, but she knew that she was good with engineering somehow. "I don't know then, usually people try and get the best people in their field to do something for the government or military." Sophia said giving a slight shrug turning her attention over towards the pond, hearing Tessa yelling for someone to help Luke.

Seeing both Kyle and Manny pulling Luke out from the water Sophia quickly ran over towards the water getting in and helped bring Luke over towards the shore. She checked for a pulse and couldn't feel anything, Sophia somehow knew what she was doing as she started to do some CPR on Luke, and doing some chest compressions. She tilted his head back and started to press her lips to his mouth while pinching his nose. It didn't take to long for her to bring him back, she brought Luke back and gently helped him into a sitting position. "Are you alright?" She asked looking over at Manny and waved him over, he was the medical expert she just knew what to do really.

Something snapped in Vinnie as Cal, the obvious member of the Them among them, snapped at her about the historical origins of hats. Had this been a cartoon, smoke would have been pouring out of Vinnie's ears as her mind rapidly kicked into hyper focus, a blessing and a curse of her ADHD. "You don't even know what you're talking about - that's complete bullshit! Ugh, there's so much lore behind hats that you are completely ignorant of! One of the earliest hats dates back to the Bronze Age and belonged to this dude named Ötzi. His body was frozen like Captain America and found in a mountain near Austria and Italy, wearing his hat! It was this sick looking thing that resembled a Russian fur hat without the straps, made out of several pieces of bearskin stitched together. It even had a chin strap so his chin wouldn't get cold when he was, you know, a popsicle!"

"Oh and there's more than just Ötzi, in the Middle Ages hats were used for indicators of social status but also to single out different groups, which isn't great and it's frankly terrible that something as cool as hats could be used to mark people who were different so they could be ridiculed or hurt, but your thing about helmetsmiths is so off base it makes my ears bleed! Like did you know that Milliner comes from a little city in Italy called Milan? That was THE hat capital of the world back in the 18th century. It was also an occupation open to women! Millinery wasn't just making hats and bonnets - you got to pick out the accessories for the entire ensemble, like lace and stuff! So it was one of the ways that a woman could be financially independent, like the Italian spinsters basically! So hats aren't about keeping men in power, they are literally about liberating women!!!! Like hellooooo the Red Hat Ladies called, they want their recognition back! And don't even get me started on hat pins, one of the most amazing inventions known to womankind!"

Vinnie didn't remember who the Red Hat Ladies were, but she knew their name and it served her point. It wasn't like Cal could fact check her anyways. Her cheeks were a bit red from the passionate speech she had just given and Vinnie paused for a moment. How did she know so much about hats? Was she the Mad Hatter? Maybe she was some sort of hat model or a hat designer? She did look amazing in a hat. That must be it!

Just as she had been about to eagerly shout and share that information, something more important happened that talking about being a professional hat model. Luke was pulled out of the water looking dead and Vinnie's eyes widened as she gasped, staring at him. Her maybe-cousin Sophia managed to revive him though and Vinnie let out an audible sigh of relief. She didn't want to see someone else die.
"Do you want to head on back there, kid?" Raynor asked, eyeing the roomba. It seemed to have just dried part of Zarina and he hoped she wouldn't let it near her hair. Zarina's green hair could have easily been mistaken for mold, though he wasn't going to tell her that. Her hair was her problem and not his.

"I guess that is one way to look at everything... I just don't know..." she said, before she stopped talking all together and her eyes went wide. Setting the space Roomba down on the ground, she slowly stood up from the ground, not even really looking at Raynor, or the Roomba, or anything really in particular as the gears started turning in her brain. After a few moments, everything seemed to click, and she started to freak out a little bit. More then a few memories came rushing back to her, as quite literally all of her memories returned to her in a rush, as if they couldn't wait to come back.

"I-I-I-" she stammered out, looking a bit confused as she set her mug of hot cocoa on a table in the galley as she looked right at Raynor now, "I remember everything."

With those last words, she raced past him and instantly headed for the Atrium where everyone else was again. Seeing the chaos that was going on around Luke, she couldn't help but instantly be concerned for him, "Hey, is he okay?" she asked, not too sure what else to say as she glanced around and her eyes eventually rested on Cal for a moment, before she looked away, pulled the blanket off of her and held it towards Luke, "Here, looks like he needs it more then I do..." her mind was still wandering, and she didn't even look towards Cal before she spoke again. "You're a drug dealer, before I really knew that I thought you were my friend. Instead you manipulated me into helping you more then once in several of your damn plans since all you cared about was the fact that I was a hacker. So how about you and I stay far away from one another and that will make things so much damn easier for me in the long run."

She wanted nothing to do with Cal, as her memories were coming back to her, the memories of feeling alone after her parents' deaths and her older brothers trying to always make her feel better about it. Something else stuck out in her mind, and that was the very last thing she remembered before waking up in that room. She had been walking home, when there was a bright light, and suddenly, there was nothing. Just waking up in the room in the strange station or wherever it was that they were.

"Shit, that's a shame," Cal replied when Manny displayed his sentimental item, which was, to her displeasure, not a pack of cigarettes. She flexed her fingers once again, finally finding contentment in shoving them in her pockets, lightly tracing the edges of the items that filled them. Her glance, which shifted between looking at the people around her and looking into the water where Luke had jumped in, was snatched away by Vinnie when she began her rant. Cal's lips were pursed into a small, uncertain frown as her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Her own comment on the issue had been a throwaway one, not really caring one way or the other, so she certainly wasn't expecting Vinnie to go off on her. "Right then...uh, my bad, I guess?" she said, though it didn't seem at all genuine, and more like she just wanted to move onto a different topic. Unfortunately for her, that different topic was Luke, being dragged onto shore with the mobility of a lifeless piece of wet meat. She watched with worry as Sophia rushed over to him, trying to revive him. Luckily, it only took a few moments before Luke she managed to do so, which caused Cal to let out a sigh of relief. The relief didn't last, as immediately after he was out of harms way, Zarina began to speak. At first, Cal didn't realize that the words were directed at her. But after a few moments, her mind processed the words and her heart sank. Even as the girl unraveled Cal's supposed history, it did nothing to unclog her memory. But it fit. It fit like a jigsaw piece she didn't want to be part of the puzzle because it turned the whole picture into something horrible. The piercings, the tattoos, the youth, the attitude. None of them fit with a pharmacist. But all of them fit a drug dealer. She was quiet for a few moments, before shaking her head.

"Listen kid, I think you've made a mistake...that didn't spark anything, not a memory, not a feeling, not nothing...someone should get Luke a blanket. I'm gonna get myself a smoke." With that, she briskly walked passed Zarina and out the room. What she had said had been mostly true. She didn't have any memories about anything that Zarina had said. But what she did have was a pit the size of a boulder resting in her stomach, accompanied by a deep sorrow she couldn't explain. And she didn't want to explain it either. She just wanted to get out of her head. Despite this desire, thoughts, both coherent and incoherent, bounced around her head. When she got into the galley, Raynor was the last one in there, and she made sure to put a decent amount of distance between him and herself. When she got to the dispenser, she began to scroll through it. As she did, she began to speak. "The kid's in the atrium. Don't let her get into the water again, yeah? Luke, that fit guy with the American accent, he almost died in there, and he seems like he's got loads more experience than the kid's got. Speakin' of which, I'm sure he'd appreciate if you grabbed him a blanket on your way back." Her voice was low, but loud enough for the man to hear. As she finished up tapping, two items got dropped out of the machine: A pack of cigarettes and a rather fanciful lighter. She unceremoniously nabbed the two of them up, bumping out a cigarette and putting it between her lips. As soon as it got there, she knew it wasn't going to be a great smoke, but it would have to do. Lighting the end, she took a deep breath in, inhaling the smoke.

Luke was on his side coughing up water and gasping for air. Finally, he said, "Thank you, Sophia. You saved my life." He took the offered blanket from Zari and wrapped it around his shoulders shivering a bit. "There are some plants at the bottom of the pond. I've never seen anything like that. Admittedly I usually sawm in pools, not ponds in spaceships. But it seemed like the plant didn't want me to surface." He shook his head, then looked at Kyle and Manny. Kyle still had the rope, but Manny had dropped his end and had moved to Luke's side checking his heart rate against his steady counting. "Thanks, I know you guys pulled me out of there. If we hadn't had the rope..." He trailed off and glanced around at those gathered near the pond. "Uh, I feel like I missed something."

"Oh, just the usual amnesiac drama. Zarina got all her memories back too. She and Kyle remember everything apparently. And Gordon is one good Crème Brûlée behind them." Tessa said. Manny helped Luke to his feet.

"You had us scared for a moment there Luke. I suggest you get something hot into you and warm-up too. Let's hold off on anymore exploring for a little bit." He eyed Zarina as he said it, hoping she'd pick up her bag and go back to tinkering with the Roomba rather than clambering around in pipes full of near-freezing water.

"Well, tragically a near-death experience doesn't seem to be the way to waken the memories." Luke chuckled, but his smile contorted a little. But then he shook his head, water dripping. "Forgive me, I'm gonna swing by my room and see about a hot shower." Kyle undid the rope from Luke so that he could walk freely and then Luke started down the hall and turned into the room with the 10 on the plaque.

Tessa continued into the Galley. At the machine, she ordered another carafe of coffee and enough cups for everyone. She glanced at Cal with her cigarette but decided to not say anything. "Want some coffee? I made it for Luke, but I wanted a cup too. I thought others might too." She said offering a cup to both Ryanor and Cal.

The Roomba finished its cleaning and then returned to its hole in the wall.

Atrium

Manny looked at the group gathered in the Atrium still. "I understand that you're all freaked out, especially at Cal right now, but we can't afford too much in-fighting. We might have to rely on each other to get out of here. I'm not saying to forgive her." He said the last bit directly to Zarina. "Hell, quite the opposite. I don't trust anyone here, but I trust you all a whole lot more than I do whoever put us here. This place is more dangerous than I assessed at first." Manny was frowning. "Something is going on and I don't know what."

"They must be watching us. The question is what do They want?" Kyle cast his gaze around the Atrium as if he was looking for something, but whatever it was he apparently didn't find it. "Sophia, that note you found was in the bathroom, right? Maybe They are polite and aren't watching us in there and that's why whoever had that room last left the note there. It survived cause They didn't find it. They probably didn't know to look there."

Sophia Harris

Sophia looked at Luke and gave him a smile and nodded towards him. "Anytime." She said as she stepped to the side letting Manny look over Luke who told them what he had found under the water. That made sense if they wanted to keep them all in here they couldn't try and find a way to get out of the atrium through the underwater vent that was there. "Then lets just say that we shouldn't let anyone down there ever." She said figuring that it would be safer for everyone, she turned to stare at Vinnie as she started to spout off some random fact about hats, which didn't even interest her in the slightest either. "Thanks for the little bit of hat info, but it doesn't really help with our current situation though." Sophia said towards Vinnie, even if she was blood related to her the little bit of hat info was really useless.

Then Zarina came into the room who apparently now started to remember everything which was a good thing, as she looked a Cal who was apparently a drug dealer. Sophia started to trust her less and less now at that information was out there, but they were all here together and they had to work together as well to try and find out how to get out of here. Sophia started to make her way back over towards the galley with everyone else and took a seat, she had set down the picture that was in her room of her husband as she remembered his name was John but not much beyond that.

Sophia lightly ran a hand over where her wedding band would have been before Kyle spoke to her and nodded slightly. "Yeah that was in Room 10." Sophia said as she started to look around the galley to try and find any cameras there, but she couldn't see any. "I don't see any in here, but they could be hidden however. But yeah safe to assume that they didn't bug our bathrooms."

Raynor hurried after Zarina - not at a run or anything mind you, more of a concerned stroll. His face didn't show any indication of surprise as she accused Cal of being a drug dealer - or when he took in the fact that apparently Luke had almost died when they were gone. He snorted a little bit at the thought that Luke wasn't stronger than a tiny girl. However, he sensed it wasn't the time to point that out to Luke and open an examination of his masculinity.

Vinnie had a smug sense of satisfaction as Zarina basically confirmed that Cal was bad news. Drug dealers broke the law and caused horrible addictions that ruined families. She didn't know how Cal knew that she took adderal with this information - Vinnie figured it could also have been a lie, since she was fairly certain she was neurotypical. "Ha, I knew it! Vinnie one, Cal zip. There's no court here so we skip right to the imprisonment phase!" She didn't trust Cal and she double didn't trust her now, knowing that she was a criminal. What was to stop Cal from betraying them or selling them out? "... Or I guess community service, since apparently we're cool with working with people who we know aren't trustworthy and could potentially be working for Them. I bet she could have even cut a deal or something! That's what drug dealers do right? They cut things? Isn't that how it is... like you cut a key of coke, right? Am I using that word right?"

"Great, so we can take a dump without Them listening to us," Raynor commented roughly. He doubted they could hold meetings inside of bathrooms to discuss this situation - and if They were listening in on them discuss this right now, They knew to bug the bathrooms. He moved with the others back to the galley, raising a slight eyebrow as Cal filled him in on everything he had just seen. "If you add a shot of rum, I'll take it," he said to Tessa.

Vinnie moved back with the others to the galley as well. "Wait, so for those who have their memories working, what's the last thing you remember? Was their a blinding light in the sky like in Marvel movies? Did ET phone home? What was the date? Did you get some sort of notice from the government that we had been sold to Them? Do you know what They look like - like were They behind the entire Area 51 UFO alien bodies thing? Or Roswell?"

"Like hell I'm going to be anywhere in the same sort of room as her," Zari grumbled as most everyone else seemed to just leave and be perfectly fine with being around Cal at all. It annoyed her to no end, and she was a bit annoyed that everyone also seemed to want to just go along and not explore the water and vents. Sure, it made sense since someone nearly died only a few moments ago, but she didn't very much care. Despite how everyone treated her, she actually was an adult, she was 18 and could take care of herself. "I'm going back into the vent..."

With those last words she made sure that she still had the tool for the vent and her flashlight and headed straight for the vent. Manny stopped her before doing a really simple and quick square knot around her using the rope and giving her a few instructions about tugging on the rope three times in order to get him to pull her back out, but she didn't really care as she climbed right back up into the water, taking a bit of a deep breath, before she started making her way along the vent.

She managed to make her way back to where the grate was from before, and she settled herself there for a moment as she used the tool to open the grate up, allowing her to continue onwards. Shining the flashlight around, she could see that the pipe continued farther ahead, and there looked to be a coupling spot of some sort. However, she also could see that there was a spot where the pipe went upwards before the coupling. Another thing she noticed was that the water was definitely colder then before. She shivered a bit as she tried to go forwards, but the cold was starting to get to her, so she wasn't able to continue onwards. Zari stayed put where she was, not heading backwards, or forwards, figuring she needed a little bit of time to get used to the water.

Cal didn't try to hide her annoyance as a good chunk of their little space circus followed her into the galley. In all honesty, she had been hoping to get a minute alone, just her and her thousand thoughts. Maybe a little piece and quiet would be enough to dislodge whatever was stuck between her and her memories. But the others made it obvious that that wasn't going to be happening anytime soon, so she turned her attention towards them. Vinnie was the first to get it, with her immediate cry to jail her, the second one of the day. One more, and it'd start getting annoying. Cal brought her cigarette up to her lips in an attempt to calm herself down, and it seemed to half-work.

"There's no laws in space, dipshit. Even if I was a drug dealer, which there's no concrete evidence to support, I still wouldn't be a criminal," she replied, the only emotion in her voice being slight perturbance. With that comment, she brushed off Vinnie and glanced towards Tessa, giving her a shake of her head. "I'm good, mate. Thanks for the offer, though." She wasn't going to lie to herself; it was nice to have someone talk to her in a non-accusatory manner, even if it was to offer a cup of coffee. Her eyes scanned the room as she took another inhale of smoke, and when she counted heads, she noticed a couple missing, though there was only one that jumped out at her. "Where's the kid? Prob'ly just coolin' off. Someone should go make sure she's not about to blow up the bloody ship."

Luke was processing his mortality in the shower for a few moments before he rejoined the rest of the group in dry clothing. His hair was still a little damp. Tessa shoved a cup of coffee into his hand, which he was honestly grateful for. He noticed that not everyone was in the Galley. Specifically the kid and Manny. Raynor looked irritated, which wasn't that different from what he had seen the guy look like so far. Tessa had given him a cup of coffee too, Luke could guess that she had spiked it for him. There was a palpable tension in the room.

Luke had walked in as Kyle was talking. "Well, I can't say I saw any of Them. But it was a bright light. Sort of the classic alien abduction. I don't remember talking with government spooks before. After the flash of light, it is blank up until we woke up here. So either those memories are gone, or I have none. As for the date, it was March fifteenth, 2021."

"I don't remember." Gordon said, he was frowning. "I only feel like I remember big things, not everything. There are some gaps"

Tessa seemed to suddenly have her memories return. She almost dropped the carafe of coffee, as she was heading out the door back to the Atrium to see if Manny, Noah, or even Zarina wanted some. She leaned against the wall for a moment collecting herself. Tears falling down her face and she turned to face Vinnie, "I know how we know each other. We were roommates in college for a year. I took photography and videography with you. You work for Buzzfeed, that's why you know such weird things. You do videos on it. Even after we went our separate ways I watched your videos. I have a girlfriend, Mia." Luke raised an eyebrow, he wasn't totally surprised that Tessa was at least a little gay, but he was surprised at how she rambled at Vinnie and then just added, almost nonchalantly, that she had a girlfriend. "The trees are the same ones as back home, redwood. That's why I felt connected to them. But yeah, the same thing. I was hiking. It was March fifteenth, early in the morning. I'm here, but she isn't. She was with me." Tessa added, almost as an afterthought, and then headed down the hall.

"What is the plan from here?" Luke asked those left in the Galley.

"Well Cal isn't totally wrong. Space goes by maritime law. At least according to the movie 'The Martian'." Kyle said. "I certainly don't think I have jurisdiction here. However, we have to acknowledge that Zarina remembered enough about Cal to know why she hadn't trusted her, and it is a valid reason. I think we should respect Zarina's desires and keep Cal and her apart. But even still I don't think it is fair to lock Cal up. I do believe people can change and reform." His voice was heavy and his expression was nearly unreadable but then Kyle winced and looked to Cal. "Sorry if it feels like I'm ignoring your existence in the room. I'm not. It is however obvious that both Vinnie and Zarina are not comfortable working with you, Cal. So I suggest those of us who are comfortable working with Cal stay here in the Galley and attempt to find a way out of here. Those of us who aren't comfortable with her can go back to the Atrium and try to see what we can learn there." Kyle didn't particularly look pleased. Luke didn't know what was bothering the cop. If Luke didn't know that Kyle had already gotten all his memories back he would think the guy was starting to remember something.

Atrium

Zarina could feel the water around her pull at the rope until it was loose. Manny thought she was coming back through the pipe toward him. Had she reached the end of what she could find?

Noah also had most of his memories returned. His heart broke. His older brother was dead, murdered, and the culprit had never been found. Noah had just tried to get on with his life and had gotten into science to explain the universe. That was why his head was filled with numbers, it put everything in its place. He didn't notice Tessa until she handed him a cup of coffee.

"Thank you." He said and saw that her face was still a little damp. "It was a cruel thing that They did taking our memories. Allowing us a brief respite from our demons and then it all coming back in one blow." He shook his head. "Now I know the faces and names of all I left behind and those who had left before."

Location: Galley -> Atrium

Sophia looked at everyone once more as she started to wonder if there were other ways to get out of here aside from the two water vents that Zari and Luke managed to find. She looked down at the wedding picture for a moment as she started to get images in her head as she started to remember just about everything right now. Where she grew up, what she actually did for a living as Sophia stared at Vinnie seeing her a lot growing up as well, they were definitely cousins then. "I remember just about everything as well, I worked as a foreman at a construction company." Sophia said as she stood up, but she was missing only two days before just waking up here which she thought was really off. "Though I am missing two days I just remember going to bed on the thirteenth." Sophia said looking over at Cal and Kyle for a moment, so long as Cal didn't do anything shady to her or anyone that was fine with her.

"As long as you don't do anything shady I could care less what you do." Sophia said giving a slight shrug. "I'm going to see if I can find another way out of here aside from the two water vents." Sophia said as she made her way back into the Atrium again and started to look around the area itself which looked like it was all closed off. She turned to look over at both Noah and Tessa who seemed to remember everything as well. "So, I kind of have a theory, if the space roombas in there clean the galley there should be some in here right?" Sophia asked looking around for something to create a mess. "Where's Zari?" Sophia finally asked, she was getting flooded with memories to notice that Zari had dashed off into the water vent again.

Skills: Trivia Knowledge and History
Raynor realized that Zarina hadn't gone back with them and he groaned. For a brief moment, he asked himself why he cared about the kid - he certainly didn't care about the wellbeing of anyone else present. Maybe he was a bodyguard who specialized in protecting children or something. It would explain his muscles. It didn't make much sense to him though, as he really didn't care about other people. He just didn't want to see the little kid of the group hurt and in pain. He knew he wasn't a pedophile, it wasn't anything like that.

"There's no laws in space?!" Vinnie repeated. Had this been a cartoon, smoke would have been going out her ears. Just like before with the history of the hat, Vinnie suddenly had an onslaught of knowledge pour into her brain and spew out her mouth. It wasn't organized or anything - she just blurted it as it came to her, allowing everyone a realtime look at her thought processes. "Okay first of all, space law dates back to 1919 and comes from international law saying countries ruled the airspace above them. Then in 1944, there was the Chicago Convention, where everyone was like yeah that still sounds chill to me! Oh and you know the dog, Sputnik? Him being launched got the US to pass the Space Act, founding fucking NASA! Oh and there also was the creation of international space policy during the Cold War, since y'know, the next logical steps after bombs and nukes is to go all Star Wars on people's ass and raze countries with a mini Death Star."

"In fact, you ableist piece of shit, the 1967 Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space, Including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies clearly states that if a country launches a spacecraft up into space, their laws apply to what happens on the spaceship. There are clearly laws in space! It's not like the wild west where you can go around biting people's boobs and drinking whiskey and shooting guns at pigs! Oh and before you go but but but aliens made this ship!, there's the 1998 Intergovernmental Agreement that basically says whatever country the criminal is from, they get jurisdiction. So there IS law in space and it applies directly to YOU whether you're aware of it or not!"

She took a breath. Each second just made her want to be one of the first people to slap a bitch in space - and per the extraordinary amount of Space Law that Vinnie knew, the United States would be the one to deal with her assaulting someone. That was fine. The US Courts loved white women slapping people. Besides, new information about her past came at her! Tessa claimed that Vinnie had been her roommate, they took classes together - that definitely explained the camera from her room - and Vinnie worked for Buzzfeed. She tilted her head slightly. "I wonder if I did a video on Space Law... And if I didn't use a single clip from Star Wars, then I'm going to have to give myself a lobotomy as punishment. Ooo and for the hat video, I could have tried on a bunch of different and weird hats! That would've been so fun!" No memories were clicking in for her - just fantasies of how she could make super cool videos.

With the proposed plan to split things up, Vinnie didn't need to think twice about where to go. She held up the middle finger at Cal and walked on out of the galley, heading back to the atrium. Raynor wasn't that far behind her, going to look for the kid, figuring she might have gone and done something stupid.

She noticed the rope slip off and start going back down the way that she had come from, a small part of her thought to try and grab it, that the others would freak out if the rope popped up but she wasn't connected to it. However, a small voice in the back of her mind was telling her no, that she didn't care about what they thought. They were perfectly fine with Cal walking around when they knew that she couldn't be trusted. Either that, or they just didn't believe her just because she was younger then the rest of them. "I'm not a kid, I'm an adult, I know what I'm doing and can take care of myself... I am not going back there yet, and screw them if the rope goes all the way back to them without me. I'm going to figure this out, now, and then maybe pop back up later. Just ugh!"

Taking a deep breath, she forged ahead onwards, her footing was a bit sloppy and it took her a few moments to get going before she managed to get to where the pipe went upwards, and she saw a ladder. Looking upwards, she slowly began her climb, and soon found herself at a hatch of sorts, meaning that at least when it came to this pathway she had reached the end of the line. "Well... Here goes nothing," she muttered as she tried to open it up. It took her second attempt at it to get it to open up, and doing so she popped her head up and shone her flashlight around a little bit to get a better view of it. She found herself in a rather large area with a catwalk of sorts near her leading to larger tanks, and she saw that she was in a really large pipe of sorts that was connected to a lot more pipes. This area was waaaaaaaay too big for just the little parts that she had seen so far.

"...What the fuck?" was all she managed to say, despite no one being around her to hear. This place was clearly a lot bigger then it appeared.

"We don't even know if I need to 'change and reform'. All we've got is the word of a thirteen-year-old," Cal told Kyle, the air quotes audible in her voice, even if they weren't pantomimed. Her words came out in the form of a croak, cracked and quiet. She wasn't looking at him, or anybody, for that matter, when she talked. Her eyes were glued on glowing tip of her cigarette. "Go right ahead, mate. Don't much mind if you pretend I don't exist. Seems like everyone would prefer it that way." Her assertion was almost immediately cemented by Vinnie's rant, most of which went unreacted to. Cal did raise her eyebrow when the phrase 'ableist piece of shit' left her mouth, though. Even without her memories, there were a number of insults she'd direct at herself, but ableist was not one. She didn't have the energy to try to decipher what had led Vinnie to that conclusion, so instead she halfheartedly pointed at the girl with her cigarette.

"Case and point," she mumbled, before taking a long, quiet drag. After a few moments of unbearable silence, she let out a smoke-filled sigh. "Miserable cunt..." she murmured, tapping the end of her cigarette and letting the ash flutter to the floor. She finally looked up to the remaining members of their little crew, who, by decree of Kyle's little division decision, were the only ones who could tolerate her. Three people, four if she included herself, which she didn't. She'd have walked away from herself too if she could've. "You can go with them. I don't give a shit. I mean, what are a chef, a swimmer, a pariah, and a cop going to do against the great mysteries of space?"

"Shit" Manny said. He held the dripping wet end of the rope that had been tied to Zari. Tessa looked over at him standing at the mouth of the pipe that was the source of the lake water. She stood and patted Noah on the shoulder leaving him alone to stare up at the space sky. "Someone has to go after her." Manny added looking over at those in the Atrium. "I can't fit." He looked concerned, which was, as far as Tessa was concerned, an understatement for how she felt.

Tessa walked over to the pipe and look at its size. There weren't a lot of them that could fit through the pipe, and more worrisome was the nearly ice-cold water pouring out of it. A fear gripped Tessa as she looked into the pipe that she for a moment couldn't place her finger on. She found herself taking several steps back. "I can't do it. I'm sorry." Her eyes were wide. "When I was little I almost drowned."

That was an oversimplification of what happened, but it had scared her in more ways than just a fear of drowning. It didn't help that she had watched Luke almost drown and he was a good swimmer. Her mind flashed to the photo in her room. The one of the woman with the burned face. Now she knew why.

Noah stayed where he was. He didn't even seem to be paying attention to the group at the pipe, just sipped at his coffee thinking.

Galley

"Maybe it means more that a cop is willing to stay." Kyle offered Cal as some form of condolences.

"I can make a cake." Gordon offered.

Luke sipped at his coffee that Tessa had given him. At first, he didn't say anything but leaned against the table, eventually, he shrugged. "There is the place where the Roomba came from. We can check out that hole. It is pretty small though."

Sophia stood there for a moment getting a few more flashes, she was sitting on the porch of her house with a bottle of beer in her hands, in her PJ's. It was something that she always had done before bed and after a long day she would sit on her porch and just relax, and have some beer. She would occasionally look over some building plans on whatever building project she was working on as well to, when she looked up Sophia saw a bright flash of light, then nothing. She shook her head slightly at the memory, she knew everything now which was good she had all her memories back.

When she watched Manny pulling the rope back only to see that Zari wasn't attached to the other end of it, they all really needed to stick together no matter what and now Zari could potentially be dead now for all she knew. She quickly tried to go for the went herself but she couldn't fit at all, spitting out the icy cold water as she stepped back. "Please tell me she still has the radio that she made earlier, an you guys still have it." Sophia said looking at everyone else, hoping that Zari still had the radio with her as well.

Vinnie breathed in and right as she exhaled, memories came rushing back to her in a flood. She could barely attach names to the faces, but two in particular knocked the wind out of her - Dad and Pops. She remembered Pops spinning her at the roller rink the night of prom. Tears welled up in her eyes as a funeral then flashed through her head - Dad. He had lost his battle with drug addiction. Vinnie swallowed thickly, hoping to remember more, but it was just mostly important people and events in her life - her college graduation, her first day at Buzzfeed, brief blurs of Tessa and Sophia who really was her cousin.

"Sorry what was happening?" Vinnie asked, drying her eyes. She was pretty used to having to ask that question by now - she was a spacey person by nature, but thus far it hadn't been due to remembering the tragic funeral for her dad. "You need someone to go into there? And swim? And nearly die like Luke did?" she asked, her eyes widening. The guys were way too big to fit in there. Tessa wasn't in a mood to do it. And the thought of drowning sent an electrifying chill into her heart, but somehow, Vinnie managed to swallow her fear. "This is why men are useless and women should rule the world - we get stuff done!"

She took a deep breath and wiggled her arms and legs, as if that could shake away the fear and anxiety that she was about to go swimming in her grave. Did dead bodies float? She had to assume that they did, so at least she wouldn't be lost in the depths... but wouldn't that mean that all the shipwrecked sailors should have floated? Would they clump together? Was there an island of floating bodies of people who died at sea somewhere in the ocean? Did birds use it to make nests? Was that how coconuts migrated, via a raft made out of corpses?

Vinnie made her way in through the opening, the cold water instantly hitting her system and shocking her. It was like a painful sugar rush and Vinnie nearly slipped, but she regained her balance. In the process she got a mouthful of cold water and Vinnie screamed, bubbles spewing from her mouth as she struggled to get her mouth to be water free. The rushing water of the pipe was extremely difficult to navigate against. With gritty determination - and wishing that she had a video so she could record this and make a video out of it - Vinnie fought her way up against the pipe, the cold water chilling her to the bone. It was probably the quietest she had been in her life, since the roaring water inside the pipe wasn't ideal for keeping her mouth open beyond gasps for air.

She thanked her lucky stars when she saw a ladder up ahead. She grabbed one bar after the other, thinking at first that she hadn't managed to get it. She then realized with shock that she couldn't feel her fingers! Her eyes widened, wondering if they were going to freeze off and just fall off - would her fingers end up floating back to everyone? Would they know they were hers? Pure grit and determination was all that kept her going as Vinnie forced herself to move herself up the ladder, each movement harder than the last, and the sensation in her hands pretty much gone. She made her way up to the top of the pipe.

"Hey uh is it normal to not be able to feel my hands? Because I think my fingers got replaced by popsicles and I am reeeeally scared of drowning so please be nice and help me up, Greenie!" Vinnie pleaded, too exhausted for her usual word vomit.

Back on dry ground, Raynor was trying to communicate with Zarina via the radio. He was too big to fit on through the opening to go into the pipe. His memories had largely rushed back to him, helping him to identify just why he cared so much about this kid. She looked so much like Lana, his missing best friend. He didn't care about protecting children after all - he just cared about saving Lana, or her near doppleganger in Zarina. "Kid, you better answer me or I'm going to lose my shit," Raynor said gruffly through the radio. There was no response as the radio was set to the wrong channel, but he didn't know that.
