Eri Takeda“No matter what, someone is depending on you.”
_______________________________________________

“Thank you, Lumika. Were I an officer or serving in another official capacity, your salute would be very appreciated. However since our relationship is one of Jounin to Genin, the gesture is not necessary.” She said, giving Lumika a warm smile. Then she turned her attention to Kimi.

“Geeeez. And we just met.” Kimi said nonchalantly. The black haired girl gestured to Rina. “Seeing as she’s from my clan, I’m sure she can handle herself just fine, and I don’t mind a good fight. Her fireball jutsu is impressive and I’m sure if we got separated, she can handle on her own.” Kimi said with a nod but then looked a bit serious. “However, she looks stressed and that isn’t good. She also looks like she trains a lot but needs some time to unwind a bit. All that training can strain a girl, ya know. Also the whole lone Wolf thing ain’t gonna cut it since we’re gonna start out as a team. 'Sides, we need to stick together. We’re still genin after all.”

Kimi then pointed her thumb at Lumika. “We just met but I like her. She looks to be a go getter and will help us out in a jam. Plus she looks determined to make sure we don’t die. However...” Kimi looked at a bit serious again. “We don’t need her rushing in at things. That kind of thing could get her or the whole team killed. Other than that, she’s fine.” Kimi said with a shrug.

Eri suppressed a laugh after hearing Rina and Kimi side by side. After 20 years, it seemed like the Uchiha hadn’t changed a bit. As for their Suna exchange, Eri could see the girl would have some difficulties standing up to the Uchiha’s characteristic demeanor. Lumika responded well to authority, but she’d need more than that to keep from being passed over.

In Eri’s experience, the Uchiha ninja were powerful, superior, and certain of themselves, whether their opinion was good or ill. It seemed the same could be said of their children. Rina was the most self-assured and ready to be leader in a given situation, but her strength in herself came with a disregard for others. While Kimi’s relaxed nature showed in the way of a little sister bucking her family’s reputation, her assessment sounded no less superior, though perhaps a bit more self-protective. Kimi would have gladly given leadership to Rina, but only because she didn’t want to take that responsibility herself yet. Perhaps she didn’t want to be another high-achieving prize for the Uchiha name.

Whatever the case, these two clan-siblings would have to learn to work together, and Lumika would have to show that she was a force to be reckoned with.

“Rina and Kimi! You two are to fight until one of you has given up or cannot continue. Lumika, you are to keep your teammates from hurting each other. Stay within the bounds of this training field and do not go into the forest. Your test will end when I have seen everything that I need to. Is that understood?”

She gave her genin an intense look. If they had questions, she did not wait for them to ask before stepping back and declaring “Start!” with a sweep of her arm.

Hideo Sarutobi"Compromise is a lie told to abdicate duty."
_______________________________________________
It seemed that Hideo had made an impression. Between Tenshi's exasperation, Mizuraki's threat of violence, and Ichika's unmistakable warning, Hideo had stirred the pot. This mission demanded loyalty, however it wasn't his job to foster that loyalty but to evaluate it... along with... many other unmentionable things. Except to stare blankly, Hideo showed no response to the three's mildly hostile responses. He merely waited for their expressions to end and watched while they prepared themselves and their teams respectively. Ichika was the most gracious, which was unsurprising. He approached her and leaned a little closely and whispered, "You said you do not recognize me. It is because you do not have the security clearance. But I recognize you. If Seiji hadn't kept you from rising in the ranks, you would have my job! Yes, I only received it when you were blocked from the position years ago. So, in a way, Seiji wanting you for himself and stifling your career has made you my benefactor. Thank you!"

He gave the slightest of head nods and a smile and backed up, moving this time to Tenshi, who seemed to have calmed a bit since arriving. Hideo knew that his relationship with his village was strained. The reports from his various handlers over the week had formed the basis of a psychological profile which had been most instructive as to how the upper echelons of Kumo operated. No doubt Tenshi wasn't completely disloyal to his own village and he was surely sending information back, somehow, but there was a reason he'd been barred, so far, from meeting Seiji. His threat-level was still being evaluated.

"Hokori-san, you asked me a question and it is only fair that I answer it. You had asked why this mission was not passed through you first. But... It is only because the mission is not official and you were not intended to know of it. The council had decided that it was important that you be informed about it and added to it, but you were originally to be excluded from it. I will not pretend to know why, I am a simple shinobi. I go where I am told and do what I am told", Hideo explained, again leaning close enough that only those closest to him would easily hear, and a he bowed slightly. In truth, he knew more about the decision than he was letting on, but that seemed unimportant to the mission at hand. Tenshi was as informed as he needed to be and it was time to move out...

"Follow closely and quietly", he said to the assembled teams and sprinted silently out of the gate and into the forest beyond.

Team Botan NakanoKamui Kaiyou | Makaira Kumonga | Arisu Ayaname
_______________________________________________

"Hah! Read 'em and weap, Maka", said Ari grinning from ear to ear and placing a flush down on the jagged and slightly inclined rock they were using as a table. Ari was short, so she'd had to roll another rock for use as a chair, if she was going to play sitting; but now she was sitting pretty. She'd won a few games earlier, but overall, Maka had her well in the hole. Luckily, she'd managed to stay in it and fight back. With this win, she'd be in the lead again as she'd cleverly chided Maka into going all-in. Then SHE'D have to do all HER chores for the next week!

"I didn't think you had a flush...", Maka replied with a frown, "...I thought if you were going to go all-in you'd at least have a full house!"

And Maka revealed her own cards, each of her six arms bringing down a single card one at a time, making a total of four twos and a king. Her head was resting on her final hand and a smirk crept further across her face with every card... just as the color and joy drained from Ari's face at the same time.

"Eeeeeeeeeh!?!"

"I like my underwear folded into balls, not triangles, Ari."

"Eeeeeeeh...."

A little farther off from them and closer to the woods, Kamui was poking at the fire with a stick. It was little more than embers and what remained of the twigs he'd occasionally throw in. They'd spent the night out there waiting for the Leaf shinobi, but they didn't need the fire now. He was only keeping it going to stave off boredom. He knew better than to try to play cards with Maka, she only ever lost when she wanted to. He'd tried to warn Ari, but she said she wouldn't back down from a challenge like that. It was expensive to have that much pride. Kamui was glad someone could afford it... even if it was on credit.

Nakano-sensei appeared out of the trees from behind Kamui and sat down next to him.

"The Leaf shinobi are approaching", Nakano-sensei announced. He had a soft and wavering voice, but all three of his genin heard him and turned. His eyes were a little wider than usual and his voice wavered a little more than usual, but he had a wide smile on his face.

"Tenshi-kun is with them... Maybe Okasa...-Raikage-sama changed her mind...", he said to nobody particularly. After spending nearly a week out in the woods, they'd all gotten to know each other well enough by now. They were within the Land of Fire, so they'd been on the move near constantly since they'd arrived, but they couldn't stray too far without losing track of their quarry who were just as interested in not being found. This was the longest they'd stayed in one place and it was a pleasant change of pace. The kids could tell that there had been something on their sensei's mind, but whatever it was, he wouldn't talk about it. At most, he'd wave it off and say something like "Oh, my face is just like that."

This was the lightest he'd seemed since they'd been placed under his command a little more than a week ago.

The first to enter the clearing was a man with an odd spear on his back and a vacant expression on his face. As soon as he arrived, he bowed and announced himself, "Greetings from Konoha. I am Hideo. The rest of the shinobi should be arriving in a moment..."

And soon enough, two teams of Konoha ninja emerged along with... Botan Nakano was on his feet when his brother arrived and he approached quickly, but timidly and said, "Tenshi-kun! It's... good to see you."

"Why don't we talk and let the genin meet among themselves, hm", said the man that had identified himself as Hideo.

"Y-yes...", replied Botan, looking a little nervous. He gave his own genin a little point with his nose to the other genin that had arrived, but they seemed a little wary of the newcomers as well.

"Let's... get down to business then...", Botan replied, leading the jounin just a little ways away.

Ichika Uchiha“Peace earned through communication is just and true, but without the strong to protect those who would shepherd in such an age... Everything will be lost. Power is absolute.”
_______________________________________________
Ichika had to forcibly reel herself in as Hideo had proceeded to refer to the vastly inferior in rank Tenshi with appropriate honorifics, despite having neglected to do so for Mizuraki and herself. Without her realising at first, the Uchiha's Dōjutsu had sprung to life in a moment of well contained outrage. Emotional stimuli often caused this among even skilled users of the Sharingan such as Ichika. With very few more words being said, Hideo took off. Blazing through the woodland at considerable speed, though it was certainly not a breakneck pace. The Anbu operative performed the feat casually, as any of their rank should be able to. Ichika had been the first to follow, almost instinctively springing to action with her subordinates closely in tow.

"Team, enter Vee formation. Tomoyuki, stay as close to me as you can. If we're somehow ambushed I want you to be as close to the fray as possible. Yue, Natsuo; keep your eyes and ears peeled for any threats that may come to us from the flanks." She did not take time to ensure that those in her charge had done as told, trusting in them. Nor did she expect any form of confrontation, particularly not this close to the Leaf. But in her vast experience, Ichika had found that exercising caution, even where entirely unnecessary was a virtue. 'Better to have been and not needed to have, than needed to and not have'. As she would always say.

After a brief period of travel, throughout which Ichika had spent much time suspiciously observing Hideo and pondering over what he had meant with his words, the group arrived at their destination. Had Seiji really been stunting her career's progress? After all the loyalty and fealty she had shown him? Such doubts had to be set aside for later, she could not currently afford the distraction. For now, taking note of Hideo's words Ichika silently indicated to her team to go and mingle as had been suggested. Perhaps early introduction to outsiders could prove beneficial to the young Shinobi. "Go, but be wary. I have your backs should any foul play occur." Ichika stated, under her breath so as to prevent Hideo and the Kumo-nin from hearing.

Approaching both Hideo and the Kumo Jōnin, Ichika remained utterly silent. Her footsteps seemingly mimicking her demeanour. A cold glare struck across her face, and to anyone who didn't know the woman it would seem that she was staring down the Kumo-nin. But the reality was far from it, her eyes were fixed on Hideo, all the while keeping the children within her peripheral vision. The Jōnin from Kumogakure was but a mere afterthought to the Uchiha. Her crimson armour and ebony black mane which stretched all the way to her bottom certainly set her apart from the average Leaf Shinobi.

Tenshi Hokori

The uneventful walking was rather peaceful for Tenshi and yet he was a bit strained on how he should feel about the situation. Uncharacteristic like didnt speak once during the walk to the meeting point. The lack of knowledge of what was this mission was about and paired with having to meet up with a squad from his own village this had all the makings of bad situation if anyone lost their heads here.

As they arrived on site Tenshi made sure to keep a good fixture on his surroundings. Before he could get a good look at all the genin the cloud brought out for this mission. He was quickly approached by his brother as quickly Tenshi put a smile on his own face then says cheerfully like putting on his normal composer, "Well looks at this! These like the rumors I heard was true you got your own squad. Promoted to Jounin too. That's a heck of a promotion, I am surprised Lady Raikage would have sent any squad out to a mission with the leaf considering I had to thoroughly keep on her to just to give me my assignment with them. What is going on?"

As he asked he looked around the area was flat, with a few rocks, not much for hiding room for anything. The genin they brought Tenshi looked at each one as he spoke to Botan, then he froze cold when he saw Kamui. Not the boy he knew from reports the host of the three tails.

Tenshi had let Bohan get away from him for a bit as he started to follow Hideo away, then suddenly he snapped out of his shock and awe then quickly followed, "I am coming with, and no that isnt a request. I need to know what is going on, and why certain shinobi were assigned to this mission. Seeing how this joint mission, is sort of part of my on going mission to bolster a nice working relationship between our two villages. So I am going to whatever this meeting of the minds we have here." The smile was gone, his joking nature was gone. Quickly he took a more serious tone. He was not going to let anyone deny him the information any longer.

Yue Nara"Stop... being alive. It's embarrassing."
_______________________________________________
By the time Yue arrived at the clearing, she was a little winded. They'd kept up a quick pace for several hours in relative silence. She'd wisely decided not to be the front of the V formation, but drafted behind Tomoyuki, who looked to be more brawny and significantly more indefatigable than she was. She was never comfortable in the front of a pack anyway... or part of a pack, for that matter... She'd remained stony-faced throughout the run and, though the extended effort made it difficult, her mind was racing as fast as she was. Her first real debriefing had left her in a strange place. If she had been the arrogant snooty type, maybe she would have been flattered by that ANBU's apparent preference for her team over the team that Remi had been placed on. But she wasn't the arrogant snooty type, she thought. She could scarcely imagine caring about something as superficial as the praise of some self-imposed authority figure.

She fumed a little as she followed behind her jounin sensei who had been assigned to her by some committee and took stock. At least they weren't trying to force her to conform to the Ino-Shika-Cho triplet again. When she'd seen Remi at the gates, she'd just about turned around and walked away... not because she hated Remi, but because she hated the idea that she was never going to escape that box, no matter how much she just didn't fit. Though she didn't show it, she'd been so relieved by her "sensei" (as she was supposed to call her now) announcing that she was to be on a team with Natsuo Aburame and Tomoyuki the sand kid. She didn't know much about Tomoyuki, he hadn't been in Leaf that long and Yue wasn't some welcoming committee, but she liked Natsuo as far as that went. He kept to himself, except to ask weird questions, and sometimes he'd wear interesting clothing. It was a kind of small surprise when he'd come into the classroom with a set of two foot long horns or giant swirly glasses or a kimono covered in smiles and other expressions, just the kind of odd thing that broke up the monotony and boredom of class for a few seconds before it set back in like a dull fog.

And that brought her back to her jounin... Yue didn't know what to think of her yet. It was obvious by the way she talked that she was used to commanding respect, but the ANBU had treated both her and the other one (Yue seemed to recall being her name was Mizuraki) with very little of it. Yue had naturally bristled at the man (Hideo, she thought), but that only made her think of her mother, who'd have probably spent an hour lecturing him on proper etiquette if she had been there. They'd probably be back at the gates still arguing... Would they ever have left? No. No they wouldn't have. Anyway, the only thing she could discern about Ichika-sensei was that she was a serious person that planned on treating her like an adult and Yue felt unbelievably relieved and terrified by the notion in equal measure. She also seemed to handle chain of command with stride, neither bucking it nor allowing others to buck it. Even Bohi-sensei, the teacher from school, never seemed completely comfortable giving orders. She'd get flustered, resort to punishment, or even bargain sometimes. She'd get compliance in the end, but it was a bit of a struggle. It seemed that leadership was second nature to Ichika-sensei.

It wasn't second nature to Yue. It wasn't as if she could have done any better. She just couldn't compare.

By the time they made it to the clearing, the sun was beginning to set and Yue wanted to sit down. She'd never run this far before and never this far from the village. On her very first day as a real genin, she was miles from home surrounded by strangers and without any knowledge about what was coming next. Worse, she had to rely on so many people that she barely knew and who she knew she couldn't trust. Whatever cog they wanted her to play in the mission... well, she knew she may be able to... maybe... but she couldn't say the same about the others. What if one of them failed and she couldn't complete her objective? Probably it would be her fault somehow, no matter how well she performed. What was the point? She just wished she had more information... She didn't know where she was in any of this. She was lost.

Still, her mind kept on snagging on what the adults were saying and doing. So their liaison was the Kumo rep's brother. He acted as if they were estranged... Maybe that explained why there was a Kumo rep in Konoha in the first place... Ichika-sensei was on her guard. That Hideo guy was acting much more formally. Was he just acting rude to Konoha-nin because he could get away with it? Maybe this mission really was so important if it made him manage his manners in such a way... It reminded her of dad when when mom was worried about something, like that one time she was convinced that someone had stolen dad's wedding ring. It had turned out that one of the deer on their property had swallowed it off of his finger while he'd been sleeping in his hammock, but Yue had never seen him so obliging... and then so quickly lazy once the ring was finally found again.

"Go, but be wary. I have your backs should any foul play occur", said Ichika, her first statement since they'd started the mission and Yue was almost surprised to hear her speak. Regardless, she took her words to heart. It was dangerous. She barely knew the genin right next to her and, without knowing near anything about them, she was expected to also meet and deal with these foreigners. This all seemed so rushed, but Yue could not help but feel that whatever was going on, this confusion was planned. There was something she was missing and she didn't know what... but she knew she wouldn't feel comfortable until she figured it out.

In the meantime, she thought as she glared at the Kumo genin, she'd just have to be very careful.

Takayuki Mekakushi

Taka's grin could've split his face. These kids were just something else!

Akira had arrived first, with little fanfare, and he had to admit that the boy had shot up in his estimations a fair bit. Despite having fallen for the man's (textbook) trap, the boy held himself with a certain poise, and the conditioning he put his young body through was evident. He'd tried not to fuss over the kid too badly, simply helping him through the rest of the rig, doing his best to put the genin at ease. He led Akira to his sofa, and had been ready to introduce himself properly when he heard the distinctive sound of a sword being drawn. 'That's the Mist boy, then'

The next minute or so had so amused him that he was presently struggling not to burst out laughing. Karata-kun had fallen right into his little trick with the pressure plates, apparent by the rather satisfying thunks of wood against metal. His face when her reached the doorway was priceless! Still, Taka had to admit that the boy's tenacity was impressive. He'd pushed through a fairly competent trapping setup without actually getting hit, and while he was clearly leaning too heavily on his bloodline there was more than enough to work with.

Of course, as though that weren't enough, he was once again interrupted by Uzumaki-chan diving under his coffee table with a glorious yelp. The manoeuvre itself had been remarkable; the outcome not so much.

"Excellent dodge, Uzumaki-chan!" He did his best not to patronise, but these kids were just so cute! His infectious grin still pasted over his face, Taka stood to attention, addressing his students.

"So glad you could all make it! I'm Takayuki Mekakushi, Jounin rank, (although I'm sure you already know that), and from today onward you three will form Team 2! I look forward to working with you all!" He turned, gesturing at Ami and Rashiku. "Now, I gather you two are acquainted, but Akira-kun here is something of an unknown quantity. This is Akira Senju, and he'll be replacing Kiyoshi Hyuuga as the third member of our unit." His smile softened a little. "Akira-kun, these are Ami Uzumaki and Rashiku Karata, your teammates. I hope we can all get along."

With the basic introductions settled, he plopped into the sofa, gesturing for the others to find a seat around the table.

"Now, since we'll be working together for a good long while, I think we should take today to familiarise ourselves with each other. An effective team is one that knows itself!" His expression hardened a little as a more serious air fell over him. "I expect full honesty from each of you. We will all take turns to introduce ourselves. I'm thinking our names, ages, hometowns, likes, dislikes, one good memory each, and one traumatic memory to balance it out. Understand?" He settled back into his seat, relaxing somewhat.

"I'll go first, so you know what I mean! My name is Takayuki. I'm 26 years old, and I was born and raised here in the Leaf! I enjoy long runs and cold weather and I hate it when I lose my temper." He paused, and a cloud seemed to pass over him.

"Also slugs."

He shuddered, visibly.

"Anyway! Last month I had the most delightful fling with a rather lovely Sound ninja who called himself Ran, and when I was fourteen I saw both my teammates' heads blown off by a rogue Stone Nin whom I proceeded to gut; an act which saw me promoted to Chuunin." Despite the cold air that seemed to have fallen over him, his smile didn't waver, and he regarded his students with kind eyes and a gentle air, waiting to see who would speak up first.

Kenshiro Hyuuga
Location: Konoha Town Square
Company: Burai, Shiori, Kuree
Injuries: None
Chakra: 100%

More stretches was a good idea. If the three of them were going to be carrying water buckets filled near to the brim, it wasn't good to have the muscles not ready. As embarrassing as it was, it was best to follow his teammates and his teacher as they got more limber. He stepped back away from the buckets towards his team and started with more movements just in time for them to give their answers to their instructor's question. Shiori sweetly, innocently said exactly what an instructor would want to hear. The kind of answer you would put on a written test to gain extra points and hope it pushes you into that desired A score. 'BULLSHIT!' Screamed through Ken's mind as he stared at Shiori. He was almost shocked by her blatant lie of an answer, and was taken aback enough to be stopped in the middle of his bended-knee stretch as he looked at her. His eyes narrowed as he focused on her, full of suspicion and rising anger. He started to wonder if her hiding her motivations were the Spiga hiding something nefarious. Were they plotting something? Various thoughts ran through his head in a flash, before suddenly they were all wiped away with the girl doing another stretch right in front of his kneeling down position. It was good that the boy had covered his face with the mask, as his cheeks flushed a bright pink and his eyes went wide as he stared for a couple of seconds longer than he meant to.

Kenshiro stood still after he got up from his stretch for a few seconds, holding his hand underneath one of his nostrils, unsure if he was going to have an issue. Fortunately he had himself under control just in time for Burai to start with his own turn for his answer. At first Kenshiro rolled his eyes with the opening of Burai's speech, thinking of it along the same vein as Shiori's answer. However, the more Burai spoke, Ken realized how legitimate every word that came from him was. He turned from his initial scoff to listening to every bit, with a small smile. "Words to put 'the magnificent crab' to shame Burai-san!" Ken let out, jokingly picking on his teammate for a second, but is tone become much more sincere as he followed it with a simple, "I wish you luck."

It finally was time to get moving. With a preparatory sigh, he picked up the buckets of water and balanced the weight. They were heavy, but more of an annoyance than truly difficult. Ken was eager to get to the training ground and be rid of them so he moved with a brisk pace. He wasn't running, but jogging at a steady rate. The style of his Gentle Fist gave him great manual dexterity with his arms especially, and he was able to keep the buckets level through nearly the whole trip. That suddenly changed however, right near the end of the run, when out of an alleyway a grouping of wooden shuriken came flying right towards him! "Look out!" A little boy shouted as Kenshiro lifted his knee up to let the training weapons pass by underneath and bounce off the street and into the stall of a frightened fruit merchant. The sudden lurch to get out of the way made Shiori's bucket jolt back and forth, sending a small wave of water flying out to the air infront of him. Reacting in a desperate attempt to get the water back in the bucket, his hand extended out, his thumb the only finger holding the bucket, as he sent out his chakra into the gripping of water still in the air. The air around the water shimmered and the water itself rippled as it collected together into his palm before dropping down into the bucket blow.

Truthfully, he wasn't sure if his save had counted. He had spilled some, even if none landed on the ground. With another sigh he turned back towards Kuree and asked her. "So... We don't have to go back do we?" Kuree had stopped with them, looking down at the ground from her 6 foot high second story view and said "Hmm... i don't see any water on the ground, good move Kenshiro! I expect to see some more innovation out of the rest of you! So lets pick up the pace a little!" Giving her innovative student a thumbs up before she tried to put some motivational fire under their feet as she kept moving. Kenshiro's face sank as she talked about picking up the pace. He was done going fast. So close to the goal, it was time to play it safe and just walk. That's what he had planned to do, but alas "The Mountain" had other ideas. The group of children in the alleyway waved apologetically, the shuriken thrower having his hand scratching behind his head with the biggest 'I'm guilty' smile with a number of missing first teeth. Kenshiro shook his head and regathered his focus, before continuing to jog once more, and going just a bit faster than before. Not much, but not so slow where he was likely to get Kuree to notice and crack the whip on him. It wasn't long before they reached the training grounds themselves, and with relief Ken carefully put the buckets down, making sure to not spill any just in case that was an ever-present condition.

Akira Senju“I'm gonna be the greatest Hokage ever! Just like Grandpa Hashirama!”
_______________________________________________
Akira had been sat on the couch for a fair period of time before the others arrived. The feeling of embarrassment and shame he begun to experience was like nothing else, he had been absolutely foolish and fell prey to the simplest of traps. In the real world that would have been it. No more Akira Senju. Rashiku, who had been the second to arrive had apparently made light work of every trap that had been placed in the apartment, but that was to be expected. From what Akira had observed in class, Rashiku was out and out the genin with the most physical prowess. Ami, however was less graceful in her navigation. Although much like the boy from the Hidden Mist she had made it through the maze of assorted traps all by herself.

He almost became completely lost in those negative feelings, before Tekayuki-sensei began to break the ice, formally introducing himself to the team. Which made an idiotic grin appear on the young Senju boys face as he closed his eyes too. Scratching the back of his head as he responded to his sensei. "Slugs are yucky! Hehe. You're right there sensei! I also don't like toads either, they're super gross!" Akira had replied, a light chuckle to his voice as he spoke, trying to brush off his embatrassment. Though he was entirely unaware that he was still completely red-faced.

"Hey guys, I'm Akira Senju! My grandpa was the first Hokage, and one day; I'm gonna be Hokage too! I'm gonna be even stronger than Hashirama-sama and Tobirama-sama! You'd better believe it! I'm only 10, so I'm a bit younger than you, but I promise I'll do my best! A memory that made me happy, was when my Papa first taught me how to use my wood style. I uh, don't really have a traumatic memory though. Which I guess is a good thing?" Akira almost didn't stop scratching his head as he went on, he found it was highly helpful in keeping his mind off of the shame he was currently feeling. The boy had been somewhat surprised, he was expecting someone even harsher and colder than Bohi-sensei, but where his previous teacher had been cold and beautiful; his new one seemed to be super cool and friendly. A pleasant change of pace, Akira thought to himself. It would he much easier to let loose if he didn't have to worry about himself not seeming cool to Hana-Sensei.

Rina’s cool demeanor was actually shaken a little bit when the Suna exchange student had the gall to claim that something was holding her back. The Uchiha’s face changed into an irritated glare as she looked over the blonde...It was taking everything she had not to break out of their little line and throw a strike towards her for such a remark, but Rina just remained still but her glare however, her glare never left Lumika’s form even as Kimi was assessing her. The young Uchiha didn’t have anything to say to Kimi’s assessment either, only scoffing lightly at saying that she looked “Stressed” she was fine. Never better in fact. Rina simply awaited what their so-called Sensei was going to say next.

The smirk that came to Rina’s face upon hearing Eri’s words was VERY visible. She wanted the two to fight? She had absolutely no problem with that whatsoever. She needed to prove that she was the best, she might as well start with a worthy opponent and not a foolish blowhard like Lumika. “With pleasure.” she said simply before working out a kink in her neck and allowing the confident smirk to widen just a little bit more on her face. “I hope you can both keep up. And if you can’t? At least try to make it fun for me.” she side-eyed Lumika as she spoke those last words. She was sure that Kimi would prove a fun challenge but Lumika had earned no such confidence.

The Jounin’s arm swiped across the air signaling the beginning of the battle and Rina immediately vanished from view for a brief moment before re-appearing in front of Kimi and attempting to land a punch straight to the other Uchiha’s face. “Come on!

Location: Meeting with the Kumo-Nin Mizuraki Senju
_______________________________________________________________________________
Everything about this reeked of secrecy. The sudden addition of the Kumo rep as described by Hideo...His seemingly banal response of being a “Simple” Shinobi. It all made Mizuraki’s nose twitch, despite her own irritation and desire to pummel the rude Ninja in question it couldn’t be denied that he was far from a SIMPLE Shinobi. A member of Anbu-Black ops would be briefed with far more information than Hideo was presenting to them...His presence alone was enough to tip off that something far bigger was at play here than just a simple cooperative mission. It all raised too many questions and there was a severe shortage of answers for Mizuraki’s liking.

While Mizu mulled over the possibilities in her head as to what all of this could mean. Her Genin seemed to have their own ideas on the matter. Bakuto was the first to speak up, followed by Remi and then closed out by Hiro attempting to rally his teammates and assure them that their worries were unfounded. Mizuraki broke her pensive stare and let out a small sigh before looking towards the group of children she would be leading into the mission. “I read your file, Bakuto. I know how you feel.” she said softly before her face grew rather serious. “But let me make a promise to you. On my honor...Nothing is ever going to happen to you as long as you’re with me. That goes for all three of you. I’m not sure who you’ll be assigned to after all this. But it’s my job to get you into their hands so you can all grow into fine ninja. No one is going to be captured and NO ONE is going to die!” she shouted with clear passion and determination in her voice. “So let’s get out there and prove just how competent we really are!

She neglected to answer Remi’s question...Largely because it was a thought that scared her a little bit. If this mission came from Seiji’s desk than what on EARTH was he thinking with sending in so many genin!? That was going to be quite a pointed question she would ask her friend when she returned from this mission that was for certain. “Form up behind me and don’t lag behind. If I look back and don’t see you, you’d better HOPE I don’t find you.” she said harshly. It came from a place of fear rather than the desire to punish her temporary charges, the idea of losing anyone filled her with more fear than anything else in the world. Mizuraki’s squadron followed behind Ichika and Hideo. Taking up the rear guard to make sure they weren’t being followed or otherwise tracked, she doubted it would happen so close to Konoha, but the war had made her a bit paranoid when it came to such things.

Eventually, although they were the last to arrive, they arrived nonetheless. The suggestion that the Genin should mingle amongst themselves as the Jounin spoke about the mission was met with a nod from Mizuraki. The Jounin turned to look over her shoulder and motioned to the group of Genin. “Stay ready. I’ll let you know when we need to move out again.” Normally she’d tell the kids to take a load off but not now, she was far too on guard right now to even suggest relaxing. Mizuraki approached Hideo and the Kumo nin’s own Jounin. Mizuraki finally interjected once there was a moment of silence between the group. “Right. Are you going to tell us just what exactly is going on out here?

Hideo Sarutobi"Compromise is a lie told to abdicate duty."
_______________________________________________
They weren't far from the genin, close enough to be able to keep an eye on them but far enough that they wouldn't easily be able to overhear what they were talking about. As expected, Tenshi was running out of patience and Mizuraki echoed his concerns, but Hideo did not address Mizuraki. He spoke to Tenshi without even acknowledging that Mizuraki had said anything at all.

"Of course, Hokori-san. We never planned on leaving you out of this", said Hideo with a small bow, "I will tell you all that I can and perhaps Nakano-san can fill us all in on the rest."

Hideo gestured deferentially towards Botan who nodded nervously. Hideo leaned against a tree like a discarded marionette; aside from his hand on the handle of his tanto, his whole body seeming to slump, held aloft by just one leg or perhaps suspended by a single string. His chest heaved twice as he gathered himself up and then finally continued, "We are here because of the Missing-nin in this area. They have something of importance to both the Leaf and Kumo. I cannot tell you what, but I can tell you that the great Kumogakure would not deign to ask our own village for assistance unless it was serious. I do not care what the target is and it is not important that you know. What they have in their possession they should not have and now must be neutralized. That is all that is important. Nakano-san, would you like to fill in the details?"

"Y-yes...", Botan stammered, looked down and played with his hands a little, "I-I... Um... My team has been tracking the Missing-nin to their base. It is on an island not far from here, but it is highly defended. The coast closest to us is a tall and sheer cliff. We could sail around, but there patrols and traps. We would be alerting them to our presence... B-but the missing-nin do not sail from the island. We've found the tunnel that they have been using, but we have not explored it. We do not know how well defended it is o-or what we'll find in there..."

"That sounds troublesome, Nakano-san. Have you discovered much about their forces", Hideo asked, blankly staring at the ground.

"Yes... While most of the criminals are C-rank, they are led by four high-level ninja. Two have kept out of sight, but the two that I know by name... um... There is... Ondori Toutenkou... Iwa would probably appreciate his capture, but killing him should be fine too... And... Um... Ran Shigetsu... Suna really wants her back and she's holding one of the Seven Swords of the Mist..."

"Yes, killing her would cause problems with the Suna alliance. Her sister is high-ranking, I hear", Hideo interjected.

"Y-yeah...", Botan replied and looked away. He was clearly nervous to be leading the debriefing, so Hideo decided to broaden the conversation.

"Now, shall we plan our attack", he asked, opening the floor to the rest of the assembled adult shinobi.

Tenshi Hokori

Tenshi stood there and listened intently, at last he was getting the details of this mission. A joint mission to deal with rogue shinobi, this seemed to be a standard mission. Tenshi paid attention but he wasnt sure why they needed squads from both villages on this mission, but at least he they didnt keep anything from him.

Quickly Tenshi hears his brother, brought straight back to younger days of a boy who was unsure of himself. Tenshi could still feel that Botan wasnt so sure of himself and now he had a whole squad to look out for. He listened to Hideo's explanation not going into the details of why this was important to both villages. That part annoyed Tenshi but for once he kept his tongue and didnt say anything, but the look on his face said everything. Things being kept from him still, but he was going to hear out Hideo.

When Botan said they found the base talked how well defended it was Tenshi started to try and figure a way of doing this. Tenshi thought of a plan pretty quickly and was about to speak up about it when Botan started to talk about the high ranking crimminals they were going to deal with. One was Ondori Toutenkou, someone from Iwa, Tenshi honestly didnt know much about him, but the other as soon as the name and title came about the seven ninja swordsmen came out, Tenshi's interest was peaked and a smile crept onto his face he said this thoughts out loud , "One of the seven ninja swords men Eh? Awesome! We get to cross blades with a skilled swordsmen this will be an interesting mission after all."

When Hideo took over at the end when Bohan seemed be nervous about leading the mission. Right after the talk of started to plan the attack Tenshi says, "Well, lets see what we have three squads of genin, three jounin, an ANBU, and a Chuunin. The way I see it, we have two ways of entering. We could sail around and alert every single patrol or go into a tunnels Right? Those were the options I see that have been laid out for us. So why not we do both, One team of or most skilled, go up and sail around get their attention while another goes up through the tunnels and pull the rug out from under them. Their unknown defenses in the tunnels should pull back as they get distracted giving the second team a better window to sneak into."

Tenshi laid out his plan straight out. His idea was to have either himself and or a jounin or two stay in team one while everyone else goes around through the tunnels for the sneak in and attack strategy. He thought of this idea before the swordsmen was mentioned, but his motives of being on the distraction team would be to get a chance to cross blades with the enemy swordsmen something he didn't want to miss out on that he is willing to throw himself into a lion's den to get a chance to do.

Ichika Uchiha“Peace earned through communication is just and true, but without the strong to protect those who would shepherd in such an age... Everything will be lost. Power is absolute.”
_______________________________________________

Overhearing Mizuraki's grandiose display of protective candour as she stood alongside Hideo and , Ichika couldn't help but be slightly irritated. While she too, wished to do everything in her power to keep the children safe, the Uchiha didn't believe it necessary to make a fuss about such things. Promises of survival whilst on a mission were hollow in her own experience. Kasumi-sensei had said something in a similar vein during the third great war, and that promise did nothing for her twin brother. Although, a light smile crept onto the tall woman's face as she dispelled her criticism of Mizuraki's optimistic demeanour, given the fact that she was ten times the Shinobi that the Kasumi Uzumaki could ever have dreamed of becoming.

"I am coming with, and no that isnt a request. I need to know what is going on, and why certain shinobi were assigned to this mission..."

"Right. Are you going to tell us just what exactly is going on out here?"

Ichika understood her colleagues' frustrations, but she firmly believed that such behaviour was unacceptable from Shinobi whilst out on a mission. As much as she agreed, and currently held tremendous disdain for the one calling himself Hideo...They had to accept things for how they were. Tenshi in particular had begun to rile Ichika, showing no regard for tue chain of command and an immense sense of entitlement at every opportunity. Keeping her composure as Hideo and Nakano had begun to finally explain the mission parameters in greater detail, Ichika waited for an appropriate moment to speak as Tenshi began to explain his own plan of attack. Taking the information in, and beginning to formulate her own ideas for the mission ahead before speaking. His sound strategy helped calm Ichika slightly, but not enough to prevent the scolding that would ensue.

"Mizuraki-san, Hokori-San. Whilst I share some of your feelings, such behaviour is unbecoming of shinobi. You should both know better." She had said, scolding the Jōnin and Chuunin of whom she was their elder, in an almost motherly manner before continuing. "Another option that we may explore; are there any among us whom are capable of summoning amphibious creatures of some description? I fear that if we approach directly through a tunnel that our targets are themselves utilising, even if we split our forces with a diversion as Hokori-san surpisingly adeptly suggests, the tunnel team may walk straight into a trap. We could potentially circumvent this predicament by avoiding the tunnel all together, whilst keeping out of their line of sight as we approach. Better they be caught entirely unaware by the full force of our might than a splintered ppercentile of it." Taking a pause after providing both her own plan of action, and gracing Tenshi with the closest thing to a compliment that he would currently receive from the Uchiha; Ichika momentarily glanced sideways at the Genin, assuring herself that the children were playing nice with each other. A brief smile showing through her cold demeanour as they were seemingly doing so.

"As for one of our targets, Ondori Toutenkou is a brute of a man. But do not let this fool you, he is highly intelligent and peculiarly for a missing-nin is known for keeping his word. Seeing absolutely whatever contract or deal he has bargained for through to the end. No matter the cost. He will be a dangerous foe indeed. There have been reports that his preferred method of fighting is through the usage of his chicken summon. But as amusing as such a statement sounds, do not allow this factor to catch you unawares." She stated plainly as she ruffled her hair, referencing what information she had remembered regarding their target from the 'bingo book' that most high ranking shinobi were issued with. A document that the woman had become well acquainted with during a period of time wherein the majority of her missions consisted of assassinations.

Natsuo Aburame"Everyone talks big till there’s a bug in their mouth. Then they can’t talk at all, cause of the bug in their mouth!"
_______________________________________________

What was going on with the adults seemed very strange. Now they’d gone off to talk amongst themselves, but the tension they left remained in the air like static electricity, a sort of prickly silence hanging over the kids. If Natsuo had to place the feeling, he’d say it was like the family meal after a funeral. The adults would parse out serious discussions while the children were placed at the kids table, out of earshot, made an unknown. Unknowns were fascinating.

In this case, the adults had left them with children who may or may not want to kill them. Which was as interesting a question as any other, he supposed. Was this a setup? A trap? If the kumo nin planned to put a knife in their backs, it was better to find that out sooner rather than later, wasn’t it? And wouldn’t one like to know the name of their killer, if they could?

It was all very interesting, and a far cry from Bohi-sensei’s homeroom get-to-know-you exercises. He felt less like he was being introduced to potential new friends and more like a human litmus test, with Ichika-sensei standing by in case the whole thing exploded. He looked over the Kumo kids and wracked his mind for an appropriate greeting to give someone who might like to kill you. After casting a cursory glance over at his teammates to see if they would follow him, he approached the Kumo nin around the large rock they were using as table.

“Hello. I’m Natsuo Aburame. I see you have six arms.”

Location: Training ground 17Lumika Suto
_______________________________________________
Lumika couldn't help but feel a little ill after Eri-sensai told her to keep her two teammates from hurting eachother. But just as quick as it came over her, her optimisim was injected back into her spirit! "Okay!" Lumika said, her determination glowing in her eyes, all negtivity passing through her like a summer breeze. Lumika was ready to stopp Rina in her tracks but just as she turned to her she dissapeared, Lumika was more surprised that Rina had such disaplined speed and not by the idea of a person being so fast you lose sight of them, its taijutsu 101! Lumika quickly turned around and found Rina infront of Kimi. clearly a sign of disrespect thinking she could just run past her like shes just a...a...a garden gnome!

"No you don't!" Lumika would then grab Rina around the waist and try to toss her overhead rather than slam her onto the ground, using her legs, arms, and back to chuck Rina as far away as possible showing incredible strength for her size and age. and with Rina out of the way, Lumika would charge at Kimi slamming her shoulder into Kimi's midsection trying to use the momentum to lift her up onto her shoulder like a sack of onions. if all this worked Lumika would run around the training ground as fast as she could around the border, Her long blond hair flapping in the wind like a proud flag. trying to play keep-away with Kimi on her shoulder for as long as she could hold her there.

If throwing Rina didn't work Lumika would try to slide between Rina's legs and push her away from Kimi and if both of those things worked she would perform Lightning release: Flash kick to try and temporarily blind Rina and give Lumika enough time to pick up Kimi and run

Remi Haruno"Ah... Don't you think the world will be a little brighter without you in it?"
_______________________________________________
Stay ready. I’ll let you know when we need to move out again”, said Senju-sensei, which was fine by Remi. By the time they finally arrived at the little encampment the Kumo-nin had made for themselves, he was ready to take a rest. By the spirits of his ancestors had it been a tense run! Even he had barely ventured even a friendly phrase! There was a sense that any noise could have given away... something to... somebody. Remi hadn't been explicitly told any of this, but... it just seemed that way. He briefly wondered if all travel would be so dreary; he'd have preferred if they'd at least been able to stop to see at least one of the small villages they'd skirted and passed... Oh well.

"Do a great job, sensei", he called after with a wave and a smile. Her formal demeanor didn't suit his sensei, who Remi had found to be relatively festive for an adult! He decided right then and there that he'd do his best to make sure that she had more to smile about than to frown about and set to doing just that. But first things first! In all the excitement, he'd barely gotten a word with his team!

"Alright gang", he said to his compatriots, putting a hand cheekily (in his opinion) on his hip, "These Kumo kids don't look so intimidating. Sure one of them has a scar on her eye and the other has several more arms than average, but together, we've got...", and he eyed Bakuto's puppet arm briefly, "At least as many arms! And Bakuto has far more than just a little aesthetic scar."

He nodded with assuredness, "And remember, sensei is counting on us to be ready! Now, what do you think our plan of action should be?"

______________________________________
A few more glances between the hallway and his instructor was all it took before Rashiku had gathered what had happened. Takayuki had set all those traps in the hall as a test for the students that were coming. With how many he'd set off, Rashiku felt like he was already off to a bad start. He noticed the slight shift in the light from the hallway as the door moved again, showing Ami in the hallway. She had an advantage of many of the traps having been disarmed, and the evidence of them being there was more than obvious with the hall littered with shuriken, kunai, and other pieces of wood. It went well with her avoiding setting off any more, right up until the end where she was forced to make a leap across the room to dodge underneath the table. Even Rashiku had to move a bit out of the way with the further projectiles being launched partially into the living room!

After things deescalated their instructor introduced Kiyoshi's replacement. A Senju... Rashiku had certainly heard of the clan name, but when he tried to remember their specialties he drew a blank. They had advanced jutsu of some kind, but he couldn't remember which. He supposed that as a teammate, he'd find out eventually. With everyone seated Mekakushi-sensei gave them their instructions... Which seemed to be gaining information on each other. It made sense, but the things he listed that were going to be needed caused Rashiku's shoulders to tense. The examples were even worse. With the pleasant memory making the boy's face tighten in embarrassment from the bluntness, and the unpleasant memory causing his hands to ball into fists under the table. If that was the criteria for the answer, there was only one event that qualified, and Rashiku could feel his throat tighten, making it increasingly difficult to speak.

It was a partial relief that Akira was first, with his being an easy introduction. His boastful claims at becoming stronger than his village founders were rather annoying though. Becoming that strong as a goal itself wasn't a bad thing, but making such statements seemed insulting to those that he wanted to surpass. Rashiku's eyes were narrowed for the briefest moment, but the boy didn't dwell on it. Especially when Akira had answered which advanced nature it was that the Senju had. Wood Release, that was it.
And then, it was Rashiku's turn. Taka-Sensei had turned his head along the line of his students, from Akira, to Rashiku. For a moment the room was silent as Rashiku didn't answer, staring ahead at his instructor, and around the room. His gaze glancing towards his fellow genin as well. Finally, words started to form as he spoke in, at first, short answers.

"I am Rashiku Karata. I am twelve. I was born in the Mist Village. I like drawing, and I dislike vinegar..." A break formed after he answered all but the final two questions. Ten seconds passed by, then longer, as if he was going to refuse to answer the harder piece, but finally it came forth. "My favorite day was when my father helped me choose my weapon. We found my sword with two blades well-suited to me, I could handle its weight and wide surface area. And... Five months ago the Mist Village attacked my clan and family. They killed everyone, and my father was torn to pieces by explosive tags. I... escaped through the hole in the wall he made with his body. That is why I am here in the Leaf."

Bakuto Uchiha

The orders and commands from Senju sensai were to be expected to Bakuto. Follow up and keep in line, those were simple basic instructions. Things that were simple strategies given to the students in the academy. He had listened to her words about how she was not going to let anything happen to anyone of them. While it did give him some comfort about what she said, somewhere deep inside he didnt truly believe her.

Learned from his own past experiences anything can happen when there are battles, people get distracted any people get hurt. The war was ended and this was only a simple mission but the coals from heated conflict still remain strong. The fears Bakuto have still remained, he has grown into a genin, one who suppose to be able to defend himself. Yet he wasn't sure that he has gotten any stronger than when he was a helpless child. As the groups ran, Bakuto felt some peace as he followed the chain of command and followed teams commanding jounin. What Bakuto enjoyed was the silence as he took in the moment. This was the first time he left the village since he was forcibly taken from it many years ago. The first time he walked or rather ran out on his own free will and got to take in everything. The peacefulness of just silence, no sounds of the village. While there was heavy sound of footfalls as they all ran, it was still somehow peaceful to Bakuto.

Silence ended once they arrived. He heard Remi call out to their sensai as the jounin and the kumo rep went off to have their meet and greet with the cloud's leading jounin. Bakuto took notice of the other team, but before he could get a good idea of them, Remi started to talk again. Talking how they looked tough, one of a scar and multiple arms. Then he heard Remi to proceed to try to boaster their spirits.

Bakuto didnt say a word, he walked towards a rock and sat on stop of it to await for his sensei's return from whatever kind of meeting she was brought to. Bakuto looked as if he was going to asleep with his eyes closed, but he was only merely in that appearance as he focused to listening in the surrounded area. Even with an attempt to eavesdrop on the jounin meeting to at last finally get some sort of idea about the mission they were to be on. He wasnt concerned so much about the Kumo team, he wasnt about to strike up to have a conversation them. While talking about them he wasnt going to do that either, he knew nothing about them and didnt have any sudden need to talk to them. As he would prefer to sit there in silence as awaited more orders.

Jin Kani"Feel the sting of the honorable crab, the Fabulous Jin Kani!"
_______________________________________________
It wasn't the landing that was difficult, it was the bees. Jin had expertly navigated his head into a gap in a tree instead of landing full into the trunk, but he hadn't counted on the honey globbing onto his head nor the protective bees that followed. Had it not been for his stylish sunglasses, who knows if he'd been able to escape with his eyes intact! What a loss that would have been for the world... Unfortunately, Jin did not have much time to contemplate the inevitable military funeral for his handsome chocolate eyes that would have been hosted by the grieving village; he was far too busy trying to dislodge his head! Sure the bees would have their sting now, but soon it would be Jin's turn to sting! And nothing could sting like the glorious crab! He chomped at the bees as they swarmed his face. That would show them!

Eventually, he managed to split the hole open and promptly fell two stories onto his back. Another successful landing, but the bees weren't done with him! They followed and attacked! Jin was going to warn them of their grievous mistake, but his tongue was roughly four times its normal size and he couldn't move it quite the way he'd have liked. Instead, he put his helmet on, which made an unusual squelching sound as it sat on his head. It seemed stuck. There was some sort of sticky jutsu that had affixed it to his noggin! It must have been the bees' doing... The fools! He punched at them in the air! Soon they'd know not to mess with the mighty Jin Kani!

The bees were quite formidable and didn't seem to understand just how powerful Jin's great fists actually were! Jin punched dozens of bees at a time, each dozen falling in lifeless clumps upon the ground, some buzzing impotently, but still they kept on, relentlessly attempting to sting the errant Kani! In fact, it took several minutes of fighting with the bees before they gave any ground at all, which was lucky as Jin's face had enlarged about three sizes and the helmet was beginning to get very uncomfortable. But he was undeterred! In fact, it wasn't until he heard a roar from behind that he even looked away!

What other dangers had the forest decided to throw at him? Why... it was a bear! Now this was a challenge!

"Th! Thith Thithith, bth!" Jin yelled before running headlong at the giant creature, which knocked him headlong away and then licked its paw, as Jin's honey-covered head seemed to be just the flavoring that the bear was looking for...
