Yo, I've been following/lurking in this and based on the third sample picture in the OP I am having a hard time deciding if this would qualify as what you'd consider "anime" or not. So before I spend hours fleshing out the character concept I'd like an opinion on that. But the no-time-to-explain, elevator pitch version is that she's a cyborg that used to serve as a bodyguard for public figures, but was captured and de-programmed, effectively rescued by activists. She has a "handful" of hidden weapons.



If she doesn't fit the setting, I'll probably do a surface dweller instead.

Yes I do believe this qualifies as anime. I think Odd would prefer more drawn out facial features so we actually know what the face looks like. That being said, I could totally see the bodyguard for officials being a thing however maybe instead of body integral weapons youre just programed to be good at using weapons? also... instead of being rescued by resistance or whatever that case may be. Maybe you just gained consciousness and decided to leave? (Because you knew as well as them, they couldnt stop you) yknow?

For what Tsukai is saying, yes, your image qualifies as anime. The third image on the 'Good Reference' for characters is not cartoon, anime, or a similar style.
Example: My character Nyai-Baatwe fits into the third category.

Comic book, anime, cartoon, or similar would not fit into the third reference.

A character that is an advanced A.I., robotics, etc... is completely fine. Though, you would not be able to have the backstory of being rescued and reprogrammed by the surface dwellers. Surface dwellers would not have that advanced of programming skills if they even had any at all.
You might find someone that has computer skills on the surface but you will find them to be similar to a government computers technician level of intelligence when they were in the 1960s-1980s. Maybe if you are lucky somebody that knows how to do early 2000s level of programming or understanding computers, but we would consider that a long shot.
Though on that list of people that could possibly have computer skills, programming, or anything of the like. They probably wouldn't know how to hack through extremely advanced codes without completely destroying it.

I wouldn't say that at all, Emeth. There are no need for such words, I was just politely telling you that in the lore, surface dwellers do not have the information, skills, or means to be advanced with technology like the Atlas civilization. The character idea you came up with is completely fine. The backstory/recent events would not be able to correlate with each other.

To everyone, I have made a change at the end of the introduction to the world. It has declared that the characters and community of this thread can begin roleplay (after you have accepted characters that is!!). Good luck to you all and I appreciate all of your interest in this thread! <3

Once you have the backstory up and ready, I or Tsukai will be able to confirm your characters enrollment to the world. So far, your character has a great foundation!

ADD ON:

You can keep your first character 'Pops' up in the character area since you are allowed 2 characters or you can take him down before/after you are approved for your next character!

and I strongly believe Calligraphy to be an Advanced skill. Odd, please correct me if Im wrong, however I'd like it to change from quick skill to advanced skill.

Only other thing I see is that you said he was born in china, however there is no china anymore. its been 450 years since the surface of the earth was civilized.

Maybe something like "Former Eastern Asia"?

other than that, and a very short backstory (you could definitely flesh it out, take a day to just brainstorm stuff for your character) Id say hes okay.

@Tsukai@HEAVY METAL I would say on the times and as surface dwellers, Cursive would be a quick skill and calligraphy would be a more advanced skill [since you need ink, a quill, and need to know how to use such tools]

I am with Tsukai on this, there are no countries/continents/really owned areas anymore. America, China, etc... have completely vanished and what is left of them are forgotten memories and ruins from the old world.
You have major areas like Oceania, Ortish, Caverns of Kilfi, and the Africans. You could make a sub-area for example:

"I come from a land that once was called Eastern Asia, but we are the land of the ___ monks.

I do agree, you can flesh the backstory out, but you do not have to do that right now. Also, you have to remember -- If your character is trained out of the Caverns of Kilfi when he goes to the Caverns, he will start out at square one no matter his age and experience of teachings. {Which could do a lot of character development; emotionally and mentally having to redo stuff]
