Tillius

She didn't answer his question, but he could always assume that yes she indeed was. What else could she be here for. She seemed a lot more drawn to his height, which wasn't the first time someone had ever said that to him. Orcs with less of their usual anger tended to get that kind of view. Eventually, Tillius learned to cater to the short-types, as he lowered himself to Roxas's level

But what really dazzled Tillius about this elven woman was her deciding to carve him a gift right then and there. Not just any gifts, a downsized wooden copy of the shield, down to the very detail of the scratch marks that lined the shield. Funny thing was that it's not actually his shield, it's likely some lad that retired and left it behind. And at the center of it all was the carved flower in the middle.

Tillius was aware what this implied, but still, it was weird instead of a normal sculptured flower, or a mini-sized sword. That's a common choice he had seen.

"Uh...I guess thank you?" He scratched his bald head. "Would you want to keep it for your use though?"

From the distant corner, he heard his elf employer deliver a grand speech towards the adventurers. His fluff and bullshit filters simply tuned out the rest until he got the gist of the message, that they were here to uncover some truth, whatever the hell that meant, and they were departing, the only important information in that speech.

"Well, we're breaking up camps. I'm helping those caravan lads." Tillius replied. Whether or not she wanted to come and help him too was totally up to her. "What is your name if I may ask? I am Tillius from Westernant."

He offered Roxas what seemed to be a regular handshake, but his hand would grip and interlock with her lower arm instead of palm. A less transactional handshake more commonly seen among soldiers.

Though breaking the camp was done hastily, Vesemir's caravan rolled forth without delay or difficulties. For now, the journey took them straight to the east, following the road parallel to one of Silmetirta's swift branches. To their left was a river and to their right were meadows and farmlands, marked by houses and barns that already sprung to live with activities. The journey continued on, and before the idyllic scenery could bore them, it all soon would be replaced by wooded grounds, and at last, Alkautsar's grand silhouette finally disappeared behind them.

The Gray Flame had guided them confidently among the many crossing paths. Vesemir was sitting next to him and seemed all too eager to pilot the leading wagon. Most of the companions and the archeologist's henchmen were in the first and the second wagons. Two of their transports had their canvas roof removed and transferred to the third and the fourth wagons for extra covering on their consumable supplies. Forbann and Engelbert occasionally disembark to walk alongside the convoy, either to enjoy the scenery on their own paces or just to lighten the horses' workload.

Meanwhile the only person with a horse, Carnatia was tasked by the Gray Flame to be their outrider.

"Carnatia, dear girl, may we trouble you for this part of the journey to check on our rear wagon every once in a while?" He had said.

It had been two hours since they left Alkautsar. The roads were well-paved, wide, and smooth, but the convoy had no reason to be hasty under this wonderful weather. It was a pleasant day worth enjoying; the sunshine was clear but not too hot. The sparse woodland around them was still leafy and full of color and seemed peaceful and wholesome.

---

But nature was always unpredictable, even in the land where its inhabitants were deemed more attuned to it. The sky that was clear thirty minutes ago had turned gray. The wind was picking up, bringing in a cold and moist breeze. A sound of thunder sounded distant, but the warning was fair.

It was pouring already. Reluctantly, but still resolute to the heart, the convoy trudged forth. They still hadn't escaped from the woodland route, and according to the Gray Flame, the nearest village was some 10 kilometers away from their position.

From there the situation was not improving. Like an ill omen, the rain fell hard, thunder and lightning cracked on the pale sky above them, and the wind whistled eerily, swaying the tall trees like a dozen hands ready to swat those who were brave enough to push through. The thunderous boom from the sky made the horses frantic, and as they kept neighing and prancing at every crack of thunder, the choice was obvious.

"We are not getting anywhere in this storm," exclaimed the masked elf, trying to speak clearly amids the rain and raging winds. Vesemir nodded, not after giving it a deep thought.

"I know, but to where?"

Both elves seemed to think about the very same thing. But Vesemir was the first to spell it out.

"We have to go back. That house near the river."

That house in in question was hard to miss indeed. The party strode past it some fifteen minutes ago before the storm picked up. Wordlessly the Gray Flame nodded as the middle-aged elf steered their wagon to backtrack their trail.

The effort to get back there was equally laborious, but now at least there was some semblance of hope to shelter themselves from this infernal downpour.

Surrounded by rotting red brick walls no taller than an average man's waist, it was a house with a clear sign of neglect. Located near the Silmetirta, the most distinguished feature of that building beside the giant saman tree that grew next to it, was a seemingly working water wheel built at the end of an intact wooden pier.

As the group rode closer, turned out the house had a proper stable behind it, connected with the house's extended roof. Though it seemed to have seen a better day and quite small, at least there would be a place for their horses to keep themselves.

Stepping on its wide roofed terrace, The Gray Glame was the first to approach the house, with Vesemir following behind him. Up close, it was a two-story traditional-style house with unremarkable architectural uniqueness. Yet typical to an elven building, was built with durable materials and quite large, as though to express that it once belonged to a profitable person.

Vesemir repeatedly knocked on the door, called out, and peaked through its blurry windows, but no soul seemed to dwell in that neglected building. The hard rain was still pouring, and the air started to get colder. Nodding to get an assurance that the house was indeed abandoned, the middle-aged elf finally reached for its knob and opened the door, which was unlocked, apparently.

The living room was spacious but sad, gloomy and arid. There was a fireplace at the end of the room, flanked by the stairs that lead to the second floor and a door that leads to an unknown corridor. Inside the living room was an assortment of common furniture; tables and cabinets on the corners, a large porcelain vase on a wooden base, and a couch, made of polished wood with paddings seemingly intact. Above the fireplace was an elven sword displayed on a plaque. It seemed to be one of a pair, but the other sword was found lying on top of a table in front of the couch. The sword, identical to that displayed on a plaque had a flawless blade, but its handle was stained with dried blood.

It didn't take long for Vesemir to get comfy. Nobody knows how long the house has been abandoned, but its ember-colored tiled floor was not as dusty as everyone thought it was, and the middle-aged elf quickly removed his muddy shoes and threw them outside like they were nothing.

"Stepen, get the lanterns," he said, stepping aside to let the others get in. After letting his clothes be drained as much as he could, Vesemir entered and immediately regarded Gray Flame, who since their arrival in this house had never uttered a single word.

"Well, this is a pretty nice house. A shame it was abandoned. Well, since we are here and the rain doesn't seem to be abating any time soon, we are going to spend a night here."

Pausing, Vesemir glanced at the room's high, washed-out ceiling before continuing. "I hope whoever owned this house wouldn't mind us intruding."

Roxas

The elven woman only offered a smile to him in regards to using the charm for herself. She reached forward, swiftly tying it to his person, though easily could be taken off. "Why would I use it for myself, when I made the charm for you?" Her ear twitched at the boisterous noise of Vesemir, leaning to look past the large man and listen.

She stood straighter, looking to the arm. She had been about to protest when he grabbed it and did the arm grab of a handshake. Her face didn't visibly say anything, but her body stiffened under his touch. She hadn't liked that too much. Once he let go, she twirled and grabbed her bow on the ground. "Sure! Let me set my bow down." She offered him a smile again, and followed after; setting her bow next to her bag and helping dismantle.

----

To lighten the travel noise, Roxas sat on the second wagon and played her flute softly. Hopefully nobody would object. Once the rain started its downpour, she put her flute away. Her gaze wandered the forest easily as they traveled; noting the house and them moving past. Once they retuned to take shelter from the rain, she didn't immediately enter the home. She stood off to the side, looking as best as she could through the rain at the surrounding area.

She wasn't sure what it was, but the area felt off to her. She gave a soft hum to herself, then entered the house. Her instinct stepping into an elven home made her remove her shoes as well, holding them as she stepped in and immediately towards the stairs, dropping her boots off next to the fireplace. As she walked to the stairs, she drew her dagger, making her way up silently. Just before moving up, she set her bag by the stairwell, making her movement as silent as possible.

Apparently, nobody was hiding upstairs. It was devoid of any trace of living being.

The second floor consisted of a large room that seemed to be an office or some sort of it. On the west side of the room, there was a large desk with a wooden chair that seemed still sturdy. On top of the desk, there was a crystal lamp, a flyer that reads "Introducing: Varenheim's newest commuter service' dated 30 years ago, and a gold brooch fitted with an emerald gem.

Not far from the desk, leaning against the wall by the north side of the room was a bookshelf filled with an assortment of medical books and tomes for the novice magic caster.

Next to it was a large decorated wooden chest, locked with a combination padlock that didn't seem too sturdy.

At the south of the room. There was a door leading to another room. Both the chest and the door seemed to be the only things in this room that had locks on them.

Engelbert was outside for the moment, helping the caravan hands settling the horses at the back. He always had a soft spot for the creatures, despite these ones being draft animals instead of the prized warhorses he once had. Patting one of them at the passing, the armored knight dragged and tilted over the old trough filled with stagnant water at the whinnying protest of the horses. He chuckled, muffled by the heavy rain, walking out with the now emptied trough in hand.

"Patience now, I'll be right back."

Off to the river he went, the raindrop drumming against his armor like a thousand arrows. A few rough scrub brushed off the worst of the moss, the bits of dirt sliding off his gauntlets like water off a duck's back. Rinse a few times and it's as good as new... well, mostly. Humming a marching tune, Engelbert refilled and carefully balanced the now sizeably weighty baggage on his shoulder. He ignored the gaping helpers as he marched back, carefully depositing the fresh water before the horses.

"I believe that is all. You can handle the rest, yes?"

He was answered with muted nods, satisfactory enough. Stomping back to the front, he let the rain wash over his greaves before finally stepping into the house. The entrance was tall enough, but he had to tilt sideways to accomodate for his bulk. Once inside, his gaze fell upon the room and the state of abandonment it was in. Not surprising, considering the similar state of the stable out back. Perhaps the others had figured something out.

"So! What did I missed?"

Her eyes searched everything from afar before she stepped further into the room, dagger still at the ready. Her hand lifted the flyer, giving a small nod. That would explain the stable behind the house. She eyed the lamp, noting the crystal in it. That should be taken apart and taken. It could be useful for something. Her gaze moved to the bookshelf, quickly scanning titles before looking to the chest.

She stood in front of it, hand on her hip as she looked to the lock. Her gaze lifted, looking around again before looking back to the chest. She squatted down, twirling her dagger so the blade was facing out towards the chest. Her eyes narrowed a little, and she reached forward, blade tapping at the chest and lock. She was testing if it was trapped; worse case, she'd heal herself.

--Varanheim - Alkautsar--

"Fufu~" The young patrician found it pleasing that Gray saw her martial skills to be adequate, she didn't need to be regarded as an expert swordsman, just decent would do. Whether Gray himself was aware of it or not, Eve regarded the masked elf as an authority figure, especially when it came to anything related to adventuring and fighting, thus his remark meant a lot to her. Satisfied that she had made her point - pun not intended - Eve sheathed her magical rapier before turning slightly toward the allegedly fearless Engelbert. "Why thank you, it's such a great honor to be praised by a legendary warrior such as yourself, Sir Engelbert." The redhead patrician quipped back with an elegant small bow.

Her business with Gray Flame done (for now), she left the two brothers-in-arms so they could arrange things with their employer, meanwhile, Eve returned to the larger plate-covered warrior in the group, "Fufu, your sentiments are wholly appreciated, Sir Forbann, though I still have much to learn, swordplay included," As Forbann began speaking, her purple eyes gazed over the Oni's armor and weapons, noticing their arcane nature, Enchanted armor, hmm? Just like Sir Engelbert’s then... perhaps he'll allow me to examine them in the future. With that plan shelved for now, she focused her attention on conversing with the Ferromancer Knight, "Why, to discover the undiscovered, of course. The ancient elves were known for their mythical magic after all, one can’t imagine the wondrous artifacts they had created over the millennia, I simply must get my hands on them, to study them, to uncover their secrets. Dangers and perils are expected in any expedition into uncharted lands, but come what way, I believe together, we shall prevail!"

Evelyn firmly nodded with a huff, then raised her right hand to clasp her chin as she took in Forbann's own reasons for being here, "So you wish to see the world beyond the confines of your homeland? Well then, you'll certainly start strong by heading to the Land of Twilight, Sir Forbann, if that place can't offer you new and exotic things to experience, then I don't know what will..." She paused, "Helvetia, perhaps? Fufu~ regardless, after we've returned, we'll love to welcome you in Venezia, Sir, you and all of our compatriots." But let's not get too hasty, first, they had an adventure to conquer.

As if on cue, Vesemir announced that they'd be departing with a rather grandiose speech. One which Evelyn found herself agreeing with every sentiment. With this, they shall make their marks upon history!

--Varanheim - En Route--

During the journey, Evelyn was content to sit nicely in one of the passenger wagons, taking up the least space out of everyone else in the group due to her size. Aside from writing - and sketching - entries into her personal journal, there wasn't anything notable to be done. This phase of the adventure would be a peaceful one it seemed...

...until Mother Nature herself decided to throw a little roadblock in the form of a fierce thunderstorm. The more superstitious folk would see this as an omen that they shouldn't continue, that venturing into the Land of Twilight would be their end, but there was a reason why such folks tended to be... less educated than most. Only simpletons would misconstrue natural weather phenomenons as some sort of divine omen.

Well, be that as it may, the storm still forced them to take shelter, how frustrating, but there wasn't anything Eve could do about it. Perhaps one day, I can craft a device capable of manipulating the weather itself... hmmm... And there, another entry in her journal.

--Varanheim - Abandoned Homestead--

After disembarking from the carriage, Evelyn proceeded to follow the Gray Flame alongside Vesemir, heading to the decrepit home's main entrance. Unlocked... The redhead noted, So this is truly an abandoned place, not simply neglected. She had a thought of brandishing her sword and drawing her revolver, but decided against it when she saw the monocled elf getting all comfortable. Mmm... Out of all things she could see in the living room, two stood out to her the most, those being the twin elven blades, one displayed on a plaque by the fireplace and the other strewn haphazardly on the table.

... Her curiosity pique, the Patrician Artificer sauntered over to the swords, specifically the one on the table first. Odd splotches... hmm, old blood? But whose? She'd immediately begin examining the weapon, her right hand reaching out to deftly trace runes in the air just above the elven sword, a simple scrying spell to gather information about the object, particularly its make, materials, condition, and most importantly, whether it possessed magical enchantments or not.

The books were all still in pristine condition. Like the flyer, they were printed 30 years ago. Some of them are titled "Bones for Beginners, Guide to Emergency Triage, The Discoveries of Bacteria, Current Medical Diagnosis and Treatment, Magical Codes 101, and How to Diagnose and Self-Sorrect Misaligned Mana Flow.

When Roxas tapped her blade against the container's wooden exterior, all she could hear was a small thud as normal. There was nothing unusual about the chest. Just a wooden one decorated with rather lavish trimmings

@Visyn

***

As the scrying spell seeped through, a surge of information rushed out from it in response. The stains were from the blood of an elven man, approximately 28-31 years old when the blood was spilled. The sword was exquisitely made and blessed with strengthening enchantment, and that explained its pristine and sharp condition.

Nanashi was been far from the others during the briefing but can be heard it by an ear range. He was convinced to tag along with them before he go for his own purpose. He kept himself tag along during the time they venture the road.

The elf nodded to herself, about to open the chest before pausing and looking out the window. Huh. She looked back to the lock and chest before getting up. She quickly moved down the stairs to her bag, grabbing it and bringing it upstairs. She rummaged quickly and grabbed her gloves. She slid them on after sheathing her dagger, and looked around the room again. She reexamined the flyer, reading it over, then setting it down.

She fiddled with what was in the chest after breaking the lock. She closed the chest for now.

Her gaze moved to the books, but she would read those later; always good to have medical knowledge, even if its outdated a bit. She moved to the door with the lock, leaning forward and trying to listen to see if she can hear anything, not quite touching her ear to it.

Nanashi found nothing but the things had been left for a very long time. Scrutinizing it made him convinced himself that this house had been unattended for the very long time.

The shinobi decided to link up the elven woman to bring her back to the rest of the part. With a ki is active he able to track her down in her location without getting blow his presence.

"You, what are you doing here?

You supposed to be with others." Nanashi spoke on the Treasure Hoarder elven woman.

After some forceful twisting, the padlock gave in. Despite being worn out by time, the chrome-plated shackle on it was still unbendable the dagger would suffer some blunt on its edge for the effort.

Inside the chest was a white book that seemed to be heavier than any other books on the shelf. It was a journal secured with a magnetic clasp that could actually be opened with small effort. Under it was a photo of two people, the first person in that photo was a young, energetic brown-haired elven man posing with two fingers making a V sign. Beside him was a fair-haired elven woman, standing with a deadpanned expression.

The other item inside the chest was a dagger, a jade bracelet with no ornaments whatsoever, and a punctured, bloodstained leather quiver that at some point seemed to have a spear being run through it. There was also a mithril hairpin with jasmine ornaments on it, secured inside a transparent box.

As she attempts to listen to the door, her gaze averts to the window. It's an old house, any noise on top of it would be heard; except there's heavy rain, but the lack of rain in certain spots is also a give away. Her hand moved to her quiver, pulling an arrow from it as she stayed leaning. She wasn't focused on the door anymore, her attention to the window.

The sudden noise of the rain as the window opened let her know the person was now inside. She didn't hesitate, her hand and arm flinging the arrow at Nanashi. She purposely missed him, but the intent was clear. She pulled her dagger out again, brandishing it against her arm in a backward grip. Her other hand coming up as she got into a defensive stance. "I'm not sure that's any of your business what I do and don't do. Why aren't you with the others then?" She frowned, now clearly on edge at the sudden appearing man in her presence.

A familiar sound made of trajectory didn't flinched him at all. Thanks to ki sensing, he predicted it's flight line.

"Last time I encountered a lone elf,

Was ganged up by hired assassins.

I'm about to conduct an infiltration at the house for the counter measures and I seen you went straight upstairs.

I'm Nanashi. I'm with Sir Vesemir Barandir."

The elf narrowed her eyes further, not letting up on her stance. "As we are all part of the same company, we are free to walk about as we please. I can walk about and investigate things myself. You should think more carefully before you suddenly appear behind people. If I had been a human, you might have been in for more hurt than a simple arrow." She clicked her tongue at him, glaring now.

She was definitely pissed. "I'm investigating this room, find somewhere else. Once I find everything, I will bring the information to everyone downstairs." She stood, releasing her defensive stance; though she didn't put away her dagger.

The elf waited for him to leave the room before softly swearing under her breath about sneaking up on people and startling them. She shook her head, moving to the door she was trying to investigate. She looked to the door and leaned forward again, trying to listen to see if there was anything that would be a need to get more people for.

Her eyes drifted to the lock as she listened, taking note if it was a similar design to the one on the chest. She had suffered damage to her dagger by opening the other lock with it. She did have her woodcarving tools, they'd probably be able to lock pick the lock. She should really invest in a lock picking set.

The door was locked, but when Roxas pushed it a bit to fiddle with its lock, the door budged just a tiny bit. The lock was still holding the door shut, but it was apparent that either the bolt had become loose by age, or the strike plates on the frame had had all the woods around it rotted away.

Like with the chest lock, it was entirely possible to just force open the thing.

The elf looked to the door properly, giving a hum to herself before she grabbed her woodcarving set from her bag. She pulled it open and grabbed one of her larger shaving tools and went back to the door. Her hand moved to the places she figured the wood would be rotted, pressing her fingers into it just enough to see how freely it gave away. Once she found the first spot, she put her tools perpendicular to the spot, and raised the small mallet from her set she had also grabbed. Hopefully the other side wasn't trapped.

If the spot gave away the way she hoped, she would continue to work on the rotten spots.

Nanashi descended at downstairs.
"I need a lighting. A working torch or a latern will do.

We have an elf upstairs prying things alone in the semi dark. A perfect spot for an ambush or some traps."
The shinobi told everyone. He changed his mind and decided to accompany that Treasure Horder Elven woman and give her a lighting. He can move and blend on the dark but for normal individual that would be a problem especially that individual is alone in the dark.
