Bearing long, rose-hued locks and a somewhat fit figure, Hestia stands at 5'6" and weighs about 137 pounds. Most of the time, her hair is left to tumble over her shoulders. Her eyes, a dark magenta that at times border on crimson, are often seen fixated into a determined glare. Some may comment on the paleness of her skin, but she considers this something to be proud of, seeing as she comes from the icy region of Circhester.

Her choice in fashion leaves nothing to be envied. Hestia doesn't really care about looking cool or flashy on her days off from work. Instead, she values comfortabilty over beauty; cotton slacks, sneakers, boots, fuzzy sweaters and t-shirts are among her favorite articles of clothing to wear. Such a fact leaves people surprised when they see her in proper gym leader attire.

Personality:
Hot-headed. Brash. Crude. A show-off. These are the first words that might come to mind when they think of Hestia Joy, the Fire-type gym leader of Galar. Honestly, these assumptions are correct, though they only encompass a small portion of Hestia's overall personality. This young woman believes she has something to prove, so she isn't afraid of showing it. Her flamboyant yet arrogant disposition may rub off on certain other gym leaders the wrong way, but those who are closest to her know that she has a heart of gold. She stands her ground for what she believes is right, no matter what it might cost her-- or others, at that. Hestia abhors injustices and abuse against Pokemon, so much so that she coddles her own as if they were her own children.

Along with her fiery disposition, Hestia shelters a terrible case of imposter syndrome and is known to be quite insecure. One could easily get under her skin if they know where to prod, but push her too much and one is wont to face her wrath. Such a fury can also become incredibly out of control; there have been times where she has said things that she later on regrets, and her rash actions during the Champion's Cup have cost her the crown on more than one occasion.

Despite everything else, Hestia is a hard-worker and quite possibly an over-worker. She takes her job way too seriously and is constantly on edge about doing well enough to keep herself in the higher ranks of the Major League.

Short Biography:
Hestia Joy was born in the heart of a violent blizzard and into a midst of a very large family. Her pink hair and amber eyes surely denoted her as a member of the Joy family, a prestigious bloodline of healers that are scattered across several regions throughout the world. It only made sense that as soon as she came into this world, it was assumed that she would follow their footsteps and become a nurse along with them. Hestia grew to become a rather rambunctious little girl, often getting into scraps with her little brothers, sisters, and cousins. Even then, they still loved playing with another, and together they tended to the smaller species of Pokemon that occupied Circhester. Her connection with Pokemon came almost naturally due to the influence of her heritage. As she grew older, such connections proved useful in the treatments she provided to sick or injured Pokemon. For the longest time, Hestia thought that she was following her calling, her fate. She was a Joy doing what Joys did. There was nothing else that she could ask for.

Everything changed on a cold, crisp winter morning. Seventeen-year old Hestia left her home on a quick trip to the local store when she came upon a heated Pokemon battle. She didn't know why she stopped to watch; her part of her family viewed Pokemon battles as brutal and unnecessary, as she was told several times by her mother. "Pokemon battles are only for the entertainment of humans," she had told her, "there should be no reason we should force such innocent creatures to fight to the near death." Yet, there was something different in this battle. The way the trainers' Pokemon moved on the field sparked something deep within her chest. In those few moments, the Pokemon and their perspective trainers were as one. And if they were the same entity on the battlefield, then what was it like off of it? The question gnawed her head for the better part of the year. Her desire to heal Pokemon dwindled into mere embers. Flames of passion blossomed anew when she saw advertisements for the Galar Region Gym Challenge. It was then that she knew what she was truly meant to be. She was going to be a Pokemon trainer. Surely, her parents would support her change in career path.

Things didn't go as planned. Her parents disowned her as soon as she mentioned her newfound passion and she was thrown onto the street with little else but the clothing on her back. Bitter-hearted, she traveled from town to town in search of a proper start. She spent many nights camping underneath star-filled skies and in small caves. It was about two week into her travels that she came across the Slumbering Weald, and it was there that she stumbled upon an injured Wooloo resting underneath a thick-leaved tree. After tending to the Pokemon, the Wooloo decided to stay with her for her travels, and the two quickly became friends. She named the Pokemon Ramsey, and together they began their journey as trainer and partner.

With no sponsor, Hestia knew she had to make her way through the Minor League before she had a shot at the Gym Challenge. That was easy enough; she blew right through the League with Ramsey and the rest of the team she had assembled. At nineteen years old, she was now eligible to take part of the Galar Region Gym Challenge, and she wasted no time in enlisting. It should have been easy enough the first time to get through the challenge the first time, but she still rode on the adrenaline that she had after blitzing through the Minor League. The Major League wouldn't be much different for her. Her aspirations came skidding to a halt when she lost to the Fire-type gym leader at the very end of the challenge-- three times in a row. With that, she was knocked out of the challenge and flat on her ass.

Hestia was daunted for the first time in her life. The year that followed was spent half-wallowing, half-training. When it was time for the Gym Challenge once again, she wasted no time in enlisting. Her team was stronger than before; Ramsey had grown into a stalwart Dubwool, and the way she had crafted her new team was inspired by the Fire-type gym leader that decimated her teammates in the year prior. This time, she reigned victorious over their duel, and she moved on to the Champion's Cup-- where she was once again defeated. The cycle occurred anew in the next year. No matter how hard she tried, Hestia simply couldn't become Champion. But she could become something else. The Fire-type gym leader, having sustained an injury that crippled his right leg in the midst of a ferocious battle, decided it was time for him to retire. In turn, he gave his spot as gym leader to Hestia.

This wasn't enough for her. She knew she would become Champion one day. Though, staying as a gym leader for the time being was a pretty good deal...

Appearance Information: Luca is a tall man standing at 6'0 who's usually sporting a bit of facial hair unless the Chairman invites them to some fancy shmancy banquet. He loves his baggy jeans and coats, and sometimes will wear short sleeved shirts that will show off his various tattoos.

He has two full sleeves of tattoos in honor of his Pokemon, both alive and fallen.

Luca also keeps a keychain with acrylic pieces of his Pokemon on his person. He insists it's cause it makes his Pokemon happy.

Personality:

A tough front with a soft spot for cute things. He keeps up the bravado since without it, people think it's an invitation to poke fun or joke about the big tough guy having a "girly" team. Luca is a nice guy all around who enjoys some nice liquor and hanging out with friends from time to time. When he's not creating keychain figurines of Pokemon, he's working on his physique or bonding with his team. Some would consider him hard to approach based on appearance alone, but Luca doesn't mind the reputation all that much. If anything, it's kinda fun to see what new rumors kids bring about the "big scary" fairy gym leader.

Short Biography:

Luca is the eldest son to a loving father and older brother of two little sisters; one who is sweet as pie (Penelope) and the other a destructive little shit (Lily). His mother, one day, decided she didn't want to be a mom anymore and instead went to Paldea to pursue a career in... something. Luca didn't remember nor care to. All he knew was that she abandoned her "boring" life to pursue greener grass, leaving her ex-husband to pick up the pieces of both the family and his broken heart.

Luca's father worked hard to ensure his three children lived normal childhoods, and when Luca himself was 11, he helped out with cooking and cleaning until his father insisted that he pursue Pokemon training. Luca, by that time, had grown interested in Pokemon and even begged for a pet Eevee at one point. However, since the house was small and Lily was running rampant, it never happened.

He was hesitant though. It would mean leaving his dad too, and he didn't want his dad to do everything on his own again!

After some time and persuasion from his family, Luca agreed to become a trainer. He got the Eevee he always wanted as his starter Pokemon and began his journey. Since the Eevee was an excitable little bunch, he named his pal "Happy".

Happy ended up evolving into a Sylveon, and Luca ended up favoring Fairy types due to their cuteness reminding him of his sisters.

As he grew, his growth spurt hit him hard and the scars of various Pokemon battles started to show, leading to the tough looking exterior of someone you shouldn't mess with. But when his peers saw his fairy team, it would lead to shock and sometimes ridicule. Luca didn't let him dissuade him from his favorite type, but he would learn to keep the why a secret. He would continue to train hard and battle harder, losing a few Pokemon along the way but doing his damnedest to never let those mistakes happen again.

When the gym challenge opened up, Luca decided to toss his hat into the ring and participate. He and his team fought hard, and while he did get a nice little ego boost from the battles he did win, he ended up getting demolished and his streak was cut short. Since he was only in it for the fun and maybe a bit of cash, he shrugged his shoulders and stuck around to say congratulations to the winner. Luca decided now would be a good time to put an end to all the traveling.

After he returned home with his new best friends, he decided to work at the Fairy gym and rent himself a place at the gym's location.

The retiring gym leader chose him to take on the responsibilities, but Luca insisted that they battle so he could earn the spot fair and square. He was comfortable in his spot as a gym trainer and he'd seen the leader's bond with her team, there was no way he'd win right?

"Well shit..." Was his choice of words when his new title as gym leader was made official.

Leander stands over six feet with a lithe build, and the fact that he always tends to stand up straight doesn't help him looming over most people he stands next to. Sporting long black hair, already streaked with silver (it adds to the mystique!) and gray eyes make him stand out slightly less than some of his counterparts within the League, but the shiny bits and pins that make their way into his hair or onto his clothes make that a moot point.

He is often concerned with his appearance when in public, and on the gym floor, as he is easily recognized by the general public for both his acting career and his time as a gym leader (not fully by choice, PR is just a nightmare). Comfortable clothes are reserved for at home, when he knows no one is coming over, and costuming is reserved for set and the gym scene much to his disappointment. Being out means neat suits and shined shoes, though his own touches do sneak in to much of his clothing.

Personality:
Confident, determined, and maybe a little bit overdramatic, Leander fits well in the limelight both as an actor in the off-season and a high ranking gym leader during the challenge season. This especially comes out during matches with a full dragon hunter character to fit his mighty team. He thrives off the attention and is usually a little too eager to chat with fans, even when he has something else important to do (so long as they're the respectful kind).

Despite many people thinking they know Leander well, and taking his open book presentation as a statement of fact, he struggles to let his full guard and mask down around anyone; hiding behind the persona of a confident, well-liked gym leader and shoving any problems deep into the background where they can't be a bother. He is quick to take on others burdens as his own, and drop whatever he's doing to offer advice or a shoulder to lean on to his fellow gym leaders or his challengers.

He often tends to take on more than he can handle, and is constantly juggling new hobbies and interests, leading to a lot of late nights and a common habit of dozing off just about anywhere when he is able to snag a moment of quiet. The only thing that rivals his love of the stage is his adoration for his dragons and he will do whatever it takes to keep things moving forward.

Short Biography:
Born in the seaside town of Hulbury to a pair of marine Pokémon researchers, along with his twin brother Julian, there was always something to do, though that usually had to do with the water. In his younger years he and his brother spent much of their time either swimming or out on a boat with their parents as they couldn't be left alone by themselves without causing some sort of trouble. He and his brother were virtually attached at the hip through most of his youth, and gained a bit of a reputation around town, and not necessarily the most flattering one.

His parents had high hopes for both their sons to follow in their footsteps and stay in Hulbury to continue their research after they decided to retire. Julian was all for it, having always had a science minded brain, but Leander was more interested in the gym challenge and the spectacle of it all. His parents reluctantly agreed, provided that he build his team with the water types from the waters around Hulbury.

Their request almost went well, until a freak storm along the coast while he was out attempting to catch new members for his team tossed him into the water and the only thing that saved his life was a Kingdra that recognized his struggle and got him back to shore.

A newfound dislike for the water, but a growing fascination for dragon types after his experience, led him to defy his parents and release his water type team. His parents, unhappy with the defiance, put all of their attention onto their other son, driving a wedge between the brothers and leaving Leander to forge his own path.

And forge his own path he did, stealing a Seadra from his parents lab and striking out on his own to attempt to find his footing in the gym challenge with a team constructed the way he wanted it to be. Despite his losses as he worked through the challenge, he found himself more and more comfortable and confident the more time he spent in the roaring crowds of the gym. The gym challenge became just as much for the showmanship as the battling for him; leading to an off season gig as an actor that blew up into a more lucrative career than Leander ever anticipated.

He took some time off from the challenge to travel and perform, building out a team of dragon types whenever he got the opportunity to track one down. Once back in Galar he threw his hat into the ring for another season in the challenge and made it closer to winning than he ever had before. Despite staggering at the finish line he made enough of an impact and impression to be tracked down when a position opened up in the league.

Stands about 5'7" with a constantly straight-backed, cocky stance. She usually has her hair up, and the tips dyed in some capacity. She has a number of tattoos, the two most notable on her arms and neck, but there are a few more on her legs and back.

Sloan likes to wear mostly tighter fit clothing when she's training to avoid snagging on things, or giving her opponents something to grab onto. Most of the time, if she's out and about, she wears a leather jacket, jeans, and boots since she rides her motorcycle pretty much everywhere. However, when she's spending time by herself though she prefers comfy clothes that are a number of sizes too big for her. Generally she doesn't give two shits about what she looks like.

Personality:
It is unusual to not see a smile plastered on Sloan's face. She is the kind of person that wants everyone to have a good time and will go out of her way to ensure that. She is easily excited by things that grab her interest and tends to overexaggerate most everything just for the fun of it. She is likely to make snap judgements and not fully think through what she's doing before she does it. Doesn't really matter the situation she will jump in guns blazing.

She's highly competitive, ambitious, and determined to win at almost any cost. Her usual strategy of winning a battle is to overwhelm with sheer force rather than go in depth into any tactics. She does know her type match ups though and uses that to compensate for the fact that very few of her Pokémon have anything but attack moves. This does occasionally translate out of the gym and she will throw punches at someone who pisses her off enough.

There is a more calm side that comes out on the rare occasion, mostly when she's drawing or doing more meditative training. She does pride herself in her creativity with most things though she doesn't take criticism on her work very well. Once she has made her mind up about something it isn't likely to change even if someone in a higher position than her tells her so. In fact that usually makes her stick to her stance harder than before.

Short Biography:
Originally Sloan was born in Hammerlocke and grew up alongside her brother Adam. For the first few years of life she grew up pretty textbook until her mother passed away. Since that point she was raised by her father who was busy with his work alongside an up and coming Pokémon professor. While it did make him busy she had her brother to hang out with and once she got older her father started taking the both of them with him all over Galar to watch battles.

It was that that sparked her love of battling. Even if she was too young to get her first Pokémon she begged her father to let her join a martial arts dojo. The man was more than willing to do whatever his children wanted most of the time so he easily acquiesced. She enjoyed the physical fights and grew to love the fighting type Pokémon that many of the members at the dojo had.

Once she was old enough she got her first Pokémon, a Torchic that was a gift from her father. She thought about joining the gym challenge right away, but instead she elected to join her father in his travels all over the world learning about Pokémon. She built her team as she went and by the time she made it back to Galar she was able to join the gym challenge and easily make her way through. She was upset about losing the Champion's Cup, more so than she really cared to admit, but she held her head high just the same.

She popped back into the dojo she trained in as a child for a bit, training both herself and her team. One or two more runs at the gym challenge told her she wasn't likely to ever beat the champion, but she's content to keep training and keep fighting to get there. She'd get to the top one way or another, though she still spends a great deal of her free time at the dojo training.

Appearance Information: Vivienne is a young woman standing at around 5'5 and favors punk fashion. She'll often have her hair down purposely messy and many piercings in her ears. She doesn’t have any tattoos but she plans to get one anyday now!

When she's doing her job as a gym leader, she wears a huge pink princess dress with her hair up in a messy bun to complement the shiny rose gold tiara adorned with amethysts. Vivienne would have loved to add some black into the mix, but her agent insists that only evil queens wore black, so she's stuck with the pink.

Personality:

Vivienne, when she’s not doing her job, is a big metalhead with a lot of spunk. She has a laidback attitude about most things and tends to always have a lazy smile on her face. Though she’s often thought of as a “go with the flow” type of person, she’s incredibly analytical when it comes to battling with her team and thinking of a strategy on the fly. After all, brute force can only do so much.

When she’s working, Vivienne takes the haughty princess attitude and cranks it up to 11. It’s, in her words, “the only time she hopes a bitch like her loses”.

Don’t get her wrong, she loves acting, being dramatic, and the attention she receives being portrayed as the villain. She wants her gym to not only be memorable, but exciting and satisfying to win.

Short Biography:

Born and raised in Spikemuth, Vivienne’s love for dark fashion and awesome music stemmed from a young age. Her father, who is the brother of Luca’s father, was there for the heartbroken family when Vivienne’s aunt decided to up and leave everything behind. At the time, Vivienne was much too young to understand what was going on, but was caught up later on and resented her aunt for her selfishness.

Her parents themselves were researchers who took a special interest in trade Pokemon; specifically what it was about trading them over from one trainer to another that would make them evolve. Vivienne herself shared an interest in Pokemon too and was preparing herself to become a researcher too, but that all changed when she was taken to a gym challenge battle for her birthday as a teenager.

The energy from the crowd, watching Pokemon and trainers in perfect sync as they battled worthy foes, and the sparks that flew with each attack had Vivienne’s heart pumping. She wanted to do that too! Why waste her energy learning about Pokemon biology when she could be a trainer and do something even cooler?!

Though her parents were reluctant, knowing first hand how dangerous Pokemon can be, they supported her by giving her a starter Eevee like her cousin got and sent her on her way.

As she collected Pokemon and fought with various types, it took a while before Vivienne realized just how kickass Steel types were. She hung out with them in her camp, played with them, and watched some of them grow from tiny little things to badass monsters. It was satisfying as hell seeing her little buddies grow up to be big buddies. And during her times at home, she’d write songs, upload them, and research ways on how to become better in Pokemon training and in music production. She would also upload songs to the internet under the name Princess Metal, which doesn't get much attention but what can ya do?

Vivienne took the gym challenge herself, where she and her team did the best they could, but ultimately she was defeated in the end. With a smile and a shrug, she stuck around to watch the new champion be crowned then went on her merry way.

But before she could leave the town, she was stopped by a dude named Michael. He was a talent agent looking for some, well, talent. He liked the energy and attitude she put out and heard some of her music. He came here in the hopes that he’d run into her when he learned she was a trainer. Michael offered her a contract where he’d help her rise to the top.

After Vivienne took a red pen and crossed off sections like “Michael will have full creative control” and “70/30 cut”, Michael grumbled while he signed the contract, thus beginning their partnership.

It was his idea to turn her gym into a giant castle and have her play a princess with her steel types, but since she sucked at acting he paid to have her take lessons. Surprisingly, she loved it and continued to improve on her own time. Vivienne would also use this opportunity to write and compose songs to play in the background of the battles to hype things up. Her music gets exposure and Michael's idea comes to fruition; a win-win.

This partnership led them to the now, where Vivienne is his talent that barely listens to him and Michael who has to hire a PR team occasionally due to her not watching what she’s saying or doing something stupid on camera. As of now, he is currently trying to get her to turn to Pop music since her "natural sexed up look" would sell millions. She told him to take his pen and shove it.

Stands at about 5’8”. Skin is fair, long blonde hair, has a lithe build. Somewhat toned musculature, moderate bust.

Typically wears casual clothing such as plain T-shirts and jeans, but makes the token effort of putting on a fashionable jacket. Always seen with a pair of flying goggles around her head, for use in the skies.

When the occasion calls for it, has a full Sky Trainer glider suit for both Sky Battles and official appearances as a Gym Leader. Wears her Dynamax Band on her right wrist, with a Key Stone mounted into the opposite side of the wristband from where the plate is.

Personality:
A free spirit by all accounts, Fiona prefers not to be burdened by much outside of her Pokemon and her Gym. She’s relaxed and lackadaisical, unconcerned with what others think so long as she’s satisfied with her own performance. She’s a wanderer at heart, spending much of her time outside of League-mandated Gym battles soaring the skies of Galar atop one of her many Flying Pokemon.

Despite her carefree nature, or, as some would believe, because of it, Fiona is a hard book to read. It’s difficult to accurately get a handle on what she wants or is thinking, and she tends to just go with the flow much of the time.

Of course, that isn’t to say there isn’t a brain underneath all the laziness and aimless wandering. She’s a quick wit when she’s forced to be, and aims for efficiency in what she does, so as to better get things over with and go back to a state of relaxation.

Short Biography:
While born in the icy southern town of Freezington, Fiona only spent a portion of her early years there. By the age of nine, she moved with her family to Kalos for a number of years on account of her parents’ work. It was in Kalos that Fiona saw her first Sky Battle, inspiring a love of Flying Pokemon and the open sky itself that she carries to this day.

During her stay in Kalos, Fiona became a certified Sky Trainer by her teenage years along with her regular schooling before her family returned to Galar. Upon finishing high school, Fiona immediately set out on that year’s Gym Challenge, wanting to explore the homeland she’d spent most of her teenage years out of. She won her eight badges handily enough, but was knocked out in the semi-finals of the Champion’s Cup.

Losing didn’t particularly bother Fiona. Hell, she’d gotten further than she’d expected herself. And being Champion was a burden she wouldn’t have really wanted anyway. Interviews, public appearances, actual duties? No thanks. So with a smile and a shrug, Fiona decided to continue her journey, spending the next few years traveling from region to region, learning about different varieties of Flying Pokemon while exploring all she wanted to. She didn’t let up on honing her battling skills, either. Fiona took part in the professional battling circuit across the world, from Mt. Battle to the Frontier.

It was on a break from her journey back home in Galar that Fiona was approached to become a Gym Leader by one of the current Leaders looking to retire. While initially resistant to the idea of being tied down in one place, she was eventually worn down by persistent arguments and the knowledge that she could always quit if the responsibility really was too much. Of course, the salary and job stability didn’t hurt either. After all, maintaining a career as a professional battler was an uncertain thing at the best of times. So with yet another shrug, Fiona stepped into the next chapter of her life.

She’s been at the job for three years now, and has performed rather admirably despite her own doubts to the contrary. Fiona’s attitude isn’t always appreciated, but she brings in ratings with her battles and contributes decently to the community outside of the challenge season, both patrolling the Wild Area for incidents and helping to train the Flying Taxi service’s Corviknights.

Charles enjoys working with and mentoring younger Trainers, seeking to pass on what he knows to the next generation. Despite his patience, however, he has no tolerance for willful ignorance or excessive pride and tends to look down on those who do display such traits.

As a veteran Trainer and a former Champion, he has a wealth of knowledge, but is entirely willing to learn from the modern age. Actually, he delights in watching and researching new training and battling tactics, as well as modern advancements in general. BIOGRAPHY:
Born in Wyndon nearly a lifetime ago, Charles was the middle child of a pair of blue-collar workers. Out of both a desire for adventure and wanting to reduce the number of mouths his household had to feed, he set off on his Pokemon journey at a rather young age. Back in those days, the Gym Challenge hadn't been as formalized or as massive of an event as it is now, but he still made a good accounting for himself, making it all the way to the Champion before being defeated.

Though disgraced by defeat, Charles found that he'd had a knack for this Pokemon training thing, and stuck with it, having formed genuine bonds with the Pokemon he'd trained along the way. Despite still being a teenager, he left Galar for several years, traveling the world and taking part in the tournament circuit to support himself, sending money back to his family when he could. A decade later, he returned a full-grown man and swept the Gym Challenge before defeating the Champion, taking the title for himself.

Charles's reign as Champion lasted a good number of years, his popularity bolstered by his everyman, working-class origins. During these years, he'd married, had children, and subsequently gotten divorced in short order, with both parents sharing joint custody. Eight years into his title reign, he was finally defeated, but took it in good grace, firmly beliving that his replacement was a solid choice as Champion.

Over the next few decades, Charles faded from the public eye, investing his winnings from his Championship to open up a bar in Hulbury called the Cliffside. He spent the years managing his business, keeping his Pokemon in good shape, and raising his children when he had custody of them. About ten years ago, with his children full-fledged adults and out in the world, Charles was searching for something to occupy his time. Eventually, he decided to make an attempt to get back into the game. In truth, Chairman Amaranth was rather shocked to see his old friend simply applying for a Gym Leader position. Still, Charles's credentials were impeccable as an ex-Champion, and in truth, he'd kept his skills sharp for long enough that he'd outclassed most of the other applicants that year looking to occupy the vacant position.

Thus, Charles has been a Gym Leader in Hulbury for a decade, being content to integrate it with his existing business. Thus, the Hulbury Gym is located in a rather unassuming side street just off of the coast, serving as a Pokemon Gym by day and a bar by night.

Beryl is a simple woman with a simple style. Her dark brown hair, naturally streaked by honey-blonde locks, is constantly pulled into a messy bun. Her freckled skin boasts a farmer's tan from many days spent under the sun slaving away at dig sites; surprisingly, she is still prone to sunburn. She is almost never seen without her round-framed glasses due to the fact that she is blind without them, and no-- she will not swap them out for contacts. She keeps a small yet simple wardrobe: dark tank-tops and shorts for the summer, and turtlenecks and slacks for the winter. All of her outfits are accentuated by her white lab coat, which she is quite proud of.

Personality:
A bit bland and dry at times, Beryl is the type of woman that focuses a bit too much on her research. There have been times where she has spent days hunched over a desk pouring over books or samples all while surviving on pots and pots of coffee and tea with copious amounts of rock candy. Her obsession with her work has led her to become a bit of a recluse, only ever leaving her home or lab in order to attend social gatherings led by Ryker or Hyacinth or carry out her job as a gym leader. This has led some people to believe her to be an antisocial, curt, and bitter woman that has been slighted by life and would rather wallow in her loneliness than entertain others.

Those closest to her know that these assumptions could be no further from the truth. Beryl is quite the warm and homely woman who boasts a fiery passion for her studies. Some have told stories of "being held hostage" at Beryl's home as she fed them hearty meals and rambled on about differently colored rocks and fossils until late at night. Though she surprisingly bears incredible amount of patience, it takes a while for one to earn Beryl's trust; she much rather place her confidence in her own Pokemon or assistants than someone like Ryker or Hyacinth.

Short Biography:
Beryl was born the first and only child of a pair of lowly miners within Stow-on-Side. Her childhood was mostly spent in poverty, which in turn caused the other children of the town to shun and bully her for her family's economic standing. She often cried when she was dropped off at school and threw tantrums when disciplined for her poor behavior-- of course, this led her to be further ostracized from her peers, and she ultimately dropped out of primary school in favor of home-schooling. Her father eventually scrounged together enough savings to hire a teacher to provide Beryl with a proper education. Being taught at home provided Beryl with the opportunity to learn things at her own pace alongside ample free time, which she spent collecting rocks and shiny things, such as precious minerals and fossils. After finding success in the home-school program, her parents found that it took little for their only daughter to blossom into a fine young girl, but her timidness would persist even after completing her required courses. That was no matter, for by the time that Beryl was 17, she boasted many friends in the form of Rock and Ground Pokemon.

It was little wonder that, when it came time for Beryl to decide what she wanted to do with her life, she decided to partake in the region's Gym Challenge. Her father was the one that provided her with her first Pokemon for her journey-- a tiny Tyrunt with a chip on its shoulder. Together, they traveled through Galar, gathering allies and friends, but also forming fiery rivalries with other trainers. Unfortunately, and like many trainers, Beryl was simply not skilled enough to persist on the path of victory. In the face of defeat, she ultimately decided that she was not talented enough to finish the challenge, much less become Champion of the region. Instead of training further, she dropped out of the competition and enrolled herself in university so that she could earn a degree in paleontology.

Schooling came easier to Beryl this time around, though she still found it difficult to make friends. More often than not, she studied and completed research in the presence of her Pokemon, whose simple existence provided her enough motivation to continue past the first four years of university. She earned her doctorate earlier than most people expected her to; she completed her thesis at 25 and was granted her diploma at 26. Having completed multiple internships during her time as a student, she was quickly recruited to be a junior researcher at the Wyndon Institute. Work as an actual paleontologist came easy to her, and thanks to her connections from university and her reputable knowledge in her field, she became a fossil preparator by the end of the year. Such success was short-lived, however; her passion for her subject led her to become bitter about the way fossils were reformed into living Pokemon. She deemed the recently revived Dracovish, Arctovish, Dracozolt, and Arctozolt abominations and proclaimed that they be pulled from public eye, much to the ire of her team and supervisors. Beryl was the heart of the discontent within her squadron, and, after many weeks of arguments, she was promptly demoted to junior researcher-- which did not earn her enough pay to survive in Wyndon. Against what everyone at the institute told her, Beryl quit her job in a fit of rage and moved back home with her parents.

But Beryl could not resist the call for adventure very long. At 27, Beryl's temperament mirrored Skarn's, who had grown into a ferocious Tyrantrum. Together, along with the rest of her team, Beryl plowed through the gyms and completed the Gym Challenge, causing an uproar among the elite of Galar due to the fact that Beryl had no sponsor. Her victory was cut short at helm of the challenge itself-- at the feet of Ryker himself. Though, this defeat was not as bitter as Beryl feared; impressed by her sheer determination and resilience, Ryker and the aging Bug-type gym leader discussed the latter's retirement and reached a quick agreement on the very field of the championship battle. Beryl was made to take her place as leader.

Beryl did not expect these developments and, at first, rejected the offer. Ryker, however, countered her arguments, stating that her calling was to pave the way for younger generations of trainers. With the young Champion refusing to budge from his stance, Beryl begrudgingly agreed to take up the helm of the Rock-type leader of the League, though on the condition that she be allowed to pursue her own research at the newly opened research facility at Hammerlocke. Thankfully, Ryker agreed.
