Welcome to Camp Jupiter! Home to Roman Demigods (and some Greeks).

Some 40 years ago, Percy Jackson found his way to our Camp. With the help of our old Praetor, Jason Grace,(and some other friends) Camp Jupiter and Camp Half-Blood learned of one another and helped put at end to threats at that time. Now, the two groups live (mostly) in peace, traveling from one Camp to the other. Some Greek Demigods have even had the honor of training with the Legion of Camp Jupiter.

For years, the two groups have lived in peace. Something now lurks in the shadows, making our demigods uneasy. Tensions are running high. The protective barrier around New Rome seems to be falling. Certain groups blame others for the newfound troubles, while other's try to find a solution. Will old rivalries cause New Rome to fall, or will the demigods be able to come together once again?

What's up dudes?

This is my take on the Percy Jackson Universe. I know a lot of people usually tend to lean towards the Greek side of things, so I wanted to do the duty of introducing you all to New Rome. Feel free to ask questions. I'll be posting the official RP thread sometime within the next few days (perhaps sooner depending on the amount of interest.

An important note is that while this is a PJ spinoff, we are focusing on Camp Jupiter and more specifically New Rome. So while there will be fantasy aspects like supernatural abilities and monsters - there will also be a huge SoL/small town aspect.

PSA: Just because you apply does not mean that you/your character will be approved. I’m open to anyone applying; but if you give me a character sheet with zero effort, or have a history of ghosting roleplays, I’m not letting you in, my dude.

  • First and foremost, we do have a posting rule. You must post once per month, per character. Each character will have their own timer. You can - and are definitely encouraged - to post more than this. If you need an extension, communicate that no later than seven days before your deadline. An extension of seven days can be granted if enough heads up is given.
  • Communication is key. I don’t feel like I should really have to explain that one. That being said, you MUST be able to join the Discord Server for our RP. I’ve tried to have writers who don’t want to be part of the server(s) before, and it just never works out.
  • Don’t apply if you aren’t going to put in effort, dude. Your character sheet doesn’t have to be immaculate - and you don’t have to talk to everyone on the Discord every day - but if you’re just gonna bail in a few weeks, then stay in whatever hole you crawled out of.
  • Keep the drama IN CHARACTER. Not in the OOC, not in the Discord, not anywhere else. Gods forbid an issue does arise with you and another player, please feel free to inform me. I will do my best to help with the situation if I think I can.
  • Pre-established relations are highly encouraged as this is a collaborative writing piece. I am not requiring a set amount of relationships to be written out; I am trusting you as writers to put in the effort to create what roleplay experience that you want for yourselves.
  • You gotta be okay with the potential of your character dying and being injured. Plain and simple. Sorry, not sorry. No one is safe.
  • There might be heavy themes in the RP - like, ya know - death. There’s also probably gonna be some more ‘adult themes’ like drinking, smoking and like… idk, having bills to pay? If you aren’t okay with the potential of dark/heavy themes, please do not apply.
  • This Roleplay is considered High-Casual; a minimum of two paragraphs of non-dialogue. We’re firm believers in quality over quantity over this way though, so do with that what you will.
Use your noggin’ when posting. Don’t overwhelm the IC with back to back posts just to have a conversation between two characters or something else dumb. Allow two posts in between your last one and the next.
Last - but absolutely not least - you gotta read ALLLLLLL the lore.

  • Roman demigods attend Camp Jupiter; located in Berkeley Hills, California. Here they are required to serve a minimum 10 years in the Legion before retiring in New Rome, or venturing out to the mortal realm.
  • They are fluent in and can read Latin.
  • Oftentimes, they have ADHD and/or dyslexia - just like Greek Demis.
  • All Roman demigods and demigods who have served the Legion are trained in the style of Roman Legions’.
  • All Roman demigods and demigods who have served the Legion have a ‘tattoo’ on the inside of their right forearm. The ‘tattoo’ does not fade because it is burned on the skin by the camp Augur. The mark consists of the symbol of the demigod's parent, SPQR, and a barcode-like line representing each year they have served the Legion.
  • Roman demigods typically arrive at Camp Jupiter between ten and twelve years of age. It is very rare for a Roman demi god to arrive later on in life. These demigods nearly always find the wolf mother, Lupa, prior to arriving at Camp Jupiter. Lupa raises demigods she finds worthy at the Wolf House. After the demigods training is complete, Lupa gives them directions to Camp Jupiter. Upon their arrival, a Praetor will decide if the demigod can join the Legion. They will then be sorted into their Cohort based on family letters and any opinions of those willing to vouch for them at that time.
  • These demigods have weapons that are made out of Imperial Gold. They fight with Roman weapons, such as spathas and spears. Children of Underworld gods may use weapons made of Stygian Iron.
  • Roman demigods do not really see other gods as their family. While they may consider their half-siblings as their siblings, they normally do not classify other demigods as their cousins, or gods as their Aunts and Uncles. In some instances, they may consider some gods to be their grandparents. I ain’t typing all this for fun. First passcode: what’s your favorite song right now?
  • Camp Jupiter is a year-round Camp, meaning that Roman demigods live at Camp full time, year round. They can leave the camp on very special occasions, such as quests.
  • The standard camp t-shirt for Camp Jupiter is a dark shade of purple.
  • Camp Jupiter has an elephant that the campers take turns caring for. He is the son of the original camp elephant, Hannibal. The name of our current elephant is Hannibal the Second, but he prefers Hannibal.

▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅

  • Usually, these demigods attend Camp Half-Blood in New York. There are two ways a Greek Demigod can end up at New Rome/Camp Jupiter in our AU:
    • One, they can choose to train at Camp Jupiter instead of Camp Half-Blood and become part of the Legion from a young age, serve their ten years, etc. This is more likely to happen if they have a Roman legacy.
    • Two, they can retire to New Rome after their training at Camp Half-Blood, just like they would have if they had served the Legion.
  • Usually trained in the style of Greek Warfare.
  • They read and speak Ancient Greek.
  • Most Greek Demigods die in their teens, making it crucial that they get to either Camp as soon as possible. The stronger their godly parentage is, the more monsters they attract.
  • Greek Demigods have been known to fight with a plethora of weapons, the most common ones usually being swords or long bows. Their weapons are made out of Celestial Bronze, and children of Underworld gods can use Stygian Iron.
  • Greek demigods do not really see other gods as their family. While they may consider their half-siblings as their siblings, they normally do not classify other demigods as their cousins, or gods as their Aunts, Uncles, etc.
  • Camp Half-blood is more of a summer camp, allowing demi-gods to live in the outside world for fall/winter, and return the following summer if they arrive. This is one of the many reasons that Greek demigods have ‘less’ training.
  • While Greek Demigods are allowed in our AU, please understand that Greeks and Romans have been at odds for years. The Romans are very traditional people, and see it as their duty to protect the last traditions and memories of Rome. Therefore, Greek demigods that choose to attend Camp Jupiter may find it more difficult to rise through the ranks, and/or earn the respect of their peers. Just because the Greeks and Romans now live in peace does not mean that there still aren’t some prejudices from certain individuals.

  • Please, for the love of the gods, don’t change the formatting. I have things laid out the way that I want them, and would appreciate it if you stuck to it. You can add all the color, symbols, aesthetics, headers, etc that you want - just don’t move things around or add extra sections. Thank you.
  • The code might be broken, bro. I try, but I ain’t perfect. DM me the sheet on RPG if you need help.
  • Please only post completed sheets in the OOC for GM review.
  • You must list all of the ‘passwords’ at the END of your ‘Extra Info’ section for your sheet to be approved. There’s three in total throughout the OOC. Best of luck hunting.
  • If there are heavy/dark themes - I wanna see a trigger warning.
  • You must remove all instructions/explanations from the sheet for it to be approved.
  • Replace ??? with your color code of choice.
  • The GM team reserves the right to ask you to change anything about your Character Sheet that we see fit. These things may include: changing your faceclaim because they are too old/young, or changing the color code for your character because it is too harsh on the eyes.
  • Six Big Three children total will be allowed across the cast (Jupiter, Neptune, Pluto). Two per god, one per writer. No cap on Legacies as long as the OC is not overpowered and we are not getting overran with them.

  • Camp Jupiter is located in Oakland Hills, near San Francisco California. The main entrance to the Camp is the Caldecott Tunnel.
  • Camp Jupiter is more warlike, disciplined and militaristic than Camp-Half Blood, and so are their demigods.
  • Campers are composed of both Demigods and Legacies.
  • They do not see ‘fauns’ (Satyrs) as equals. In fact, they deem them as lesser creatures who do not have a role in their society. This is a huge contrast to their Greek counterparts, who consider the creatures an integral part of their camp.
  • The weak do not survive - plain and simple.
  • Instead of Cabins, Campers are sorted into five different cohorts here at Camp Jupiter. Cohorts are assigned upon arrival to Camp Jupiter, and are chosen for you by the camp Praetors. Cohort selection are based on:
    • Godly Parentage and Legacy. While the Cohorts are not divided by Godly Parentage, certain gods may earn you a better spot in a better cohort (ex. Mars).
    • Letters of recommendation from current Legionnaires, Veterans, or family members.
    • If there were any special circumstances upon a demigods arrival (like helping others make it safely to camp).
  • There are five different Cohorts, each one having their own reputation. The First Cohort is considered the best, while the Fifth Cohort is considered to be where the lowest of the low reside - Kind of the laughing stock of CJ if we’re being honest. Additionally, here is your second passcode: what tarot card do you think looks the coolest? Don’t say ‘idk anything about that’ - google it.
  • Any one, regardless of Godly Parentage, that lives in New Rome are considered part of the ‘army reserves’ and can be called upon anytime that Camp Jupiter goes to battle.

  • Camp Jupiter's societal structure consists of many roles:
    • The Senate: Composed of Camp Veterans, Praetors, Centurions, or the Augur. For the sake of our AU, Camp Veterans can be elected to the Senate, just like other camp officials. The Senate has a total of ten chairs/positions available. They discuss and make all final decisions on issues that arise within the camp - such as to grant a quest or not.
    • Praetors are the two elected officials of Camp Jupiter. There can only be two at a time - one male, and one female. They act as leaders of all of the Legion's affairs, including battle.
    • Centurions are the leaders of the Cohorts, similar to how Camp-Half Blood has Cabin Leaders. There are two for each cohort, totaling to ten Centurions across the camp. One male and one female Centurion for each Cohort. You have to have at least five years of service in the Legion, and also a completed quest to qualify for this position.
    • Legionnaires are your basic campers. They keep the camp running by tending to the camp in a series of rotating chores.
    • Probatio: None of our characters will be young enough for this role, but it’s gotta be included in the lore. Probatio’s are the grunts of Camp Jupiter. Everyone is a Probatio until they have completed their first year of service.
    • Medics: An important part of camp, Medics help heal Legionnaires both on and off the battlefield.
    • Messengers: Letter carriers for the current Praetors. Messengers are exempt from grunt work.
    • Augur: Basically the camp prophet. De Facto leader if both Praetors are ever away from camp. Responsible for giving camp ‘tattoos’.
    • For the positions of Praetor, Centurion, Legionnaire, Probatio, Medic, or Messenger, the OC must currently be ‘serving’ Camp Jupiter, meaning they are still fulfilling their ten year requirement, or they have chosen to sign up for additional years of service.

  • Field of Mars: Filled with trenches and hidden tunnels, this is where the demigods have their war games, occasional monster hunt, and war drills. After every war game, the Legionnaires build a new fort, that way there is a new challenge each time.
  • Temple Hill: Located near New Rome, this is a large hill where demigods can find temples and statues dedicated to the Roman gods. The most important Temples here are Pluto’s Shrine, Temple of Mars, Temple of Bellona, Temple of Mercury, and Temple of Jupiter Optimus Maximus. While these are the ‘most important’ temples, you can find a Temple/Shrine for every major Roman god and goddess on Temple Hill, thanks to the work of Jason Grace some forty odd years ago.
  • Principa: The meeting area for the Praetors to discuss important matters.
  • Via Principa: The living area for Praetors.
  • Mess Hall: Where you eat, duh. Seating arrangements are assigned by Cohort, while Officers and Senators have their own table. Guests are welcome to sit wherever they like. Food is served by ‘invisible’ servers (minor wind spirits).
  • Baths: you better be washin’ your butt, bro.
  • Baracks: Home to the weaponry, and Cohorts 1-4. The Fifth Cohort is located near the Mess Hall.
  • The Little Tiber: Named after the ‘Tiber’ of Rome, the Little Tiber is not as large as it’s ancestor, but flows with the same force. The river has its own magical force - similar to the rivers of the Underworld - and acts as a magical barrier for both Camp Jupiter. It flows into the lake on the south side of New Rome and is said to keep out all ‘threats’, such as “salesmen, monsters and Greeks.” The Little Tiber can - and will - wash away Greek blessings. We DO NOT swim in the Little Tiber or the lake.

Home to veterans of the Legion, and sometimes to other demigods, New Rome is a bustling city found East of Camp Jupiter. New Rome boasts a busy night life scene, plenty of store fronts, a university, and a small hospital. It is said that New Rome has the best designers and architects, just like Ancient Rome. Most buildings are made of white marble and have red roofs. Some of the marble buildings have domes and columned porticoes, like national monuments. Others look like palaces, with golden doors and large gardens. It is rumored that the gods sometimes come here to relax, or have children with former members of the Legion. New Rome is a ‘safe place’ - no weapons can be brought over New Rome's magical borde/barrier, known as the Pomerian Line. This rule and the border are enforced by Terminus, the statue god of boundaries. (There are multiple Terminus statues around the border of New Rome. They can and will speak to you. Please do not remind the Terminus’ that they do not have arms. Remind me who your favorite Greek or Roman god is for your last passcode.)

  • Circus Maximus: A smaller scale of the Circus Maximus in Ancient Rome, this is where Camp Jupiter hosts their horse races.
  • The Forum (basically the main hub of New Rome) is studded with statues and columns. The plaza is also decorated with statues, columns, and fountains.
  • Coliseum: Again, a smaller version of the one from Ancient Rome. This is where former members of the Legion have their battles. One of Camp Jupiter's punishments is cleaning the bull pins at the Coliseum. It is five stories tall, stands beside the Circus Maximus, and can be seen from Camp Jupiter.
  • New Rome University: Provides further education for former members of the legion, and even some Greek Demigods.
  • Ceres’s Garden: New Rome's farmers market, found in the Forum from 7am-3pm every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Members of New Rome can rent a booth to sell their wares. Currently owned by Avery Pierce (@Sugar and Spite).
  • More locations will be added as our writers create them.

Determined to start the morning by annoying her sister Gigi, Sabina pranced down the stairs of their home with more excitement than usual. After scanning various rooms and hiding spaces, it seemed as if Gigi had gotten an earlier start on her day or had found a new corner to hide in. Whichever the case, Sabina was mildly disappointed. Thankfully today was the Summer Solstice, and nearly nothing could dampen the young Kiskova's mood.

Making her way in to town, Sabina was sure to stop by Apollo's Cafe for coffee and a small breakfast before heading to the Coliseum. The former Praetor added her signature to the roster before stepping back out to the Forum while waiting for other contestants to arrive. Spending the next thirty minutes or so browsing various wares, Sabina didn't miss the opportunity to place a few bets while she was out and about. Small talk was made, smiles shared. Soon it was time for Sabina to return to the Coliseum to see who her first opponent would be.

Derex Steiner - or 'Rex' as his friends called him - was someone that Sabina knew well. Their time in Legion working alongside one another had set a strong foundation for their friendship. Before Sabina knew it, she looked at Rex sort of like a brother. If she were to lose to anyone today, she would be fine with it being Rex. No matter the outcome, she knew that it would be a respectable and honorable sparing match.

Their spar started playfully, smiles and small laughs exchanged from across the battle field. A spectacle of spear against Warhammer and the dance between old friends. While the fun managed to last, Sabina found herself striking with more intention and force sooner rather than later - and so did Rex. She wasn't quite sure where she went wrong, but that didn't change the fact that Sabina was now sprawled flat on her ass in the dirt. The young woman took her loss with dignity, and exited the battle field with her head still held high. Unlike some others here today, Sabina had no reason to feel ashamed for the way things had played out.

She took the time to get her injuries looked over. Lucius gently reminded her that there was no smoking in the medical bay; a request that was followed, but earned a small grunt of dissatisfaction from Sabina. Nonetheless, she waited until she was bandaged and out of the med-bay to enjoy her vice.

Briefly wandering the stands of the Coliseum, Sabina's eyes landed on Jeremy Grover a few rows higher up. She meandered in and out of the crowd as efficiently as possible before coming to a stop at her friends side. Taking a seat beside him, her gaze fell upon the next set of competitors just in time to watch Ashton forfeit to Gigi. Letting out a loud "BOOOOO", Sabina couldn't help but scoff at the events before her.

"Please tell me you have some good booze I could borrow," she half asked Grover.

Somewhere near the state lines of North Carolina and Tennessee - about twenty minutes off of highway forty - lies the small town of Pines Holler.

Pines Holler is the sort of small town that people see only on TV. Secluded, small, old, rotting, historic, and a little sad. Everything seems to be covered in a permanent layer of dirt and grime.

What started out as a mining town has been all but forgotten by their neighbors; the little fame they have left fading with the paint on the sign for the shut down cotton mill. Infrastructure is crumbling, jobs are sparce, and the cost of living keeps rising. Despite the hand they have been dealt in life, the locals of Pines Holler still cling to hope - the same hope that has kept the people in the hills going for generation after generation.

Most of them clung to that hope right up until last month. Parton's Lumber Company handed out the last paychecks, and then informed everyone that they were locking the doors for good. Those who were lucky enough to have a good paying local job are now unemployed unless they want to work at the bar or Dollar General. Parton's closing their doors is just one thing on the long list of things that are now truly threatening Pine's Harbor.

CEO's, land development corporations, realtors - they've all been closing in on Pines Holler for the last few years. Driving up the cost of living, taking jobs from the area and moving them elsewhere, and polluting the land of surrounding towns and counties. Now they're here, doing the same exact thing, in a place that no one hardly knows exists anymore.

Will the people of Pines Holler let themselves be ran from their family homes due to corporate greed?

Hello again, citizens of RPG.

What I have before you is a pretty straightforward SoL concept. Small, dying, Appalachian town based out of Western North Carolina. We'll be following our characters as they handle the good and bad of day to day life in their small community of Pines Holler. This will be a sandbox style RP that heavily relies on character interaction while I, your GM, throw random plot devices at you and said characters.

Now, let me make it clear that we aren't playing wealthy characters. This go around, I'm offering you a chance at your wildest white trash dreams.

Feel free to read on and join us.

  • PSA: Just because you apply does not mean that you/your character will be approved.
If you need an extension, communicate that no later than three days before the deadline. An extension of three days can be granted if enough heads up is given.
  • Communication is key. I don’t feel like I should really have to explain that one. We are (mostly) all adults, and I understand that things happen. I am always willing to work with anyone, so long as there is proper communication. Shitty communication lands you on my shit list. That being said, you MUST be able to join the Discord Server for our RP. I’ve tried to have writers who don’t want to be part of the server(s) before, and it just never works out.
  • Don’t apply if you aren’t going to put in effort, dude. Your character sheet doesn’t have to be immaculate - and you don’t have to talk to everyone on the Discord every day - but your RP experience will be heavily dependent on what you put into this collaboration through the IC and OOC. Don't cry to me that you don't know what to do with your character if you've done everything in your power to isolate them and establish no connections with the rest of the cast.
  • Keep the drama IN CHARACTER. Not in the OOC, not in the Discord, not anywhere else. Gods forbid an issue does arise with you and another player, please feel free to inform me. I will do my best to help with the situation if I think I can.
  • There's gonna be some heavy and/or potentially dark themes for this RP. We're gonna be playing adults, so things like alcohol, work polo's, paying bills, and being disgusted at the morning news may be prevalent. On top of that, there may be things like drug use, and getting your children taken away. Who knows? Just be willing to be down with some heavy every day real life issues, or go on ahead and kick rocks for me. <3

  • Be conscious of others when creating your characters. Take a quick glance at the claims sections and the character tab to make sure that your concept doesn't mirror someone else's too closely. Don't use color/hex codes that are too dark/bright/harsh on the eyes. (If you give me something with black or magenta, I will rage). Additionally, please put a TRIGGER WARNING on your sheet for anything that may need said trigger warning(s).
  • ALL CHARACTERS MUST BE 18+. It is heavily recommended that your character is between 25-45 years of age, just for interaction purposes. I do not care if your character is over 45. Just make sure they can interact with their peers.
  • There's two main places for our characters to reside in this RP. Those places would be Shady Hills Trailer Park, or the wanna be suburbs on Miners Street. AT LEAST ONE of your characters must reside in the trailer park or on Miners Street.
  • I will be allowing up to three characters per writer.
  • Keep in mind that we are trying to portray a very small, very *poor* community. Many of our characters may not have reliable transportation. They won't have access to every gadget. Etc.
  • I am looking for a total of five characters to be the 'bad guys'. The suits, if you will. Business types. Land developers. CEO's. Etc. I will be picky in choosing these characters - meaning that you may have to wait longer for this particular character to be approved, and that they also have a less chance at approval out the gate.
