Probably. Though Criston just sort of made up the party on the spot but it's very likely that Student Body Government underlings have already made and posted flyers about the party. It's just a party hosted by SBG, Student Body Government. It's a listed Club on the OOC Master Post.

It's 'random.' He'll be rooming with Nate, NK's newest character so I'll put that on the OOC post when I get up tomorrow. (People get paired up as they're accepted.)

I finally got control of the communal computer and find out there may be a more combat focus aspect to the RP. I'm going to have to figure out a way to make Harrison a bit more durable I think... give me some time to figure something logical, well as logical as anyone going to this academy would be anyway :P

Okay, so I actually re-read the first post, and HylianRose did, indeed, say that people need to be elected. My bad for not seeing it earlier.
HylianRose will probably make room for you in the SBG, so I'm sure she'll make up a plan to give your character a chance to join it. If she doesn't have any plans, however, then that'll be a problem I'll thoroughly think through.
Is the party ongoing or will it occur in the future, by the way?

As far as I know the party hasn't started yet but there are three people already located where the party is going to be.

It hasn't started yet; people are just going to its location at a fairly early time. Because who gives a crap about schedules, amiritehuehuelol
On another note, for the time being, you can have your character do anything right at the moment. Okay, not anything anything (because seeing the Yatagarasu this early would be terrifying lol), but you get the drift, right? (Cafeteria, garden, and student center have the highest possibilities of character interaction right atm, btw) :D
