Sword Art Online [Interest Check]

Hey everyone!

I've found my way back here after a long vacation. Now, I'm really eager for a Sword Art Online roleplay. I have loads of ideas for quests on the various floors. I'm thinking daily life, with some combat involved (boss battles, etc.).

I honestly have no idea if this will be 1x1, or a group. I'm just testing the waters here.

Nope! Our group will have the freedom to do other things (they certainly don't have to be a large group the entire time - that would be exhausting). But I'll have big events available for when we feel up to it. For example, we all write a boss battle to clear a floor. And then we break off into smaller groups to recover/explore/whathaveyou.

I have had one too many (or like 34324545 too many) romance-centric SAO roleplays. If it happens, it happens. And that would be cool, because I've only seen real RP chemistry like twice. But nah, it isn't a main focus!

It was worth bating my breath. Romance RP scares me if people right off the bat dictate who-and-who should hook up as endgame, since my character(s) may grow on their own, like bathroom moss; it's hopeless to control.

I'm not sure if "write a boss battle" as a group will be smooth, but that's just me and my lack of faith of people thinking in sync.

I would be interested in this type of RP, however I want to see what you are planning and have done before actually saying I am interested. What are your plans? Are we going to each be part of the original 10K or will we just be playing the game? Are Kirito, Asuna, and the rest going to be around? Or will we be replacing them with our own characters? These (and other) questions are ones that NEED to be answered before I can show any real interest.

As I've mentioned, I am simply curious whether or not there are SAO fans on the site. Most of the roleplays I searched were far outdated, so I wasn't sure what the community looked like. I haven't provided any plans because there is nothing more disappointing than compiling a detailed pitch, only to have no one take interest.

My plans hinge entirely on how many people are interested, and what sort of writing they enjoy. I'm looking for a collaboration, not a rigid GM-run exercise. The plan is to follow the story of the original players, but I don't see a need for canon characters.

Please don't mistake my approach as a lack of effort - I had written on an SAO specific site for a few years before recently leaving. I have enough material to make this an exciting experience. But it is important to me that whoever is willing to do this with me realizes they will be helping me make the calls. This isn't something I'm simply going to run them through. I apologize if that isn't what you're used to.

I know exactly what you mean. It makes things feel forced and clunky, and it is rarely ever pleasant. At least, from my experience.

Again, that really depends on how many people we end up getting. If it is dozens, of course not, that would be a nightmare! But if we can get a solid group of four or five writers, and we get a good rotation going, I think it would be totally doable. :)

There is an idea for a guild that I had in mind and the first floor that I thought up is there. I suggest you base your floors off other things, like the first floor on mine was going to be Olympus.

That looks really neat! But in truth, it is a bit more elaborate than I had anticipated. I'm looking for something a bit smaller scale, where a handful of people move the story together. Not quite so structured, though I appreciate your offer to borrow any ideas! I may take you up on that. As for floors, I'm set with locations, key descriptions, and missions for 1-20. A lot of them are canon, but a few I threw together myself.

I loved the SAO and SAO 2 shows, so this sounds interesting. :)

I may be able to offer a bit of assistance, also, depending on IRL stuff and my recollection/research of things SAO. I haven't really dug too deep in the world, but I can always re-watch it on Netflix to prep if needed.
