On another note, when using Lapis with passive abilities, does it slowly drain stamina from you little by little? Can some be activated/deactivated at will? Does the activation also cost stamina? Can you master/manipulate passive Lapis? Do you need to hold them in hand to actually gain from their buffs or just hold it in person, like in a satchel that you carry? Similar wise about other Lapis, like the lightning bolt one, do you need to hold it in your hand or having it in your pocket will suffice for casting it? If you master a lightning Lapi, is it easier to master another one of the same element or is it the same as mastering a fire one difficulty wise? Since manipulate costs extra stamina, if you have mastered Lapi A and Lapi B, both lightning, recreating Lapi's B effect by manipulating Lapi A costs more stamina than just straight-out recreating Lapi B I assume, just to clarify.

1. That wouldn't have any effect over just carrying them on your person.

2. If Lapi A is more powerful than Lapi B, Lapi A will cost more Stamina. If you master Lapi B, you can make it as powerful as Lapi A, but it will probably cost slightly more than Lapi A.

3. Passive Lapi... well originally I was thinking of just having them give benefits no strings attached, but that seems unfair in retrospect. I'm thinking it caps your stamina. Say on a good day you can do light labour for 8 hours. With a passive Lapi, you can only go 6.5 hours.

4. Some can be activated/deactivated at will, but that will cost a small bit of stamina.

5. Lapi just have to be on your person, since energy conducts through all materials. You can have them in a sword, on your armor, in a satchel, etc. Same thing with Active Lapi.

6. I'd say mastering Lapi of the same element is slightly easier, though not by much.

7. Yes, recreating Lapi A with Lapi B will cost slightly more stamina, as stated above.

I don't doubt there would be, after all, there will always people who don't like things, after all. Maybe a secret sect that can use magic naturally or something? If it's for your character's backstory, I'd be willing to hear any ideas you had if you wanted a group like that to exist.

As for Lapi negation... that's a lot harder to say. I want to say there has to be, but it's extremely rare. An herb that puts your soul in a dormant state or some such, maybe? I'll go ahead and say there is an extremely rare herb that can "put your soul to sleep" and make you unable to use Lapi for a certain amount of time. As for non-Lapi users combatting Lapi users, well, there are always ET's, and if you get close enough, some spells get very dangerous to cast, and some need a decent time to cast. It's not unheard of for some to focus entirely on other aspects of training, becoming almost superhuman in their ability.

• Iron War Hammer - A solid, weighty weapon beyond the use of mortal men and their adolescent strength. Six feet in length, with a head that is one foot long and one foot wide, it is a simple yet terrifying tool of death and anguish in the hands of someone who can handle it with finesse. Izerk is such an individual, thanks to his massive strength. Black and rusted, with no marking or fancy sigil to add character to its menacing form, Izerk's war hammer is the cold and unfeeling harbringer of crushed skulls and shattered rib cages. Even the most heavily armoured adversaries fear this mighty warrior's swing, and most would be wise to rely on speed over constitution when daring to face Izerk on even his worst day.
• Iron Breast Plate - Izerk and his peoples are simple. Crude iron is all they can hope for in their forest dwellings, and even then it is a rare commodity. Izerk however is blessed, in that his armour is made from the solid yet coarse metal. Four inches thick at its narrowest point, Izerk's breast plate is impenetrable to all but the most powerful attacks (lest they are backed by Lapi). However, even a Gora is tied to the laws of physics, and despite his impressive strength Izerk is still weighted down by this monstrosity masquerading as armour. Whilst wearing it, he cannot hope to swim, and he tires quickly if forced to continuously turn on his heels against a faster opponent. For this reason, Izerk is able to quickly discard the breast plate via four reachable clasps that bind the two halves together. Like his War Hammer, it is black and rusted, and bears no markings or decoration.
• Reinforced Iron Pauldrons - Dodged his swing? Sliced at his leg? He looks tired, huh? And angry! But it's okay, just keep dancing around, you've almost got hi- OH MY GOD YOU'RE FLYING! Izerk wears two shoulder pauldrons, again made from solid iron, and simple in appearance. However, they are very thick, sitting comfortably at around eight inches. They weigh down his shoulders, and reduce the movement of his arms. Don't be fooled however. These are not items of protection, oh no, they're actually battering rams. If an opportunity presents itself, Izerk will lower his head and charge his opponent with his shoulder raised; often this is done as part of a feint when in combat, and has caught many opponents off guard with the irregularity of its employment. Furthermore, the shoulder pads offer a great means of knocking down doors and other lesser obstacles. As with the breast plate, they can be quickly removed via two straps under Izerk's armpits.
• Light Leather Curiass - Underneath his layer of impenetrable iron, Izerk wears a suit of light leather that cuts off at his voluminous shoulders and his bulky shins. It provides little protection, but is sometimes enough to deter a swipe or a swing to his exposed body. He prefers leather to chainmail, mostly because it increases his mobility when taking into account the iron breast plate and pauldrons.

• Natural Climber - The Gora are natural climbers in their native habitats of ancient trees and rocky outcrops. Whether it is a house, a ship or a rampart, then Izerk is your Gorilla when it comes to scrambling up stuff. However, depending on the height, difficulty of the climb and other such factors, Izerk may need to remove his precious armour first.
• Wild Empathy - Gora can use body language, vocalization and demeanor to crudely converse with animals. Whilst not able to directly control beasts and their ilk, the Gora can influence them to do their bidding.

Personality: Izerk is slow to anger, incredibly so; however, once he's there, then all of those around him would be best to vacate the vicinity. When not experiencing his rare and primal blood-lust, Izerk is a calm, compassionate and collected being. He uses reason first, and spurns the irrational. However, when the cause is just, and the good outweighs the bad, then Izerk will engage with any situation unto death if needs be - blood-lust or no.

Biography:

"Go forth, my son, unto the world of Elves, Demons and Men, and calm the fire that rages in their hearts."

These were the last words that King Izern Whitemane spoke to his most beloved son, Crown Prince Izerk of Goria. They were sad words, yet hopeful and full of endless possibilities - both good and ill. The year is 2235, and the flames of a foreign war have spilled into the ancient heartland of the Gorian peoples. Their great bastion, Glimmerdale Forest, is under direct threat from Lucumbroian incursions.

Every week there is another travesty. A Gorian village ignited by a local and zealous Royalist commander; a wandering tribe of Gora slain by servants of the Demon-Whore for simply being in the wrong place, and at the wrong time.

Some tribal elders call for war. Others call for abandonment and retreat. King Whitemane battles daily to keep his nobles in check, to prevent what is left of his already dying race from being dragged into a conflict that would surely end them. To the aged Ape-King, leaving Glimmerdale is not a palatable option; his people have dwelt there for ten thousand years. However, lacking the man power or the steadfast conviction required to wage an effective war on the races of Man and Elf, he has resigned to send forth his Kingdom's greatest champion.

Crown Prince Izerk the Mighty.

Izerk is intelligent and wise, even for his peoples, and favours his father's love over all things. Though reluctant to abandon his people in their hour of need, he has taken up his father's mission with the resolve of a man condemned to the gallows. He faces an impossible task; end a foreign war in a foreign land waged by a foreign peoples whose ideals and customs are foreign to his own. There are too many variables, too many risks, too much at stake.

Yet here he is, in Lucumbro, drawing stares from commoners and scrutiny from guards. He searches for companions who seek the same ends, who seek to end the war that is threatening not just Lucumbro, but her neighbours. It is an alien land, but he knows that no race - immortal or otherwise - relishes the prospect of a world rife with war, anguish and death.

He plans to find them, and their knowledge of the land will point him - and his War Hammer - to those responsible for this ceaseless madness. This he must do, if Glimmerdale is to stand for another ten thousand years. This he must do, for his father's love, and for the very survival of the Gora.

What I have in mind at the moment is a Lapi that temporarily nullifies pain in the user.

I'd assume Sardiel and Gennisi would be two of those; having said that, @Kafka Komedy, do you want me to copy over Sardiel's character sheet from Tenebria's Scales, or are you likely to come up with an up-to-date sheet for him yourself?

Equipment

Plain sword – Weighs around 10 lbs, easily swung around. It was meant to be held in one hand, but Rane often switches between stances, holding it in his left, his right, and sometimes both. It was fashioned by a local blacksmith. It’s sturdy and doesn’t break easily, but also isn’t sharp enough to pierce through any more than reinforced leather. Rane adjusts his fighting style to accommodate for this, and often bludgeons armoured opponents with the pommel.
Heavy plate armour – Courtesy of Lord Janys for several months of dedicated service. Contrary to the quality his sword and other belongings, his armor was made by royal smiths out of finer metals. It originally had golden trimming, but Rane thought it looked ridiculous and had it removed. His lord insisted that he kept the wings on the helmet, and he grudgingly obliged. Its material cannot be pierced by all but the sharpest of blades, and its structure was made to withstand a good amount of force. It has taken quite a beating over the years.
Wineskin - It's a calfskin sack for some wine. Rane drinks a lot, but usually not before fighting.
Grappling Chain - Perhaps one of Rane's nastier possessions. It was originally a makeshift weapon fashioned from an old rope and half a bear trap. Since then, there have been many iterations of the weapon, the latest being a ten foot steel chain with a venom-drenched hook on one end. Rane can grapple small to medium-sized foes with his chain and pull them in. The hook was also made to find chinks between armour, and its barbs make it much harder to remove, especially in the heat of combat. The venom he uses isn't lethal, but it's strong enough to cripple a limb for a few hours, given some time.

Abilities

Red Lapi ring - When activated, it deadens his nerve endings, so he can’t feel pain. He frequently misuses his Lapi, leaving him exhausted and wounded. Because of this, he often finds himself with injuries that caution could have prevented.

Talents

Swordsmanship – Rane fights ambidextrously and often switches hands in the middle of fights. Having learned most of it on the streets, he isn’t afraid to fight without honour. He’s not a blademaster, but he can definitely hold his own in a fight.

Personality: Quiet, stoic, and utterly boring. He rarely talks, and when he does, it’s often no more than a few words. Although he is a mercenary, he’s fiercely loyal to his employers, at least until their contract ends. He obeys order without question, and has a distinct lack of empathy. However, he’s not a good leader, and typically cannot manage more than ten men at a time. He does have a fairly dry sense of humour, and his sarcastic remarks have landed him in trouble on numerous occasions.

Biography: Rane was a sickly child. His parents were noblemen of a small House, and spent the majority of his youth squandering their money on doctors to try and heal him. Their family fortune dwindled to nothing, and his father grew angrier and angrier. One night, convinced that Rane was the fulfilment of a curse that had been laid upon him years ago, he murdered his wife and threw Rane into the night.

Rane’s adolescence was spent on the streets, stealing food and beating other street rats for coin. A strangely generous thief named Wake took pity on him and took him under his wing, and showed him how to survive, nursing him back to health. His ferocity quickly earned him a following. Though he was the de facto leader of their gang, it was Wake who often gave commands and organized attacks. His gang, the Black Boars, quickly became notorious in his city, though he never had much passion for his life of crime. His anger towards his father was his only driving force. As he grew older and stronger, his anger dwindled, and he felt oddly indifferent towards the injustices he had suffered at the hands of his father. He eventually left his gang, leaving Wake in charge, and became a mercenary.

In an ironic turn of events, his first employer, a wealthy foreign merchant, ordered him to clear out the slums where he had grown up. He led a skeleton crew of six untrained recruits, slaughtering his old gang members. Eventually, he cornered Wake, begging for his life, trying to remind Rane of everything they had been through. Without a hint of hesitation or remorse, Rane rammed his sword through Wake’s throat.

Since that day, Rane has been roaming across the country, looking for work wherever he could find it. He had fought under countless masters and dozens of different banners. He acquired his ring from a nobleman who believed he would abandon the life of a mercenary to fight for him. Naturally, he left when their contract ended. He had also been knighted by another lord he had served, but he never felt any prestige in the title. He never followed any code of honour save his own, and the will of some pea-brained lord wasn't going to change that.

Life had taught Rane a cruel lesson. Some men found purpose in faith, some in riches, and some in love. Despite fighting for gold, Rane dismissed all of these ideas; the only power he ever acknowledged was power itself.

Other: Rane keeps a locket with his old House’s sigil. He has never shown it to anyone, and becomes uncharacteristically angry when someone tries to see what is inside.
