C R E S T W O O D H O L L O W || Est. 1684

Situated along the Eastern Coast of the United States between Hampton and Portsmouth, Crestwood Hollow is a small New Hampshire city originally founded in the 1684, shortly before the infamous Witch Trials. Settled in the fertile Orlaith Valley, the city is home to a large rural area, boasting a very fruitful agricultural industry. The largest export of the city is the Golden Delicious Apple. Beyond the valley lies densely populated forests of oak, maple and cherry trees. This contributes to several lumber mills in the area that provide a secondary industry to the city.

To the North of the Orlaith Valley is the Great Bay Lake. From there, the River Shannon flows South from the lake then East through the center of the valley and right down the middle of the city. The downtown of Crestwood Hollow is split by the river with one street travelling East on the North side of the river, while on the South side the street only travels West. Located every few blocks is a draw bridge which both connects the city and separates it when the need arises for a ship travels upstream. Towering buildings look down on the river ranging from hotels to banks, to white collar firms and apartment complexes. The Northern side of the city is known for being rougher than its Southern Sister. The 'Beau' half of Crestwood Hollow is home to the Mather Park, in the middle of which is an ancient white oak known only as the Hanging Tree. The Southern half of the city, the 'Belle', is newer than the Beau and is home to several more residential areas than the North. The further South one travels in Crestwood Hollow, the more construction they seem to encounter as the city is constantly expanded to accommodate new subdivisions.

Towards the Eastern edge of the city, the Shannon empties into the Atlantic Ocean, flowing through the Crestwood Port before it is swept away by the tides of the Atlantic. Due to its location within the Orlaith, Crestwood Hollow has very few visits via train and does most of its imports through truck and ship. As such, the Port is often a thriving hub of life with new ships visiting each day. Several fisheries dot the piers but have fallen upon hard times in latter years due to over-fishing in the Atlantic. Numerous recreational boats fill the docks and full warehouses litter the boardwalks.

M A T H E R M E M O R I A L H I G H S C H O O L || Est. 1947

The Mather Memorial High School is Crestwood Hollow's largest secondary school. Built in the late forties, the school has stood in the same spot for almost seventy years. As such the building does show it's age, especially in its tall architecture with a looming main entrance that casts a shadow on the stairs before it. The inside of the school is often stuffy, the air carrying a heavy musty odor that perforates every hallway. The original gymnasium has been transformed into an auditorium while an addition in the nineties added a proper gymnasium onto the school's west side. Outside this expansion are several basketball courts leading to track surrounding a multi-use field. This field is used for a variety of sports and when an event is held temporary bleachers can be erected on either side of the field.

The athletics facility is not the only recent addition to the school. Several portable units line the back of the school, added during the late nineties in order to increase teachable areas however most of these are used as storage currently. A technology wing was added to the east side of the school in the early 2000's. This wing includes state of the art computer labs along with wood working, welding facilities and even an auto shop. These facilities line the bottom of the wing, however the upper floor of the wing adds several new science classrooms and lecture rooms rendering the aforementioned portables null and void. At the rear of the main building is the cafeteria which looks down onto the park which shares the school's namesake. In order to encourage students to get outside on their lunch breaks, a balcony including an outside seating area was added to the cafeteria in 2013.

Like most secondary schools across North America, Mather Memorial offers a wide variety of teachables to its students outside of the mandatory core subjects. Additionally education is supplied in three levels of learning in order to ensure no student is left behind. This includes an essentials level for students who intend to go directly into the workplace after high school, an applied level for students who wish to attend community college and an academic level for students aiming to attend university. Some courses have no specified level and are open to all students but others require the student have certain prerequisites before they can enroll. Courses such as these often lead to graduates return to Mather Memorial for a fifth year, or as it commonly referred to as, a 'Victory Lap'.

▼ H I S T O R Y:

C A T A L Y S T || 1967-1984

On October 18, 1967, Earth was hit with an immense Coronal Mass Ejection. During a total Lunar Eclipse, the sun emitted a massive interplanetary CME which doused the entire globe with high energy particles causing the largest and brightest occurrence of the aurorae ever recorded. Unfortunately this also brought a geomagnetic storm which ravaged Earth’s electrical transmission lines, causing power outages on a global scale. It was on this day that the Earth nearly stood still, sitting in total darkness for nearly ten minutes before back up systems began to re-activate. Numerous regions around the globe were left in the dark well beyond that. Cities were powerless for nearly a week while some rural areas were forced to survive for nearly a month without power. This event left a death toll numbering in the tens of thousands becoming known as the Dark Eclipse.

However the aftermath of the Dark Eclipse reached far further than anyone could have ever anticipated. The resulting effect of the high energy particles is a mutation appearing in one of every hundred thousand people. While public knowledge of the mutation remains vague, selected sects in the scientific community are aware of it and have dubbed the emergence of the mutation ‘Viriumosis’. In more common jargon, the possession of a mutation is referred to as the ‘Hype-Factor’ or ‘Hype-Gene’. Collectively, these mutants are referred to as ‘Hyperhumans’.

E M E R G E N C E || 1985-1999

As the Cold War came to a close, humanity’s attention was turned to a new threat. One that was already in their homes, teaching their children and running their governments. As word of Hyperhumans became public knowledge a perpetual state of fear and paranoia took hold of the world. Neighbor was turned against neighbor and mother against child as humanity’s pattern of fearing that which they didn’t understand continued.

Propaganda against Hyperhumans was widespread especially in North America. Laws were passed that prohibited Hyperhumans from positions of authority on suspicion of using their abilities to gain an advantage. Athletes and other competition driven professions were heavily screened. Although there were those who chose to use Hyperhumans to their own advantage and more than one man or woman desperate to make a living allowed themselves to be drawn into the shadier side of things.

Activism and social conscious was pushed to an all time high during this period as people fought to be treated as equals no matter their colour, sexuality and abilities. Technology took leaps and bounds during this period as Hyperhumans with more subtle abilities were able to integrate into society and excel through their education and in their careers.

V I G I L A N C E || 2000-Present

Due to the emergence of Hyperhumans during the late 80’s, technology advanced at a rapid rate. The majority of Earth’s power is based upon nuclear fusion with coal based energy completely phased out greatly reducing the amount of pollution present in Earth’s atmosphere. Roughly sixty-five percent of power is supplied by nuclear fusion while other clean energy make up the remaining thirty-five percent. Solar power makes up the majority of the secondary energy sources clocking in at twenty-five percent while wind makes up only five percent. The last five percent of energy sources is mixed between nuclear fission, hydroelectric and geothermal power.

Other advances in technology are rather notable among society. As of 2010, three dimensional screens or holographic displays have become commonplace among consumer homes while the self-driving car has been made available to the public market as of 2015. Despite the original fear of Hyperhumans, advances in both law and peace keeping technology has thus far kept any major superpowered crime at bay. Robotic K9 units along with autonomous patrol cars and synthetic officers have become the standard especially among large cities.

▼ B A C K G R O U N D:

H Y P E R H U M A N || Homo-Virium

Hyperhumans are humans who have undergone Viriumosis thus leading to the creation of a ‘Hype-Gene’ and development of extranormal abilities. Viriumosis occurs when the high energy particles create an insertion and add one or more extra nucleotides into the host DNA. As insertions in the coding region of a gene may alter splicing of the mRNA, or cause a shift in the reading frame, this almost always leads to a significant alteration in the gene product. These alterations lead to a wide variety of effects which are often looked upon as super-human abilities.

While Viriumosis was only able to occur in the individuals who were alive during the Dark Eclipse, the Hype-Gene is able to be passed along through reproduction. This is a cumulative result of high energy particles stored within the donating parent's chromosomes. A portion of these particles are replicated and passed along to through genetic material resulting in the offspring going through Viriumosis in utero. Naturally this leads to the creation of the 'Hype-Gene' in the offspring allowing them to display abilities akin to those of their parent(s).

That said, a human born without a 'Hype-Gene' will not display Hyperhuman abilities unless subjected to Viriumosis. However due to the constraints of technology, there is no way to artificially replicate the process which created the ‘Hype-Gene’.

The 'Hype-Gene' isn't exclusively carried within either sex but is a dominant gene within both ensuring that the child of a Hyperhuman will indeed be one themselves. Due to a lack of willing subjects, there are no studies as to whether powers levels are greater or equal within children who have two Hyperhuman parents compared to those who only have one. Hyperhuman abilities are incredibly diverse and more often than not allow the host to accomplish superhuman abilities. When a Hyperhuman is born, they have an unlimited potential as to what abilities they will develop. Hyperhuman abilities are not predetermined by parents but instead are developed during puberty in the majority of hosts. However those who go through trauma at a younger age may prematurely develop their abilities. Environment and circumstance surrounding the time of ability development will contribute to determining the host’s abilities. Due to the nature of Viriumosis, Hyperhuman abilities are closely linked to Earth’s Electromagnetic Spheres and could be considered to be powered through it.

The more of these 'Hyperhumans' that are in close proximity, the weaker they become as they fight to draw from the same EM spheres. Many of these 'Hyperhumans' live their lives without knowing about their abilities, a few odd occurrences happening in times of heightened adrenaline. But there are the few who learn to embrace their nature and use their abilities to accomplish extraordinary feats.

▼ 1 . 0 . 0 . A P P L I C A T I O N P R O C E S S || Guidelines for Character Submission

[1.1.0.] - As the GM, I reserve the right to deny, veto or otherwise reject any character application based on any number of factors that I find make the character unfit for this roleplay. This can include player history, perceived literacy, lack of understanding of the game's concept, unruly behavior in the iCheck/OOC or towards the GM, other players or simply a generally poor attitude. Other reasons for application denial will be listed in the following rules.

[1.2.0.] - All Character Sheets must be submitted to the GMs using the provided skeleton. Character Sheets which do not use the provided skeleton will be rejected and asked to comply with the set standard. This code can be found provided below the rules. Please remember to change the capitalized 'HR' to 'hr' in order for the horizontal lines to work correctly.

[1.2.1.] - Incomplete or in progress sheets should not be posted in the OOC nor should they be posted in the character tab. Completed sheets ready for review are the only character sheets which should be posted in the OOC. If you need a place to store a work in progress sheet, you can create a PM with yourself or a Character Archive thread.

[1.2.2.] - Completed sheets are to be posted in the Out of Character Thread for review until approved. Once approved you may move your sheet into the Character Thread for storage. Once the sheet is put into the Character Thread it becomes a contract to between yourself and the GM, meaning this is the character you have signed on to play and you will not alter or change anything about the character without first gaining the GM's permission to amend the sheet.

[1.3.0.] - Character Sheet reviews will be provided to you via PM and each review will contain a verdict on the character's acceptance along with a list of reasoning why the character was accepted, conditionally accepted or out right denied. You will be allotted one appeal per review, up to a grand total of three reviews. If the sheet is not in the GM's liking after the thread review, it will be denied and you will not be allowed to apply again. These three reviews count towards different characters as well should you change characters after your first one was denied.

[1.3.1.] - Reviews will be sent to the player within 24 hours of a posted completed sheet. Please try to understand that in the event of numerous character sheets being submitted in the same day or due to obligations outside of Crestwood Hollow there may be the occasional delay in this process.

[1.3.1.] - In the event of a reasonable delay, any displays of impatience towards the GMs will result in an immediate dismissal of the application and thus a denial towards the player participating in the RP. As the players, the GMs have lives and obligations outside of the roleplay and may not always be able to respond in a rapid manner. Please have patience and a postivie attitude adn you will receive a response in a timely manner.

[1.4.0.] - You can create any superhuman mold you want with tact. All invincible superhumans or obvious imitations of DC or Marvel titles will be judged harshly. If you must make a 'monstrous' character/power, I advise you to make your character dual sided so they may blend with the regular people. Your abilities should also be a secret to anyone outside of the character’s circle of trust, remember people are afraid of what they don't understand and superpowers are a new concept to the world. People will not be willing to accept them very quickly.

[1.4.1.] - In line with above rule, do not make your character well rounded, give them weaknesses and flaws. Limitations in their skills and abilities, reasons to make them need a team to support them. Additionally, give your character room to grow and develop. It's always fun to have a new power show up down the line, just give the GM a heads up first so it doesn't look like you're godmodding.

[1.5.0.] - Forbidden abilities include the following: Blood Manipulation, Darkness Manipulation, and Time/Reality Manipulation. Character abilities should feel at home in a realistic or even cinematic world akin to the Avengers/X-Men etc. That said as mentioned above be careful with physically disfiguring abilities. Lastly while flight is a perfectly acceptable power, it will not be permitted through the use of telekinesis under the principle of 'You can't lift yourself by your own bootstraps.'

[1.6.0.] - Failure to adhere to any of the character creation rules will lead to rejection of the application with a citation of the broken rule(s). Permission to re-apply will be given on a case by case basis depending on the rule(s) broken and the quality of the application. Critique will be given on Character Sheets which don't break any rules but aren't quite up to an acceptable standard. Please be willing to work with the GM in the event of this.

▼ 2 . 0 . 0 . O U T O F C H A R A C T E R C O N D U C T || Guidelines for posting in the OOC Thread

[2.1.0.] - Respect the Game Masters. The GM's words are to be adhered, don't argue or disregard them unnecessarily. If a GM asks you to stop doing something please do it. Likewise if a GM asks you to change something in your post please do it. Failure to adhere to any GM or Moderator requests will result in expulsion from the game.

[2.2.0.] - Respect the other players. Constructive criticism is fine, but flaming or trying to run players off just because you don't like the way they do things is not okay. Remember, it's the GM's job, not yours, to point out if there's a problem. If you feel that there is a problem, then contact a GM directly.

[2.3.0.] - Likewise any quarrels will be dealt with by the GMs. Don't take them out in the OOC, arguments should be dealt with between the two parties through private messaging. If the involved parties truly can't solve their issues a GM can act as an arbiter upon request.

[2.4.0.] - No GIF Wars. This is a thread for discussion of the roleplay, its characters and plots. This is not a Spam Thread. Chat is allowed and encouraged but within reason, please try not to fill the OOC with numerous pages that have little to nothing to do with the roleplay itself. An active OOC generally means an active roleplay so feel free to chat up your fellow players about characters and events in the RP.


▼ 3 . 0 . 0 . I N C H A R A C T E R C O N D U C T || Guidelines for posting in the IC Thread

[3.1.0.] - Absolutely no 'OOC' chatter in the In Character Thread. If you have a question or anything to explain there is an Out Of Character Thread provided. You have no excuse to make an 'OOC' comment in the IC and if done it will be heavily frowned upon.

[3.2.0.] - You are your character, so act like them. Create or portray their mannerisms, powers, and ideals to how they have been established in the game. BE the character, not just yourself with the character's powers. The notes section of your CS has been provided for such a reason, use it to help yourself remain consistent in character portrayals.

[3.3.0.] - Writing expectations for this roleplay are at least two (2) well developed paragraphs as a minimum per post. Three (3) to five (5) paragraph posts however would be awesome so long as you're not simply chewing the scenery. Proper spelling and grammar is also expected but small mistakes here and there are understandable. Blatant offenses will be called out.

[3.3.0.] - You are required to post at least once within ten (10) days after the GM Plot Post advances the RP. Extensions will only be given in extenuating circumstances. Please recognize your limitations before joining the RP, if you are unable to post once every ten days, then it's highly likely that you do not have enough time to keep up with the RP.

[3.3.1.] - In the event that you do miss the ten day deadline, your character will be listed as 'inactive'. After a further week of inactivity, your character will be expelled, and dealt with as necessary in the IC, whether killed or used as needed and then discarded. This whole process is simply easier if you just let the GM know if you're unable to keep up or simply have lost interest in the RP.

[3.3.2.] - If you find yourself in a plot with another player and they disappear, do your best to move on without them and quickly finish the arc to the best of your ability, or ask for the help of a GM.

[3.4.0.] - No God-Modding or metagaming. This refers to controlling or manipulating another player's character in way that is completely self-beneficial and not pre-approved by the other player. This also includes being untouchable against NPC characters as well as being all knowing. Keep your character humanized or risk being expelled from the RP.

[3.5.0.] - This is a Character Driven RP, and as such you are encouraged and expected to take charge of your character's sub-plots and storylines. This is a favourite rule of mine, and that said, there will be a heavy emphasis on collaborative activities and team building as well. The GMs will be leading the RP in the traditional sense with a driving plot and will ensure the RP keeps moving however we do want to see you develop your characters and produce your own plots. However we don't want to see you lock your character out of interaction and focus solely on your character and their 'world'. No one enjoys watching you play with yourself, it's always better to let someone else join in on the fun.

[3.5.1.] - Player Character's are not to be killed without permission nor that player's supporting cast members. It is fine to kill nameless NPC's, but PC's or important NPC's will require authorization by their creator except in the event of a GM event.

[3.6.0.] - Plots should not be completed in one or two posts. Your character should not be able to stop an entire robbery by themselves or put out a city block on fire with relative ease. That said obviously different power levels do apply so if you do manage to put out the fire, solve the cause of it. If you stop the robbery find out who hired the gang or what their motives were. If all else fails do some character development or show us some ‘Slice of Life’ moments for you character if you do solve a plot quickly.

S E X U A L C O N D U C T || A note from the GM

This is an RP with open world elements and I realize that relationships are a part of this. While I have no problem with this I do want it kept a specific way to avoid breaking any rules. As part of RPG's rule, mature content is forbidden on the forums. You may however use the standard fade-to-black technique if you desire and that will be fine, just keep it PG-13/14A (May contain: violence, coarse language and/or sexually suggestive scenes.) both leading and following up. I implore you to keep within the age restrictions set up already by administration. As such, let’s keep it simple, ages 16-18 can have relationships with each other and likewise for 13-15. Please just use your common sense if you're going to seek a relationship within the RP. You have been warned of my expectations on this matter and should you fail to follow through you will be asked to leave the roleplay and reported for breaking site rules.

C O M M I T M E N T & C O N S I S T E N C Y || A note from the GM

If you join this RP, if you take the time to submit an application, I'm putting my faith in you that you'll be committed to it and that the character you play will be consistent with the one in the agreed upon CS. Personally, I have a hard time with this sometimes and I understand that things just happen. That said I’m referring to suddenly giving a character new powers with no explanation or completely changing their backstory in order to add new skills. I’m okay with changes but I’d like a heads-up first so perhaps we can work a more natural way towards these things happening. In terms of commitment, dropping out of the RP randomly for whatever reason is a pain or a GM. Simply put, it wastes my time along with the other players. If you do not think you can join and you're sure something will come up, do not join. Tendency to not care about an RP after a while? Don't join. Simple as that. I will work with you when it comes to bumps in the road. If you think you're going to be out for a couple of days, that's fine. I'll find a way to excuse you from the story or play your character. However, please let the group known as far in advance as possible. If you're going on a trip, tell me something. Do not leave me wondering where you are. Let me know so I can keep things going. I will work around you if you work with me when you can.

0 0 1 || Is this an original universe?

This RP is based in what I like to call the 'Hyperverse'. It is a hard reboot and adaption of my previous original universes of Vigilance and the Mavericksverse. The biggest difference is the complete erasure of the heroes known as the Mavericks. This is due to the fact I only can claim the rights to one of the characters. In terms of differences from Vigilance, there's been several changes made to Hyperhumans, most notably the broadening of their abilities and an isolated power source. All major organizations from Vigilance have been done away with in order to free players of constrictions and allow for a more general world building experience for those who wish to contribute.

0 0 2 || Do real world location exist?

Simply yes, while Crestwood Hollow itself is a fictitious city, it is still set inside the very real state of New Hampshire and country known as the United States of America. Real world cities such as New York, San Francisco, all exist with no changes outside of the technological advancements made in the lore.

0 0 3 || Can I make an original character?

Yes, in fact that would be preferable to adapting a character original conceived for another RP. However there is no penalty for re-using a character and it won't slow or affect your acceptance. I just prefer fresh ideas especially with the Hyperhuman concept.

0 0 4 || How many players will there be?

The aim is to gather four to six reliable players who will make up the 'Study' group. If need be we can run the RP with as few as three or as many as eight. New players can be added down the road if our numbers dwindle where as if we keep a full roster no new acceptances will be made.

0 0 5 || What kind of powers can I use?

The ideal powersets will be those which allow the character to affect the world around them. Powers which leave the character with physical deformities will be given a low priority in acceptances as the RP is based on the players attending a public school. As such any 'freaks of nature' would simply stand out too much for them to attend the school. All powersets will start at a street level or lower, meaning they barely give the characters an edge above an average human. Throughout the RP, the character's abilities will grow so they should be written with development in mind.

0 0 6 || Can I use magic?

Characters in this RP are required to be Hyperhumans only. That said, no you are not able to use magic or gain your abilities from any other source. This means you can not be a vampire, werewolf, alien or demi-god.

0 0 7 || Can I have more than one character?

You may only have one primary character in this RP, however you are encouraged to develop a cast of secondary characters to interact and challenge your character. It is more than welcomed for each character to come from within different social circles at Mather Memorial High School and not know each other before the events of the RP.

In the event that your character died in the IC, you may create a replacement player provided you weren't removed from the RP for any of the reasons specified under the rules.

0 0 8 || Can my character be bad/evil?

Your character should struggle with morality, after all suddenly being gifted with powers above those of mere mortals could lead to some overwhelming temptation whether to get revenge or use them for self gain. But that said, your character should not spiral out of control, or at least the group should step in before then. The overall idea is that our characters do become heroes in the end.

0 0 9 || Can my secondary characters be bad/evil?

You are free to do as you wish with secondary characters. If you wish to mold them into an antagonist for the group you are encouraged to consult me and we can collaborate on how to make that happen.

0 1 0 || What will the plot be like?

The plot will follow a group of students who are handpicked by a teacher to be part of his 'study group'. However unbeknownst to the students, the teacher is aware each of them are a Hyperhuman and plans to teach them how to both control and use their extraordinary gifts. The 'Study Group' will bond and grow together eventually leaving the class room behind to protect their home from both others like them and forces no one has ever seen before.

0 1 1 || Can my character die?

Simply put yes. There will be moments in the RP where character death is entirely possible and I would like to treat these moments in as real of a manner as I can. Going into this RP you should know that in the event one of these situations arise, I will not as if I can kill your character, I will simply do it. Abandoned characters will often be turned into cannon fodder.

0 1 2 || If my character dies am I out of the RP?

Absolutely not unless you had abandoned your character. An abandoned character means you've likely dropped the RP, or missed your posting deadline thus meaning you're out. If your character died by circumstance you are free to make a new character and continue as part of the RP. I also understand bowing out after the death of your character though.

//DESCRIPTION:
Aiden's pale skin and dark eyes give him a striking appearance that is complemented further by his angular features. Despite his good looks, his unimposing frame allows him to remain invisible to most people, and he is prone to walking along the perimeter of a room, with his hands in his pockets and his head down. His dress sense is similarly low-key, and he leans towards baggy hoodies and vintage tees. He has a scar running up the inside of his right forearm, measuring about 20cm in length, which he obtained during a childhood accident. He has both ears pierced but will usually only wear one earring at a time.

▼ B I O G R A P H Y:

Aiden was born in Quebec, Canada; his mother's homeland, she and husband Hugh had settled there shortly before they wed. An only child, Aiden spent the first seven years of his life in Victoriaville, before a sudden overnight move took them across the border to the USA. Aiden only vaguely remembered this, and asking his parents questions about that night always managed to ignite an argument. The family relocated to Massachusetts only briefly, and by the time Aiden was ten they had already migrated north to New Hampshire and the sleepy town of Crestwood Hollow. It is here that Aiden did most of his 'growing up': he excelled in his classes and built an impressive repertoire of talents, but he never quite managed to fit in with his peers and was always relatively independent.

As he grew older and discovered more about himself, Aiden realised that he was gay. He had always had a good relationship with his parents and didn't wait very long before coming out to them; they didn't react violently, but they weren't exactly supportive either. Both his parents preferred to just not talk about this aspect of the ever-developing Aiden, rather than outright accept it, and this drove something of a wedge between them. Though it was never severe enough to have a noted effect on the household, it left some fairly deep emotional wounds on Aiden that he never properly addressed.

A straight A student at Mather Memorial High, Aiden kept himself to himself with the goal of moving out of his sleepy city to study at a college cross-country once he graduated. However, in his final year of study, things hit the rocks. Aiden fell mysteriously ill, developing a dangerously high fever that left him bedridden. He was in so much pain that it felt like his skin was burning, and as such he never noticed the knowingly worried looks his parents would exchange as they watched over him. It wasn't until a few days later, when contact with their son's skin gave his doctor first degree burns, that the McKennas decided to reveal their secret.

They revealed to Aiden that the McKenna line was Hyper, and that all his male ancestors had displayed some manifestation of the gene by the time they turned 18. Whilst it was comforting to know that he wasn't on the brink of death, Aiden had a hard time adjusting to the immense way his life was changing. His trust in his parents was broken, and even once he recovered from his 'fever' he barely spoke to them. He had a depressive episode lasting several months, that wreaked havoc on his academic score and his familial relationships. It wasn't until he accidentally set fire to a mall and almost burned the place to the ground, that his parents decided to pull him from school. Aiden spent the remainder of term learning to control these strange new abilities he had been burdened with, and is now begrudgingly a year behind as he heads back into Mather Memorial this September.

▼ A B I L I T I E S / S K I L L S:

//ABILITIES:
◼ PYROKINESIS | Aiden can create, shape and manipulate fire. He can launch brief blasts and waves of flame at targets, as well as being able to produce sustained jets of fire. With greater concentration, Aiden is able to shape the flames to his will, forming them into balls or darts with higher precision and greater speed; this allows him to reduce collateral damage. In the future, should he develop a greater control over his abilities, he would be able to create much more complex effects, such as flame vortices or elaborate constructs of fire. Whilst he is not able to actively generate heat without a flame, his body itself acts as a passive heat source: a side effect of his powers causes his body temperature to consistently remain in the region of 120F. As such, his touch is painful and capable of inflicting minor burns with prolonged contact. His body temperature increases dramatically whilst using his powers. Naturally, he is immune to heat and cannot be burned.

//SKILLS:
◼ ACADEMIA | Aiden is highly academic; a very intellectual young man, his mind is rife with creativity and a good understanding of the world around him. His intelligence makes him a good problem-solver and an efficient persuasive force. As is often the case with the highly intelligent, Aiden has unfortunately become somewhat cynical of the world in his understanding of it; he sees things as they are, and a lot of the time he doesn't like what he sees.

◼ LANGUAGE | Aiden's upbringing has afforded him bilingualism: he can speak English and French fluently. He is also adequate at spoken Spanish and German, having studied them for several years, and has retained enough of the basics to seek directions and order meals. He knows a handful of Gaelic words and phrases, though would never be able to appropriately use the language.

◼ MINDFULNESS | Aiden has had to learn to regulate his emotions in order to maintain his quality of life; situations of stress cause his body temperature to rise, which can become a problem if he becomes hot enough to ignite things like paper or wood. Whilst it is inevitable that he will at times become stressed or angry, practicing yoga and meditation has allowed him to minimise these scenarios. His suppressed emotional states have also afforded him the perfect 'poker face' and make him difficult to read, which can be an advantage.

◼ ARTISTIC | Aiden is very artistic, and is an especially fantastic drawer and painter. He will often be found sketching in his notebook. He likes making music, and can play the piano and violin, but he finds them tedious and would like to learn guitar.

//LIMITATIONS:
◼ FATIGUE | Using his powers is taxing for Aiden on both a physical and mental level. Naturally, excessive use can exhaust Aiden to the point where he becomes unconscious. This not only leaves himself vulnerable, but also puts those around him at risk as he is no longer able to control the flames he has summoned. In a similar vein, the more drained Aiden becomes, the more difficulty he has with controlling his powers, making larger feats risky business.

◼ FUEL | Fire requires oxygen and heat in order to fuel it; without sufficient oxygen, Aiden's flames will be extinguished. Similarly, although his body produces an adequate amount of heat to use his powers in cold climates, they will be much less effective and he will often find these situations problematic as he finds himself unable to perform in the same way he is used to. His flames cannot burn anything that is not ordinarily combustable.

◼ CONTROL | It is of paramount importance that Aiden be able to control his powers, as they are highly dangerous and destructive in nature. Losing control of his powers puts everyone around him in danger. Unfortunately for Aiden, his emotional state can affect his abilities and sudden emotional outbursts can have consequences beyond his control. Whilst he is adept at keeping himself level-headed, it is inevitable that his emotions will get the better of him from time to time; and having been bottled up in an effort to suppress them, they are likely to be even more violent when they do erupt.

//WEAKNESSES:
◼ PHYSICALITY | Aiden is physically weak, and boasts absolutely zero training in any sort of physical combat or self defence. In a situation where his powers are not effective, Aiden would have a great deal of difficulty protecting himself. As well as a lack of strength, Aiden is also not especially fast and can be easily outran by anyone who regularly exercises.

◼ EXTINGUISHERS | As Aiden's powers are fire-based, he is naturally weak against those same substances that can extinguish fire. Water, sand and other substances are able to put out his flames and render him useless; and whilst they aren't likely to have any adverse effects on him physically, they will leave him vulnerable to other forms of attack.

◼ HEAT RESISTANCE | Heat resistant materials such as concrete, brick and some metals pose a problem for Aiden, as he is unable to effectively burn through them. Confining Aiden in a fire-resistant space would effectively imprison him.

◼ SMOKE | Whilst Aiden is immune to heat and flame, he does not have any sort of altered lung capacity, and is still adversely effected by smoke. He is able to rush into a burning building and withstand the flames, but he would still struggle to breath and begin to choke after too long.

//DESCRIPTION:
Winter is all about confidence and holds herself to a high standard when she is out and about. She has long, blonde hair that she habitually takes care of, along with dark blue eyes (her best feature, in her opinion) and light skin. She tends to wear traditional girly clothing such as blouses, skirts, heels, and purses but doesn't mind wearing the occasional t-shirt and jeans (provided they are high quality). She walks around with her head held high, knowing people are looking at her and knowing she has a reputation to uphold. She never appears with a hair out of place or a chipped nail.

"We all have our skeletons."
Winter lost her mother when she was very young. Winter doesn't remember much about her apart from her blonde hair and green eyes and the fact she would sing to her to get her to sleep. Her father worked tirelessly to make sure he could provide for his daughter with anything she wanted, and his efforts paid off with him owning and running a huge company. He married shortly after Winter's 10th birthday to a woman much younger than him. Though the woman tried to befriend Winter, it was obvious the two wouldn't get along, as no one could rightfully take the place of her mother. She remained cordial out of love for her father, but as the years went on, her father worked more and more and her parents began their new lifestyle of the wealthy, leaving Winter in the hands of a nanny or babysitter while they jet-setted around the world. They would buy Winter whatever she wanted, though what she always wanted was her family to be home with her.

High School was pretty much a breeze for Winter. She did well in school, teacher's liked her, and she was envied and sought after by many people. She ran with the tough crowd of jocks and preps, those of which would pick on and tease other students, gossip, and spread rumors. Truth be told, it made Winter sick and she didn't do it if she could help it, but she had to maintain appearances, otherwise she would be a nobody and if there's one thing Winter is not, it's a nobody.

Due to her family, her looks, her style, and her demenour, Winter stands at one of the most popular girls in school. The one everyone wants to be friends with and the one everyone secretly hates (ah...high school).

◼ Memory Manipulation - Winter has the ability to manipulate the memories of herself and others. She is able to erase memories, alter them, repair or break them down, and view them. She can cause amnesia, confusion, or bits of "psychic visions" while viewing the memory. She must hold a physical contact with the person at the start, but with training, she should be able to do it without touching. |

◼ Memory Walk - While viewing a memory, whether her own or someone else's, Winter can walk around in the memory in the surrounding area. She can only view the specific setting and cannot travel far outside of the immediate realm. This power is not available at the start, but can be obtained with training.

◼ Memory Absorption - Winter is able to harness the power of memories by absorbing them and using them against enemies. The energy itself is stored in Winter's consciousness and can be unleashed when chosen. Depending on the amount of memories stored, the attack could be small or large. This power is not available at the start, but can be obtained with training.

//SKILLS:
◼ Charismatic - Winter is highly charismatic, able to get others to listen to her and able to sway people to look at her opinions and agree with them. She is a natural born talker.

◼ Popular - Winter is blonde, beautiful, and a cheerleader, so thus her standing in the school is one of the higher tiers of the social ladder. This allows her many things in her school life from boys (and girls) wanting to do things for her to being given things reguarly.

◼ Athletic - Winter is an athlete, a cheerleader during football season, and a tennis player during spring. As such, she has strong endurance and flexibility.

◼ Math Whiz - Though she won't admit it outright, Winter is scary good at math. It is her best subject in school. She is able to calculate easily in her head (something she got from her mother, possibly)|

//LIMITATIONS:
◼ Dumb Blonde Stereotype - Due to her looks and her nature, Winter is often perceived as the stereotypical "dumb blonde" by her peers and others. Though her grades don't reflect that, she does get others treating her like she is stupid.

◼ Shattered Home - Winter's home life is not the greatest, with her father constantly working and her step-mother trying too hard to be the mom in her life, and both of their jet-setting off to the unknown, Winter doesn't have the greatest life outside of the school walls.

◼ Be Like The Cool Kids - Though she is considered popular, she has to maintain it by doing what the popular kids do and that means being cruel to the other kids. Though it sickens her, she has been known to put people down and tease other kids, especially when her friends are around and doing the same thing. Thus, Winter is perceived by a few people as a bully. |

◼ Psychic Weakness - Due to Winter's Memory ability, she is more susceptible to psychic attacks and someone with a stronger psychic connection than her would be immune to her abilities and can even use them against her.

◼ Stressed Out - If put under the intense pressure of stress, her powers could become unstable and could affect her and those around her in negative ways.

◼ Amnesia Setback - If Winter would be rendered with amnesia, it could cause significant harm to her consciousness and unless she fought back considerably, she may never be able to remember anything ever again. |

Samuel Preecher | - The Carlyle family butler (yes they have a butler) and the parent when Winter is home when her parents are traveling. He likes his job working for a nice family but notices how it is affecting Winter and tries to be the moral compass and ear to listen whenever she needs it.

Though Winter could take or leave most of her other girl friends, Winter doesn't feel that way about Brynn and she enjoys hanging out with her, whether at their respective homes, the mall, or at school. She feels she can share anything with Brynn and not hear it through hushed whispers at school
