2013 - Oxford, Earth

The University is committed to achieving a multinational student body by attracting the very best students from across the globe to study at all levels, regardless of background or circumstance. This aim promotes diversity and cultural exchange, and seeks to give students throughout the world the opportunity to benefit from an Oxford education. Oxford University Mission statement; and a welcome to those who have intelligence but have lack of funds.

When you work two jobs to save up money to get into Oxford, than succeed in getting grants and scholarships you take full pride in your studies and your ability to learn. Coming from a small poor suburb of London with an alcoholic mother and a drug abusing father; young Olivia Watson had made her way up and out of the slums to something of a better life. Between working a job and going full time to the University, the young blonde had really come far in life.

Buzz Buzz Buzz. A long sleepy yawn left the blonde as her hazel eyes opened staring at her clock. Seven in the morning and she was required to be at the school at nine for classes. Today was just going to be another boring day. Raising up from her bed, she stretched her arms over her head, rising the tank top from around her stomach up high before letting her arms fall down to her side in a lazy fashion. Rising to her feet, the young girl stood at her full height of five foot five inches. For a twenty four year old woman, she was quite short but she didn’t care. She called herself fun sized when people would bring it up and it was always a good ice breaker for chatting with people. This blonde was not afraid to talk to people, in fact her parents worried that it would get into a lot of trouble, but so far so good, she was safe.

Pulling out her clothes she had chosen to wear for the day she set up her ironing board. Never really been much of a fan for ironing, since her drier broke she needed to get rid of the wrinkles in her shirt. Throwing up her hair into a pony tail, she took the iron up and looked at it. It was plugged in, functioning and warm but her one weakness hit her; she found a button she had never pressed before. After observing it she turned the flat part of the iron towards her face as she pressed the button. Spray! Water shot out onto her face in an explosion of mist. A small cough left her as she looked at the iron with anger before brushing the mist off of her face and pushed the placed the iron down onto the shirt and began to flatten out the wrinkles. Olivia had an issue, aside from being extremely social and a small training in martial arts; she had an obsession with touching things. A do not touch verbal warning or sign was something she couldn’t obey. Not being she was someone who wants to be disobedient or problem causing but because she had a firm belief that people learn better by feeling things; and that has landed her into trouble in the past and if only she knew what type of trouble it would get her into in the near future.

Dressed in a pair of dark blue jeans, black snickers and a black comfortable shirt, the blonde curled her hair lightly and started towards the door, grabbing her purse and her backpack; she locked the door behind her and left for the campus.

The Oxford campus was a vast building with many different rooms as it was converted from an old church into a college campus. The beautiful of the building had been touched by many hands including Olivia’s. Studying there had been a large treat for the young blonde, the history of the building alone was wonderment and finishing up her last year of being a Great Britain Historian major just made her depressed to see the building go. Walking up the stairs and entering the building the clock rang eight in the morning and the blonde hurried to her favorite place to spend before going to classes, the archeology department. While it wasn’t her major, she did appreciate all the things they would pull out of excursions and enjoyed looking at them. Though she got consistently lectured for touching the artifacts, she couldn’t stop herself. Things just… well they just needed to be touched.

Pushing against the handle of the large oak door that hid the dug up artifacts, the young girl entered with pep in her step. A dig up in Ireland had brought out some new items out that were brought to the college for analyzing, and Olivia had every intention on seeing the new things. The item check list went through her head as she looked at the new section. Her brain marking a date on each item until she came to a large oval shaped structure. It looked as though it was made of complete stone but in a perfect shape with no rough edges. Confusion moved across her face as she stepped over the velvet rope and closed the gap between her and it. Hazel eyes squinting at the object in front of her she leaned in, giving it a smell. Well, it smelled like rock and it wasn’t making any sounds. While she had no intention on licking it she did, in fact, place her hand against it and leaned forward, listening. There was no sound on the inside of it and she gave it a small knock. Nothing but a small pain on her knuckles from knocking against the stone structure; nothing was simple but she still didn’t know where it came from.

A shrug lifted her small shoulders as she pulled herself back from the stone and her hand fell to her side. Stepping over the velvet rope and back to the observing distance she gave another shrug and turned, walking out the large door and shutting it behind her, completely oblivious to the large flash of light that had happened within the closing crack of the door. Before advancing too far away, Olivia stopped looking down and feeling in her pockets, her pen was gone. Sighing in defeat she turned around, needing the pen before going to class. She must have dropped it when she was in the artifacts room.

The pep in her step was still there when she arrived once again at her favorite door. Her full soft pink lips were spread into a smile showing her bright white teeth as she pulled open the heavy door once again to see a large lizard like creature standing in the door way. Its reptilian eyes blinking down at her as it towered a good foot taller than her. The smile from her lips never faded as she slowly shut the door. Once the door was closed the smile changed into a look of complete terror as she took off running. So much for her pen.

Rounding a corner in large panic, ideas flew through her head about what she could do. Call security? Run to the Dean? Grab a microphone for the speaker system and announce everything should leave? Would people believe her or would they think she’s crazy? Is she crazy? Was her mind playing tricks on her because of the artifact she touched? Was there really a lizard like creature standing in the middle of the artifacts room? There were other noises as well. Was there more than one? How many were there?! What did they want? Why were they here? SMACK, as if she really needed this as she tumbled to the floor. Her attention turned upward to see a man standing there, someone she had never seen before. In disbelief, the only thing she could say in her panic filled voice was, “Who are you?!”

2009 - New York City, New York, United States of America, Earth

It had been a pleasant afternoon for the Doctor. He had just come back to earth with his companion, a nice chap from New York City. Though the outer space adventures had been a bit too much and the Doctor knew it was time to put him back where he belonged. While he wasn't very fond of goodbyes, perhaps because they were too painful for him, he knew they were important to many humans on earth. "So I guess this is it then." He said and patted the dark haired college student on the shoulders a bit awkwardly. He and the young adult had been traveling the cosmos for some time but at the moment, it was sunny out and the human had only been away from his part time job at a dingy Starbucks for five minutes. The Doctor sighed and looked down and stepped back. There weren't any other words that were coming to mind. He was becoming a bit closed off, while he cared deeply for each person he allowed onto the TARDIS, there had been a lack of a connection lately and he found it increasingly difficult to shake the lonely feeling. And with another human deciding that earth was safer than some random asteroid or alien planet, he could only oblige, not one to force people along if it didn't fancy them anymore.

"Take care Doctor." The student said stiffly.

"You too." He replied and turned around and walked down a block before making a left and heading into an alley where he had just parked his prized blue box. He wondered if the last place he had taken him, had been the final straw. They had gotten out of another nasty trap just in the nick of time. Perhaps the strain was too much for the boy, perhaps it put things into perspective and that was all he needed. The Doctor didn't know and he refused to ask. He unlocked his TARDIS and quickly stepped inside, not too keen on picking up another stray from the same year. It just felt wrong. He hurried over to the control panel and began working with the dials and flip switches. As he went to work on deciding where to go next, something on the screen in front of him turned mauve, the usual color for a distress signal. Something or someone was in danger. He ran around to another area of the circular controls and pressed a few buttons and kicked the console. "Come on then!" He urged it to follow the signal. The Doctor was always ready for an adventure, ready to help anyone in need. The machine rattled about which caused him to grab onto the nearest solid object. The man with the sweeping brown hair and suit began to laugh as the familiar sound entered his ears, the TARDIS was humming, singing her usual tune.

It was music to the Time Lord's ears. When it stopped, he moved over to the console and looked at the data in front of him. "I see...very interesting." He muttered. "You've done it again, sexy." He said to the TARDIS and patted it happily. "Now then, let's see what is waiting for us." He said and began to scan the area. The time and space machine had parked itself in the outskirts of Oxford. He recalled it being a lovely place. He checked the scanner and smiled to himself. "Oh the Silurian...a lovely bunch of people who inhabit the lower core of the earth. They're relatively harmless. I wonder who or what woke them up...it's probably too soon for the merging of humans and Silurian, though the humans are related to them...maybe a family reunion wouldn't be so bad. You never know. People and aliens coming together to live and learn from one another..." He trailed and turned to see he was alone. "Ah yes..." He walked over and down the ramp and out into the world. He closed the door behind him, it already locking with ease. He looked around and breathed in the fresh air, feeling like he was almost home. In way, he possibly was. The Doctor enjoy many alien races but for some reason, he had a soft spot for humans. They were so flawed but had so much potential inside of them.

2013 - Oxford, Earth

Everything seemed peaceful so far, nothing out of place.

He had gotten a signal that the race had been awakened. He looked around and slipped his sonic screwdriver out of his pocket and began to scan the area. He wasn't one for a lot of flash or flair, his screwdriver suited him just fine. He noted the signal was coming from the university. 'Of course.' He told himself and hurried along. He didn't see anything out of place, He walked over to the nearest building and smelled it. "Hmm." He then back up and noticed he was standing in front of the school's welcome center. It smelled somewhat welcoming. The Doctor grabbed a map to check out the area around him. His nose scrunched up as he saw the building which may hold a key to this mystery. It was the room where many artifacts were stored. He loved to visit museums just to keep score of who was more right; him or the historians. It was always him. They usually mislabeled something or didn't do enough research but it wasn't his fault that he had vast amounts of knowledge and couldn't share it with just anyone. He also disliked archeologists. He just didn't care for them much. The Doctor scratched his head a little and then ran his hand through his thick brown hair. A few females on campus were watching with interest but he rarely noticed anymore.

Clutching the map in hand, he hurried off toward his new destination. He could feel it in his bones, it had already happened. He needed to make sense of everything before chaos broke out. As he ran along, he took out his screwdriver, trying to get a read for the area around him. The blue light helped point him in the right direction. No one else seemed to be as frantic as he was so he took it as a good sign. The man in the tan tailored suit slowed down as he neared the building. As he looked at the building, taking in the surroundings, he felt someone run right into him. "Ow hey..." He winced and then looked to see a frightened looking blond. He bent down to help her up and then scanned her quickly. "You've done it haven't you?" The Doctor asked her. "You're the one who summoned the Silurian. Oh boy." He sighed but decided it was obviously unintentional but that's what the alien force had been likely counting on. "I'm The Doctor." He said, answering her question proudly. "And I haven't been here in ages, looks about the same though." He said off handedly. "I need you to calm down and show me exactly where and how you let the Silurian out. They're an alien race you see, very fascinating people. Well I was wrong, they're not really alien, they're more like you than they are me." He tried to explain quickly as he pushed her back into the building. "These type of Silurian are new to me though, but they're old adaptations of humans from millions of years ago."

"Say, what were you doing here anyway? You should really be careful..." He smiled to her, voice trailing off to see if she'd fill in her name for him.

Great, she ran into another student. Her whole graduating class is already convinced she is a klutz and now she just ran into another person. At least she didn’t knock anything over; except for herself. Typical Olivia, touching things she wasn’t supposed to and running into random people in the middle of the hallway while she was desperately trying to get away from whatever was residing behind door number one.

To her shock, Olivia found herself being helped to her a feet by a skinny but rather good looking man who seemed to be rambling on about something called a Silurian. In fact she was able to repeat the word, “Silurian?” She stumbled over her own wording as he pulled her from the ground and ran what could be best described as a glowing screwdriver stick in front of her. His pride was easily understood when he introduced himself as a doctor. Yeah, if she had her doctorate in something, she’d prefer to be called doctor instead of by her first name. And someone walking around the college campus would most likely introduce themselves to others that way. He seemed to enjoy babbling but she caught every word. He seemed like as much of a talker as she was. Which was a good thing because she had quite a story for him.

Suddenly she was getting pushed back into the building, hmm hello creepy lizard looking things in the building! Wouldn’t it be more plausible to head the other direction?! The information this Doctor was telling her had her mind boggled as she was forced back through the doors and to lead the way back towards the artifacts room . Her small body shook for a moment before she realized he was dragging out the question in order to get her name. “Olivia.” She said rather quickly before jumping into talking. The last thing she wanted to have happen was to be cut off when this… did he call himself an alien… knew more about what was in the room than she did.

“Doctor, you mean to tell me that those are aliens who have evolved from one form or another in relation to humans? Well that would explain their stance and build to look more like us but you say that they’re closer related to humans than you are but you look more like a human.” After what she had just seen within the artifacts room she was willing to believe that he might just be an alien. But he looked more like a human than the things behind the door.

Shaking her head slightly she turned her gaze back forward towards the walk way as her legs unwillingly picked up a pace, hurrying towards the door in fear that someone other than herself might have entered the room and been met with nearly immediate death. “I go to school here, I’m a historian major on my last year, but I don’t ever recall studying about such things. Lizard creatures living underneath modern civilization weren’t exactly in my textbooks so excuse my hesitation on coming to terms with the situation but unless I’ve gone completely bonkers; what I saw in there has to be real.”

Rounding the corner, Olivia picked up speed to start running, the Doctor keeping up with her as she explained what happened while she was in the room. “I went in because I wanted to see the things they excavated recently in Ireland. Most of them were pretty normal except for the giant oval shaped stone structure. It was perfectly smooth which is weird considering what it was made out of. I knocked on it and listened for a sound but it was completely solid, so I left. Then I realized I lost my pen and went back to see one of the Si…lurian standing at the door.” One additional tight corner was turned which caused them to be standing in front of the large oak doors. Olivia took a deep breath before looking at The Doctor. “Here it is.”

Without giving him much of a chance to tell her to leave, go home or go away; she pulled open the door quietly and snuck in; diving behind the first available large object to avoid getting caught. Looking from the aliens; a total of three, standing around saying something to each other she turned her attention back, gesturing for the Doctor to join her.

After she told him her name, Olivia, he seemed more keen on getting to the bottom of this mystery on his hands. While the Silurian were an intelligent breed, they had warriors of their own who didn't like to chit chat with a nice cup of hot tea so the Doctor knew time was very limited if three warriors of the Silurian race found their way to the top of the earth. It seemed Olivia was stuck on his comparison to the aliens and himself. "Oh well yes, I do look human but I'm not." He said. It was something he didn't want to get into at the moment so she would either think he was crazy or just take it in for now. The Doctor hurried along and thankfully Olivia kept up with him because he couldn't be bothered with slowing down. They were already having a conversation while on the move to locate the newly summoned Silurian. She then told him that she was a studying studying history. He found it a bit cute that humans would devote their lives to history, some of which would forget to even live in the moment. It was such a shame, some of the brightest historians lived such lonely lives.

But Olivia seemed nothing like an old doddering man so perhaps she wasn't blinded by the past yet. But he was a blessed time traveler who know the joys of the past and the future yet the present was always an elusive thing to him. She then began blubbering about how she had never heard of such creatures in her textbook which made him cock a bit of a grin. "Nope, they won't be found in any Earth textbooks in this year, Olivia." He told her happily, almost with a bit too much fascinated glee. "They are very real, I assure you." He told her. "And they can be very tricky, dangerous if provoked and with my history with humans...which is a lot mind you, they won't be too welcoming of the Silurian but you never know." The Doctor was always hopeful that a peaceful resolution could take place if both parties saw benefit from it. There was a slim chance that the humans and their ancestors could live in harmony but if it was the case, it had to be handled delicately and with caution. Otherwise there could be a lot of bloodshed and animosity towards change, history could be made for the better or worse on this day and it was that pressure that kept the Doctor on his toes.

"You must have triggered a transportation device. Accidents happen." He said as they turned the corner. The brown haired male was used to doing a lot of running. "Why would you knock on something you're not supposed to touch?" He asked her, slightly bewildered. 'Perhaps they wanted this to happen but maybe this is too early for them.' He thought. The man in his tan trench coat and dark blue suit with a blue collar shirt, came to a stop at the door. He looked to the girl and wondered if she could handle facing the aliens again. But before he could tell her to go tell the students to leave the area, she made up her own mind and let herself in. He raised a brow and followed after her. The Doctor looked around the room, it smelled alien. He smiled to himself and followed after the student. She found a place to hide but that wasn't his style. He walked out in plain sight. "I am the Doctor." He said. "Under the 15th Article of the Shadow Proclamation, I ask we put our weapons down and have a civil conversation about this planet's fate." He said.

"You don't have a weapon." One of the Silurian hissed.

"I have this." He held up his sonic screwdriver. "It's never failed me once. Okay maybe once...or twice, okay it occasionally fails me but not today." He corrected himself and then looked over to where he knew Olivia was hiding, knowing she couldn't understand their tongue. The man then waved his hand and slipped it back into the inside pocket of his trench coat. "But either way, it's gone now." He said. "Now please lower your guns, I hate guns and they've never been fond of me either." The Doctor smiled to them. One of the green creatures looked to the other two it was with and slowly lowered its weapon. This didn't go too well with the others who began to fire at him. He dove out of the way and looked around. For now, he was well hidden behind a large vase of some sort. "Now wait wait." He said. This wasn't going how he had intended. "If we can just talk about this, we can work something out." He told them as he ducked down as more lasers were fired at him. Two shattered the vase and he covered his hands with his head. "Alright fine, have it your way." He then rose to his feet and pointed his sonic screw driver, able to deactivate the guns' power from his distance. They blew up in the Silurians' hands and they didn't look too please. "Now I'm sorry but you have to listen to me."

"Do we?" One Silurian advanced on him and took out a large knife.

"Oh dear, I forgot about those..." The Doctor muttered to himself and backed up slowly. "Olivia run, get as many students as you can out of here." He quickly said. His brain would be able to come up with a new plan, sooner or later. Usually it ended up coming together at the last second. His body wasn't one for hand to hand combat. He knew these warrior types wouldn't be easy to knock out, and he wasn't one for outright killing either. He just didn't want any humans falling victim to the aliens. The idea of peace was slowly slipping away though.

Did… did he really just walk straight out to the lizard-things? Olivia’s hazel eyes went wide in shock as she leaned around the opposite side of the figure she was hiding behind and watched the interaction. Somehow the man was speaking English and the Lizard people were speaking in hisses and something that could best be described as clicks. Yet this Doctor was responded to something. Could… could he understand them? There was an immeasurable amount of shock on her small face when she drew the conclusion that he, well, he really was an alien. He was dead serious when they were running towards the giant doors and he was proving it rather vastly by communicating with the lizard creatures in front of them.

One of the heads began to turn, looking in her direction; which caused her to disappear behind her hiding spot. Holding her breath in an uncomfortable manor she slowly turned her gaze the other direction just in time to see the blasting begin. Was he really thinking that the things with giant guns would respond to someone holding a little device that blinks? The realization came quickly that he was leading them away from her hiding spot. A nice gesture but she had no intention on leaving. She caused a problem and now she had to fix it. One of the few good things that came from living with her parents; that moral has stuck with her through thin and thick… maybe, in this case she should actually run?

No! No, Olivia was not going to run away from something like this. That man-person-thing obviously wants to try to find peace with the situation and she would like to think that it would be possible. Especially if she could understand them; maybe if she could understand them, she could help the situation instead of harm it. Man… what kind of pickle did she get herself into? Lifting her head she look over the figure she was hiding behind to see him point the small blinking object in the direction of the massive aliens. Their guns blinked twice than shut off, as if powered down by the device in the Doctor’s hand. Her eyes went wide again, something that seemed to be a common reaction in that situation but it was better than screaming like a bloody fool, even if her tongue started to spill blood due to biting back the reactions she really wanted to give.

Pulled back from her daze as she peeked so curiously (it was going to kill her one day, it really was), she realized she was getting yelled at, instructions actually. Run and get as many people as she could out of the buildings. But… she couldn’t just leave, this was her problem not his, and if he wanted to help fix it; she obviously wasn’t going to argue with someone who could communicate with the creatures but she was a bit to set in her ways to leave him by himself against the creatures. Eyes darting and hair flying, she finally figured out what she was going to do. A mad dash with strong prayers of not being seen, she pulled the red fire alarm, sending the building up in arms with alarms and the fire system instantly went off. Well… they already broke two vases; why not cover things in water?

The reaction from the aliens… not, not the human alien, the lizard things… was that they were not expecting such a situation to happen, in fact that dropped their guns except the one that was advancing on the Doctor baring a large bowie knife, she had to stop him/her/it! Her sheer will and want to save the man who called himself the Doctor kicked in and she took off towards the alien with the knife as the other two reacted to the water with their instant confusion. The break between the three communicating with each other was all she needed. Jump Olivia launched herself from the ground and onto the back of the lizard-alien with the knife, startling it enough to have it drop the knife as Olivia wrapped a small arm around its neck and locked it in place with the other. Her long legs latching around the waist of the alien as it began to fumble about throwing its arms and crashing into things as an attempt to get Olivia off of his back as he pried away at her arm, clawing and scratched and hissing.

The alien backed away from its comrades further and further. Olivia, moving her head slightly was able to make eye contact with the other alien, the human looking one, and yell. “RUN!” Before the alien backed her into the stone structure, it rippled like a drop hitting a pool of water and the two disappeared in a flash of yellow light.

The light was just as blinding inside the stone as it was outside. Her eyes closely tightly as the alien continued to walk backwards, the flailing of its arms and clawing at her seemed to slow as they moved out of the stone structure and into… well what can be called a stone cavern filled with… hissing noises… Opening her eyes, Olivia saw that the cavern held at least twenty to thirty of the aliens she just had in a choke hold. Horror filled her eyes as the alien fell to its knees than onto its face. She had knocked him out, yay, but in front of his comrades. “You’ve got to be joking.” She muttered under her breath as she slowly got to her feet. The room around her seemed to hesitate as she rose to her full height, for not being tall she came across as intimidating by taking out one of their people but… that didn’t last long because soon she was advanced upon and even though she kicked and fought. She was caught and drug away from the teleportation stone; the last thing echoing out of her mouth as she was drug into the darkness was something she honestly never thought she’d yell, “DOCTOR!”

It happened very fast, too fast for him to predict, let alone stop. "No!" He called out as Olivia jumped onto the back of one of the aliens. He already knew this would make things worse, much much worse. For a lot of people involved. He ran forward but it was too late, the girl and the armed alien had vanished thanks to the tricky teleport. The other two quickly followed the example of the alien and the human girl, leaving the Doctor behind. He clenched his fist and looked around. He needed to ensure that no one else would interfere and mess things up any further. The Doctor felt a tinge inside of his brain but it was nothing new, he had the whole universe contained in his mind, he saw the past, present and future, what had to happen and what couldn't happen. This particular point in history was undefined by anything which meant they could make history for good or for bad. The long haired man sprinted back to the front of the building and went outside. Thanks to the fire alarm, most people were gone but he still found a sign which said "do not enter" and he put it on the door and hurried back inside to et to the bottom of things, quite literally.

With his sonic screwdriver still in hand, he moved back to the teleportation tablet and identified it quickly. The readings were fed into his brain and he knew he would have to be very careful. The Silurian weren't all violent, but they were probably curious to inspect their genetic brother, or in this case sister. He was sure they would try to open her up and poke around inside before either killing her, interrogating her or something else entirely. There was still hope that he could find someone who was willing to talk without any intimidation or distress and surely some peace treaty could be made between the two groups. For now he would have to put the fate of the human race in the hands of a very troublesome but earnest girl. How human. The Doctor knew there wasn't any time to waste so he moved to the portal, activated it and was quickly taken down under the earth to the habitat the aliens had made for themselves. It was very clever and cozy though a bit dim. Once he was there, he saw many of the other Silurian were sleeping, still in a deep hibernation.

'It seems she woke a few up, better than a whole army.' He mused lightly and began to walk around, his sonic screwdriver in hand but not yet activated or glowing. He thought he heard someone faintly calling out for him. The alien's heart rate jumped slightly but he forced himself not to just sprint around the facility like a mad man and make matters worse. As much as he dreaded it, he would need to tread lightly when it came to finding Olivia and then trying to work out some negotiations. His two hearts relaxed slightly as he kept walking, his eyes moving from green being to green being. They were sleeping, standing up as if items on a shelf waiting to be plucked. The Doctor came to a cross and used his screwdriver to point him in a general direction. Surely their maze of hallways and rooms would confuse a guest. He took a right and then about ten seconds passed and he turned around and went the opposite direction.

The Doctor continued along the labyrinth, turning whenever his gut told him to. He came into a large camber with tables and seat and he assumed it was a place which would be suitable for discussion. He turned around and was about to go back to exploring and searching when an older Silurian blocked his path. This one wasn't a warrior type at all, no this one seemed to hold more grace and authority. "Excuse me, hello. Didn't mean to intrude, my friend has been taken down here and I'd like to retrieve her if you don't mind." He said very calmly and casually. The Doctor then held out his psychic paper to show he was someone of importance on earth and quickly put it away, his other hand still loosely holding his sonic screwdriver. "I would also like to open the idea that we could perhaps restore the peace, my friend accidentally summoned some of your troops and the earth humans mean no one any harm but we don't want to start a war so if casualties could be avoid, that would be brilliant." He tried to explain.

The Silurian in front of him breathed in deep and then out. Still, the Doctor was pretty hopeful that something decent could be reached to help both species. The man nodded, "I think something can be reached, the soldiers who attacked you were going against orders but we will straighten this out."

"Thank you." Then they headed along, the Doctor quick on the man's tail as they found where Olivia was being stashed. It seemed that they had locked her up in some kind of small medical lab where they were aiming to cut her up and observe her physical functions. The man who the Doctor had found quickly put a stop to it and ordered they let the human go, it took some talking back and forth before she was let out of her restraints. He pulled her over next to him, often protective of even the most precocious of humans. Her intentions were good albeit rash and unnecessary but those were qualities that made humans a bit endearing. "Now that this is all settled I won't just leave without aiming to work something out." He proposed. He slipped an arm around Olivia's shoulders and led her back out of the cramped room and into the hall which was probably not much better, it was a little less threatening at least. "You shouldn't have done that, you could have been killed. I know what I'm doing; you don't." He lectured her.

Then he smiled and patted her head, "Glad you're okay though, I can't have them keep you down here like a pet!" He laughed as the other Silurian came out and they headed back to the large chamber where they could talk without weapons. Weapons to him were too much, unnecessary and just pointless. Once they were back on a neutral ground, of sorts, He took a seat on one of the long benches, swinging one leg over, straddling it. The Doctor looked to Olivia and then to the others were still present. "What do you think?" He asked her. "Do you think the human race is ready to meet their ancestors?" It seemed, even though they came up and wound up in Oxford, it seemed like the time wasn't right yet. "How about giving it about a century?" He suggested. Olivia seemed to agree that it might be enough time. He stood up and shook hands with the Silurian man who seemed to hold the highest of authority. "Thank you, things could have escalated there." He smiled and looked around as the few warriors begrudgingly retreated.

"You can go back the way you came and we'll disable the transport for now."

"Will do." The Doctor saluted and hurried off with Olivia. He wasn't too sure what to do with her now. He didn't think he'd find another companion so soon but he also wasn't sure if she'd be able to handle life in the TARDIS if she kept acting without thinking. As they made their way back to the teleport and activated it, he still wasn't sure what to do. 'Can she go back to living a normal...dull life as a historian?' He wondered. Most of the human history was wrong and very stunted in its knowledge and upholding of history. He stepped back and knocked on the stone and nothing happened, rather glad there was no way to mess with the alien race for now. He looked around the room and slipped his sonic screwdriver back into his chest pocket. "Well Olivia, it's been rather interesting but I must be on my way, places to save, people to see, things to do, thoughts to well...think." The Doctor smiled. As he headed for the exit, he slowed down a little, the loneliness in his heart acting like emotional quicksand.

"Aaaactually....would you like to see something?" He turned around to Olivia with a goofy smile. He grabbed her hand and pulled her along with him until they reached a plain blue police call box. He let go of her hand and fished out his key and unlocked it. "So unsuspecting, so faithful, so very alien." He said excitedly and pushed open the door and was about to hop inside but then decided he should let the lady in first. He stepped out of the way and motioned for her to take a peek inside. "Welcome to my spaceship." He said proudly.

Had someone told Olivia as she crawled out of bed that today would be the day that she encountered not one type of alien but two different kinds, she would have laughed at you and went on her merry way. Now look at her, being pulled through a labyrinth by lizard-looking people yelling for a man who she was sure wasn’t exactly a ‘man’. Man or not, he was the only one who could help her at this moment because he was the only one who seemed to know anything about the situation at hand.

“Where are you taking me? Why are you attacking earth? What did we do to you?” Many questions left her mouth but she kept her tone down because she didn’t want to wake the group that seemed to be sleeping in the cavern behind them. The Silurian people seemed to be communicating with each other but lacked the ability to talk to her. How the man could communicate with them and actually get answers but she couldn’t is a mystery to her. He was speaking English after all and they were responding in their native tongue but a conversation did happen. This was just getting more and more confusing as she was pulled along.

The labyrinth seemed to be never ending as they pulled her onwards. Though she started to get smart about it, shutting her mouth when she realized she couldn’t communicate with them, she began to memorize the route she was being taken. If she could get away, break free somehow, maybe she could run back to the transporter and leave. Leave knowing these things were under the soil she walked on every day would be something she would have to live with the rest of her life, why couldn’t they be nice? Well maybe she shouldn’t have jumped one and knocked it out. That probably wouldn’t help her plead her case but that did shoot at someone and come at a person with a knife; she couldn’t have just stood around doing nothing.

The end result of the travels took them to a room that could best be described as an operating room. A dramatic toss from the two Silurians caused her fall against the full bodied chair in the middle of the room. Without giving her much warning (as if she could understand them anyway) they strapped down her wrists and ankles. Her hope was that if she didn’t struggle, they wouldn’t tie her up too tight. Though the pull on the straps wasn’t exactly what she was hoping for. “Ouch!” She said quickly, her hazel gaze moving from the straps to the lizard creatures that seemed to pay no mind to the fact that they had latched her in so tightly. Then again, if someone had taken out one of your partners, it would be a good idea to keep them locked up as tightly as possible.

A look of worry moved across her face as she looked around the room. The place was filled with what could best be described as surgical equipment. “Oh no…” She muttered under her breath, her eyes got a bigger and bigger as she observed more and more of the equipment. A small amount of panic moved through her as her hands started to shake. The devices looked advanced yet primitive at the same time, but they all gave off the same impression; pain. It didn’t take long before more individuals to enter the room. The Silurians that had pulled her in and two more dressed in white classy looking robes presenting themselves as a higher position compared to the creatures that pulled her around.

It wasn’t until the Silurians in white started to approach her that her worry began to turn into a small form of panic. While the creatures were stunning to encounter, she didn’t like the thought of getting cut open and having her insides examined while she was still alive. As the creatures advanced she moved her head back as far as the headrest would allow, even though they couldn’t communicate, the look of worry and expression of unwanted advancement should be interoperated through any language right… right?! A small gasp left her as the Silurian raised the sharp looking device and she held her breath, her eyes closed awaiting certain pain.

The wait continued a lot longer than she had expected due to another communication in their native tongue, her right eye slowly opened to see another Silurian had entered the room. This one was in colorful clothing and seemed to hold itself to a higher standard just by its stance alone. Her other eye slowly opened to see a semi familiar face peeking into the room as the warriors began to undo the restraints. The Doctor had come for her and it wasn’t until she was pulled to his side that her expression softened. Though she could understand him and let him do all the talking (not that her talking would do any good anyway), she felt a little annoyed as she was lead outside. “You were attacked with a knife. I couldn’t just let them hit you. Though I am sorry for the entire ruckus this caused.”

There was no way that she was leaving the Doctor’s side as he started down the path towards the open seating area she had been drug through. Pinned to his side but staying standing as he sat at the bench she looked around nodding slowly to his statement about the time frame of introducing one species to another. “Maybe under less gun and knife welding circumstances.” She responded softly, almost in a whisper as her gaze stayed locked on the creatures in front of her. The gesture was understandable, the simple directional pointing back towards the transporter. Once they were through she watched him knock on the stone structure to see that it was, in fact, solid again.

“Funny…” She said softly, “I did the same thing and it turned on.” Yeah, she was stating the obvious at the moment but when you were baffled as she was for the situation at hand, you really try to find something to say when people start walking off, anything to keep someone around; especially someone who needed to do a heck of a lot of explaining to her. A small look of disappointment moved across her face as she watched him walk away. Was he really just going to leave? Leave her with these thoughts and the situation that just happened. She had so many questions she wanted answered.

Her mouth had opened slightly to call out to him as he turned around; to her enjoyment he took her hand and pulled her along to outside of the hallways. People had begun to file back into Oxford, completely unaware of what had transpired inside. “Yes!” She said, her voice sounding much more excited that she had hoped to lead on. But he was full of information, wisdom and was someone she could learn from; plus he was cute, that was a bonus in itself.

The run took them to an old fashion police box sitting in the grassy area of Oxford. “A police box?” She questioned as he let go of her hand and pulled out a key. When he introduced it as his spaceship, she shot him a look of ‘are you kidding me?’ that was mixed with excitement and curiosity. Slowly stepping passed him into the blue box she found herself stopping in mid step, gripping onto the railing bars inside as she looked around. Her jaw dropping open in shock, “You must be joking.” Spinning around she faced him standing in the door way, “This is bloody brilliant!” She said waving her hands and running them through her hair as she turned back around, making a small circle before facing back at him.

“Okay,” She began as she stopped, facing him again still standing on the ramp. Her hands released her hair and stretched out ripping onto the railing again. “I have to ask some questions. First off, what are Silurians? If you’re an alien, why do you look so human? What makes you an alien?” Her eyes shifted around the spaceship than looked back to him. “And why a police box?” Oh yes she was full of questions and many many more but can you really blame her?

Thankfully the worse was behind them, for now. And he could finally dash off into another cozy corner in outer space. The Doctor was often amused by the first impressions the TARDIS had on people. And this blond called Olivia was no different than the others who had graced the control room of the TARDIS. She seemed to enjoy its madness as much as he did. He grinned and walked in after her and closed the door, as he didn't need it becoming a huge ordeal. Thankfully they were in a remote enough area that stragglers from the university probably wouldn't find them. Even so, no one would get in without his say so. He propped himself against the closed door and folded his arms, watching her. She then said she had some questions and he nodded, not minding a little Q and A session. One would think that after so many years, he would grow weary of answering the same questions but he didn't.

Nope, the Doctor was fond of teaching and talking and babbling and wandering around and all that.

Her first question asked about the aliens. He thought he covered that already. "Well they're an old race which has hidden itself within the Earth. They are your reptilian ancestors, like another branch of your genetic tree." He tried to explain. "There are many many different types of variants of the Silurians. The ones who we happened across were more humanoid in appearance, they didn't have a third eye but then again we only crossed paths with very few so there really is no telling what's what down there but I don't think we should poke around and get ourselves into anymore trouble." He hummed. Her second question was if he was alien, why did he appear human? "I am alien." He corrected her. "And Time Lords appear as your kind do but don't get too cocky there," He grinned. "it isn't as though humans were the first looking humans to pop up...oh does that make sense?" He wondered and shrugged.

"It's quite alright, you're just thinking in ways your brain can connect." A pause. "But what makes me human? Oh I just answered that didn't I?" He muttered. "What were you saying now?" The Doctor asked her and then he remembered. "What makes me alien? Well I just am. I'm from the planet Gallifrey, beautiful place, just so magnificent." He said wistfully. "You're alien too you know." He pointed out to her. "But that label should really be rethought..." He trailed off, not too certain that it was a term people used with kindness just because they found something different. But he was spacing out again and that wasn't very polite. Finally he reached the end of her list of questions. "Well this baby can disguise anywhere it's parked. Say in Rome, it would look like a statue until I say otherwise but when I was in the 1950s, 60s, it glitched and stayed this way and well I rather like it so I found no reason to change it back." He smiled to her. "Alright then?"

He walked up to his control and pressed a few buttons, paced around to the other side of the central system and then gave a bell a little ding. "I think you and I should go somewhere a lot less...intense." He suggested. "For helping me." But also sort of not. He told Olivia. He thought about where they should go, and where she might enjoy herself. "How about a trip back in time eh? You like history right? History is great." He grinned and entered in the right date and time and location. "Hold on tight!" He said enthusiastically and kicked the machine and it rumbled and shook. Letting out a laugh, he felt himself home, well as close to him as he could get. He glanced over his shoulder to see the human girl struggling a little but the ride was as stable as it could get. The ride ended and he parked the machine and ran a hand through his hair, making he looked good. "Why won't we go on out and check it out." He said to her with a simple smile and moved to the door and pulled it open for her.

"Welcome to Southwark, 1599. I thought we may go see a show...Shakespeare perhaps?" The Doctor suggested to her. They headed outside, the night was just settling into the busy town. They walked around. The scents of bread, dirt, dung, flowers and wine were all around them. He pocketed his hands, getting comfortable already. He leaned in close to her. "Why don't we linger for a bit, oh watch it." He pulled her to the side as something emptied above them. "Camber pots." He explained though he had a feeling he didn't need to. The girl seemed smart enough to know her history fairly well so he hoped she would enjoy herself. "I think the Globe Theater is this way." He offered his arm for her to take so they could go and see a real play in person. The Doctor was a big fan of William Shakespeare and would sometimes pop in for a show every now and again, but he always tried to stay out of trouble.

This was a lot to take in. You’d think after being at Oxford for as long as she has, that she would be used to receiving large amounts of unimaginable information in a short span of time but this, boy howdy this was a different story in amongst itself. There young Olivia Watson stood in the middle of a space ship that was a lot bigger on the inside than it was on the outside with an alien who looked a lot like he should be a human. Her hands went up into her blonde hair as her hazel eyes blinked listening to him talk. He was full of so much information that it was almost overwhelming. Almost is the key word; because it was also exciting. Olivia had an unremarkable drive to learn and this; this was someone she could learn from. Or something, whatever the proper term would be to use in this case.

When he said that the term alien should really be rethought, her hands dropped from her hair and she opened her mouth to retort. A wave of realization moved across her face before she nodded, “You have a valid point.” She said simply before looking back around at the inside of the TARDIS. This was insane, a good insane though. How many people on Earth had a chance to walk inside a spaceship with a good looking man who is actually an alien. “Nahhhhhh,” She said pulling out the word as she followed him to the control panel. “The police box looks nice.” A nod left her as they arrived at the panel. Her drive to touch things was massive but she found her urge subsided by taking hold of what looked like it could be a handle bar as she stared at the machine in front of her. “It’s marvelous.” She said as her head rolled upward, following the mechanics of the machine spreading upwards and into the ceiling. “Incredible really.”

Her head jerked back in the direction of The Doctor. Even though he said that she helped him, it was really about half and half. If she hadn’t jumped onto the Silurian’s back, it would have shot him and he could have died. But if he hadn’t come after her she could have ended up being a play thing or a science experiment; either way it was a bad situation. Her eyes brightened when he said something about the past, “Yes, yes please!!” Her voice was filled with excitement as he began to poke and prod at the machine. Had he not told her to hold on, she most likely would have been thrown to the ground. Instead her grip on the handle in front of her tightened and she was able to prevent herself from being trashed about; though it rocked like a rollercoaster. The laughter from the pilot said that this was normal but Olivia was far from complaining.

The jerking of the machine seemed to stop rather suddenly and the blonde stood there wide eyed in surprise as if expecting to hear more of a breaking system then the stop she had received. Blinking a few times, she watched the lanky man run his hand through his puffy hair causing it to be crazy yet fitting for his personality at the same time. Nothing that she was complaining or anything of the sort. His movement towards the door kicked her own feet into motion, though they didn’t seem to want to cooperate with her at the moment. Her trip from the control panel to the ramp was a difficult one but it got better as she regained her barriers and hurried down the ramp and out the door to find…

“Southwark. 1599.” She repeated looking around with brightness in her hazel eyes. Her head whirled to look back at him, blonde hair flying as her eyes settled back on the Doctor, that same intense brightness when she heard Shakespeare. “Shakespeare? I love Shakespeare. It’s a wonderful thought.” She said in a cheesy manor with a matching grin, showing her excitement without going completely bonkers like she could. She had to keep her composure right? At least for the most part.

Dogs barked horses clip clopped around, dung smell filled the air and people chatting and laughing under the starlight. It seemed unreal yet here she was, little Olivia Watson, the college student from the pour broke (and broken) family walking around in 1599 to see a Shakespeare play in action with a time traveling alien. Oh this was one for the record books, or her diary; the diary would be most likely to believe her. “I’d love to linger about. I don’t want to miss a second of this…” Her voice trailed off as he suddenly pulled her out of the way of an emptying chamber pot. “Okay, I stand corrected, I’m glad I missed that.” Another cheeky grin moved across her face as she looked up at him as the two followed the wall as close as they could to avoid any other falling… debris.

It didn’t take long for the two arm and arm to arrive at the Globe Theatre. Olivia’s eyes went wide as she saw it in all of its glory in front of her. “It’s a polygon!” She said excitedly before she felt the need to explain. “There was a large debate in my class about what the actual foundation was. A sketch by Wenceslas Hollar showed the design as a circle. But the sketch was done at a distance and with the sides it could be confused for a solid circle to an untrained eye. The college found some intact foundation that hinted that it would be a larger polygon. The only logical side with the building being about roughly… oh…” Her eyes closed tightly as she wracked her brain, “Probably about 30 meters in length because the higher you sit in the theatre the more important you are. So the higher and ironically, further away you where you showed a higher status in society.”

It was hard for her to explain why she felt the need to babble facts. Maybe it was because he was so intelligent and she wanted to see if her facts were right or maybe, just maybe, it was a sad attempt to impress him. Then again, he’s probably been to this area more than her so he could correct her on what information she had wrong; that’s what learning is about right? Replacing the wrong information with the right information; simple as that.

Olivia found herself giggling at his references, not really things she would have expected but it was nice to see someone she went randomly off with would have a sense of humor much like hers. Then again she was an adult and allowed to do any sort of adult things she’d want to do. But something she would have to keep in mind is that she shouldn’t do anything to make him mad; if he decided to leave her somewhere she… well she would be very stuck. Something in the pit of her stomach told her she wouldn’t have to worry about that too much; something just told her that he and she would be able to get along decently; decently if not well.

Nodding as she looked around, she made sure to acknowledge his correction of information. “A tetrahedron.” She repeated to instill it into her memory. Everyone back at Oxford would think she was crazy; then again most people wouldn’t believe that she’s encountered other species and traveled back in time to see the Globe Theater in its shining glory. Oh yes she’d sound like a crack pot like the people shouting on the corner here in 1599, but she would know the reality of it. Maybe she could find another form of proof about this to back it up in the future that she was from. Maybe, just maybe. Right now all she could do was take in the fact that they were wondering streets that would/could never been seen by someone in her time unless they had a time traveling leader to take them there. As far as she was considered, this was bloody brilliant.

A grin moved across her full red lips, spreading to show her pearly white teeth. “Of course.” She responded to his statement about exploring… or was it in response to trusting him? Who knows, well Olivia knows but she wasn’t going to say which one. Their walk took them through some more streets and people than she would have imagined at this time of night and the area. Then again during this section of history, people didn’t have much of a concept of ‘time’, so maybe… whatever time of day it truly was, wasn’t considered late. Her gaze wondered as he went on talking about the great man and his work they were going to see tonight. Nodding her head they continued on their walk; while she was paying full attention to the Doctor, she was still taking in everything around her, memorizing the looks, smells and sounds of everything. It wasn’t until he mentioned something about food that her stomach began to rumble. “Food sounds brilliant. Aren’t you just full of ideas?” She said playfully as they started towards the muddy little back road.

When he began to sniff, she followed his lead in an attempt to figure out exactly what he was referring to but sadly, she had no luck and decided it was best to follow his lead. “Lead the way.” She said suggestively as they started down the road again. It wasn’t like she’d have much of a say in it anyway. What was she going to suggest? Let’s go bang on everyone’s door until we find something that smells good and ask to be invited to dinner. Nah, letting him drive the ship seemed to be the best option. Plus no one could ever turn down a good pie, especially when it’s made when everything was fresh! It didn’t take long for the sweet aroma to fill Olivia’s nose as they got closer and closer to the destination. Soon echoes of “Mmmmm” left her as he pulled open the door to their establishment of choice. His manors with a flourish of playful gestures made Olivia smile to the point she actually gave a play curtsey in response before entering ahead of him. It was nice to see that ‘gentleman-like-gestures’ didn’t just revolve around ‘man’ but all kinds of… kinds.

It wasn’t long before they found their own perfect ‘hole in the wall’ corner where they could see everything yet not been seen by many, a typical sitting arrangement for Olivia and surprisingly, the Doctor seem to feel the same way. A polite smile moved across her full lips as the bar maid placed two large glasses of ale in front of them and wondered off. Picking up the glass she took a sniff of it. Her noise wrinkled at the scent but it wasn’t in a negative fashion, it was in a ‘this is a new smell’ fashion. Huh, this is going to be interesting. Raising her glass in response to his, she stated her own ending to it. “And a brilliant adventure.” With that they clanked their glasses together in agreement and took a drink. It was warm, which was unexpected and judging by Olivia’s expression, she wasn’t expecting something as worm as she got, even with the realization that her handle wasn’t cold, it still wasn’t expected. “Oooohhhh…” She responded as she pulled the glass away from her mouth after swallowing. Her face scrunching together as if all of her facial features had a sudden magnetic pull towards her nose as her eyes closed and she shook her head left to right sharply for a moment. “Oh, I forgot how much alcohol is in classic drinks.” With that she took another drink, a lot smaller than her last one.

When the bar maid dropped off the food at the table, her hazel eyes went wide in shock. That was a lot of food, a LOT of food. Reaching out, she picked up the butcher knife that came with the slab of meat and began to cut herself off smaller pieces. It was stunning to see them just hand over such a knife to people but this was a different time and place. After placing a couples pieces of the meat onto her plate she took up a piece of the bread and took a bite with pleasure. It was delicious! Incredible really and the look on her face said it all. Though following his gaze to see the apples and pears being cut on the dirty bar table didn't sit to well with her and it, in fact, made her make a self note not to eat any of the fruits in the bar. They may not have chemicals in their food but at least they knew of a thing called a cutting board.

Her attention was suddenly pulled back to the Doctor was he asked her one question... Than another... And another... And another....a few more, wow. Her eyes went wide as she attempted not to laugh through her bite of bread as he apologized. A small shake of her head and a wave of her hand was the best she could get out that it was okay before swallowing. "It's quite alright Doctor, I too am someone full of countless questions and have a habit of spitting them all out at once." With that she continued into answering his questions. "My life isn't all that amazing; school, my little loft, studying and sleep. That's normally it. If I have free time that isn't held up by sleep I like to do more studying. I have this unexplainable drive to learn." Her voice seemed to turn more passionate as she spoke. "I believe everything and everyone has something to teach and it's your choice whether your want to learn or not." A small shrug lifted her shoulders as she finished off the bread and swallowed, "I also think it's important to learn from the past but not get stuck in it. You're supposed to take the lessons of the past and apply them to make a better future." Another shrug lifted her shoulders, "at least that's how I feel."

The mention of her family caused her to break her gaze from the Doctor and look out to the empty pub that had wondered into. "My family isn't my favorite topic, I don't come from the best of homes." A small sigh left her ass he turned her gaze slowly back to him, "I love them like everyone loves their family but, I'm happy tone out and proud to have gotten accepted to Oxford. As for pears..." She began, her face lightening and her tone changing at the change of topic. "I'm not a fan of them, pears or green beans." She stuck out her tongue and shook her head. "Yuck to both." A small laughed escaped her, "No pets and the only thing I'm allergic to is..." She leaned forward towards him, as if it was supposed to be a secret, "morons." A small playful giggle escaped her as she leaned back in her seat and smiled at him was her hands picked up a piece of meat.

"Your life must be more interesting then mine." She began before she dove into her questions. "Is a time machine common among your people? Is it for everyone or is it a right-of-passage item? What's your home planet like? Is it different from earth? What was your first experience visiting earth? Did it come to be what you expected? Do you visit earth often? What's your favorite time period? Can I buy something while we're here? Or is that a bad thing to do? Oh poo I don't have any money from this time period." In order to get herself to shut up, she shoved a piece of the meat in her mouth before chewing and swallowing. "I'm sorry, it's not often that I sit with an interesting alien in 1599 England eating a slab of meat cheese and bread in a pub before going to see a Shakespeare play. I'm sorry I'm babbling."

He was glad to have her agree to get a bite to eat. It was around the time most would be having supper. Once they seated and began to feast on their food, he couldn't help but sling a slew of questions toward her in hopes they could find some middle ground. It wasn't hard for him to find connections to those he met though. He had come across so many people from so many walks of life and yet he couldn't help but remember his own kind, killed, and he was alone because he ran off. And so that's what he kept doing, running. Running and traveling, refusing to look back. he secretly hoped that the more he traveled around, the more people he met, that his past would fade away. Sadly he knew time didn't really work like that. His memories and actions had happened and couldn't be changed. Thankfully, Olivia was fine to talk about bits of herself, what she did aside from study but it sounded like that was a hobby of hers, studying and otherwise taking information like a sponge.

"Oh, that's brilliant." He smiled to her. "You're absolutely right but you can't forget to have a little fun." He reminded her. There could be worlds inside books to get lost in but real life was always better than fantasy. Of course that was easy for him to conclude, his life was likely someone's fantasy, traveling trouble time and space. The Doctor nodded to the woman in front of him as she continued to talk about herself and then moved to her family backstory. A wave of sadness overtook her and he found her hearts going out to her. But she seemed like one of those people who didn't let such things bring them down, didn't give up or waste time with regrets. She had some great insight for someone so young. His face brightened once more as hers did, when she mentioned her dislike for green beans and pears. She then said she hadn't any pets and that she was only allergic to morons. He grinned at that and took another drink from his cup. "Not everyone is as clever as we are, I'm afraid." He told her. "Of course some people can be educated but others...refuse to be it seems..."

Now it seemed she was ready to fire some of her own questions and he straightened up in his seat, ready to answer whatever she wanted to know. Sadly, her biggest curiosity stemmed from his home planet of Gallifrey. He glanced down for a moment but then looked back to Olivia. "I'm a Time Lord," he explained. "I'm from the planet Gallifrey and as a Time Lord, we do time machines, at a certain point though technically I did steal mine, that's a long story there though." He waved his hand. "It's a beautiful planet, describing it wouldn't do it proper justice, it's something you'd have to see first hand." He said in awe though his voice tapered off. "But it's gone, destroyed...leaving me the sole Time Lord left." He said to her. He was quick to just carry on with her other range of questions. "My first experience coming to Earth? It's been so long I honestly can't remember. I am over 900 years old after all." He laughed a little. "I have a wee bit of a soft spot for you earthlings, so I try to pop in often to make sure no one's giving you lot any trouble." He nodded.

"You could get something from here but...you'd have to be careful. Taking items from different eras can be tricky and you have a habit of meddling." He smiled at her. "How about we get you something from someplace else." He suggested to her, not too sure that anything would really be interesting in their current situation. "There are plenty of other places to see, things to fiddle with. You love fiddling." He teased her. "And nonsense, babble all you want. Then we can just be two babbling explorers." He smiled. As a crowd walked into the bar, a few snippets caught his attention, some talking about how there would be a Love's Labor Won the following night. "That's weird..." The Doctor's face fell and he looked back to Olivia. "I've heard rumors about his lost play but no one is sure what happened to it..." And he was certain something was afoot. Why not check it out? "How about we find good ol' Shakespeare and see what he's got in mind for his sequel?" He asked Olivia and stood up, offering his arm to her once again. Unlike Olivia's modern day, famous people weren't hard to track down and have a chat with, so he was sure they could see what was going on inside the genius' head.

Being flattered by someone who seemed as intelligent as the Doctor was did cause Olivia’s cheeks to turn a small shade of pink, even in the dim light of the pub they had found to eat at. It’s not very often that she gets called clever. Her parents never gave her the time of day and her professors only knew her name by what was on her papers not by which she was as an individual. But here was someone who knew so much and yet would make reference to her being as clever as him. Though she questioned the possibility of that even being remotely true, she was still flattered that he would even say something like that to her.

When he started to talk about himself, Olivia leaned forward listening closely to his responses. When his voice tapered off, however, her heart sunk in her chest as he started to speak about his sorrows. She thought she had it hard, in fact she knew she didn’t have it as easy as most people did, but she couldn’t imagine being the only person left from their species. Even the thought of being the only person in Britain scared her if something was to explode and she would be left alone. The poor man; it’s a fate worth than death… to be alone forever But as far as Olivia was concerned, he wouldn’t be alone. At least for as long as she had her say in it. She did laugh a little when he mentioned his age and said that he had a soft spot for humans, or ‘earthlings’. Lifting up the large mug that was given to her to hold the alcohol she smiled behind it, “Well if it makes any difference you look good for over 900 years old.” With that she took a swing before putting the mug down and shaking her head. “Whoa, I still can’t get over how strong that is. It’s good, just strong compared to what we normally have.”

Listening closely to him about getting something from that era, it was true. Certain things taken could highly effect the future… at least that would be an educated guest and as he mentioned to her that she had a habit of meddling, she gave him a cheesy side grin, playful yet understanding. He was picking on her and being serious at the same time. She wasn’t exactly somewhere she should be trying to play with things and tinker but that didn’t mean she wasn’t going to touch a few things. But, what could he say; considering meeting her wasn’t the first time he had visited earth, he might have a habit of meddling as well. It turns out her thought pattern was confirmed when he overheard people talk about Shakespeare’s famous lost pay Love’s Labor Won. Her attention followed his as the two listened closely then they pulled their attention back to one another. A smile moved across her face as she stood up and took his arm. “I think I’m rubbing off on you already. It seems we will be meddling in the business of Mister William Shakespeare himself.” A smirk curled up the corner of her full lips as she laced her arm through his and they kicked off into gear. “Let us go meddle in the mind of one of the greatest play writes of all time.”

It didn’t take long for the two of them to find their way to the location that William Shakespeare was staying at. Confusion moved across her face as the Doctor flashed a blank piece of paper to people and they began to let them in. Still, poor Olivia was internally shocked to be walking through such an old building in such ‘new’ condition for its time. Her free hand gently slid along the wall to her right. Though she could have looked like a bit of a loon touching the walls, she kept her expression simple with a soft closed mouth smile and gentle facial features and no one paid her any mind though she was ecstatic to even touch the walls. They followed a maid that took them to a door and pushed it open. There, there sat the great man himself, surrounded by people who looked like actors. Confusion filled the room as the actors seem to be having a talk with the writer about why he announced the play for tomorrow night instead of a week that they had discussed.

The conversation was cut short by the presence of Olivia and the Doctor arriving in the room. The attention seemed to be mainly on her and she felt her face turn a small shade of pink as the legendary figure seemed to recognize her out of the group. “You,” He said, his voice was deep as he gestured to her. “You are beautiful.” His figure leaned over the time as the group of actors departed without a word, though Olivia probably would have found it just as interesting to watch the actors leave; she was too hypnotized by the fact that one of history’s greatest minds was staring her in the face and had just complemented her. “You are like exquisite angel fresh from the gates of heaven. But… you wear such interesting fabric. Where, pray tell, are you from?” For the first time in Olivia’s life, she was speechless, literally.
