"Father is still away at his post in the mountains. There was a mudslide and he's running late returning home. Mother went on ahead to meet up with him to make sure he was alright."

"I am often alone. I have no siblings. Only pup, I'm afraid."

"The edge of town. You know, the area where there aren't too many streetlamps or anything? My father loves the dark for some reason. It was why he was so willing to go when he was sent out to the mountains."
