I learned it as when you call someone that, you are calling them an ugly, vain attention-seeker. But, I do live in America and our words get different meanings every other day.

I can see that... around here camwhoring can mean anything from taking selfies to being a professional photographer. Calling someone an anything-whore means they're skilled at it XD

In my mind, cam-whore doesn't mean ugly. And it doesn't necessarily mean vain or attention-seeking. It just means a person who takes a lot of photos of his/herself and posts them in this thread.
