Pretty self-explanatory, this is a holding cell... storage for accepted profiles so basically I as GM don't have to go digging for profiles I've accepted between miles and miles of OOC chatter. So... profiles coming soon to a post near you or something.

Bruce Wayne / The Batman

| Origin & Backstory |

The Wayne Family

The Wayne family’s occupation in Gotham can be traced back to Nathaniel Wayne who was a small time merchant and professional witch-hunter who operated under his middle name, Malleus to avoid endangering the Wayne name. Whispers during these witch-hunting trials later haunted Nathaniel as he believed himself to be cursed by the horrible deeds he had done. But it wasn’t until the Revolutionary War for the Wayne family to become a true enterprise. As importers of trade goods, the Waynes become central to a conflict between the British Empire and the thirteen colonies of New England. The Wayne brothers Anthony and Darius were split on the issue when it came to war but ultimately agreed when they saw the brutality of the British Empire: it was here where they discovered a Lenape cavern called Takhwìkàmën which they used to mount a safe place to strategize against the British. This would be the future site of the Batcave. After the war ended in their favor the Wayne brothers were granted the plot of land that was placed above and near Takhwìkàmën and Wayne Manor was born.

Takhwìkàmën was a prospect of the Wayne resistance once again when Joshua Wayne used the cave as a way to lead the slaves to the north; part of an underground railroad. He came at odds when his brother, Solomon found out—who happened to be a maker and enforcer of law. Joshua and Solomon got into an argument and a gun went off killing Joshua Wayne in the process. Solomon never speaks of this and lives outside of Wayne Manor for some time due to the reminder of his brother. He swears to his brother’s grave to redeem himself while he looks down on him from heaven. Solomon’s son Alan took hold of the business opportunities during the industrial revolution and founded a Chemicals & Hazards department to the Wayne shipping company—thus starting its day as an Enterprise. The son of Alan Wayne, Phillip, serves in the Spanish-American war during this time and is killed; he bears no children.

The family from there has a varied history with business and development; always keeping in mind of the lessons taught by their ancestors.

Early Life

Bruce Wayne was the heir to two distinct people of Gotham City, New Jersey – Thomas Wayne and Martha Kane. Wayne was an ethical businessman and proprietor of Wayne Enterprises, a company that was in a constant battle for dominance against Queen Industries. Thomas Wayne had no interest in a corporate war when the city of Gotham continued to dive into corruption, anarchy, and filth; making it his mission in life to give as much as he took, the businessman founded the Wayne Foundation. The Wayne Foundation was Thomas’ sub-organization that handled charities around the poverty-stricken and those who needed rehabilitation – it was here where Paul Quinzel, Alfred Pennyworth, and Martha Kane met Thomas. The four became quick friends and together with their places in Gotham society strived to make it better. Thomas Wayne would end up marrying Martha within the next three years of meeting her.

Bruce Wayne for the most part had a good and privileged childhood, although on a vacation to oceania an incident with a group of bats terrified the young boy for quite some time – something he would never forget through his life experiences. However, tragedy hit the Wayne family when Bruce witnessed the murder of his parents at the hands of Cyrus Gold and Joe Chill; the two staging the “robbery” to put an end to Thomas Wayne’s invasive mission to clear Gotham of poverty & crime. Bruce was left there only as the appearance of a rookie police officer named Harvey Bullock arrived on the scene. This would be the makings of Bruce Wayne as he is today. With Thomas & Martha Wayne dead, Bruce Wayne had few options and during the reading of Thomas Wayne’s Last Will and Testament he discovered the Wayne Estate in a surprising move would not be left to the Kane family of which Bruce had been connected to through his mother but rather Alfred Pennyworth. A security contractor for Wayne Enterprises and several other companies; Alfred had since his initial meeting of Thomas Wayne gone from the best in 20th century security to a socialite and this sealed the deal. Alfred’s friendship with Thomas led to his acquisition of Wayne Manor and the guardianship of young Bruce Wayne. This Will of Thomas Wayne infuriated Martha Wayne’s brother Jacob Kane; and splintered the family even more—a thing that a young Bruce Wayne did not need.

Bruce’s friendship with his cousins Katherine and Elizabeth grew distant and when Bruce became more aggressive and detached with every year until he was eventually sent to military school; specifically the Samuel Lane Military Academy for Youths. This is where Bruce Wayne met Lane’s daughter, Lois Lane; and learned his discipline that he would later learn to centralize in his mission as Batman. At the age of eighteen, Bruce opted out of the academic school despite what it had taught him for a more personal goal: prepare himself for his war on crime. With the discipline he had received at the military school he now realized to center himself on a goal. Bruce Wayne used his college fund his parents had left him (one out of two trust funds) to study criminology, psychology, and business—testing out of each course when he absorbed the knowledge needed. It was around this time that Edward Nashton became the majority shareholder of Wayne Enterprises when Lucius Fox bowed out of the company to start his own after meeting investor, Jack Drake. After his formal education ended Bruce then looked to the east; and he left for the eastern hemisphere to learn pursuits of the body.

Bruce traveled the world learning from a variety of men and women in his pursuit to obtain the skills to become a spirit of justice on Gotham City. This inspiration never teetered but it didn’t take until Bruce Wayne met the one man that would change his life: David Cain – Cain found Bruce on one of his missions to discipline himself but after a run-in with criminal individuals in Bangkok it triggered something in the self-destructive (but skilled) Bruce Wayne. Bruce was at the end of his ropes as he found himself being tortured after weeks of attacking drug lords in Bangkok. That was when he was found by David Cain, a man who had actually been sent to destroy the cartels himself as a member of the League of Shadows. He took Bruce in as a potential candidate before the leader of the group that at the time ran its organization out of Bialya: Henri Ducard.

What happened between meeting Henri Ducard and leaving the League of Shadows was complex as Bruce was groomed to be one of the society’s top operatives. That was until Talia Ducard died on a mission in Qurac and the impending result was in a induced state of grief Henri went insane as he re-stylized himself as Ra’s al Ghul; the Demon’s Head, and Bruce found himself unwilling to follow the same self-destruction he once felt inside especially after Ra’s repurposed his society into one of violent discord rather than patient dissent. Bruce did not leave however until he discovered through the history of the guild that The League of Shadows itself had been responsible for the death of his parents and all of his recruitment was all patiently planned. But Bruce did not act out in a burst of rage; but a sense of clarity and resolve. Burning all of his bridges he completely abandoned the League of Shadows—and looked back… back to Gotham. He had seen evil and it had manipulated him- he knew how to face it and now it was time to start his mission against the thralls of evil and the darkness it utilized to corrupt his home.

Origin: The Bat's Crusade

Returning home was simple enough as Alfred welcomed him back with open arms as the press began to chatter about the return of Gotham’s prodigal son. Wayne then looked to his father’s legacy; the Wayne Foundation as his public responsibility. However, in the darkness Wayne knew he had more power than what a charity and welfare program could do and took to the streets with a ski-mask and his bare hands. His first few weeks of vigilante justice came through the event of several near-death scenarios and wondered what he was doing wrong. A documentary that Alfred was watching as he came back home about bats triggered the memory and Wayne had an answer – looking to the television serials he watched as a kid he begins to become Batman. After speaking to Lucius Fox, a former Wayne Enterprises R&D specialist and founder of the technological advancement firm called FoxTech; everything changed.

The Dark Knight – The Batman debuted and worked feverously against the crime families of Gotham and soon anyone else. This began Bruce Wayne’s triple life as Batman, Bruce Wayne, and Matches Malone. Bruce begins to date Julie Madison some time during this first year. In time, a group of people (Detective Helena Bertenelli, Lieutenant James Gordon, and the lawyer team of Harvey Dent & Julia Pennyworth); become vital assets in the start of Bruce’s quest to clean up Gotham City as the corrupt members of legal society begin to be pushed out. The Roman Empire begins to lose its hold on Gotham as Carmine Falcone is sentenced in prison and Gotham’s criminal underworld falls apart as several crime families and syndicates fight for the Roman Empire’s lost territory and strength. This war is not without it's casualties as Harvey Dent's wife; Gilda Dent is killed by Roman mobsters. This has a detrimental effect on DA Harvey Dent, but he attempts to power through as he tries to rebuild Gotham as best as he can as he wants to raise his daughter in a Gotham free of chaos and determined by order.

It was then that familiar enemies struck close to home as it came to Bruce’s ear that the League of Shadows were planning something “grand” and he begins an investigation that leads him to team up with Superman and Wonder Woman to prevent what would have become a cataclysmic war between Communist China and the United States. Circumstantial evidence also links LexCorp into the mix, but Bruce finds it inconclusive. And then the creation of the Justice League came after a world-threatening show of force by the alien Starro only months later. After this event this inspired Bruce to create the artificial information satellite that he named “ORACLE” which tied into his main computer in his ambiguous batcave hidden deep underneath Wayne Manor. This would help him spot planetary threats and assist the justice league even more as well as keep an eye on critical scenarios.

Rise of Supervillains

In his second year, this brings a new conflict when criminals and psychopaths begin to enter the woodwork as The Batman becomes a staple of Gotham City. The first of which enters at the end of this debut year for the Batman: The Joker. Working against the clock to prevent the Joker’s plot against Gotham he begins a constant relationship that he would soon begin to despise. The Joker escapes into the darkness of the cold winter night during this New Year's Eve creating Batman’s first real failure. In the crossfires of this event is a boy named Richard Grayson—a boy that Bruce feels sympathy for and is the first of his wards.

Days later, Bruce headed off to nearby Bludhaven to investigate a lead that the League of Shadows was at it again; this time trying to coerce a civil war between the entire city and its largest criminal force—an extremely organized biker gang named for their crimson helmets; the Red Hood gang. Batman needs to work with the Bludhaven vigilante, The Tarantula, to defuse the situation and restore peace to the city. At the end of the encounter Willis Todd, the leader of the gang is sent to prison—leaving an angry adolescent named Jason Todd in the aftermath; he is shipped away to the horrid Bludhaven foster care system as his father rots in prison. The remains of the Red Hood gang splinters and is ultimately conquered by opposing gangs.

Bruce returns to Gotham and fights the psychopathic Niccolai Tepes; who reveals his intentions with Gotham as he believes himself to be a “vampire” and fashions himself as what the Gotham Gazette refers to as “The Monk”. It begins a race against time as The Monk announces his next target: Zatanna Zatara—a young woman that he believes is tied into mystical power. As Batman, he stops Tepes from killing the girl and debilitates him until the police arrive. Following Tepes, Batman then has to deal with Dr. Karl Hellfern’s plot weeks later to use an experimental poison to extort money from the Gotham City high society with the help of his assistant. Julie Madison is poisoned during the investigation and soon the shadow of the bat is upon Hellfern’s doorstep and the work of the Batman continues to spread as the Gotham Gazette continues to glorify the vigilante as he protects the city from another supervillain.

In mid-to-late february, Bruce's ward: Dick Grayson discovers he is the Dark Knight; he discovers he is the Batman. Soon afterward, Bruce discovers during a operation that his father's company's is being used to support criminal cartels active in Gotham City and Bludhaven. This becomes a breaking point for Bruce to truly become public again; he begins an active role in Wayne Enterprises.

Adrian Nicholas Wentworth, a gotham city police officer has a mental breakdown where he becomes what the press calls “Sick Nick” as Batman races to stop his reign of terror as a serial killer and rapist—luring his victims and their families into a false sense of security with his skills as a police officer (and uniform). He targets teenage girls of high society. Marcie Cooper becomes scarred by Wentworth when he kills her parents in front of her only to be saved by the Batman at the last second. Bruce ultimately wishes he could have been faster- to stop the murder of her parents.

Guardianship of Harley Quinzel

Tragedy struck hard to Paul Quinzel, a close family friend when he was struck down after picking up his young daughter— Harleen Quinzel one fateful day in early summer. Harleen had been spending time with her friend, Pamela Isley, until her father got off of work which she had been doing since her mother’s death several years prior. A car accident happens a few cars ahead of them as a man walks up to their car in the confusion—two gunshots pierce the sound as Harleen’s father is left for dead; the second gunshot ending up not killing Harleen herself. The crime resonates with the chaos of Gotham and Harleen feels truly alone. Alfred and Bruce recollect on the Quinzel family and how much they met to Bruce’s father; this creating a mental belief in Bruce that if his father is watching that he needed to protect the young girl especially since her loss was mired in the same horrors as his own. Bruce adopts Harleen as his ward. Sometime afterward, a string of murders hit the news as the production of “The Terror”, an adaption of the horror novel by Basil Karlo comes to a steering halt and it becomes another race against time for Batman as scriptwriters and actors are targeted. Most of the cast including the lead actress, Rita Farr, find themselves thankful as it turns out that none other than Basil Karlo was responsible for the murders after he was shown how they were rewriting his successful novel.

A month had passed since the Karlo incident and Bruce could see in every step that Harleen made that she was much like he was—her obsession and distaste for the city had exploded in a tiny moment and the only thing that seemed to keep her comforted was that The Batman was out there doing the city good. Afraid of what would follow next Bruce took a precaution through his own gut feeling and began to train Harleen in his own brand of self-defense that he had created through his years of martial arts instruction all over the world. Eventually through this he sat the aggressive wounded girl down and she became the first person after Alfred and Richard to reveal his identity to—his identity of Batman. The training continued, moving from martial arts to bettering her perception and investigational skills as he prepared her for something that didn’t occur him until it was too late to step back – he was creating a shadow of himself; another masked vigilante.

When Alfred confronts him with this it leads into an argument that ends poorly as Alfred and Bruce came to a bitter standstill until the two wards speak for themselves; breaking up the fight and defusing the entire conflict. Despite this Alfred begins to start perhaps thinking Bruce’s obsession is going over certain boundaries he can’t approve of. In spite of this he still continues to support Bruce as The Batman, even with the tampering and training of the young Harleen and Richard.

Not too long after this event, Floyd Lawton a.k.a Deadshot assassinates Olivia Ortega (who was warning of the future war of the government and vigilantes) on the orders of the League of Shadows during a Robinson Park rally spurring a riot. Believing the government responsible the riot becomes violent. When Deadshot marks his second target; Detective Helena Bertenelli to incite chaos due to his contract he is stopped by the Batman and apprehended by the police with the riot defusing despite causing massive damage to Robinson Park during the month of September.

After discovering Edward Nashton is responsible for the criminal activities of Wayne Enterprises Bruce puts forward effort to bring Nashton down after securing the safety of his company. In the following weeks Nashton's luck goes south as his own business firm suffers a strike by Batman and then the police. Nashton is to be sentenced to prison. This event becomes a catalyst as Stephanie Nashton, Edward's teenaged daughter becomes obsessed with who Batman is. Shortly afterward, during the Halloween weekend a new supervillain debuts: Black Mask. Starting up a criminal empire seemingly overnight he begins to absorb weaker cartels into his criminal society in the greater Bludhaven-Gotham area.

As Batman begins to prepare to introduced Batgirl and Robin into his arsenal of weapons against crime Bruce finds himself surrounded by high priority crime—a ring of bank robberies under the guise of arson sweep Gotham financially off its feet, an anarchist murders Mayor Wilson Klass due to his apparent complacency against the crime of the city, and Stagg Enterprises finds itself under siege by a former employee by the alias of “Freeze”. In the middle of all of these events, Harley’s impatience leads her to get caught in the middle of crime before Bruce can properly introduce her to the concept beyond training—Bruce rushes to her aid and is admittedly a little impressed despite his disapproval of her doing it without his authority—Batgirl and Robin are ready. It is then that Batman, Batgirl, & Robin work around the clock to defeat Anarky, Firefly, and Freeze as well as several organized crime fronts that attempt to take the year early in the first week of January. Bruce considers this “sidekick front” as a “great success”.

The highly publicized homicide case of Mayor Wilson Klass hits the news and the butterfly effect comes reeling as the two politicians (Oswald Cobblepot and Jean-Paul Valley, Jr.) voice their concern and begin campaigning early to help push themselves into the seat of power. Until the election, Alderman Charles Chesterfield reigns as mayor incumbent of Gotham. Throughout the year it seems Valley is taking the conservative vote and Cobblepot the liberal vote—proving the election in the future will be a difficult one for either.

In late October, the “Circus of Strange” rolls into Gotham City at the Haly Fairgrounds—The Joker “re-emerges” with accomplices Killer Croc and The Ventriloquist setting the stage to facilitate murder and mayhem. This becomes Robin’s most difficult and most personal fight yet. The Joker, Killer Croc, and The Ventriloquist are later captured and sent off to Arkham Asylum’s criminal wing after many injuries and casualties.

On Christmas Day, the body of a politician is found nailed to the cross at the largest cathedral in Gotham with little evidence pointing to why or who outside of a catholic card depicting the angel called Azrael. Bruce attempts to decode the religious assassination but wonders who could be responsible for such a grizzly crime.

| Character Notes |

Individuals:

The Joker – Representing the chaos of Gotham, The Joker represents Batman’s greatest failure when he attacked Gotham on New Year’s Day of 2012. Many families were thrown into the chaos of desperation, suffering, and tragedy due to madman’s plot and one of which that the Batman never solved as the bringer of chaos disappeared without a trace letting Batman dwell on his failure.

Ra’s al Ghul – Known to Batman as Henri Ducard, a former private investigator who became the head of the League of Shadows sometime during the early nineteen eighties. After his daughter’s death during Batman’s initiatehood with the order he became maddened and in a fit of melancholy sacrificed himself to the Lazerus Pit. Repurposing the League of Shadows into a loud chess piece of world destruction, Ra’s is committed to become an enemy of his former protégé, The Batman. He is responsible for dissent in Bludhaven, Communist China, and much more.

Katherine Kane - Bruce's cousin through his mother's older brother, Jacob Kane, she is in the military.

Bette Kane - Bruce's cousin through his mother's younger brother, Phillip Kane, she is a teenager.

David Cain – The man who trained Batman and an operative of the League of Shadows. Cain is as cunning as he is hard willed. He believes in nothing but success and will work forward to that goal despite the odds which makes him a very determined villain for Batman.

Harvey Dent – The district attorney of Gotham City and husband of the late Gilda Dent, a legal aide. Dent works hard with his ADA, Julia Pennyworth, but since the Roman Empire put a hit on his wife as a form of fear his psyche has begun to fail. Between the murder and the events of The Joker’s debut he has seen the chaos of the world and realizes one certain thing: you live or you die. It is uncertain if this will turn him into a man with two faces or not at this point in time.

Professor Crane – A professor of psychology that teaches at the University of Gotham, Crane is known for his unorthodox experiments and liberal studies of the concept of fear. He is certainly no “Scarecrow” yet, but with his partnership with Ace Chemicals as an exclusive property to his next experimental study… the future for him does not look well.

Edward Nashton – A former majority shareholder of Wayne Enterprises until it was discovered that the over analytical genius was using his pull in Wayne Enterprises to support a budding criminal motif. In the end the Batman revealed to Detective Helena Bertenelli that Nashton was fronting a massive money laundering scheme and following a police raid Nashton found himself in Stonegate Penitentiary. It is unsure if he’s going to become the Riddler or not.

Stephanie Nashton – Not the only Nashton struck by the arrest, Edward’s fourteen year old daughter, a math genius with a high IQ started asking questions to herself about how convenient it was for the police to bring down her father. Believing The Batman to have framed her father she began to become obsessive in discovering the identity of anything or anyone connected to the illusive vigilante. It was truly an enigma that had to be solved.

Sensei – The illusive leader of the League of Assassins and the primary broker of “the best assassins in the world” has yet to debut in Gotham, but he is a rumored rival and colleague of Henri Ducard as per the League of Shadows archives that Batman had once read. The Sensei is described as a quiet mastermind of asian descent.

Black Mask – The newest criminal mastermind of the Gotham-Bludhaven area, Black Mask controls the False Face Syndicate; a drug cartel that is muscling in on the weakened Red Hood Gang, the aggressive Blockbuster Gang, and even the Gotham Crime Families. Secretly Roman Sionis of Sionis Industries, a childhood friend of one Bruce Wayne. To keep out of the Bat’s sight Black Mask attempts to do most of his business out of downtown Bludhaven… for now.

Red Hood – Willis Todd formerly ran the Red Hood Gang out of Bludhaven until the teamwork of The Tarantula and The Batman put him in prison as his gang slowly fell apart, leaving his son Jason to the streets without any guidance. Willis is bitter and ready to be more proactive when and if he ever gets out of Blackgate Prison.

Clayface – Also known as Basil Karlo, an acclaimed horror novelist who tried to stop the film production of his novel, “The Terror” but was ultimately stopped by The Batman. He is currently residing in Blackgate Prison for first degree murder.

Harlequin – The Joker inspired criminal has yet to debut, but Marcie Cooper might just be one of many to envy The Joker’s madness.

Hugo Strange – Currently the Director of Psychology at Arkham Asylum, there are no hints of Hugo’s criminal mind.

Firefly – A former mob cleaner named Garfield Lynns transformed into "Firefly".

Groups:

The Falcones – Nicknamed “The Roman Empire” the Falcone crime family at one point was the strongest syndicate of crime dating back to Prohibition in the 1930s. Carmine Falcone served as the boss of the family until his imprisonment to Blackgate Prison. Currently Mario Falcone runs the family with Tony Zucco.

The Mandragoras – Nicknamed “The Great White” the Mandragora crime family is as ruthless as it is senseless. Defeating the Bertenelli’s in the 1990s granted the boss of the family, Stefano Mandragora a lot of leeway in the Bludhaven and Gotham game.

The Dimitrovs – Nicknamed “The Slavs” the Dimitrovs are Russians, Serbians, Poles, and Hungarians with a taste for blood. Masters of “information gathering” these eastern thugs moved into Gotham around 2004 and have stayed as a pretty intimidating force.

The Valestras – Nicknamed “The Sicilians” the Valestras are like a smaller more rabid version of The Falcones and actually served them as a co-family until Carmine Falcone was arrested and they started an independent streak once more. They are currently at war with the Falcones and are lead by Salvatore Valestra with consultation by their hitter; Carlton Duquesne.

The Blockbuster Gang – Led by Roland Desmond, the Blockbuster Gang is Bludhaven’s most aggressive gang. Once equal rivals to The Red Hood Gang, they are now the most powerful force in Bludhaven despite The False Face Syndicates ruthless takeover.

The Red Hood Gang – Once owning the Bludhaven crime game, The Red Hood Gang fell apart after The Batman and The Tarantula teamed up to put a stop to Willis Todd’s uniting of all of the motorcycle gangs and his war on the police department. Now led by Thaddeus Ryerstad, the gang is in a bad place but it’s still breathing.

| Powers & Abilities |

Peak Human Conditioning: Through intense training, specialized diet, and biofeedback treatments, Batman represents the pinnacle of human physical prowess.

Martial Arts: Bruce is well trained in multiple martial arts, the core of his fighting method include jujitsu, aikido, boxing, karate, ninjitsu, boxing, and krav maga.

Stealth: His Ninjutsu training has made him a master at stealth and capable of breaching high security facilities without being detected.

Genius Level Intellect: Batman is a brilliant, virtually peerless, detective, strategist, scientist, tactician, and commander; he is widely regarded as one of the keenest analytical minds on the planet. Given his lack of superpowers, he often uses cunning and planning to outwit his foes, rather than simply "out-fighting" them.

Disguise: Has mastered the art of disguise. Batman has many aliases he uses to infiltrate the underworld or just to go undercover in public situations though the most notable identity is that of Matches Malone.

| How is this character different? |

Honestly, it has elements of previous Ultimate incarnations (Henri Ducard, Talia’s death, The Monk), as well as what I tried to do in Maximum DC before it ultimately failed. This Batman’s differences mostly sit with the supporting NPC cast such as Detective Helena Bertenelli, Julia Pennyworth, Edward Nashton, Harleen Quinzel, and the like. The intention of Ultimate Gotham is to really diversify and keep nods to several incarnations of the setting and its characters. I’m pulling ideas from Batman: The Animated Series, The Nolan Films, The Burton Films, The Animated Films, and the Comics I’ve re-familiarized myself with (pre-crisis, post-crisis, new 52).

| What is your goal with this character? |

Well, a lot of our previous Batman players are pretty much missing in action and I’d hate to put up an application without Eddie being around to understand we are rebooting, but as Maximum showed is that I can play Batman with enough inspiration and variety to keep it interesting and experienced. I strive to work with legacy characters and other contenders to make an enjoyable Gotham scene.

To add on to that, honestly, I can be active fairly often, and I’m a general team player. I can provide a competent and active Batfamily with conflicts that isn’t just him thwoping the Joker. There’s going to be plenty Bruce Wayne as much as there is The Batman and his dynamic with his supporting cast is something I can provide that will be different from previous incarnations by Byrd in World of Heroes and MB in Ultimate DC and Singular Universe. I constantly research, make links, communicate, as well as set aside time DAILY to decide what I’m doing with my next post, and read the backlogs of the entirety of the superherohype run as the most immersed player that debuted in 2013. I can tell you one thing: nobody is going to these lengths.

I will go at great lengths to make sure this Batman doesn’t disappear in a month and we have a missing Justice League member on our roster. I will refuse to slip up.

THE DIMITROV JOB

It was finished—the replacement module to the motorcycle I’ve been using had finally all come together and I’m rather content with what it appears to be. I glance over to Alfred as I began to explain the vehicle before each of us in the hangar of the Batcave.

“This is something I’ve needed since the very beginning of my mission. It’s all but indestructible, operates on a jet turbine engine and has night-vision head-lamps so it can run in total darkness.”

To call this development of technology special would be what I’d refer to as an understatement and I believe that as I speak to Alfred, who in the last few months has changed much from the old family friend that helped me to become who I am today. It is a surprise how Alfred has helped me this past year; all with a soft smile. But I suppose it all ties back into on my father’s request that was written in the will, but the lengths he has gone and the secrets he is going to have to keep make me wonder about the lengths. Alfred was my guardian and now he is my closest friend—and that is worth something to me. However, there are many questions going on in my head about Alfred; mostly due to the inexplicable way I can’t read his emotions like I can anybody else—in a way it’s irritating but also intimidating. What had Alfred seen and done before he came to Gotham to be so?

"It’s an impressive piece of technology.”

I’m sure Alfred is more impressed that this piece of technology was created in secret with no traces back to the name of Bruce Wayne. It’s amazing what you can do with discretion and a little edge with Lucius Fox, a man who used to work for my father and like Alfred showed me something about aged loyalty.

I cross my arms as I sit there in the cowl, staring carefully at the vehicle for a moment before answering Alfred’s compliment.

“Indeed.” My voice is cold as I approach the vehicle. I have no time to test it; an informant has given me vital intelligence that Yuri Dimitrov, an enemy of “The Roman Empire” is making his move on a large freight shipment from Ace Chemicals. If I let any mobster get a hold on that supply innocents will be harmed and I cannot allow that; not now and not ever.

“Drive safe, Bruce.”

I nod as I enter the batmobile—with this I can cut off the freight shipment and make an ambush for Dimitrov and anyone else that knows about this shipment of government grade chemicals. It was a good investment—and it’s certainly faster than anything else I have in my arsenal. Thinking back to the whole issue with the Justice League and Starro a thought comes to me as I blast out of the batcave: one of these with wings would be rather handy. I make a note to myself to take up flight lessons and investigate the issue later.

It seems like I’m operating at lightspeed through the dark and seemingly abandoned streets—sliding around what little traffic there is at this hour. Ace Chemicals is on the entirely other side of Gotham—about an hour and a half from the batcave—yet when I arrive at the chemical warehouse and processing plant I arrive in less than half of the time. I’m impressed to see it at work, I really am—but I can’t be grinning over my mode of transportation while counteracting criminals.

The cockpit of the vehicle slides open as I carefully make sure it’s succumbed in the darkness where few would notice it and prepare my body for what I’m about to do. I move quickly, using my grappling device to get to a quality vantage point—prepared to spot the ambush and the freight that is to be put in transit in due time. When these Russian gangsters decide to reveal themselves they will be in for the worst night of their lives—I won’t go easy on them. I’m prepared and patient.

In this time I tap into the ORACLE network.

“Command: Detect suspicious activity near Ace Chemicals 12, Gotham City—New Jersey.”[/SIZE] I whisper as the information gathering satellite and artificial intelligence goes to work. ORACLE is like a watchtower tucked up in space; ready to inform on any given situation at a time. I’m still surprised after its launch it was designated into the equivalent of a floating metal rock. The pitch for it by WayneTech was to sell it the GCPD as well as Gotham General to use to predict car accidents, robberies, and all sorts of observational issues. It was the last project that our former WayneTech head Lucius Fox developed before he resigned from the company and formed Fox Technologies.

I don’t use it for car accidents. I use it in my mission.

“{Three vehicles incoming location at erratic speeds.}” The A.I. informs me and I prepare the ambush.

Three cars arrive—the truck isn’t even in transit, they are deciding to cut it off before it makes too much noise. There are ten of them in total and they’ve just made a big mistake. I reach into my utility belt and hit a switch; I’ve hacked a nearby phone-line: I’ve set up an automated 9-1-1 distress call. The cops won’t arrive until I’m done, but these criminals will be all set up for them, I’ll make sure of that.

I have a few minutes to take down ten armed criminals before the police arrive.

They have no chance.

One of them comments about how this will be ‘too easy’ as he overlooks the Ace Chemicals truck—the driver inside is dependent on Batman to save him from this heist. He’s noticed them and he’s about to leave the truck to question them who they are. My hand reaches to my utility belt and pressed a button down and the power drops for the whole city block—this will operate for ten minutes. Ten minutes is more than enough time for me to work— aiming a device I fire at one of them as they begin to get scared. I’ve operated in Gotham for about a year now and they understand that I’m there watching—waiting—ready to end their little activity. The device I fired holds a tranquillizer capsule of my own design that’s built into my gauntlets. It’s effective and filled with a non-lethal dose of experimentally modified fentanyl—people struck by it are out within seconds.

The capsule breaks—letting out the fentanyl-based gas into a thick smoke, the two caught in the blast try to catch their breath and cover their mouth but it’s too late as all it needs is a few seconds to get into your system.

THUD!

THUD!

Two down.

The other criminals are screaming. They have no clue.

The darkness is my weapon—these Russian mobsters aren’t even equipped with flashlights. That’s too bad.

Gliding downward I take two of the scared mobsters on my way down—their nearest friend aims a gun at me and I’m attempted to smirk, I don’t of course—even as I shoot out my batclaw; the grappling hook tossing and propelling his gun far from us. His face drops and he blinks—I’m in front of him and he’s soon on the ground.

Five more to go—gunfire is propelled in my general direction as I roll behind an industrial dumpster—dropping a general smoke pellet in the process. As I land I prepare a batarang as I toss it in the opposite direction of where I’m hiding; it clanks against an old chevy Malibu which attracts their attention towards it and dropping their guard. One of the mobsters goes closer to the car to investigate while the other four stick close. Before these four realize it I’m behind them and another smoke pellet drops and I begin disarming them and causing them great discomfort… great pain. The noise frightens the lone guard but he’s the only one left.

He’s all alone.

He begins to panic and starts to run. I aim my batclaw at his legs.

TWHIP!

CRACK!

He’s on the ground and I can hear the police sirens. I look back to the freight truck—the Driver’s been in there the whole time, he’s scared. His eyes meet mine for a second, but before he realizes anything I’m gone—back into the night. Back into Gotham.

Just another night in my mission.

Alan Scott / Green Lantern

| Origin & Backstory |

Origin

Alan Scott was born on Earth and through an indomitable willpower during the Gulf War later became one of two green lanterns of his sector alongside the wise Abin Sur. Alan Scott removed himself from his homeworld—seeing the bigger picture among other Green Lanterns; hence why history did not see a green lantern for quite some time. For years Alan Scott served with the most dutiful loyalty that the corps had seen in a long while—granting him respect and recognition among his peers.

Then there was the homeworld of the race known as the thorn. This planet, within the corps jurisdiction found itself under attack by raiders with a device to reap and harvest the planet’s resources—knowing the race would be unable to resist due to their inherent link to a cosmic force within nature they assumed they would be out of there with little resistance and before the corps would happen upon them. The planet however did suffer massive casualties as the pure emotional and psychological pain they experienced began to take its toll. The druidic people irregardless of this mounted a defense as the planet attempted to fight back against these raiders but even then it seemed to be an uphill battle… or it would have been if it were not for Alan Scott and his team of green lanterns. Scott fought back the raiders and defeated them into submission and hauled them back to galactic court to face the law.

Jade’s mother was grateful to Alan Scott when he returned a few galactic cycles later and they fell in with each other; eventually resulting in the birth of Jade; which despite a taboo on other worlds was only looked upon with worry for the child. Jade’s childhood was one of half-thorn culture and half-thorn connections: she could not move earth or water but she still felt the “heartbeat” of nature itself—the planetary soul. Even with this weight she strived to be good and growing up knowing of what the Green Lantern’s stood for and who her father was she began to envy the outside world; something few thorn did. This resulting her into leaving her home when it became an ample opportunity; as Jade does this Alan Scott returns to Earth after nearly half of his life ignoring the planet.

Year One

On his way to Earth, Alan Scott discovers a distressing sight as the first manned flight to Mars goes catastrophic and he acts for the first time in defense of Earth; saving the astronauts and revealing himself in a role he perceives as one he should have taken sooner. Sometime afterward he teams up with the speedster, The Flash, to stop a dimensional invasion from occurring on Earth—his ally claims to see something on the other side and while not skeptical of the possibilities due to his time as a Lantern, Alan finds himself underestimating The Flash’s perception.

Then the catalyst of all events occurs as Alan Scott finds himself fighting alongside other earthborn heroes to defeat the alien Sta’rro. Following this event Alan Scott discusses with his “colleagues” about founding a league of defense with them in charge to observe and protect the realm. The Justice League is born.

Year Two

Months later in his second year since his return to Earth Alan Scott is faced with a new challenge: Dr. Hector Hammond. The CEO and founder of Hammond Solutions, a technology and defense firm is researching a space meteorite called Wildcr which instills a strange happening when his research causes the fragment to explode—causing a mutation in Hammond’s DNA and growing his already high-level intellect to the level of a telepath and psychic. Manipulating his scientists through mental power, Hammond begins to plot. Ultimately a humanist; Hammond believes the evolution of the metahuman is a threat (despite by all terms of him being a mutant is comparable at this point) and makes his priority to keep them in check. Hammond creates several combat drones and repurposes them into a war machine that is aimed at the Green Lantern, Alan Scott. Alan Scott defeats the robot before thinking to if it was a rogue A.I. or something greater.

Not long after, Dr. Joar Mahkent becomes the supervillain known as The Icicle—attacking Coast City with a weapon that converts moisture in the air into ice. Alan Scott initially is unsure of Icicle’s identity but it is eventually discovered Mahkent was disguising himself as a man known as Lanky Leeds as a front for his criminal activities. Mahkent is committed into the Gull Island Correctional Facility serving as the supervillain housing prison for Star, Coast, and Gateway City. Professor Luri Hoshid unearths an ancient artifact in Bialya, The Star Sapphire. Unbeknownst to her, the artifact is a sentient overmind that corrupts the female mind whilst giving them extreme cosmic power. It is linked to the fall of one of the earliest Bialyaian ruling dynasties. This power changes the professor into a being of destruction that Alan Scott has to contend with stopping. The alien, Replikon, breaks out of intergalactic prison and flees to what he believes is an obscure planet with intent to manipulate its strongest government for a foundation of his new empire: as a shapechanger he easily disguises himself into a world leader—the King of Qurac. With the help of Batman, Alan Scott works against the clock to expose Replikon and restore peace.

Year Three

The next year began with an announcement as Alan Scott’s sector partner and Green Lantern, Abin Sur, announced his retirement to the reserve corps on Oa. Selecting a replacement for Abin Sur was difficult as Sector 2814 was one of which full of men and women who underwent tasks of will and heroism in times of war, emotional conflict, and psychological strife. Alan Scott was selected as the “herald” to find a new member for the sector as he was the longstanding member of the sector (the same responsibility Abin Sur had when he recruited Alan Scott).

THE BLIGHT. DARKSTAR ALLIANCE.

A scientist named Neal Emerson is turned into the supervillain, Polaris, when a scientific experiment goes wrong and explodes in Coast City. Weeks later, Alan Scott finds himself in Coast City to visit a military veteran and his friend; Sam Smith. On his way to Smith’s place of residence he finds a scene where the police are in dire need of help and as a Green Lantern Alan finds the responsibility in his hands. Polaris is defeated, but given his unique superpower Alan decides he can’t let him fall into the local authorities hands and takes him to a galactic prison instead. Not too long after, traveling to Uxor, Green Lantern finds a invading warlord named Brutus Force terrorizing the planet and calling out any of his foes that were hiding that he could not be defeated. The alien soon found himself contending with Alan Scott. Uxor is one of many obligations to the galaxy.

At the end of the year, a super-powered android called AMAZO attacked the Justice League at their place of organization—The Hall of Justice, an acquisition that was a year old for the organization. This battle with AMAZO lasts hours and is the most difficult struggle for the Justice League since Libra’s confrontation in the previous year. The remains of AMAZO are collected by STAR Labs at the request of the League.

YEAR FOUR - WIP

| Character Notes | - Is there anything you want to elaborate on? Extra lore for the city you are home to? Notable NPCs?

WIP

| Powers & Abilities |

Green Lantern Ring: Alan Scott like all Green Lanterns can create green constructs from the sheer force of will and imagination.

Interrogation: Scott's years as a Green Lantern and a Military Veteran show that he is quite adept in fields of interrogation, though Scott finds himself bound by morals and ethics.

Military Protocol: A one-time soldier raised by a career soldier, Scott is quite familiar with military policy, protocol and most aspects of life in the military.

Hand-to-Hand Combat: Scott received basic training at West Point and served in several tours.

| How is this character different? |

Well, he certainly isn’t the new 52 Alan Scott; and like I’d mention in a Jade sheet, his daughter is completely different from both incarnations and considering she’s a dedicated NPC I will play while being Alan Scott. This Alan Scott has been a green lantern since around our equivalent of 1983 or so; and he’s been away from Earth for his entire career as a green lantern—he’s getting older and while he has this experience he still has this earthlike arrogance to his adventures.

| What is your goal with this character? |

A Green Lantern that knows stories about space cops fighting space criminals in space is what the core of Green Lantern is about. We’ll be seeing Mongul, mentions of Darkseid, Kilowog calling people poozers, Jade finishing her training as a green lantern and doing stuff as a dedicated NPC in my control and lots of other stuff. I can promise that I have a love for science fiction, space opera, and adventure. I think I bring a lot to the table and not just as a co-GM. I work well with others and I want to create something constructively done, well-paced, and fun to read.

| Sample Post |

Alan Scott looked onward as a trail of destruction sprawled right through Wein Incorporated, the executive company that ruled the construction game out here in California. However, this had been a major hit and it still wasn’t over; it was far from over. Scott wasn’t sure what had been the catalyst of the events that led up to now but there was a rampaging giant scourging through Coast City and he had to stop it before it was too late. His thoughts thought back to his Justice League, but he had fought far worse and done it alone—he didn’t need to call in Superman or anybody else…. at least not yet.

Scott’s eyes narrowed as he levitated through the sky—the green trail following him as he looked for the unsightly beast that was on a rampage which honestly didn’t take long at all as he came to Coast City Stadium and saw the unsightly gray thing smashing through its parking lot. This was bad; the Coast City Angels were up against tough competition with the Star City Rockets and damn it he refused for an ogre to endanger all of the lives at that baseball game.

“Hey!” Alan exclaimed as he threw up a construct of green energy that resembled a wall inbetween the Stadium itself and the rampaging thing; in reply it turned to Alan—looking up with a scowl.

“GRUNDY SMASH!”

With great force the being jumped high intending to slam his fist into the Green Lantern which honestly Alan didn’t expect—he dropped his current construct into the first thing he thought of: a baseball mitt. Using the mitt-esque construct he caught the force of “Grundy” although the impact of the giant gray zombie was enough to push him back a few feet before Grundy dropped to the ground below.

“At least I have his attention.” He muttered under his breath.

What had happened to this Grundy to make him like this? Was he still human?

The two questions ran across the Green Lantern’s mind as he yelled at the zombie loud and clear.

“Hey! Grundy? Let’s go!”

“Grundy don’t like flashlight man! Grundy hurt flashlight man!”

Scott smirked as he shot out another construct of energy: surrounding Grundy in a spherical orb and holding on to his willpower flew away from the city with Grundy in his grasps— he just hoped he could hold onto the zombie for long enough.

“GRUNDY NO LIKE BALL CAGE! GRUNDY SMASH!”

Kara-El / Lana Kent / Supergirl

| Origin & Backstory |

Origin

The House of El’s history is one comprised of hope, wisdom, and faith. This is something Kara-El knew as she looked to her father, Zor-El. Zor was the parallel opposite of his brother despite them once agreeing on where krypton needed to go; Jor-El being more of a traditionalist and Zor-El falling into trans-humanist beliefs. Perhaps this is to say why the two El’s became distant and ignorant of each other and their families. It wasn’t until his daughter Kara’s sixth birthday when his world was truly shaken when his wife was seemingly assassinated on a trip to the nearest city, Argos. Zor didn’t know what was worse: that his wife was murdered or that his young daughter saw the entire thing. Regardless, Zor vowed to remove himself and his daughter from this world as they soon retreated to his rural home.

After her mother’s death, Kara-El found herself in an environment that was shaped around her father—at such a young age she had not even came to terms with what she had saw nor how to move past it. The next few years for her were all planned subsequently by her father who blamed the way their utopic society was falling apart slowly but most certainly. With his daughter in mind he began to toil with her genetics in proven theory in the guise of medical checkups: increasing her brain functions, her immune system, how her body and mind adapted to a scenario or environment, and her perceptive capability. This would prepare her for life on Earth and life among unpredictable archaic aliens. Kara didn’t understand why she would in time pick up on information from archives faster and at a higher level or why she never felt sick—but she didn’t think much of it as she moved forward ignorant of what was to come.

Kara-El’s fate was altered as her father doomed her to life away from krypton—away from everything that she had ever known. The last daughter of krypton was placed in a hyperbolic sleep and placed in a illegally developed spacecraft destined to make sure that the House of El and more importantly, Kara, lived to see the next cycle. This starship would drift in space as it literally froze her in time until it landed in the star system known as Sol. Equipping her with a robotic AI with a recorded log from himself, he hoped Kara could make it out there with what he had given her. Much like Kal-El, Kara-El had been designated towards the planet known as Earth. However, due to a variety of complicated events she would never reach Earth… at least, not until Kal-El who at this point has fashioned himself as the Man of Steel—Superman finds her in a very bad way.

Year Three

The discovery of Kara-El was seen as an exceptional link to Kal-El’s past and the real difficulty was getting the female kryptonian to adapt to the new world nearly ignorant of everything that she should have of known about. Through extensive education as well as lengthy conversations with her cousin she found herself understanding more and more—the most difficult being the archaic civilization of Earth society and the notion of “superpowers” as Kal had called them. The most surprising out of everything however was that Kara didn’t have trouble understanding the duality of Clark Kent and Kal-El as the young Kara theorized it was in the nature of self-preservation which is something she completely understood. When it came time for Kara to create an “alter ego” for practice, she picked two names that resonated with Clark’s stories—Lana and Kent. This would come into awkward straights months later when she incidentally met Lois Lane, who believed “Lana Kent” to be the daughter of Clark and some “smallville yokel” he had a fling with in his teenage years. This brought much complications for Clark as Kara ended up being enrolled at a public school in Metropolis after securing her identity legally through Batman’s channels of ability to do so.

Kara’s debut as Supergirl occurred nearly a year later when a disguised villain named Metallo attempted to kill Superman with a radioactive meteorite—from a distance Kara came in and became one of the most recognized sidekicks if not for the simple fact that her mentor was Superman.

| Character Notes |

WIP

| Powers & Abilities |

Kryptonian Physiology: Under the effects of a "yellow" sun, The average Kryptonian possesses the potential for super strength, super hearing, flight, near-invulnerability, and enhanced vision.

Multilingualism: Supergirl speaks a multitude of languages fluently. She learned all of Earth's languages in less then a month.

Genius Level Intellect: Kryptonians, though otherwise completely human, were superior both intellectually and physically to natives of Earth. Supergirl who lived near Argos for some time learned much about science and technology. Supergirl excels in engineering.

Eidetic Memory: Kara has a photographic memory which also entails a "sponge effect" on information visually or sonically absorbed. This is a byproduct of genetic conditioning by her father.

Reactive Adaptation: Engineered by her father, Zor-El, Kara has the ability to adapt to new surroundings (and specifically planets) in three times of the time it would take a normal Kryptonian. This is how she is able to grasp flight and her superpowers that may of taken Kal-El a decade to discover.

Basic Hand-to-Hand: Kara observed Torquasm-Vo, a Kryptonian martial art and thus using her Eidetic Memory can access it.

Engineered Immune System: Kara has been engineered to have a stronger immune system than most and it can resist disease and destroy contaminants through time.

| How is this character different? |

First of all, most incarnations of Supergirl are older teenagers who have respective issues but ultimately they are shipped off to the farm to Ma and Pa Kent. Personally, I always thought that shipping your respective blood that really could use your guidance to your parent’s house might be a bit “easy mode”. Anyway, Kara is different in a regard to how she speaks, thinks, and acts as well as an extension of her powers due to genetic tampering.

| What is your goal with this character? |

To create stories about a Supergirl as an adolescent in an alien world coming to grips with responsibility, duty, and humility. If we get Titans off the ground this year I'd also like to get her involved with that; but for the most part I'm creating stories here that deal with Kara's present rather than her past.

| Sample Post |

“<Danger—impact imminent! Destination corrupted, manual reset required!>” – as such were the words that graced Kara-El’s ears as the small spacecraft entered the milky way, releasing her from her stasis-induced slumber as the craft from Krypton barreled past the planet called Neptune. The girl had been put in simulations like this since approximately the age of ten and knew what to do, but there was the simple fact of being put in the very real scenario in front of her as her memories felt clouded in a sea of drowsiness and anxiety. She remembered fragments as she was put into medical stasis like she had for years and then as she awoken she was not at home, but here in a very illegal spacecraft.

“<…where am I?>”

“<Danger—impact imminent! Destination corrupted, manual reset required!>” the message was in loop but Kara-El knew what it meant and though she still a child she felt like she needed to work this out immediately. She was emotional beyond anything she had felt before; fear, confusion, sadness, loneliness… she wanted to scream, but the shouting shriek before her never happened—what did happen was her anxiety-riddled voice issued out a command in her very kryptonian voice. “<Modus one—call back to command, call back… to command.>” She stammered as her fingers began to move across the console of the vessel.

“<Unable to comply—signal corrupted.>”

The sound of the robotic console made the female feel as if her heart stopped and caught her breath, trying to maintain what she was experiencing. “<Detect nearby terrestrial planets for repair and recalibrations.>” She forced out of her voice as she felt like she almost couldn’t breathe. Her thoughts shook with the girl she was inside and they screamed like she wanted to scream—they screamed for her father but there was no response, there was no shelter. Kara was in a metal craft alone in the dark, cold and haunting void that was space. Tears still ran down her face as the console replied.

“<Found 1 of 1 possible planets.>”

“<Command – land craft on planet in optimal zone.>” The twelve-year old shook as she held on—it was hard to breathe in the craft, but she had been planned to survive and she would, despite her not knowing this she had experienced training and conditioning… the confusion had her sprawling with more and more anxiety. Even if Kara was expected to survive she was still very much a child.

“<Confirmed, brace for impact. Safety measures are in place.>”

Landing on a planet combined a multitude of feelings Kara had never felt before, and in the last few hours it only added to more and more of feelings she wanted to never experience ever again or at least that is what she thought for the time. Her vessel hit Earth like a high pressurized bullet and landed somewhere in the western hemisphere; an area surrounded by towering trees and rolling hills.

“<Initiating recalibrations… please wait.>”

The landing was as rough, but for a minute there Kara was for the first time in a good time still and ‘safe’ – nonetheless the twelve year old girl remained where she was and broke out in tears. Where was Zor-El? Where was her father?

This was a question that went in a vicious circular cycle for minutes that felt like hours until the ship spoke to her… in her father’s voice and it was then that her tears stopped as she listened to what was a recorded message.

“<Krypton is dying, Kara, and if you are hearing this message then you should of arrived at your destination if all of my efforts came to fruition. It breaks my heart that you have to hear me like this... alone and distant, but you will and can survive, that has always been what we have strived for and here… maybe you can find what you wanted on Krypton. The craft you are in should be sending a kryptonian distress signal, so in theorem that if any other survivors of our dying planet have arrived you will hopefully not be as alone as you must feel right now. I’m sorry Kara, Krypton is dead, and I know in my bones that this is right for you. I may not be there, but the AI I've built represents everything I am and will follow you for wherever you go... I regret that this is… goodbye, I love you with my heart; my little El. Be strong.>”

The transmission ended and the distress signal went out on kryptonian channels, but this message was not one a child should hear after just waking from her slumber nor alone, and this was evident as she slumped into a ball and let out a scream of suffering emotion.

Nicole Esperanza Diaz – Jinx

| Origin & Backstory |

Raised through a cruel foster care system in the United States, Nicole barely remembers her full name let alone the origins of her powers and for the bulk of her life it was generally pretty miserable. Eventually ending up in a foster home that wasn’t completely cold-hearted, Nicole found herself to have a home at age ten. When her foster family found themselves in danger, Jinx who had been hiding her powers in fear used them to protect the family which ultimately saved their lives. However, believing their “daughter” to be the spawn of the devil they cast her out and shamed her causing her to run away. It wasn’t long before a woman thereafter approached Nicole with the promise of surrounding Nicole with similarly aged youths with problems that society would not ever accept—not really. Jinx joined up with this “Queen Bee” and ended up becoming part of H.I.V.E. which is where her confidence began to bloom as she was assigned to The Fearsome Five project in no time.

With the Five she met youths much like Queen Bee had described—an imbalanced jokester who could teleport, an eccentric technopath, a hulking teenager with a big brother complex, and a rebellious girl who could transmute the elements. While this team of “misfit toys” began training and small-time missions they would form an unlikely kinship that would boost all of them to new heights. Eventually Nicole comes into a nickname among the group after she discovers her connection to magic can affect probability—this nickname is Jinx.

At nearly fourteen, Jinx and the Fearsome Fiver are re-located by Queen Bee to the United States—a place that held few pleasant memories for herself but in the H.I.V.E. had done her no wrong so the young girl felt it was unnecessary to complain, after-all they had given her everything she ever wanted. Assigned as Team Leader, Jinx looks to the future with a gleam of playfulness and duty but doesn’t understand the role that Queen Bee desires her and her friends to play.

| Character Notes |

Unless any other players take up the established Fearsome Five (or Queen Bee herself) then I’m pretty much going to run Jinx to move forward the plot involving them and if I get the ball going on the formation of a young heroes group than they’ll have somebody to play with (aka: fight). But otherwise, no, unlike Batman I don’t have this huge NPC library set up or anything like that.

| Powers & Abilities |

Probability Manipulation: Jinx's body produces mystical energy which she can use for a variety of effects. Among these is the ability to affect probability fields around specific objects. For example, through an act of will, Jinx can cause electrical systems to malfunction. Jinx's sorcery also enables her to affect the elements.

Energy Projection: Primarily though, Jinx uses her power to produce bursts of concussive mystical energy. She can hurl this energy either as a blast, or as a pink wave/hex, which she uses to knock her opponents off their feet.

| How is this character different? |

I guess you could consider this variation of Jinx a bit of a medium that borrows from the cartoon version most of us are no doubt familiar with and the comics’ incarnation. However, there is something that is going to be a lot more apparent with Jinx in this go; while she is sympathetic and not evil at the core in the center of her character there lies a frightened and neurotic youth who has nowhere to really go so she finds comfort among her “comrades” within HIVE’s Fearsome Five program.

| What is your goal with this character? |

I’ve wanted to run Jinx since the first version of UDC on the guild came up (as an NPC) but I never really figured out what I wanted to do with her and I ended up getting stuck in a co-op post that admittedly was In Character but felt a little obtuse being a part of.

| Sample Post |

“You won’t win Titans, we’re better than you.”

“Well, there are more of us.”

The two voices came at each other like clashing blades of opposing samurai in the cloudy afternoon at Gotham Harbor. The appearance of the Fearsome Five had put all trade on complete stand-by and with The Dark Knight overseas he wasn’t exactly able to respond. The Titans, a group formed of likeminded heroes was the best thing they had right now so here they were: Robin, Starfire, Changeling, Batgirl, Cyborg, and Raven. Normally Robin would be correct in this, but today Jinx had an ace under her sleeve – a sixth member.

With the snap of her hands came the appearance of a girl dressed in black with a similar complexion to that of Raven.

“…what now, boy blunder?”

“…so can you even call yourself the Fearsome Five anymore? Isn’t it more like the Fearsome Five plus One or something now?”

“Shut it!”

Robin smirked as he pushed forward and met contact with—Ambush Bug?!

“Mind if I cut in?!” The energetic H.I.V.E. member exclaimed as he jumped literally into the fray. Jinx found herself equally as surprised as Robin as the sidekick to Batman spoke up.

“A little, yeah!”

“Too bad, birdman! Let’s wing it!”

Robin’s eyes narrowed as Ambush Bug went head-to-head with him and if there was something about this member of the Five that he hated it was the fact that he really couldn’t follow his movements—he was chaotic and spontaneous in his movements, it was difficult to think ahead of somebody who probably wasn’t think at all and today Bug was certainly being competent which was… a first.

“What’s green and so uptight?”

Robin didn’t dignify it with an answer as the other members started to go at it: Jinx on Starfire, Gizmo on Cyborg, Changeling on Mammoth, Batgirl on Shimmer, Raven on the new girl. This went on for minutes and minutes before something was said that couldn’t be unsaid. Ambush bug had dodged Robin by teleporting behind him and what he said had just made Changeling stop and nearly die laughing.

“SUPER ANAL ATTACK NO JUTSU!”

Jinx simply raised a brow at her teammate as he kicked Robin in his rear as hard as the slightly insane teenager could muster and even she thought it was pretty funny.

| Identity | - Rhiannon Palmer/ The Atom
| Origin & Backstory | - Rhiannon Palmer was born and raised in Metropolis. Her father Thomas was the QB for the Metropolis Stallions, a four time Super Bowl Champion and four time league MVP while her mother Alice was an author. In Metropolis the family was royalty and life was a sweet as it could get for Rhiannon. However Rhiannon hated the limelight and didn't like that people wanted to get to know her because of who her family was and not who she was. Although she shunned the limelight and longed for privacy Rhiannon loved her parents and had a good home life.

When she graduated high-school Rhiannon went to Gotham State University so she could make her name on her terms. Rhiannon graduated with her PHD in molecular biology and was hired by the CDC and was sent to work their facility in Central City. Rhiannon was one of the brightest and best scientists in the CDC, and she loved what she did until one day changed everything.

A meteorite pulsating with unknown and unparalleled energy crashed outside of Central City and the CDC was called to investigate. Rhiannon was the lead investigator and she ordered the meteorite to be taken to their facility. Once it arrived the meteorite was placed in a secured room under the highest security protocols for testing. As they were getting ready to run their tests there was a power surge that managed to knock the security measures off line which meant the case containing the meteorite , and when that happened it knocked out the tech who was taking care of the final measures. Even in their protective suits they weren't sure the technicians' suit would protect him. This meant he was about to be trapped in the room. Without thinking Rhiannon bolted into the room and got the technician out of the room. Unfortunately the door closed trapping Rhiannon in the room with the meteorite and the protective shielding collapsed exposing her to the full energy for over five minutes.

After two weeks in isolation and a seemingly endless array of tests being run it was determined that Rhiannon was unaffected, but she knew something was wrong with her. While she was on medical leave Rhiannon was at her apartment cleaning up when she noticed an earring had fallen into a vent. Rhiannon concentrated on trying to reach the earring, and then suddenly she noticed the earring was getting closer and bigger. The next thing Rhiannon knew the earring was the size of a mountain. Rhiannon at first was terrified to find that she had shrunk and was wondering if it was permanent. Rhiannon concentrated and returned to normal size. She went down to the CDC and ran some more in-depth tests in herself. Rhiannon discovered that the energy from the meteorite had mutated her pituitary gland. It was a gradual process and on such a small scale that the original tests missed it.

Rhiannon kept this discovery to herself but knew she had been given these powers for a reason and decided it was time to use them in the fight for justice. She stayed many late nights at the CDC "borrowing" certain materials to make her costume. Rhiannon declared that the name of the newest crime fighter would be called "The Atom." Rhiannon decided to leave the CDC because she didn't want to stay too much longer in case questions would be raised.

Year 1: Rhiannon spent a year adjusting to her powers and getting used to seeing things from a "different" point of view. She would occasionally venture out and "sneak" into high security buildings such as Wayne Towers, City Hall, The Police Station to name a few. Just to practice the art of being stealth.

Year 2: Rhiannon finally adopted the name of "The Atom" and began venturing out at nights stopping random crimes. Eventually she catches the eye of the Justice League and is recruited as the scientist and covert operative.

Year 3: The Atom is now recognized as being a heroine in her own right, and defeats The Mad Hatter. However during the battle with The Hatter Atom is put under the influence of a gas where she lives out another life in a dream as a warrior in a primitive society that uses swords and shields. Atom not got married but also had two children.

| Character Notes | -Rhiannon has a father dying of cancer, and she was pregnant but lost the baby when she was in a car accident. The loss of that child and the fact that her idealized life as a warrior, wife, and mother was nothing more than a dream still stings her to this day. Rhiannon is very intellectual and focused on her work, but very sarcastic. The Atom is much more outgoing in terms of her personality, but like Rhiannon very sarcastic.

| Powers & Abilities | The ability to shrink down to microscopic size, and the ability to shift her weight so even at (for example) six inches tall she can have weight and strength as though she were her normal size. Can also shift her weight so that she can float on air currents and travel along cell-phone signals.

| How is this character different?| This character is a female, and while she is a scientist she enjoys the adventure and danger aspect of crime fighting unlike the actual DC character who is more scientific.

| What is your goal with this character? | To show that while her powers on the surface aren't exactly stunning or awe-inspiring there is more to her than just her powers.

| Sample Post | The Atom begins floating away on the night air. She smiles as she looks out over the Gotham Skyline.

Nice to finally get out and doing something else besides go from one faculty function to another and after looking at the computer screen all day I could use a night on the town. Although a date would be a better use of a night on the town, but after my last two dates maybe sometime alone is a good thing. At least by myself I'm not worried about my date trying to see how many drinks it takes to get me out of my clothes.

She spots a mugging in progress.

Okay so it's not exactly a big name Super Villain but hey I got to do what I have to do. Time to get to it

The Atom floats down and lands on top of the gun barrell.

The mugger is stunned looking at The Atom.

She says, "What's the problem? Can't find a date?"

The mugger begins to swipe at her with his free hand and she shifts her weight. The mugger stumbles and falls forward. As he is falling The Atom clocks him the jaw and he is now unconscious.

She floats up to the victim and says, "Get his gun. I'll call the cops."

The Atom gets to a pay phone and calls 911. The police arrive as she leaves the scene.

Okay who's next?
