[OOC] Mobile Suit Gundam SEED - Heroes of ORB

It is the year 71 of the Cosmic Era: Tensions are mounting between Earth and the ZAFT organization. Due to the Bloody Valentine Tragedy, these tensions suddenly escalated into a full-scale war between both ZAFT and OMNI Enforcer. It seemed a foregone conclusion that the Earth Forces, with its superior numbers, would be victorious. But these initial assessments proved to be false: almost 11 months have passed since the conflict began... with no end in sight. The escalating conflict has caused endless strife amongst the populaces of both sides with the exploitation of coordinators being a major point in this war. Most coordinators look down on the naturals whom 'plague' the Earth while the coordinators are being discriminated against for not being 'purely bred'. It is these discriminations that continue to fuel the war while other factors play tribute it is mostly a war of discrimination. However a number of elite pilots have been chosen for one goal: Destroy the other side. With tensions running high Earth has been working with the neutral faction known as ORB or at least a part of it to develop mobile suits to defend Earth against the invaders. ORB Senior Leader Richard Preston has openly given free access to Coordinators and with their abundance of resources have made it a very popular escape for people of all colors, races, and genetic types. However ORB itself is considered a free nation and a neutral one as opposed to the militant counterparts in ZAFT and OMNI. However things seem to be pulling ORB Into the crossfire as news of the attacks near Helioplis are heard on Onogoro Island where a ORB military outpost is stationed ready to guard against the war. However something is about to happen there that will change the face of the Bloody Valentine War forever...

History: Richard was born in the Orb Union circa CE 50 to a construction worker named Thomas Stone and a office woman named Carla Wayne whom met many years before the events of The Blood Valentine War. What was once simple affection turned into love and produced young Richard Stone whom proved to be quite a handful to his parents almost immediately after his birth. He was always highly curious and very prone to laughing and he seemed to grasp concepts with startling quickness even as a baby when he was playing with his toys. His father treated him with much care and respect teaching him how a man should act and how he should treat others be they coordinator or natural. His mother was a bit more disrespectful towards Coordinators but taught him how to read and many stories from an early age. He grew up to be a rather friendly boy but had little friends due to the anti-social nature of most of his classmates. However he cherished what friends he did have and promised he'd be their friend forever no matter how hard they worked. His work ethic was mirrored after his father whom was a dedicated and hard working individual especially and told the boy, as well as passing down the thought, of never giving up unless you can't work anymore. His father wasn't anything special but he loved his son more than anything in the world. However the increasing amounts of disease amongst the naturals and coordinators caused a rift in his family as his friends started to head out into space. However tragedy struck his life as his mother died in a terrorist bombing in a city during a work trip just after a promotion. His father grew depressed and sent Richard away to be with his uncle Stan Stone in the ORB Union whom was working on top projects with ORB leaders. While the death of his mother hit him hard he stayed strong for his friends despite some of them leaving into space themselves. Life in ORB was much different and his uncle was a much less social man than him but he still loved the man as family. He stayed in the capital of ORB for a long time and decided to make a career out of being a ORB Military Officer after being finding he liked the place and officially became a citizen of ORB with his dad's approval and some strings pulled by his prestigious uncle. He trained as a soldier for a couple of years before being tested and deemed an extraordinary pilot with high potential. However the Bloody Valentine War ruined many fine places on Earth and Stan along with Richard were moved to Onogoro Island.
Other: He obtained the rank of Sergeant First Class after showing his ability with mobile suits.

◾"Todesblock" 337mm Plasma-Sabot Bazooka
A hand carried shell-based weaponry, it has a high rate of fire and causes serious damage and shock around the impact area.
◾"Schlag" 125mm High-Energy Long-Range Beam Cannon
The primary weapons of the Calamity are a pair of backpack-mounted Schlag beam cannons, which rise up over the shoulders. They have excellent rate of fire and destructive power, and are capable of easily destrying an enemy force from range.
◾"Scylla" 580mm Multi-Phase Energy Cannon
A high powered energy cannon mounted in the upper torso section of the Calamity. Based upon the same cannon incorporated into the GAT-X303 Aegis, it can deal serious destruction to anything that gets in the Calamity's path with a single salvo. It can be used to discourage enemy units from closing in and is often used in conjunction with Calamity's other weapons for a pure destructive barrage.
◾Anti-beam Shield
Attached to the left hand, the shield is made out of materials derived from the outer armor of spaceships like the Laurasia class. As a result, it is light yet superhard. In addition, its surface has been given anti-beam treatment and the sharp tip can be used as a weapon during close combat.
◾"Kaefer Zwei" 2-barrel 115mm Ram Cannon
A second pair of beam cannons that is mounted on the shield, it also has an excellent rate of fire.

Genetic Type: Coordinator

Personality: Friendly to most, and with a very motherly aura about her, it is quite easy to feel comfortable around her. While she hardly ever gets angry, when she does she shuts herself away and avoids whoever or whatever it was that made her angry, even to the extent of avoiding talk about it. When it comes to machines, any sort of machines, Milya becomes much more animated, seemingly able to talk for literally hours without stopping. Her skill at observation honed through her craft can sometimes give her insight to people, though she would usually blurt it out a few moments later.

History: Born as a Coordinator in ORB, and thus was protected from discrimination, she grew up in a relatively noisy household with seven other siblings. As thus, she became the well mannered one, helping out whenever she can. Thus leading to her helping her father fix up his car. It was a pile of junk, and her mother and other siblings never saw it as anything but. At first that what she did too, but as the years passed, she saw the pile of junk gradually take shape into something more, until it became a sleek looking custom mobile anyone would be proud to own by the time she was 17. By that time she herself was already pulled into the world of machines, and took steps to further expand her knowledge on them.

All her work payed off in the end, landing a contract in a testing base just off ORB's borders. Milya was rather irked when she found out she was working with MSes instead of more ordinary machines, but soon got over it and reveled in the feeling of completion whenever something she had worked on operated without a hitch. Soon she became the head technician for that testing base, something she had only ever dared to dream about. Fate played a different hand however, for one day, a pilot that was supposed to showcase the then new MS base model called in sick.

None of the other techies dared go near the MS, so Milya took it herself and piloted the MS to the testing ground, running all the scheduled tests for most of that week, excluding one day when the pilot finally got better. The higher ups seemed relatively pleased about the MS's performance, and nothing more was heard from them for several months as they were developing the MS. Then right out of the blue she was given a letter offering her transfer to another station, with the added title of pilot, though she would be starting over as an assistant technician. She had no idea what she did to get it until she read another smaller less formal looking letter from one of the top brass that saw her piloting the MS. Knowing how far one can push one's machine, what sort of quirks is in it, and analyzing another target in the battle field under duress was all traits the higher ups observed in her and thus made recommendations she was to be transferred to a more military role. The title pilot did not strike her as odd at the time, as the wages offered were much more than she could make at the base. After saying her goodbyes and tying up loose ends in the testing base, she finally transferred to a better station, where she assumed she would be working with bigger and better MSes.

Working, maintaining, and optimizing a machine, only to pilot it later and see how much more efficient she can make it work.

That kind of feeling was not something she'd forget.

"Igelstellung" 75mm multi-barrel Anti Air CIWS

Mounted in the Strike's head are two "Igelstellung" 75mm multi-barrel CIWS guns. These light projectile weapons are used to intercept missiles and to destroy lightly armored vehicles, although it is classified as Anti Air.

"Armor Schneider" Combat Knife

Stored in the Strike's hips are a pair of folding "Armor Schneider" combat knives. These knives do not need power from the suit, can be thrown, and their blades vibrate at high speed allowing them to pierce through most armor except PS armor.

57mm High-energy Beam Rifle

An optional armament, the beam rifle can be stored on the side skirt. This is the primary ranged combat weapon and can easily destroy a ZGMF-1017 GINN with one shot, but is mostly ineffective against suits with anti-beam coating. It has an additional handle that can shift to the side, and is often used for extra stability when the Strike is firing its rifle rapidly.

Bazooka

The bazooka is an optional heavy assault weapon based upon the standard bazooka design of firing explosive shells. Because it is a conventional weapon, the bazooka does not draw power from the Strike's battery and this results in extended combat endurance. Another advantage is that the bazooka can be used underwater, unlike a beam rifle. To increase firepower the bazooka loads four cartridges of ammo. The disadvantage is that its greater size and weight makes it somewhat less mobile then the beam rifle. In Gundam SEED RE: the Bazooka had an alternate Shrapnel munition that could be used also.

Shield

The shield is an optional piece of handheld equipment designed to increase the Strike's defensive capability. The shield does not have phase shift armor, so it is not as durable as the Strike's armor, however it also does not drain energy each time it is hit. The shield's major advantage is that it is anti-beam coated and can block or deflect beam weapon attacks, against which phase shift armor is ineffective.

XM404 "Grand Slam" Anti-Ship Sword

A large sword developed by the ZAFT, but used by the Strike to take down enemy mobile suits. Seen only in episode 08 of Gundam Evolve.

Personality: Alexander tends towards a quieter demeanor, something not really helped by how much time he spends working. While he's actually very friendly once a conversation is struck, he isn't often the one to make conversation. He's almost always thinking, and will often have a new idea at unusual times, leading him to keep a running mental list of things to look into or ponder. Outside of the workplace, and even in it, he tends to have a relatively low-profile; In large part this is to avoid drawing attention to his status as a Coordinator. While it's not exactly a secret, it isn't something commonly known.
History: All things considered, Alexander had a relatively normal childhood. His parents chose to make him a Coordinator so that their son would have the best chance at successful life that he could, but they also raised him with one very important lesson; He wasn't any better than anyone else. Whatever advantages his birth had given him, they didn't make him any better. Growing up in Orb, he didn't face too much persecution about being a Coordinator; He never made a big deal out of it, just in case anyone ever did object, but he wasn't too concerned either. He graduated school in good standing, unsurprisingly, and in fact had enrolled in more advanced engineering classes before he ever left high school. Both hardware and software fascinated him, so he learned everything about them that he could. Perhaps it should have been no surprise, then, that he applied to work for Morgenroete at the very first chance he got.

Even with his qualifications, he worked a fairly low-level job at first. Basic maintenance, minor assignments, et cetera, et cetera. He worked as hard at them as he would anything else, however, and he caught the eye of more senior engineers. His biggest break came when he was tapped to do some software work for what was, unbeknownst to him, the G-Project under Erica Simmons. His work was impeccable, but that had an unintended consequence; Some of the officials commissioning the G-Project began to suspect a Coordinator was working on the proekct directly, and were none too pleased by it. Though Alexander was not aware of it, that was why he was suddenly taken away from his previous work and assigned to the Astray Project. Developed largely concurrently with the G-Project, the Astrays were meant for Orb's own military, though they were created with much the same knowledge as the GAT series. Alexander worked on much of their software and made it a point to be familiar with the hardware as well. When they were testing pilot candidates, he was one of those tested; However, since the Astrays were, ultimately, meant for use by Naturals, he was not surprised that the overseers preferred to use test pilots from the target demograhic. His familiarity with the systems nonetheless proved to be quite helpful in his control of the prototype.

Mobile Suit: MBF-P03 Astray Blue Frame

A connector for attaching additional equipment to the back of the suit. It is similar in function to the hardpoint on the back of the Strike Gundam. The connector is exposed when the backpack is lowered to the back skirt armor.

Aside from that was the character a part of the OMNI group working on the G Project? It's a bit confusing to me on that regard because it says your an ORB tech. I would hope we didn't get to many more military technicians now that we have two.

Blue Astray - Duel - Strike - Calamity - Buster - and I believe Blitz but I'm not sure on that last one

Are there extendeds in ORB? I'm thinking of making an extended character, should my character be a transfer from OMNI?

No there aren't. Extended are mostly crazy children who are made to combat the more effective coordinators if you want an extended he'd need regular medical treatment and he'd come from OMNI and already be a designated pilot for his suit. I should warn you extended are REALLY skilled but hard to play as since they have limited run time compared to other pilots.

Regarding the engineer bit; No, he wasn't a part of the OMNI group. I fact-checked on the Wiki, just to be sure, but the first generation of mobile suits (Strike, Duel, Blitz, etc.) were jointly developed between the Earth Alliance and Morgenroete. He worked on the software for those, before being transferred to the Astrays, which were in part developed from data taken from the G-Project.

As for the photo... I'll take another crack at it, but finding one that fits the general image is a pain. XD

Wasn't the Calamity Gundam developed from the Buster Gundam? What makes it a first-gen? It uses more advanced Trans-Phase armor and has more energy than the first few Gundams.

The Gundam Wiki even says:

One of three second generation GAT-X machines, Calamity is built on the X100-series frame and inherits Buster's artillery attack concept.

That means the Calamity, Raider and Forbidden are all second-gen suits.

The others don't care and neither do I. The start date is July 10th CE 71. If anyone really cares I'll change it to a normal phase shift armor.

In mid CE 71 is the listed date for the making of all three of the druggies' suits. Would you prefer me in Aegis leaving only two Astrays for ZAFT to steal and or nothing at all and steam roll EVERYTHING? Also having the newtype in Aegis makes my guy even better than he is in Calamity. That's not very fun in my opinion. If you still want to join go ahead but it's likely to cause Raider and Forbidden to join the mix with ZAFT to make things fair and or putting in later period suits to make up for ZAFT having nothing worth noting.

Just saying; if you're going to have a Mobile Suit tier restriction, it needs to be clear and easy to understand. The existing 1st-gen restriction conflicts with the 2nd-gen canon, so I'd rewrite your rule to smooth out the kinks.

Fair enough the rule is simple by first gen I mean anything without a neutron jammer canceller and preferably with some sort of hamper the suit if it's something like Calamity. Calamity itself is a land unit with little flight capabilities and little in the way of melee to make up for the fact that it has better operational time and heavy range weapons.
