The League - Mature Superhero Sci-Fi and Urban Fantasy RP

Excellent, any ideas for a character?

Okay, going to be honest and say I'm usually really sceptical when I see the words "mature" and "realistic" used by someone to describe their RP, especially when it concerns a fantastical subject like this, but... I think you've approached it in the right way and made it actually mature sounding, so I guess I have tentative interest. Just... Don't let me down, okay? ^^;

This may sway me to take some time out of my busy schedule to return to RP.

I have a few character concepts, all vampires (which I have a great fondness for) and antiheroes of varying degrees, each with about the same grisly powerset.

First would be a younger character, precociously cynical and with an impulsive desire for self-destructive sacrifice. Next a stoic Punisher-esque character that gives into his raging bloodlust in battle. Last would be a boisterous and hedonistic vampire that does his duty out of familial obligation.

Thank you very much, and I'll certainly try not to :) I kinda agree with you, using those words do sometimes indicate that someone is trying to hard to make their rp 'cool' but my sleep deprived state couldn't think of any better words to try to communicate the somewhat darker tone I had in mind for this rp haha. I'm hoping this rp is worth your while.

Thank you for your interest. I like seeing someone make a Supernatural character. We already kind have the first archetype on our team and the second would seem a bit too unstable but I like the third idea just fine if you want to roll with that. I'm going to post the CS later tonight so you can fill out your idea.

So if everyone who expressed interest is still up for the rp then we definitely have enough to move forward. As always more are welcomed. I'll try to have the OOC done by tonight so we can get rolling as soon as possible.

Is it completely nessecary for characters to be part of the team, or are rogue elements permitted? That was more my intention the the second idea, which I am currently favoring.

As of right now all characters that are roleplayed will be part of the League whether they began that way or joined later on. You could start the rp as a vigilante, mercenary, soldier, etc etc but eventually they would join the League. That's until the setting is more established and we can even start having people role play as all kinds of characters even the Villains. I just want to keep the rp more focused until the thread is better established. I hope this doesn't dampen your interest in the rp.

And characters who join the League can later leave the team, betray them to the villains, or even die even before the thread starts having villain player characters. A major element of the roleplay is the choices the characters make while they are in the League. It's just at this juncture characters will be restricted to League-related activity.

It's only that the character concepts I have do not mesh especially well with the whole "Assembly of Super Acquaintances" deal. Would just seem a bit contrived to have them in there, is all. I'll keep at it, though.

Well the idea is that the League begins as a loose association of misfits and (hopefully) evolves into the unified organization it's envisioned to be. If you want any advice or input from me on how to implement your character ideas please ask. Perhaps your second character was 'pressured' into joining the League so that he wouldn't undermine the League's cause with his methods and now they could start to regulate his activities?

Thank you for your interest. There's no cap to how many people I'll accept, so far. The minimum was six but if everyone who posted here signs up, I have almost twice that and there's always room for more.

All of the heroes are original, it's just that you can pay homage to established characters as long as you add your own twists. I look forward to seeing your idea.

That's fine, better late then never. Thank you for informing me. And if anyone ever has anything going on in their lives where they may have to suspend or even drop their activity in the roleplay, please simply tell me or the group. I myself won't be available on the weekend, and such is why I'm trying to push this rp through so fast so we can start the IC by hopefully friday or monday.

This looks like just the sort of thing I'm after. I'm thinking maybe a sort of Doctor Fate/ Doctor Strange type sorcerer if that'd be okay?

That'd be pretty cool. Doctor Fate has always been one of my favorites. I'm thinking that character doesn't start off as a magical badass but does turn into this world's Sorcerer Supreme eventually. I think it would make for an interesting progression.

Yeah, the extent of magic is always pretty nebulously defined in these types of universes, and often used as an excuse to come up with any deus ex machina. I'd like to avoid falling into that trap, of course, but if you think it'd be too much you're well within your rights to say no.
