This is the world building thread for the NRP Tales Of A Gilded Throne. This thread is where players, that's you guys ^^, go to add things into the canon and world so that others may have easy access to them and include them in their posts in order to help flesh out this large and long lived world. This includes things like the various orders of Knighthoods or Guilds of all kinds, Great cities of note, peoples, religions/gods, martial arts, civilisations beyond the continent (likely from the southern isles), Major Wars or/and conflicts, and such that may be found in Alderon. Which is the name of the planet as a whole in the old tounge.

The Great Gnoll war took place 23 years ago when one intelligent gnoll formed all the raiding tribes of the gnolls into one destructive army. After the harassment and eventual destruction of a few nomadic Ash skins settlements around the city of Dashash, The First Star, Hevi Deprash, declared a state of war. Soon after the declaration Hevi recognized that Ashtokens neighbors to the south, House Marrow, were being invaded as well and he opened relations with the now allied House. Together the combined forces of the two houses created the Eastern Alliance, and they promptly beat the Gnoll forces back into a bloody submission with little loss of their own forces.
However the gnoll armies proved to have qualities of plasticity, as they kept reforming, regrouping, and then re-invading, causing the war to last nearly two years. Eventually the specialized Ashtoken guard was deployed to hunt down and retrieve the head of The Gnoll Chieftain, ending the gnolls ability to regroup. Directly after the swift decapitation, Gori Lamillur, aged 20, Commanded a large portion of the Ashishian army as one of the youngest generals ever appointed, and with his forces he ended the war in one final battle of strategic genius. It is recorded that he tricked the Gnoll Horde into a double envelopment, sealing their fate in the bloodied sands.
After the war, the Eastern Alliance was written in stone, and the two houses remain close allies to this day. However, shortly after the war Hevi Deprash died in his sleep due to his old age. Shortly after this the Council of Six elected Gori Lamillur, Token(hero) of Ashishia, as the new First Star at the age of 22, making him the youngest ever appointed once again. This election further increased friendliness with House Marrow, as Gori was well known in Alabast as the young general who had fought with their king, and became a role model for their prince, Osmodeus.
The aftermath was in Ashtoken favor, as the plunder taken from gnolls, as well as the reclaiming of lost farm lands caused an economic boom and golden age in Ashishia, only to have new trade relations with House Marrow and Whitebane further fan the golden flames of success. First Star Gori Lamillur now presides over one of the greatest economical stretches Ashishia ever experienced, as even 23 years later, they still feel the gold fill the coffers of Loashti and Shi'iti.

In the beginning, the Southern Islands were once whole. This was called the Grand Uharteetan in the tongue of Tauricia. This massive island composed all the islands of the southern islands into one large region on the continent. The land soon grew with life as the sea licked the shores of the land. Wildlife emerged, including fish, deer, and many other creatures. Then, the first people of the land arrived, though they were not humans.
During the time of Great Magic throughout the land, the first inhabitants arrived on the Grand Uharteetan. They were called the Nami, and they were a group of mermaid like people. They controlled the waters, and used their magic to gain the abilities of fish, including tails, gills, and extremely pressure resistant skin. They were human-looking out of their fish form, but they had a blueish coloration to their skin. With time, the Nami established a grand civilization on the Southern Isles, creating one of the first empires the continent had ever seen. They fought off dragons and other beasts due to them using magic to stop the fires of the great wyrms. The Nami were soon an established race, with a mighty empire, and a mighty army to manage it. They worshiped Akop, god of the sea, as their "father", and fought against Bokt, the evil god of the depths. They built great underwater memorials, and great structures. Their civilization would be known throughout history, until the sundering.
The sundering is said to have occurred 3000 years ago. During this time, Nami magic exploded across the island. The Nami were soon thirsting for more and more magic. They wanted to control the very elements of the land. Soon, the Nami grew twisted in their plight for magic, and the affects could be seen on them. Their skin turned from blue to a blackish blue color. The breaking point came shortly after. One day, the Nami went to a pool in the center of the Island to perform a spell that would bring forth Akop into the world. While this was a false notion to begin with, the leadership was so desperate for magic they were willing to try to bring a god into the mortal plane for it. It turned ugly quickly. The pool burst full of magic. The explosion decimated the island, and all life was wiped out from it. The Nami were gone in a flash. The worst was yet to come for the grand island. Soon cracks began to appear across the island. Then, the island split. The Sunderring created the islands of Tauricia that are known today. Life would return, but the Nami were considered extinct. Their ruins still exist to this day.
Mortal life would also come in the forum of adventurers from the northern Continent, but that is a story for another day.........
St. Valarien's Order of Hospitallers:
Based in the fortress-monastery of Lipany, the Hospitaller Order is dedicated to the memory of Valarien Paragon. Its members patrol the roads from Karviná to Noctua, protecting pilgrims and travelling folk from danger. It also manages a number of hospices, tending to the sickly and injured. All kinds of beastmen are disdained by the order, and expeditions to root out their lairs are not uncommon. The Hospitallers take a very apolitical stance in their duties, as they claim to serve all of mankind.
Order of the Sacred Flame:
Like their Blazing Sun counterparts, knights of the Sacred Flame are devout in their worship of Kammeth, studious in their martial prowess and military strategy. Historically, the order was founded by the elite of Ladislav’s warriors after the Conquest of Elyden, vowing to “Defend the Crown and the Faith” from beastmen, pagans and other undesirables. Unlike the Hospitallers, they are very much secularly dedicated to House Benedikt, and have no qualms against warring with other Houses if it is in their lord’s interest. The Knights of the Blazing Sun and the Sacred Flame are on good terms with each other, and conduct joint crusades on beastmen.

“The Black Scorpions”
Also known as The Skinless by the Ashtoken, or Without Token (hero/honor/faith/Ashishian ideals)
The fearsome group of outlaws and contract killers known as the Black Scorpions are a renown organization numbering close to a thousand, though no formal census can actually say. Their roots are rich and coincide with the Ashtoken pretty closely, as Ashishia was their country of origin and they date back over three hundred years, founded as a rogue military operation to combat gnolls by First Star Jufih Aceroth.
They dress in black robes and paint themselves with a clay based paint, just as dark as their ambitions. Very few ever feel it necessary to actually wear defensive clothing as their crimes and assassinations are normally smooth and committed silently. Their weapons of choice happen to be bias towards Ashishian arms, among them being the elegant Ashishian curved sword, nasty desert darts, and the composite bow. However, they have grown into a nasty reputation for using various poisons to aid their kills. Originally when the group was founded, the Ashtoken were exploring new medicines, and in contrast, the Black Scorpions explored new poisons with a range of effects.
They protected the desert and the tribes as loyally as any other Ashtoken for a good two hundred years, keeping honor and conduct up to par with the rest of Ashishian military standards. Sadly, during the last one hundred year stretch they reared off the just course and fell into corruption, as other figures of importance would buy them out to do personal dirty work and smuggling. Eventually the council of the stars were forced to bring up the topic of disbanding them on accounts of criminal activity, spear pointed by First Star Hevi Deprash against the head of the military organization, Lori Deprash, distant cousin of the old Voice.
This did not go over well and an assassination attempt that the Black Scorpions were so famous for was directed at The First Star himself. The plot was foiled by the Ashtoken guard and Lori Deprash was killed in the conflict. Most of the members of The Black Scorpions left the organization or integrated into the border militias when they had discovered the plots of Lori. Not surprisingly though, many of the higher ranked and richer Scorpions delved deep into the endless desert in exile as ‘The Skinless’(coming from their now lack of Ashtoken value and the giving up of the Ash for black clay) to continue their criminal activities in secret, recruiting outlaws and vagabonds of all sorts.
This trespassing didn't last more than a year, as the Ashtoken guard tracked them down, and with the aid of a few magi’s, forced them to retreat out of Ashishia for good. Over forty years have passed since then (twenty years before The Great Gnoll war, ironically), and rumors have it, they are stronger than ever, and providing all sorts of shady services to even shadier clients.

Skinless Kepeshi, the Bane of Nobility
Kepeshi is perhaps one of the more colorful members of the Scorpions as he is very egotistical, a trait almost unheard of in someone who grew up in Ashishia. He is 36 years of age, but joined the order at the age of 14 after running away from home. He blossomed in the order as one of the most proficient killers and skilled in the use of poisons and the environment for untimely deaths. There is rumor long since dried up that he is a close relative of one of the leading figures in the Tribes of Ashtoken, making him one of the few remaining links between the Scorpions and their old origins.
Lori II
Lori cursed and threw down his real name at the death of Lori Deprash and took Loris title as his own, and convinced the highest members to escape with him to the desert(until forced out of Ashishia), and donned the title skinless. Lori II is now 67 years of age and still the head of the Black Scorpions, and possibly one of the most dangerous men in all of Elyden, as any name spoken from his lips is as good as slaughtered.
Joe the butcher
No one is sure where Joe came from, but he is a good, or terrible, sign that The order isnt exclusively exiled or criminalized Ashishian natives., but has recruited criminals from other regions. Joe’s name never struck fear into the hearts of his enemies, but this was usually because he had already cut it out with his signature cleaver the size of a forearm. He coats himself in the clay like the rest of his houseless brethren, and kills just as well, or better than the average scorpion as it may be. He is a man of little words, but a man who does not hesitate to delimb a target in front of their own mother, as one poor noble found out.
Cassewah Jemjo
A unique man, if one could call him that. His nose is pushed in like a dogs, and his teeth are long and sharp, better to eat you with he might add. Cassewah is a half Gnoll, his unknown mother was raped by Gnolls, and killed by his own birth, his first target if you will. Cassewah is skilled in stealth as well as dispatching enemies from great distances, or in quick hand to hand skirmishes.

A small bird native to Odesh, it is incredibly light weight and uses the wind to its advantage to reach higher speeds then most other birds. Due to its size, only small notes can be attached to it to keep its speed, these notes can be up to 140 letters in Ink and are normally smaller than a post it note, slipped into a holder on one of the birds legs.
They are trained to travel between home and food supplies.
They have been used by the Whiteshorns for generations, but are also popular throughout Odesh by teenagers to keep in touch with friends.
The bird is named after the signature sound it makes.
The bird is called a Twitter.
