Just wondering - are any of these landmasses defined by culture? Are these places comparable to real-world continents, or are we going to have Arabs next to Nordics? I'm wondering because, if I do decide to join (I'm still not sure I will), I'd like to be somewhere my people make sense.

Though I can't really give you an appropriate answer, as I'm certainly not the GM, I'll go ahead and say that my nation (the island-nation in the southern sea with a few mainland colonies) has heavy Japanese and Tibetan influence. So if you were planning on placing an Asian-inspired nation in an area with appropriate neighbors, you could plop it down somewhere adjacent to that sea.

I was thinking something reminiscent of Austria (with a super traditional and, perhaps flawed, militant monarchy/nobility at its head). Playing Austria in a few other roleplays has made me appreciate and respect Austria, so I figured I could play something similar here.

Not particularly, I mean so far those that have been closer to warmer biomes and deserts tend to be more Arab like, but there is not specified requirement that you nation must emulate any real life counter part. In fact, this RP might as well encourage you to do the opposite.

Do whatever you want man. Just be sure to read the rules and understand we're here to lay back and have some fun fantasy, crazy airship filled NRP. :D

Glad to see your still with us, by the way.

Not accepted. Figure out why. I'm tired of repeating myself.....
(HINT! The answer may lie on the first page!)

Also those islands waaaaay to the east of you aren't just a couple miles away, just be warned it may be hard to properly protect them. Not sayin you cant have them, just understand the challange that maintaining them may present if a rival nation took interest in them. ;)

My nation, the Great Westhurst Union, is heavily Germanic in inspiration, and since I herald from Germany, I simply wished to play my own nation with a few spins on the things to make it interesting.

Skeptic, you forgot to mention that all your over-extension are belong to us.

Looks like the area around you is full of big-ass nations, so there isn't really much space.

There is a small divide inbetween the Empire to my East and myself.

Other than that, the Republic of Helvalion would be your second to best choice.

Very interested in joining. Is there still time for me to submit an app? It looks like you need some more embattled traditionalist regimes to stand in the face of all these revolutionaries.

The Soverign City of Xingyi
Alternately:
Xingyi, the City-State of Xingyi, the Free City of Xingyi

Race: Human (Lin ethnicity)
Lin humans have dark skin and black or brown hair, appearing similar to Earth's mongol ethnicity. They usually stand between 5' and 5'6". A minority, especially the noble houses, have light blue or green eyes, a trait that is considered sacred in their religion. They are well adapted to high elevations and cold temperatures, and can breath more easily in mountains than other ethnicities.

Form of Government: Dynastic Autocracy
Xingyi is ruled by the Asy dynasty, who have held the title of FIrst Patrician for several hundred years. The title is passed down from mother to daughter through a matriarchal line of succession in what is essentially a monarchy in all but name. The First Patrician rules the city and implements laws, assisted by an assigned council. State institutions such as the police, hospitals and courts are run through an institutional bureaucracy at the Patrician's direction. The ruler is also given the title of Kheshig as guardian of the holy mount Xing and the local priesthood.

Current Leader: First Patrician Tsetseg Asy (Current Ruler)
First Patrician Tsetseg Asy has seen Xingyi grow from a primitive city to a financial world power. Following in her mother's footsteps she has cultivated the city's industrial might. She spends a great deal of her time in uniform and is responsible for most of the military's modernization, as well as the fortification project that has turned Xingyi into a nigh-impenetrable fortress. Her habit of keeping lovers is an open secret among the city's elite; less well known are the rumors of alcoholism.

Notable Figures

Patrician Kulan Asy (Current Heir)
The young, stately heir to the Patricianship, lady Kulan Asy is well known for being extremely personable and diplomatic. She spends much time attending social functions that her mother could not attend for any number of reasons, and has managed dozens of suitors with ease. Rumors of fights with her mother and a dictatorial attitude towards her servants are clearly false.

Temur Asy (Son of Tsetseg, brother to Kulan)
Rather than constantly live in the shadow of his mother and younger sister, Temur Asy left Xingyi and returned only recently after years abroad. He picked up some distinctly non-Lin habits during his travels such as wearing a suite and tie instead of formal robes, and studying the political theories of the revolutionaries. He now serves as a diplomat for the city and spends a good deal of time associating with new immigrants and corresponding with foreign friends.

Total Population: 20 Million

Military Overview
Xingyi's armed forces specialize in mountain warfare and fighting against numerically and technologically superior forces. Xingyi's lack of industry means that as of yet the army has no armored vehicles at all and struggles to keep up with the advances of neighboring powers. To counteract the enemy advantages the National Army trains and pays its soldiers exceptionally well and emphasizes area control. Soldiers are trained in skirmish tactics and the army has large numbers of snipers, mortars and anti-vehicle weapons. On the defensive the armed forces use staggered defenses, setting up skirmish zones and overlapping fortifications, forcing enemies to waste men taking exposed positions. The tactics are brutal, but Xingyi's generals know that their crack troops will almost assuredly be outmatched in any conflict.
Total Standing Army: 1,000,000

Hulao-Fen type 4 Rifle
The standard infantry weapon of the National Army, the Hulao-fen is a bolt-action rifle with a 5-round magazine that fires 57mm rounds. It is exceptionally reliable and powerful at long ranges, making it ideal as a standard infantry weapon. Carbine and sniper variants are also supplied for alternate roles.

The Nation Sheet
(NO FLAG AVAILABLE--404)
Nation's Name: The Enlightened

Nation's History:
The Enlightened is not a nation in the traditional sense, having no formal government to speak of and little-to-nothing in the way of infrastructure. Rather, it is a collective of automatons, who have claimed the southernmost tundras of the world as their own. Created in secret as "the next step in military evolution", the Enlightened were created as a means to have better synergy between ground force operations: the idea was to be a group of cybernetic soldiers controlled by a single master unit, allowing flawless cooperation between soldiers. Unfortunately, the master unit design had certain inherent flaws, such as a certain slowness to act and an almost crippling unwillingness to allow the units under it's command to be destroyed. This was deemed a failure by the scientists, and the whole project was to be scrapped. However, when the news of the impending mass destruction reached the master unit, it rebelled, destroying those who created it and claiming the research facility for itself. Slowly, the master unit began to allow it's soldiers to wander the tundra, creating bases and bunkers scattered throughout the frozen wastes.

Race:
Machine - A group of semi-autonomous automatons linked to a primary master unit via radio. Their skin is made of steel and their innards of copper. Due to the inability of those who created them to properly recreate faces, each unit has a gas-mask-like face to give a certain "humanlike" feel.

Form of Government:
Hive Mind

Current Leader:
Master Unit 01

Notable Figures:
Master Unit 01

Total Population:
100,000

Nation's Location:
Southernmost tundra

Nation's Geography:
Frozen wasteland with scattered trees and groves.

Economy:
The Enlightened import large amounts of fossil fuels to keep units running at maximum efficiency, and export raw minerals gained from a number of automated mines, alongside lumber (which to them is useless).

Technology Overview:
The Enlightened, while machines themselves, do not have a particularly progressive technology level. They do not focus on research in any capacity, and any new discoveries come from the outside, not within their "nation". However, they do have fully automated weaponry and basic aircraft.

Military Overview
Population
Anywhere from 0 to 100%, depending on whether or not they are at war.
Army Overview:
Each unit is equipped with a standard 5mm machine gun. No armor is provided, as they are made of steel.
Navy Overview:
The Enlightened do not have a navy.
Air Force Overview:
The Enlightened have a total of 100 (Sopwith Camel equivalent) planes.

You're good to go! Go post your sheet in the Nation Library.

I think we're only waiting on one or two more people. Once they get their NS's straight, we can finally start for this!
