<Snipped quote by LegendBegins> Probably more like a new post for every major feature. Otherwise people will ignore the thread as simply being further comments, and not new news.
Not if we lock it and retitle it every time the next "version" of the Guild occurs.

I think you're overthinking it. It may seem like needless clutter, but a single topic for every newsworthy feature is probably going to be more effective than some complex system to ensure the same topic can be reused.

Though, it wouldn't be complex. When the Guild updates, place a description as the latest post, and retitle the thread with the current Guild version and the date.

Or you can stop worrying about whether to use one topic or two, and just use an announcement on the home page itself like was initially suggested. A lot of people aren't going to pay attention to if there is a new post in the news section (especially when this thread is almost definitely going to hide the actual update thread as latest post). They will pay attention to a big announcement box in their face (such as when it said "guild is having difficulties etc" before the rewrite).

I'm in favor of putting updates on the home page like we used to. Though, I would also make the box able to be X'd out of, so it won't clutter the space if already read.

People don't typically read the news section and in the end this very thread is where the listing of updates goes. I know when I notice a difference in something on the guild one of the first places I head is here and typically my question is answered within a page or two of scrolling.

Just noticed this now but thanks for the small indicator dot for threads we've posted in (but not subbed to). :3

Ah, yeah, that's what was different. EDIT:
<Snipped quote by KeysOfKayes> - Just fixed the system so that it doesn't try to resize images if they're within the 150 width x 200 height constraint. I re-uploaded your avatar and it works.
Huh, for some reason when I tried re-uploading it myself, it still didn't work. Renamed the file, deleted old avatar first, etc etc. What did work, however, was reducing the image size from 150x150 to 145x145. Perhaps your size constraint check is looking for <150x200, instead of =/<?

Yes, but people don't generally read this thread, as evidenced by those who ask why certain thing have changed without reading the context.

<Snipped quote by BBeast> Such as a sticky topic in news that is updated when announcements are made.
I was meaning something more like how Mahz announced things to us before the creation of this thread- a text-box on the main page, not in a thread, up the top, containing important news. Such measures would only be used for important announcements, of course, such as letting everyone know why their avatars have all disappeared. Then again, I'm not sure how people who haven't been following this thread have reacted to the disappearance of their avatars, or if more people are following this thread than I realise.

Agreed. It wasn't very pretty but it worked.

My bad. I appear to have missed page 45 until just now. I came in at page 44 from a notification and once I reached the end I failed to notice that there was another page, so I just replied to page 44.

It's fine. But I do believe that we should integrate it prior to pushing any major updates.

A text box like that might be useful, but only if its kept up-to-date. and if empty, not visible to anyone. Perhaps it ought to auto-purge after say, ten days? hmm... we just got a strange idea that we wonder what others think of... Might it be a worthy idea to have a profile-set indicator people can add concerning sections they'll use? Something that'll pop up below the online status (if applicable)? example end result: Name Avatar X posts in Y days Online n days ago Casual & 1x1 player

I decided to hide old-system avatars so that people would wonder where their avatar went and visit their avatar settings. At which point they'd see a special message I show people with old-system avatars and upload their avatar into the new system (which removes their avatar from the old-system, hiding the special message forever). I'll bring back the spirit of the frontpage news box as an actual notification that lets me announce new features (that matter) and link to some post where I ramble on in more detail (if applicable).
