If we can drum up a few more persons worth of interest, I'll throw an OOC up. I can post a preliminary Character Sheet nowish, though, if you guys want to work on those.

You have my tentative attention. My first thought was a planeswalker from a homebrew plane (I've been working on a similar idea for a while), but then I realised that I wouldn't quite be able to translate that into spells that have already been seen as far as we know. So now I'm thinking - haven't decided if I'm properly interested - along the lines of a Zendikar-born 'walker who has strong connections to the Expeditionary Houses (meaning their magic would focus on Allies in particular). First thoughts are white, green, and either red or blue.

Sounds similar to Vronos.

What did you have in mind regarding your homebrew? I'm sure we can work something out if need be. Anywho, here's a preliminary CS for those interested.
For spells, about ten is a good number, I feel. Six with a CMC of 4 or less, three with a CMC of 5-7, one with a CMC of 8 or more. This would include any equipment you want your character to use, as well as their summons. I would stay away from anything Legendary at the moment, as well.

Motara, a cityscape plane home to the Colleges of Riggery and the Everstone Oracles. It focuses on artifacts of all colours, shapes and sizes, and manipulation of fate through prophecy. My character would be blue and red, specialising in Riggers and the "assemble a Contraption" mechanic. Motaran Riggers expend resources (mostly mana), time and effort to assemble Contraption artifacts; each Rigger assembles a different, specifically named, Contraption.

Ah, the greatest Red Herring in Magic history. Even if such cards don't exist, we can easily give you enough "signature spells" regarding artifacts (and Scry, I'm thinking?) as makes no difference. The flavor of the card is inconsequential, just the spell really matters. I like the character idea though, it's neato burrito. Blue and Red are both artifact colors, as they are Scry colors. Neat stuff.

Which is why I changed plans to Allies instead. Much easier to recognise and use in a collaborative setting. Also probably easier to write. Besides, it wouldn't make sense for a Motaran 'walker to avoid using the skills and abilities taught and mastered in their home plane. Also, yeah, Scry is one of the other Motaran mechanics.

Fair enough. I take it such a character would be summon-heavy? Well, regardless, I suppose I'll know when I see it. I'm considering breaking the spells down by rarity rather than CMC, but I'll keep thinking about this. Any and all suggestions are welcome.

Most definitely. Alternatively, perhaps only a small band of followers could be needed at a time, rather than calling a whole pile of summoned fighters to your side. Saves on characters who lead larger forces; perhaps mine only needs a small strike team?

Fair enough. I'll decide based on how the other characters run their own tactics. No sense in doing the exact same as others in the same colours.

Name: Oldus Vol Age: 23 Gender: Male Race: Human Class: Shaman Home Plane: Ravnica Colors: Red Green White Personality: Oldus has a very interesting history that has left him with equal parts fierceness and inquisitiveness. Both wildness, and a sense of justice. He is quick to defend the weak, and equally quick to punish the wicked. He relishes combat, but also conversation. His thirst for knowledge is unfortunately often overridden by his impulsive nature. Though he desires to know about the world around him, he'll often take action before considering the possible outcomes. This leaves him with a lot of missed opportunities and a fear of regretting his actions. Though he has been in the "civilized" world for over ten years, he still lacks any sense of modesty or decorum. He is often berated for his habit of nonchalantly stripping naked regardless of who is in the room, and will leave his home in various states of undress. History: Oldus is the son of Burning Tree Clan's emissary to the other Guilds. His father is unknown. His mother carried him in her travels until he was four years old, and he saw more in his formative years than most children who are reared in the Gruul clans. "Survival of the fittest" holds true, even for the youngest of the clans, and Oldus was one of the fittest indeed. He had something that many Gruul lack. A potential for intellect. He may not have been the biggest or the fastest or the strongest, but he outsmarted those who were, and grew into his strength and speed and size in his own time. By the time he was sixteen, still a child by many culture's standards, he was already an accomplished shaman and warrior. And it was during this year that everything changed for him. A raiding party from his clan clashed with a Boros regiment defending the crumbling edge of one of the districts. Though the Boros were much fewer in number, they slaughtered the Gruul warriors by the tens. Most of his comrades cursed and grew angrier, but Oldus alone paused to think why they fought so. Were they stronger? No. They were mostly men, and in fact the Gruul had many larger beings with them. He saw, from a distance, the reason for their overwhelming victory. High above the battle, there flew an angel. Some would get superstitious and think that they were blessed, but Oldus again differed. He listened, and he heard that she was calling commands down at them. He realized that she saw the battle from a different perspective. One that the Gruul lacked completely. Oldus waited until she directed her gaze to a different part of the battlefield, and then hefted his spear, and lunged it with a spell to strengthen and guide it. It struck and injured her in the wing, and he rushed to where she plummeted. Instead of striking a killing blow, Oldus spoke to the angel, as the battle raged on nearby. He asked her questions, and the two spoke until the sound of swords axes and spells halted. She told him about the white magic that she knew, and he was curious. Neither knew what would become of the battle, until a Boros search party came to find her. She celebrated their victory while Oldus was taken as a prisoner, destined, it would seem, to an Azorious trial. But it was the angel who intervened. She offered him a place under her in the Boros Legion, and he happily accepted that in lieu of interrogation and ultimate execution. And so he was trained in the fighting tactics and battle magic used by the Boros, and soon fought beside them as a battlemage. His comrades soon forgot where he came from, and he was accepted into their ranks as if he had always been there. He fought beside them for the ten years that the Boros require of any recruit, and then left with the wages he had earned. Though he had grown to love and respect his comrades, his wild upbringing was always at odds with the strict discipline of the Boros. Still, the Legion had instilled in him a desire to protect the people of Ravnica's districts, and he continued to fight for them when necessary. Spells: Searing Spear Warleader's Helix Aurelia's fury Firewing Phoenix(more a companion than a summon spell, if that's okay). Enlarge Sword of Kaldra(Maybe not, it's a bit OP for this, I think).

Name: Ada Levane Age: 28 Gender: Female Race: Human Class: Soldier Home Plane: Theros Colors: Green White Personality: Ada is a headstrong and courageous person who doesn't hesitate to speak her mind. She is a very noble warrior and refuses to use tactics such as trickery to best her opponents and believes in a group of soldiers with good equipments and auras than one built up via dishonorable tactics such as the weakening of others. She will defend those in need, unless they oppose her cause, then she will ignore them until they are a problem, and then deal with them with the swift ferocity of the forests of Theros. History: Having been raised in a small village on the edges of the forest, Ada started learning some basic boons and summoning spells from an elder in the village. It was very basic green magic, but she grew up practicing it. She grew up to become a soldier for humanity as the gods started becoming more and more active. She trained hard in the forests, getting in touch with many of the magical creatures and learning new spells that ways. It wasn't until a hydra attacked her own village, though, that her spark ignited, in a quite violent flash of green, she summoned a very simple creature, but embued it with a very feral boon that allowed it to grow to overpower the hydra. This was a formidable feat for a young girl of 22. Soon after, she left home for the plane of Ravnica, searching for stronger magic to protect the people she cared about. Ada soon met those of the Selesnya guild. It was a small group, but they taught her in the ways of white magic that would compliment the natural magic that she already knew. It was also on the plane of Ravnica that she met and trained her faithful caracal companion. They were a formidable force together. Ada left the plane of Ravnica after five years, having become a strong soldier of the light and forest. She returned to her home of Theros and was excited to teach her old old master the ways of the Selesnyan elves, but sadly in the time she was gone, he had passed. Ada wished she had been there, but she did not mourn his loss. All good soldiers have their time. Spells: Aspect of Hydra Trained Caracal (More of a companion than a summon, if that's cool.) Defend the Hearth Setessan Oathsworn Eyes in the Sky Centaur's Herald Fated Intervention Mischeif and Mayhem Risen Sanctuary Horncaller's Chant

Not to throw a wrench in anything so soon, Drake, but if I recall correctly, I don't believe there are elves on Theros.
