It was night when it happened. Sleep was not coming easy to Terraline as she lay in bed, her hair sprawled messily over the pillow. The room was silent with the exception of the sound of the ticking clock. It was often that the girl stayed up, deep in her own thoughts. She knew she probably thought too much into everything. With a sigh, she sat up and picked up a notebook off her side table. She had written at least twenty songs in here. Whenever she needed something to do, she'd write a song. They always came easily to her. Terraline relocated to the window sill so the moonlight would cast upon the page. As she smoothed down her night gown and readied her pencil, the sound of a sudden thud came from outside her room. Terraline jumped to her feet and moved to the door faster than a person normally would. Someone else might stop and wonder in fear if a robber was in their home. Terraline was not the type. She threw caution to the wind on most occasions. She opened the door to find her dark-haired brother getting to his feet. His piercing blue eyes met hers as he towered over her. "Go back to bed." He said simply, his expression cold and empty. "No Xander, what are you doing?" She demanded. Xander was a hard boy to understand. Though closer with him than with her sister, she would not be able to guess his thoughts in a million years. There were times he'd be smiling and charismatic to people then alone or with his family he never smiled. All the girls in school were head over heels for him. She guessed he fit the tall, dark and mysterious boy girls swooned over. He seemed able to make anyone he want like him at any time. No one even bothered trying to run against him for class president. Intelligent, handsome and charming, what more could one want in a person? Terraline begged to differ. Something had always been off about him. Maybe it was in the same way her sister was insane but at a more subtle level. Something was wrong with him. He narrowed his eyes in annoyance at her inquiry then suddenly he was gone. She rubbed her eyes and looked left and right in shock. Where the heck did he go? She shrugged, deciding she was just tired. Terry spun on her heel to go back into her room, only to stumble at a sudden loud scream. Mom. "Mom!" Terraline bolted out of her room and down the staircase, her heart beating rapidly against her ribcage. The scene she found in the living room made her freeze midway down the stairs. There were several people in all black uniforms and masks that hid their faces completely. One of them held a small, brown-haired woman by her hair. She looked up at Terry with sad, tear-filled eyes. She began mouthing things as a knife was brought to her neck and her head was roughly yanked back by her hair. Run. I love you. Blood spilled over her silk button-down as the knife dug into the flesh of the woman's neck. Terraline felt like she forgot how to move or speak. Her gaze traveled to the unmoving male that had once acted as her father as the woman felt lifeless to the floor. She took a step back and cried out as she tripped. Her body painfully hit a couple stairs before she sat up in time to find her parents murderers staring at her. "The order was to eliminate the offspring whether or not they showed any signs." came a voice, Terry wasn't sure which one of them said it. "Roger that," someone else answered. She hastily got back on her feet and climbed up the stairs, only for her a bulky hand to wrap around her ankle and drag her back down. Terraline screamed and kicked at her attacker as they dragged her down the stairs. "Don't worry, little girl, it won't hurt too bad." The man grabbed her and sat her on her knees. She had never felt a stronger grip in her life. A knife was placed to her neck, the cool metal slightly digging into her skin, "Any last words?" A sharp pain entered her arm as she tried to get up despite the odds. Her gaze fell on the large needle entering her arm. Movement had suddenly become impossible. She felt as if her limbs were frozen. "Aw can't we play a little first with her first? She's so cute." A shudder went through Terraline's spine as a rough finger caressed her cheek. "No. There's two more in here somewhere and we got around five more houses to do before the end of the night." came a woman's voice. The finger traveled down her chin and neck, "Maybe I can just keep her for myself then..." "Kill the bitch already, god damn it!" groaned an impatient male. "Fine!"The coolness disappeared from her neck. Out of the corner of her eye, she watched as a knife was brought fast through the air and toward her neck. She shut her eyes tight, tears threatening to spill. However she felt no sudden pain in her neck. She waited a few seconds before opening her eyes. There was no longer anyone holding her. The door was wide open as more people poured into the room. With now blurry vision, all she could do was watch as figures moved around the room, unable to decipher anything they were doing. Though still paralyzed, she fought to move. Where was Xander? Josie? Why was this happening? Maybe this was all a dream. Her eyelids became heavier and heavier as darkness came to drown her. The room disappeared into blackness. When she opened them again, she found her body under a warm, white blanket and her head on a big, soft pillow. The room around her was a bright white. Nausea and dizziness swept over her as she slowly attempted to sit up, her long hair unfortunately falling blocking half her vision as it messily fell over her head. "Now, now don't sit up too fast, dear. You almost died, you know that?" Terry stared groggily as a young woman took her shoulders and laid her back down. "They got you good with that poison." Confusion made her head hurt twice as much as it had been already, "What? Where am I?" She asked softly. The memories suddenly hit her like a speeding train. Her parents bloody lifeless bodies... Her mother's last words... It really all happened. Tears threatened to spill from her eyes but she hastily glanced up at the bright ceiling light to keep them inside. The woman put some ice on her head, "Oh where are my manners? Welcome to Riverwood Academy: your new home." She smiled sadly at her, patting her head, "whether you like it or not I'm afraid."

Ryuu sat at the edge if her bed, singing her legs. She looked at her hands, observing her long nails. They resembled talons and the skin around them was scaly skin, an emerald green color. The same color as the scaly wings protruding from her back, hidden under Ryuu's hoodie. Ryuu smoothed her soft pink hair back as she slid off her bed. She began to walk towards the room, where the newcomer had been carried. She silently slid the door open, stepping inside. Ryuu stood next to the door, trying not to intrude, merely curious.

Looking at the floor Lucas slowly makes his way to the room the newcomer is in, all the while grumbling to himself. "Hope the newbie isn't a "normal", man I swear there are too many "normals" around only that pink girl what was her name Riyro, Ryor, Ryuu isn't a "normal". I think it was Ryuu." When Lucas reaches the room and and lifts his head to see if anyone had made it there before him, he notices Ryuu standing in the door way. "Hey pinky what was your name again? I can't seem to remember."

Cammy shuffled along the hallways, pulling on her shoe as she went. She had been napping when they brought the new girl in and wished she hadn't been. She would have liked to have been there when she woke up. "Oh well" she sighed to herself as she turned the corner, noticing Lucas ahead of her. She followed quietly behind him as he muttered to himself about normals. It was slightly comforting to know that he thought of her as normal. She didn't even consider herself normal. Hell, the word "normal" felt weird to her now. As Lucas stepped inside the room and questioned Ryuu about her name, Cammy squeezed between them and took a few steps towards the bed. She made sure not to get too close though, knowing that this girl had been through an ordeal and had just woken up in a strange place, surrounded by strange people. She didn't want to frighten her more than she was already. "Hi" she said, almost sheepishly with a little wave, "I'm Cammy. How are you feeling?"

"We'll see you soon, sweetie."
Those were the last words Dolor Obulier's parents told her the moment Riverwood took her away. It felt like centuries ago but in reality, only six years had passed since that faithful morning, when men in hazmat suits simply knocked on her door and told her dear old mother and father that their daughter had to be taken away for 'safe keeping'. Keeping hazardous children locked up like dogs, trying to keep the general public safe from themselves. Whenever it was explained to her like this, she felt worse then the previous time. Safe? To keep people safe, who had done nothing to benefit her, she was the one that had to suffer? What a load of bullshit. And in all honesty, she wasn't even mad at the academy for taking her in so suddenly, Dolor was more angered towards her parents. They just gave her up like nothing was wrong, they never wrote letters, or called, or even bothered to check up on their daughter. Probably too concerned with their normal child to bother checking up on their older one. It was like they sent her on a vacation of some sort, as if she was meant to be enjoying her time her. Regardless, Dolor had to deal with what she had, and soon she had adapted to her lifestyle at Riverwood Academy. This place seemed to get more students every day too, so it wasn't like it was some sort of ghost town. Plus the occasional fights that broke out were fun. Ever see a human tree go up against fly? No? It's hilarious, trust me. This place wouldn't be a permanent gig, not forever. The young girl was shuffling out of bed, stretching her arms out and moving her hair out from her face before realizing the small droplets falling on her face. Ugh, again? Her bed and pillow cases were completely soaked, her hair a large body of water rather then its usual dark locks. Dolor quickly snatched up her bedspread, hurrying out the room dragging them. Shit, shit. She had to get these dry, now, before classes started up. Plus, she had to get dressed out her PJs. Rushing out the room, she barley missed bumping into someone as her body buzzed out into an array of dust, each particule rejoining as her body reformed. The sheet however, didn't help, as it ended up wrapping around the other frame, pulling them down. "Crap!" She yelped, quickly stopping to help unravel them. "I'm so sorry, fuck,I didn't see you there."

From a dark corner emerged one of the eldest members of the academy. Of course, most everyone knew him as his new persona, "Black." Though this was not his true given name, he preferred if people would merely refer to him as that. He had some issues with his family. In fact, he didn't even mention it. As far as he knew, no one had heard anything about his past, or his name, and he intended to keep it that way. Regardless there was this new girl... he looked her over and sighed. She was still pretty young. Her being here ultimately meant a tragedy had just occurred in her life, poor thing. He looked around at the others in the room and smiled, addressing each one as he approached the newcomer. "Lucas, remembering your friend's names is an important and challenging feat. We are here because we are the only ones who are willing to help and protect each other, and becoming more of a family is a great step in achieving these wishes. Ryuu, I understand your concerns, but please, do not be so furtive in this situation. First of all, it is important for this girl to feel welcome to her new home. Secondly, imagine if she were oblivious to your presence, then caught you in her sights. I mean no offense, but to her, someone who we can generally assume has no background of knowledge with mutants, the shock could lead to even great issues amongst us. Cammy, I understand the human need to sleep, and I understand our days have been stressful, but they're no less busy. Be selective with your naps, as we are in danger every minute of every day... by the way, I don't watch you while you sleep if that's what you're thinking. I merely was passing by your room when I received word of the newcomer's arrival. Maria... good morning, I apologize for being so critical," he said, bowing when he reached the nurse, "You are well aware, however, of how important I feel our image and actions are." He turned back to the others, "I must apologize to you all to. I mean no ill will of course; I only wish to give you benevolent and harmless advice. Lastly then, hello young one. Welcome to Riverwood. My name is Black, and it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. Should you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them," he concluded. Finally he sat down in one of the chairs in the nurses suite, waiting for something else to happen.

Pamela was awake. She never slept much. It was hard at night, or any other time, to sleep. Her dreams were often weird and cryptic, which just caused her to have a headache. Of course, her abilities caused her to have a headache more often then not, so she was use to the pain. t didn't mean she had to like it. Her dog, Lance, looked up at her, and gave a whine. She smiled, rubbing the chocolate brown lab, and rose, grabbing his leash where she had left t, over the bed railing, and buckled it on. While she could technically 'See' with her abilities, Lance still helped her. At times, her mind and sight could be confusing, and Lance help her not run into things. "Alright boy, We'll go for a walk and then some food"

"Oh yeah that was your name Ryuu." Lucas smiles happily now remembering Ryuu's name. "Yeah welcome to Riverwood if you ever need me which I doubt. You can find me either outside near the flowers or in the kitchen eating peanut butter. Oh and before I forget I am Lucas Ursaine." Lucas leaves the room and heads towards the kitchen. Grumbling to himself again as he walks,"You know what I'm going to go take a nap in a bush." So instead of going to the kitchens he walks outside and crawls inside of a bush and promptly falls asleep, snoring loudly.

Ryuu stepped further into the room. Black was right. It would be better if Ryuu did not hide, though Ryuu still didn't want to get too close. Her nails were quite sharp after all. She didn't want to accidentally cut anything. " Hello, I'm Ryuu Tatsuo, I hope you'll enjoy Riverwood," Ryuu told Terry. She hoped that Terry would soon feel at home in Riverwood.

A teenage male sat in the shadowy corner of a local coffee shop. People inside seemed to ignore him, or even notice him for that matter. That's a good thing, because if one looked closely at the young adult, they might notice that he was a mutant. Little particles of sand hung statically in the air around him, barely noticeable. Christopher Valentine was on a mission. The young man had heard that Riverwood Academy was nearby and he was searching for information about it. He had been there all morning and it had taken quite a while to hear where it was. Valentine left the shop briskly, finally, he had made it. Being on the run for a year had been brutal. The X-Force was always on his ass. He still had nightmares of the people he had to kill in order to escape. Chris noticed that the X-Force was not keen on using non-lethal ways of capturing mutants, that didn't care if they died. Valentine finally found the school and was filled with relief, the running was over. He was never so glad to see a school in his life. Chris walked inside and looked around, hoping for some guidance. He hoped they would be as welcoming as hoped they would be. "Um, hello?" he called out, the placed seemed quiet.

Nick sat in his room, wondering about what to do. He'd been taken to Riverwood academy a few days ago, and had been introduced to the academy and his surrounds. He got a room to himself, which was nice. But now that he'd done all the introductory stuff, he had no idea what he had to do right now. Nick sighed and relaxed on the bed. The room was nice enough, and had enough room for all his things, of which he didn't have much. As such, it ended up as a very plain room and there wasn't much he could do about it, considering he was still technically blind... When his ability awakened, it made his life a whole lot easier, but it took a bit to get used to it. Living blind for years and then suddenly being able to sense where things were was good. Refreshing, even. That said, he still couldn't see colour. He couldn't read ink writing, nor could he see electronic screens. He knew it was good that he had, but he couldn't help missing the world of light he once had. Nick got up and stopped thinking about it. No sense in worrying about something I can't help. He thought. He decided to get up and get out of his room, taking a walk to cement his memory of the surroundings. He opened the door and walked out, closign it behind him.

Chris' sneakers squeaked as he turned to a girl's voice he heard. He took in the girl's appearance next and was quite surprised. She had sheets bundled in her hands, and her hair, well her hair was the interesting part. The girl's hair was made of water... So Riverwood was the real deal then huh? "Do you need help?" The girl asked, Valentine nodded and smiled politely, "um yeah. I just got here, and judging by your hair I'm assuming I'm in the right place? I'm a mutant too." Chris had never said the word mutant aloud, it felt foreign on his tongue. That's what he was though wasn't he? He was just some sort of freak, and the world isn't too kind to freaks. Well, he wasn't too kind back to be honest. How many people had he killed? Too many, it wasn't his fault though! They were trying to kill him, that made it justified right?

“If you’re watching this, it must be day one for you.” A girl’s voice said as the video on the screen scanned across an unfamiliar building. “That’s Riverwood, the hellhole that you’re stuck in for the rest of your life.” The girl continued as she turned the camera towards herself with a serious face before quickly breaking into laughter. “Nah, I’m kidding. It’s a bit weird here with the strange things people can do but I guess I’m one of those strange people too since my memory never lasts for longer than a week or two.” “You might be wondering who I am or rather who you are—which is kind of redundant since we are the same person—so I’ll keep things brief just in case today is a school day or you’re busy with something.” The video clip continued, this time in a bedroom. “My name is Mia and this is our bedroom. We have a roommate but to be honest, I don’t really remember her name so the next time you make this video it might be good to put it in the video. We live in some sort of school called Riverwood for people with superpowers. Sadly I’m stuck with a lame one and can’t shoot lasers out of my eyes or talk to animals but I guess my power is useful.” Mia said with a slight tone of jealousy. “Anyways, I’ve recorded a few more videos with more information when you have time but for now finding one of the older kids would be a good start. Good luck Mia.” Turning her camera off as the video clip reached the end, Mia looked around the room which was supposed to be her bedroom with slight curiosity, deducing that she must have been a bit of a clean freak based off the condition of her side of the room. The concept of her often losing her memory was an unsettling one as she thought about all the students and teachers that she once considered as friends or someone she detested and knowing that without her memories wouldn’t be able to discern the difference between the two groups. She didn’t want to leave her room. Although she was already very confused and unsure even about herself, she knew far too well that once she stepped out the only place she knew as a comfort things would only get worse. The idea of crawling back into bed and under the covers was appealing to her and wished to do just that as she wished this nightmare of hers away but knew that it probably would be unwise knowing that soon or later someone was bound to go search for her. With a sigh slid off the foot of her bed and walked towards the door. Opening it, she was glad to see that it was empty. Taking a few steps out so that she was in the middle of the hallway, Mia looked down both sides of the hall as she wondered which way she should go. Then she heard it. It was faint at first but within seconds the distinct sound of footsteps was clear to her and not wanting to appear unsure standing in the middle of the hall quickly went back into her room and closed the door, perhaps a bit too loud that the person walking nearby would hear. “Oh god, this is stupid.” Mia mumbled as she felt her heart racing, knowing that she shouldn’t have to feel scared. “Come on Mia, you can do this. You left yourself a map with key places highlighted so that you won’t get lost. You got this girl.” Mia continued as she tried to give herself a pep talk already dreading the idea of heading back out again. However with her stomach grumbling she knew she should try and see if she could find something to eat for breakfast or find out when it was. Taking a deep breath, Mia grabbed the doorknob again and quickly left the room and closed the door behind her and chose a random direction to walk down before she could change her mind of leaving.

“Thank you again Mr. Roswell for this opportunity.” Levi said with gratitude inside the teacher’s office. “You do not know how much it excites me knowing that you and the others at Riverwood are wanting me to become a teacher. I’m am honored that you would ask but I still cannot accept the offer. I’ve thought it over this past month as you told me to do the first time you brought it up but I still cannot accept.” “It saddens me that you would say that Asher. I know you said that you are not ready or perhaps don’t see yourself as qualified for this position but my observation of you these past years make me believe that you are what we need at Riverwood.” The man said with slight displeasure after hearing Levi’s refusal. “I’ve vouched for you in front of the other teachers and they agree with me. You are the only one holding yourself back. We wouldn’t give you a teaching position right off the bat but rather let you be an assistant so that you can train yourself on becoming a teacher. I highly recommend that you take this opportunity. However, I cannot force you to do so. Think this over Asher, I don’t want to see this opportunity wasted because of a wrong decision.”
~
Walking down the hallway, Levi continued to think of what Roswell brought up. The position of becoming a teacher was appealing to him and knew that he would enjoy teaching but that ever nagging feeling of doubt was something he didn’t want to risk knowing that if he screw up while teaching it wasn’t something that would affect him but his potential students as well and being in charge of the future of a classroom of students wasn’t a position that he wanted to put himself into especially if his other side somehow made an appearance. His thoughts were momentarily halted as he heard a door slam up ahead and as he reached the door saw that it was Mia’s room. This must have been day one after a memory wipe and the poor girl was lost and confused. He wondered if he should knock on the door and see if she could use some help but decided against it, deciding to wait for her to leave her room on her own terms knowing that if he was to knock and come in it might do more harm than good and decided to continue down the hall. There was enough helpful people here so even if he wasn’t the first person to run into Mia after she left her room, someone was bound to help her.

Pamela pursed her lips for a second, shaking at the brief image that flashed through her sight, she jolted and stepped out the way as someone, a guy, came out of his room. She thought it was his room in any case. She heard the click of the door, and Lance, so excitable with others, wriggling, his butt shaking in pleasure as he sniffed around the guy. "You're meant to be well behaved, you know. I think you got wild as we traveled here" She shook her head at the dog, before turning to the guy, her pale eyes studying him. He appeared rather average looking, but...she didn't seem to be able to tell. He didn't have a clear image of himself, and that was how Pamela figured out what people looked like. He had bandages over his eyes, and perhaps that effected how he saw things. Saw himself. She frowned. "Sorry. I nearly walked into you. I'm Pamela, and this ball of fur is Lance. He like a guild dog. Just energetic"

"Ah" Nadia said as she came across a huge building. The gate was opened and the walls seem to stretch on for miles. She blinked and looked at the building curiously. For some reason, she felt the need to go inside it. Like as if she would find something for her inside. She stepped into the strange building, pulling away a few leaves from her hair and trying to make herself seem presentable. She had been wondering in a forest for days so she most probably do not look good. She looked around and saw some people there, perhaps they were staying in this building? Whatever the case, it didnt seem like she had to go to them at that particular moment. She wandered around and found another building within a building. She looked around, this time however, she saw classrooms. There were people inside of the classrooms and she peeked at one of them. It was empty, however, and she turned away. She soon found a toilet for girls and went inside. Looking at her reflection, she tidied her hair up and washed her face with the water. After what she assumes is as presentable as she can get, she went out and wandered around again. "I wonder where I am" she said to herself. She walked around the hallways and past some classrooms and soon, she decided to walk back to the entrance where she had came in from. Once she was there, she noticed there was a few more people. She went up to one of the students and tapped their shoulder. "Excuse me, where am I?" she asked

Rebound lay on his bed in his room, staring up at the ceiling, his arms behind his head. The look on his face was a frown, but then he almost always had a frown or some other unpleasant look on his face. No one had ever seen him smile. The best they could hope for was an expressionless face if he wasn't interested in them. That was quite often the case. He was interested in very few people here. In fact, he couldn't think of any at all... except one perhaps. But she was a special case. He sighed and sat up in his bed, smoothing his hair back behind his ears. There was already a lot of activity in the building. He'd heard that several new students would be arriving today, and one had apparently been rescued from... Them. His teeth gritted at the thought. He couldn't help but feel a sort of pity for the poor girl, but then again, who was she to him? It wasn't like there was any shortage of students here who'd had an encounter of some sort or another with..Them. He stood up, his thoughts turning down darker memories as he opened his door and stepped into the hallway, making his way down it. Memories of pain, darkness, then bright lights, needles, and worst of all, the images that They had caused him to see by use of drugs. He shivered at the memories, then shook his head roughly, his hair shaking around as he tried to shake the memories out of his mind. However, at that moment he walked straight into another student who was coming from another direction. With anyone else, they would have both fallen over, but because of his ability, he didn't even flinch as the girl's kinetic energy transferred completely into him. He pushed the hair out of his face and glared down at her, growling, "Hey! Watch where you're..." But then he stopped as he realized who he'd bumped into. The one person at this school who held any interest for him. "Oh, it's you Mia."

Waking up do to hunger pangs Lucas rolls out of the bush he was in. Falling face first on the ground he gets up, seeing the new girl and hearing her ask where she was he says,"Riverwood Academy for the medically unusual." He turns away and walks back inside heading straight for the kitchen, and upon making it to the kitchen he walks up to one of the cupboards and takes out a jar of honey labeled, "Lucas' touch and get mauled." Lucas then opens it walks back outside and begins to eat the honey with apparent pleasure.

Ris put the book back where he had grabbed it from. He sighed as he remembered the twists and turns he had endured as he had read the novel. He might just pick it up again in a few weeks. He bent down to pick up his stuff from where he had left it and he checked to see if his feet were still touching the ground and not metal. The last time he did that, the poor girl had been in the infirmary for more than a week. It was not his fault though that he could not control his power. He tried every day to contain it, but failed to direct its currents. He grabbed his bag and walked out of the library, the sun shining into his eyes. He moved his right hand to block it out as he moved towards the dorms, not wanting to give the faculty another excuse to lecture him about control, when they did not know in how to contain him. He carefully made his way that way, hoping not to touch someone and cause any problems.

Nick jumped slightly as someone came into his range, surprised at there being someone. "No, I'm sorry." Nick said as she apologised. "It's fine." Surprisingly enough, it was a girl. And even more surprisingly... "Oh my god, is that a dog?" Nick asked. And indeed, there stood a Labrador, looking at him with inquisitive eyes. Nick bent down to pat it and it nestled against his hand. Nick was really happy, though. He loved dogs. They loved to run up to you and check you out. And they sometimes they liked to tackle you -especially the big ones- but hey, that was part of the charm, right? "Oh, where are my manners." Nick said suddenly. He realised that he hadn't introduced himself. "My name's Nick." He said, standing up. "I'm an average blind guy with something a little special! Though; wait..." He thought for a minute. Riverwood was a place for people with something a little special, meaning that he was actually kind of normal here. "Well, everyone here has something special, so I'm just an average blind guy here; but nice to meet you, Pam." Nick said, grinning. "Can I call you Pam?"
