Brief Personality: The one word which describes Maria best begins with a B and ends with -itch. She couldn't really care less for others unless they are actually helping. If they have a use, then Maria will like them and only if they have a use. Maria's moral compass doesn't quite point north nor south so she is willing to do what she needs to to survive just short of killing an unarmed person. That is, unless said unarmed person attacked first. In that case, they are as good as dead after getting the shit punched out of them.
Background: Maria was born into a world which she spent only a third of her life in. she was ten when the bombs fell and her entire World was torn apart like paper in a shredder. She survived out of the millions, nay billions of people who died. One can only imagine what it must have been like for the young Maria to be thrown into a world where laws didn't exist anymore, where murder was normal, and where her parents were nothing more than a burden, an anachronism to a time when morals mattered. Maria was lucky to have survived even a year in the care of her parents who trusted everybody they came across unfaultingly only for them to rob them blind every time. Eventually the three came across a group of survivors who put an end to Maria's foolish parents.

For nearly a year Maria hated the people who saved her. They called themselves 'The Mountaineers' and took Maria out of the mostly abandoned New England further south following the Appalachian Mountains. She was like a pet to them, a creature they could raise to do whatever they wanted. Nobody would expect the tiny waif of a child having stolen your food and water after sitting in an abandoned building crying for her parents ya know. And so, the Mountaineers raised Maria to be bait for those who still had the morality to help a sad child. They taught her how to use a bow, skin an animal, and hunt prey silently. Eventually Maria came to realize that the Mountaineers were, twisted though their morals were, possibly the best case scenario of meeting survivors. Eventually Maria outgrew being a crying waif and became a fawningly beautiful woman who would travel with the poor lonely man who had wondered through the city for 'protection'.

Maria eventually fell in love with Marcus, a roughshod man compared to the gentler men in the mountaineers. Marcus couldn't care less for survivors who wondered the street hoping for a kind soul to help. He knew there was no such thing in this new world and he made no exceptions. But, he had always had a soft spot for Maria, the girl he had saved from an almost certain death with her parents. He was twenty-one when the bombs fell and took to drinking early after but was rescued from a pit of dispair by his friends and formed the Mountaineers. Not too long after they met Maria and rescued her as well for Marcus knew he couldn't leave her with parents who weren't willing to give up on foolish morals. But Maria loved him anyway for he had been the most amazing person she knew.

Their love didn't last long though. The Mountaineers finally got further south only to encounter raiders who attacked them. Many of both groups were injured including Maria who had gotten grazed by a bullet striking across her left shoulder. Marcus and six of the thirteen members of the Mountaineers were fatally wounded and buried in shallow graves marked only by a pile of stones over them. The Mountaineers fell apart without Marcus and eventually Maria took to traveling alone for a long time. Maria traveled for a good year before coming back to what one could consider a sort of civilization. It was a trading post of a sorts in Northern Florida that Maria had stopped at where she traded some pelts and a few damaged books for supplies. On her way in Maria met Joy, a young woman who had been born into the New World unlike Maria.

Maria easily realized how useful a girl like Joy was especially for somebody like Maria who hunted for her food rather than take supplies from others. A steady supply of food and drinking water meant that, so long as she pulled her own weight, Joy was a use to Maria. Joy happened to be on her way out when Maria met her and just happened to need somebody who was capable of teaching her how to hunt and cook food properly. Maria happend to fit the bill so Joy came with her and left the trading post for the wilderness. A year later, Maria and Joy were once again near civilization. Particularly a place only thirty miles away, a trading post often called Knight's Hold. Few people ever really speak of what the name could possibly mean but it could relate to a couple of bandits who call themselves Knights in the area.

Any Unsusual Traits? Does it Show Physically?: Maria has sharp growths of bones on the top of her head which extend about two inches out of her hair. She has similar growths on her elbows and knuckles but the growths on her knuckles are more thicker bones rather than growths. Her knuckles have a more limited degree of movement due to the thicker bones but she haas grown use to them.
Weapons: A Simple hunting knife with a blade length of 6 inches, a well maintained hunting bow, and a pocket knife with a four inch blade which is double edged.
Skills: In her thirty years of life, Maria has learned quite a bit about cooking and preparing food. She can tell the difference between meat that is still slightly raw and meat that is cooked edible enough to eat. She can also start a fire easily enough and set up a wind blocker to keep the fire from blowing out. If you bring Maria any small animal, rabbits and smaller, she is capable of skining it. Maria prefers to hunt silently and when she does hunt she uses a well maintained hunting bow. She can hit a target that is moving slowly but can't actually hit a quick target or one which is moving about suddenly. Maria is also a thief from her many years with the Mountaineers.

Nomadic or sedentary: She tends to makes temporary settlements, leaving when considered unsafe to inhabit.

Weapons: A hunting rifle, a crossbow and quiver of arrows, and a dagger.

Skills: Adelaide has very good aim when it comes to a gun or bow but can resort to hand-to-hand combat if needed so. She is good at climbing trees and can often find ways to climb buildings. Her stamina is very good and she can run for long periods of time at a higher than average speed but her speed isn't her best attribute. She is able to swim as well but she's not amazing. She can read and write decently. Other than that, she has basic knowledge with medicine but usually ends up using first aid kits.

Any unusual traits? Does it show physically?: She has quite an unusual amount of strength for a woman, maybe a tad more than the average man. However, it does not seem to show physically.

Appearance: Adelaide is a tall girl at around 5'7", with long, wavy dark-brown hair that she usually pulls back into a messy ponytail. She has a fit body that's getting to be a little too thin with pale skin. She has eyes to match her dark hair. She tends to wear a black leather jacket that she's fond of.

Brief Personality: Adelaide's got a quick tongue with a sarcastic reply to everything. Although a kind and good-hearted girl, she's very hot-tempered and also very stubborn. It's hard to change her mind once she's set on something. Her mind works quickly and she's not someone to plan out things. Adelaide prefers to make up things as she goes. Nonetheless she is intelligent even though her impulsive reaction doesn't always serve her well. She is very brave and will do just about anything if someone she cares about is in danger. She is also very easily irritated by other people.

Background: When Adelaide's mother was pregnant with her, she and her husband knew they'd never get to give her the life they had wanted for her. However, the most they could do was give her a chance. They went to risky measures to get her into a secret safe zone down South. Very few people were admitted into that zone and both parents were refused. She was taken in by a pregnant woman who raised her in a gated community. One day Adelaide had been accused of stealing food and instead of killing her they shunned her out on her own at ten years old. She had been on her own ever since then until one day she came across a young boy. Reluctantly, she let him tag along with her after he asked multiple times. She currently is heading towards the ruins of New York City in hopes of finding somewhere to pick up some supplies.

Skills: Elijah is an amazing swimmer. He can swim up to speeds men have not seen before and for long
periods of time. He's also handy when it comes to lock-picking and decoding things. Also, he's a bit of a chemist when it comes to creating explosions and things of that sort. Elijah isn't a bad climber either and he's decent when it comes to aiming but he's better at using a knife. He is pretty knowledgeable about plants and animals as well. Surprisingly, he can only read a little but he has trouble sounding out still and does not know how to write.

Any unusual traits? Does it show physically?: He has webbed hands and feet that allow him to easily maneuver through water. Elijah has gills on the sides of his neck that can allow him to go underwater for a longer period of time than most people but they are not big enough to give him enough air for an outrageous amount of time. They open up only underwater and on the surface they close in response to the air.

Appearance: He's a freckle-faced, blue-eyed kid who always seems to have a smile on his face. His hair is brown and his skin is quite fair. For a boy, he is rather in shape. He's often seen wearing hoodies.

Brief Personality: Elijah is a very clever kid who enjoys all things humorous. He takes amusement very easily. He can be on the quiet side at times but he's usually in a good mood and has a positive outlook on most circumstances. He's very knowledgeable about science and street smarts. Elijah's that type of kid that likes to know all the tips and tricks to things. Despite being a young kid, he possibly understands how to survive on his own better than some adults. However his patience and maturity are not quite up to par with an adult.

Background: Adelaide found Elijah when he was around nine years old. He was found sitting on a broken street curb with absolutely no idea how he got there and with large gaps in his memory. He's been traveling with Adelaide ever since and still he's had trouble remembering where he came from. Adelaide tends to just tell people that he's her little brother to save time.

Appearance:

Standing at 5 foot and 6 inches, and weighing around one hundred and forty-six pounds, her shoulder-length hair is a shade of honey blonde, and is usually tied up into a ponytail, Her skin is fair from the lack of sunlight, and her eyes an icy blue. She can normally be seen dressed up in military gear and outfits, items she found long ago in an abandoned vault.

Brief Personality:

Laura has a cheerful and bubbly disposition that usually brightens up the people she meets. She is hardworking and honest and always completes whatever she sets out to accomplish. Down-to-earth yet mischievous, she loves teasing people she knows. Her jokes are otherwise harmless, meant more for the fun factor than anything else. She is always seen as the joker of the group, even when nobody finds her jokes funny. A trustworthy and loyal friend, she is one to confide in and a good listener. She is prone to being over-emotional at times and that can lead to impairment of judgement when making certain decisions. A character who appreciates and understand the value of having fun, she can always be seen having fun whenever she can, making the most of what she has in her current circumstances.

Backstory:

Laura was but five when the bombs fell. Born into a world she had hardly spent much time in, she was quickly ushered into another as she was ushered into an underground vault shelter together with family. These vaults were built in limited number and can could only fit so many people in them. Only those wealthy enough to purchase spots had been allowed in. Billions of those too poor to afford them died outside of the vaults when the bombs fell. She was considered of the lucky few who had managed to escape annihilation thanks to money. Money, which hardly mattered anymore. Most of the world was now a wasteland, riddled with toxic irradiated areas. She was eighteen, when a riot broke out between two groups who had very differing views on how ruling should be done in the vault. Laura and her family belonged to the minority group, and eventually lost the battle, causing the majority group to be elected the new government. They exiled their opponents, the minority, and Laura and her family were exiled from the safety of the vault.

The group was not used to the harshness of the way had turned into, and many fell prey to the harsh weather and environments, if not the bandits prowling the wastelands. What remained of the group, grew stronger, and more hardy against the new world. In this case, the saying "What does kill you makes you stronger" describes the situation perfectly. The survivors eventually grouped up together, fighting off bandits and another wild creatures. Laura lost her parents in a massive bandit raid a few years ago, and she was stricken with grief for a period of time. The band grew smaller, but eventually lucked smiled upon them as the small group chanced upon an empty vault. Exploring the vault, they eventually came across its armoury, still in fact and stocked with weapons. The group picked their share of weapons and left, now more equipped to fight off the bandits than ever. The members of the group left, trained each other in the use of guns and other survival tactics, having surived until this point in time. Eventually, the group splintered off, all walking off in their own separate ways and Laura came to wander in the wasteland, moving from settlement to settlement, looking for something what exactly, she didn't quite know yet.

Any Unusual traits? Does it show physically?: Heightened Senses and Reflexes. It proves her with an extremely keen sense of awareness and agility. It is not seen physically unless witnessed in action.

Skills: Survival skills, which include camping, hiking, cooking and hunting. She had learnt gun handling and marksmanship when she was still with the group to fight off bandits and dangerous wild creatures. She quickly discovered that she was a great shot with guns, aided by her heightened senses and reflexes. Her stamina is impressive, and she is also well-versed in close-quarters combat.

Other: She carries around a backpack containing her essential supplies.

Any unusual traits? Does it show physically?:
Chris can usually eat raw meat without getting ill, unless it is very bad. This cannot be seen on the outside.

Appearance:
Chris is six foot seven, with a slim, muscular body. He has pale skin, and short, black hair. His teeth are sharp, and fingernails are very sharp too.

Brief Personality:
Chris is shy at first, when speaking to people. He can get very angry, very quickly, and you do not want to get on the wrong side of him. Christ does not speak much, and when he does he won't speak for very long. He often has conversations with himself in order to pass time, as there usually aren't very many people to speak to. He does not care about other people and will not mind ripping them to shreds if it comes to it. Sometimes he even wants to kill people, for no reason.

Background:
Chris was born to a family in a settlement. However, it was attacked by bandits when he was 15 and he ran away, his family dead. When he was 16, someone began to look after him, only to betray him six months later. Thankfully, Chris got away, and has been nomadic ever since, rarely trusting anyone. He is currently in New England

Weapons: Bozak loads himself down with quite a few offensive tools. He keeps with him a 12-gauge hunting shotgun, which is his primary death-dealer, and a .44 magnum revolver at his side. Besides those two guns are his rather large hunting knife, his fire axe, and his pair of weathered brass knuckles. Traveling light is not a familiar concept with him.

"Bozak would take even more with him if he were not already having so much."

Skills: From past experiences that took place both before and after the war, Bozak has accrued all the necessary survival skills to live amidst the dangers of the US wasteland. Setting up camps, starting fires, hunting critters, all the good stuff. More so, over two decades of harsh traveling and violent encounters have given the man plenty of experience in hunting down mutants, both human and otherwise. He considers that his most valuable skill of all.

"To live in this world, must know how to do things. Bozak has learned how to do many things. So Bozak will always live."

Any Unusual Traits? Does it Show Physically?: As far as anyone can tell from looking, Bozak’s a normal human being. Maybe not normal personality-wise but that’s beside the point.

"Bozak is not mutant. Mutants bad. Bozak is not bad. Bozak is human."

Appearance: Bozak stands rather tall at a little over six feet, though his equipment definitely adds a bit to his height. His gut may look weighty but there’s definitely some bulk around his upper torso to offset that. He wears a gas mask over his face pretty much at all times, refusing to take it off when he’s around other folks. All that’s visible is his short, messy, dark brown hair, shaved along the back and sides. He wears an olive green tank top underneath a mess of bandoliers and pockets, exposing his tanned arms riddled with marks of the past. A pair of fingerless gloves, dark gray combat trousers, black boots, and a few more belts and pockets complete his getup.

"Bozak looking good these days."

Brief Personality: Bozak, at first, is a bit difficult to figure out. All the talking he does makes him out to be something of a hunter-survivor-philosopher combination, though the last bit can definitely be substituted with other names (psycho, thug, etcetera). He doesn’t display any direct hostility at folks he passes by but he’s definitely not a Good Samaritan right off the bat either. He leans more towards letting everyone else do their thing while he does his. If someone wants to talk to him, he’s likely to humor them for a good bit to pass the time. Although there’s some topics he’ll inadvertently render uncomfortable for whoever’s in his company. All in all, a decent man, but maybe not companion material.

"Bozak is simply who Bozak wishes to be. Some people like Bozak, others do not. Bozak is okay with this."

Background: This is actually one topic Bozak will steer in a bunch of directions. Where he’s from, where he’s going, why he calls himself Bozak instead of his real name (which he keeps a secret), everything. In truth, Bozak likes to say that most everything before now just isn’t important enough to talk about. But he will definitely regale his past combat experiences and hunting accomplishments, taking great pride in the mutants he’s killed at the behest (and hiring) of communities he’s passed through. In fact he’ll claim he has something of a reputation around the southeast US, but surely nothing substantial enough to carry his name past him as he travels up north, towards New York City.

Madison stands at a tall height of five foot nine inches, weighing at around one hundred and thirty nine pounds, having quite an athletic build. Her brown hair reaches mid-way down her back but is normally braided to one side or thrown up into a messy ponytail. With her pale skin, her stormy blue eyes are very noticeable. Normally wearing black jodhpurs, small black ankle boots, a white polo shit with an old camo jacket she used to adore.

Brief Personality:
Forceful, original, and sensitive. Tends to stick to things until they are done. Extremely thorough, responsible, and dependable. She has well-developed powers of concentration. Very individualistic, rather than leading or following. She is a high risk-taker, living for the moment. Uncomplicated in her desires. Shown to be loyal to anyone who deserved it but has extreme trust issues and is hard to crack into. Being by herself most of the time, Madison has learned to not trust anyone and keep herself to herself. Detached and analytical, they excel at finding solutions to practical problems. Maddie tends to be through everything she has been through very cold hearted. Grown to be very devious too.

Background:
Being two at the time of the bombs fell Madison was moved around a lot with her parents. They did everything they could to keep their little girl safe, going to drastic measures and taking risks just for her. But Maddie only remembers them in sketchy details due to the fact that when she was around five they abandoned her in their first settlement. They left as the settlement began to fall apart, going against the good morals they were supposed to follow by and have. People killed people for reasons that weren't good enough and stole from good people. Madison's parents decided to leave as soon as they felt everything go down hill but they left Madison to try and fend for herself. Being delirious, she gathered up some supplies and left to find her parents but without finding them, ended up alone.

Being as young as she was wondering the wilderness, as expected the next settlement which she passed by took her in. They made sure she was well looked after and the good people who did take her in began to teach her the ways to survive. Knowing she couldn't stay in their settlement they wanted her to at least be capable of surviving out on her own. She stayed with these people for as long as she could so she wasn't alone and would learn as much as she could. Madison saw a lot of the world when they were moving, things someone of her age should never have seen before but in the world that they lived in, that was seen to be normal. When she reached the age of around seventeen, they dumped her leaving her for dead and showing how little they grew to care about her. Again, she was alone.

Madison carried on moving, sometimes she got accepted into settlements but she swore to herself that she could never stay. She never opened herself up to anyone else and she never again trusted anyone. There was no one who kept together, they got bored of people and dumped them out onto the streets. Maddie knew that you could never trust any of the people who walked the Earth today because she grew to work out that they worked in the same way. They best way she thought was to keep to herself, stay away from anyone or anything that could be bad news and not to get too attached to anywhere. Nowhere was home.

Long, tough, razor sharp nails showing physically, heightened senses. Stronger than average.

Main outdoor survival skills, knowing and understanding the uses of all the elements of survival. Shelter, fire, cooking, drinking water, food and a natural hunter. Extremely good at stealth. Very agile. She is an amazing climber and can often use the use her nails to climb trees, finding cover but can find other ways to climb buildings etc. Having a good eye for aim with a crossbow but can resort to close combat if needed. Preferred and better off with the crossbow.

Her vocal chords have been altered by the radioactivity, giving her more vocal range. Because of this mutation, Joy is able to mimic almost any human or animal noise. It shows as a small lump on her throat, almost like an adam's apple.


Brief Personality:
Joy is the very definition of rough. Her scratchy voice paired with her crass, sarcastic words and general dislike for everybody makes her easily the bitch. However, when someone first meets her that’s not what they expect. She usually changes her voice to sound honeyed and sweet, is polite, and acts bubbly until she feels like revealing that she is anything but. Joy gets a kick out of tricking people into thinking things about her and can take on multiple personas. Her moral code is low and she is not afraid to kill others without a single thought or prostitute herself to a man in exchange for a gun or food. She uses people, even though she knows she shouldn’t, to get what she wants and never feels guilty. She doesn’t care about anyone else but herself. One time, she even made a man fall in love with her so she could take his gun in his sleep! However, she is not without her merits. Joy is extremely intelligent and prefers to use logic over emotion, making her someone to rely on in a pinch – or not, if she decided to sacrifice you to live. She is patient, her patience seeming unending and hardly ever gets mad.


Background:
Joy Carter had never known the world before its fall. She was born into a cold, moral less world and, as such, came out cold and moral less herself. She was born to a young couple, but that is all she remembers due to the fact they abandoned her in woods, now not having to worry about what people think of them. She almost died from the cold until she was found by another survivor that went by the name of Trey. Trey raised her to survive in the big bad world, keeping Joy at a distance, never allowing herself to become emotionally attached to the young Joy. As such, Joy didn't value intimacy as much as the people in the previous age had. She taught Joy to use others and to never regret it, to abandon guilt, and to manipulate.

Joy didn't know much about Trey; she didn't know her age, where she came from, what her real name was, who she was before. For awhile, Joy would ask about her life, but when she did, Trey would slap her hard on the wrist and Joy learned not to ask questions. Around the age of nine, Trey began to leave Joy for an hour or two and, by the age of ten, Trey started leaving for days. One day, Trey never came back. Joy knew this was going to happen eventually and didn't dwell on it. She immediately left with all the supplies she could find and begun to search for someone she could use.

When Joy was sixteen, she was a part of a band of bandits and helped them steal right out from others noses. She stayed with them until she was nineteen, until one day, they decided to cut their losses in order to keep the supplies to themselves - they tried to kill her. Joy barely escaped with a bullet in her arm and stumbled around, trying to keep the wound from festering, when she came to a survivor at least twenty years her senior. His name was Steven and Joy entered into a sexual relationship with him; he eventually fell in love with her. Joy found his affection for her disgusting, but she allowed him to love her, using him to get what she wants.

When she came across Maria, a woman willing to mentor her and help her survive, Joy was quick to dump Steven and leave...in the middle of the night...with some of his things.

Brief Personality: Very intelligent and humorous. Due to long time spent in solitude he went slightly insane which, along with his positive appearance and attitude, makes him charismatic. Nevertheless, he is sly and is ready to back-stab anyone for his personal gain.

Skills: Having been using them for some time, Zin is very proficient with his weapons. In addition, he can move with a high degree of stealth. When he chooses, his footfalls are silent and his motions difficult to notice. His fingers are deft from a lifetime of thieving and he's an expert pickpocket. He can pick most locks with a bobby pin and a needle.

Any unusual traits? Does it show physically?: Zin can blend in with his surroundings when moving under the cover of shadow. Even if one were to look directly at him they wouldn't notice unless they shined a light directly onto him.



Brief Personality: Quick-witted and brash, Zin has a sharp retort for just about everything. He's prone to sneaking up on people but hates it when people sneak up on him. He's rather jumpy and nervous, from a lifetime of never being safe from more than a night. He's mistrustful of everyone, and never seems to be able to put down his guard.

Background: Currently in the ruins of New York City.

Zin's parents died from the missiles. His older brother took care of him and they joined up with a thieving gang who made use of his older brother's sneaking skills. When a mission went wrong, Zin's brother used to take his anger out on him. Zin got used to being beat as a child. In fact, many members of the crew started taking their anger out on Zin. Even the ones he liked, that he thought he could trust, betrayed him by beating him. He suffered through it all, telling himself that with every hit he would only grow stronger.

Eventually, a job went wrong and Zin's brother died in it. That night, Zin got the worst beating of his life from the crewleader. The next morning, Zin ran away. He ran for what felt like forever before he stumbled upon an elderly couple. They fed him, clothed him and then used him to break into a food supply. They promised him 1/3 of the food, but then ran away with all of it. They too betrayed him. He vowed to never trust anyone again.

Zin lived on the streets by himself for the next several years. He stole clothes, food, water, weapons, pretty much everything he could to keep himself alive. His only goal was survival and his only skills were stealing. Eventually, Zin ran into another thieving crew. It had been so long since he was betrayed by the elderly couple, he decided to trust someone again. The new crew used him, betrayed him, and left him alone again.

For the last two years, Zin has been traveling alone. Resolved to never trust anyone. He acquired his weapons by scavenging and stealing.
