In all honesty, given the situation at hand, Sergei almost has full rights to call upon an inquisitorial man hunt now that he has portion of evidence against the cultists and now that town guardsmen have been slain, the city may be up in arms at this point. Making the eventually arrival for the party kinda awkward.

Though thats my take on the situation anyway. =/
