I think if we go with the DC & Marvel universes being mashed together into a single universe we should be able to take DC heroes/villains and mashing them together with Marvel heroes/villains, or we could mash together DC heroes/villains with other DC heroes/villains or Marvel heroes/villains with other Marvel heroes/villains.

For instance I could merge Wolverine with Bane or Jean Grey with Cyclops.

I think if we were doing that we should probably just stick to stuff from the Amalgam Universe for mashups, since... That just sounds a bit weird, honestly. ^^;

Besides, why would you want any Wolverine-based mashup other than DARK CLAW? :D

Hey, that sounds like the Amalgam Universe. Only stupid, since the core concept of this RP is these heroes interacting with each other rather than getting slammed together with unrelated archetypes.

On topic, just how much of Marvel and DC's canon would we be allowed to use?

I didn't mean making amalgamation characters. Just that the worlds would be a mashup. Poor use of terminology on my part. @Revans Exile@Rin@clanjos

Honestly seems like the best idea in my opinion, really.

This is a good question though, really. Bare in mind that the Marvel universe has canonically contained Godzilla, Combattler V (and other Japanese super robots) and has Transformers and GI Joe in a weird state of quasi-canon. Also that Conan the Barbarian is technically canon to it. XD

Basically what I'm saying is that there's potentially a lot of strange, cool stuff to play with.

@Rin@clanjos I would prefer sticking to the generally accepted canon characters of Marvel and DC. Otherwise it is just another full crossover RP because something somewhere appears in one of the two.

I'll ignore your insult this time.

Nobody said that every hero/villain would be merged.

Because I don't like a hybrid of a wolverine and a bat.

@t2waveYeah, I was mostly kidding around there anyways. XD As much as those things are established parts of Marvel history (not kidding about Conan technically being canon, after all), it's probably better to just stick to their original properties.

...Also, don't think the character mashup thing is a good idea at all outside of Amalgam characters anyways. ^^;

Here's my idea: (which is for the most part, Marvel-based)

In an alternate dimension parallel to our own but entirely different existed a being simply known as Mojo. This foul creature had dreamed for one thing for as long as he can recall, this beings one true wish was to create the most exhilarating and action packed drama series to ever land on a television. This desire gnawed away at him, driving him into insanity as he tried over and over again to create this fantasy of his. After thousands of attempts Mojo decided he needed help, something more to make the entire thing easier. When knowledge of the Infinity Gems reached Mojo he knew their power would grant him what he desired so much. After years of scouring and scheming, Mojo collected the Infinity Gems and forged an ultimate weapon known as the Infinity Gauntlet. With this fantastic item Mojo took the two most thrilling timelines he could find and mashed them together. Streaming to millions of alternate timelines, the events that unfold in Mojo's world will be witnessed by more creatures than any single event ever.

I figured the entire world would be imagined by Mojo. Places like Spider-Man's New York, Batman's Gotham City, Latveria, Atlantis all exist on the same planet somewhere. It is inhabited by every human any of these heroes could know and some that don't, although they are simply created by Mojo and not actual people meaning their existence doesn't truly matter (although the heroes don't know that.)

I dunno just spit ballin' here. I don't know much about DC if I'm honest.

@DeftInteresting idea, and I'll admit to actually kind of liking Mojo, buuut... The Infinity Gems/Gauntlet don't work outside their own universe, as Avengers vs Justice League has shown us (long story short, Darkseid got his hands on the Gauntlet, then casually tossed it aside after explaining as much). XD So not only would they not affect the DCU, I doubt they'd even work in Mojoworld since I think that's an alternate universe if I remember right. ^^;

Anything better than those that could grant someone the ability to just wish up an entire universe and control it?

Erm, Cosmic Cube? I dunno, I'm a very, very casual comic fan; I just love super heroes in general. I just did some googling and the "M'kraan Crystal" has Universe hopping capabilities. Someone harnessed that? Someone messed with it? Maybe nothing to do with it at all?

Sorry for not having many ideas.

You want a character that can merge two universes together? Mister Mxyzptlk (DC) aka Impossible Man (Marvel). A Fifth Dimensional being able to manipulate reality at will and canonically can hop between the DC and Marvel universes on a whim. And would probably do it out of amusement or to win a bet.

Maybe stick to Mojo being the "creator" but he captures one of those people that has reality powers (Mister Mxyzptlk (DC) or Impossible Man (Marvel)) and basically channels their powers forcefully for his bidding. A sick TV show, a sick TV show creator, and a sick power source keeping the universe running for amusement.

The only ones able to subdue Mxyzptlk (control his powers or take them away) is other Fifth Dimensional beings (meaning more than one). Mojo can be powerful but is nowhere near smart enough to figure that out. Even the Infinity Gauntlet does not touch him in power because they are not of the same reality. Now if you want a TV show Impossible Man did just that with the Fantastic Four. Following them around with a camera and broadcasting it everywhere.

Well I was talking to t2wave about my own concept for a Marvel/DC crossover. I've done it on here before but the idea is essentially combining the Young Avengers and Young Justice into a single team. I never really put any reason into how the two universes are together because to me thats over thinking things. You can make a universe where both DC and Marvel heroes co-exist without having to stuff a reason into it. Simple, and to the point of the matter.

Really also when you think about it whats the possibility that the thing that brings everything together really plays a serious role in what happens. Only the story is like a reality like ours suddenly has DC and Marvel heroes and stuff in it.

With my idea we could really do anything. Mxyzptlk/Impossible Man are rather random. So they could do it just to toy with everyone. But there doesn't really need to be an explanation.

Hm. Yeah, I guess just not really worrying over the reason is an option. Really it's all about what kind of story is being told. Just about a group of super heroes? Who cares about a reason! Want an over-arching villain? Well, having that massive universal collide would be a reason for all the heroes to fight someone all-powerful.
