Edoniras , a beautiful continent surrounded by vast seas, with its lands holding bountiful riches. A Empire named the Norian Empire sought to make all of Edoniras its domain, and it conquered vast chunks of Edoniras. Those nations who did not fall under it’s flag saw themselves bowing to the Empire’s many Emperors, and they constantly feared invasion from the massive Empire. However after a while the Empire found it self plagued by overextension, being incapable of defending all of it’s holdings. Corruption, Inflation, and even disease soon followed, and the once mighty empire collapsed. The various Noble Houses seized the opportunity as they carved out chunks of the Empire for their own, and the smaller nations grew, no longer fearing the Empire’s hordes of soldiers.

It has been a few years since the Empire collapsed, and the new nations are now starting to thrive once more. The Powers of the world arise and awaken, seeking to dominate and expand. Guns were invented prior to the Empire’s collapse, but now they are a widespread. You take hold of one of the mighty powers, shall you expand your empire through military force and make yourself feared? Or perhaps you shall take to the seas, conquering through ships rather than through armies. You may prefer however to expand your nation by expanding it’s economy, dominating your enemies through vast wealth and riches. Whatever your choice, a new age has come, intelligence and science is on the rise, and it is time for change. It is time for an Age of Glory.

There is the idea, now for the rules and NS.

Rules:
1. Standard RP rules apply, such as no godmodding, powerplaying, metagaming etc. Guild Rules apply as well.
2. Be nice and respectful, if you have a issue with me or someone else and wish to debate it, do it respectfully.
3.My decisions or the decisions of Co-GMs are FINAL, if you have a issue with them, PM us and attempt to debate it.
4.No arguements in the OOC, if it is related to the RP add me and all persons involved to a PM and I will monitor and I will make a final decision.
5.Do not insult other RPers, even if they insult you. Bring the issue to me or the Guild Mods. We are supposed to be a little happy family of RPers, not people bitching at each other.
6.The Reply Blob is a false god, and shall not be worshipped in these sacred halls.
7.Any orders need to be put into a hider at the bottom of the post, summed up for this. We love reading your posts, but sometimes we do not have the time and need to get the update together as quickly as possible.

Traits:

Traits work like this, you start with 4 points. When you are done with your traits you must have 0 or greater for it to be balanced. You also may only have two +/- traits, and certain traits are marked with a S, these are super-traits. They are taken from normal traits, and have double the effects but double the costs, and you may only have one super trait. There are also super negative traits, which add stability but can severely cripple you in that area. 8-9 traits is probably the maximum if you want to avoid stability concerns(stability being rebellion and the likes)

There's not much else to say, but I am hoping from great things from all of you guys.

Also special thanks @Gowia who if we can get this going will be doing stats for us, and originally came up with the stats and traits for this.

NS
Nations Name: The Valkyrie Empire
Form of Government: Aristocratic Monarchy
Describe the System: The Empress of the Valkyrie Empire is its absolute ruler, although much of the day to day rule is delegated towards a lower parliament of hereditary landed aristocracy which the Empress retains unquestionable veto power over. In practice though she has rarely had need to exercise it, with a solid majority of the parliament being crown loyalists.

Location on Map Desired: WIP

Capital: WIP

Important Settlements:

Bronzekeep- A major border fortress-city which has grown to be both a center of trade and security for the Empire. Some of the first fortress artillery forged in the Empire was mounted here, and the gun batteries

Port Brunst- The primary trade port of the Empire, and what passes for a central base for its underfunded fleet.

Description:

The primary currency of the Empire is the Thaler, measured in declinations of gold, silver, and copper. One gold Thaler is worth 100 silver, one silver is 100 copper. Currency is primarily measured in stamped coinage, although the army is authorized to print and use paper script in exchange for bought goods that is redeemable for hard specie, or more recently usable against future taxes (a progressive reform element of the Selindis reign).

Important Characters:
Empress Selindis Parvadi Calona-Valkyron, ruler of the Valkyrian Empire. A deeply ambitious woman who intends to secure a thousand-year empire for her successors. While her aims are grand, her methods are highly pragmatic as she is willing to "descend" to the level of dealing with the middle merchant class and directly supervise the Army's latest expansion whilst firmly adhering to realpolitik despite having to keep her own ambitious and greedy aristocracy and military in line. The strain of rule is taking its toll however, and her pragmatism is beginning to stray towards paranoia of her own ministers and generals.
"The Courier"- The right-hand agent of the Valkyrian Empress is an enigmatic man who is beholden to noone save the Empress and given a licence to act and kill as needed to fulfill her directives. An exceedingly deadly individual loyal to a increasingly paranoid empress.

Master of the Armies
Minister of Coin

Brigadier Sora Whitehall- An rising star cavalry officer in the ranks of the Valkyrian Army. Noted for his tendency towards radical and unorthodox tactics, as well as accumulating a series of equally colorful subordinates.
Lady Melina Winters-Whitehall. Brigadier Whitehall's wife, and a rising star in political circles to match her husband. Her love is only matched by how ruthless she is in the application of seduction, poison, and her connections among the aristocracy to further both of their ends.

Traits:
Elite Army (S)- The Valkyrian Army is one of the most elite forces in the land with infantry, cavalry, and artillery force that can more than match any rival force. While highly skilled in warfare, strategy, and discipline, their main strengths lie in a well-organized signals corps and quartermasters bureau.(-6)
Ambitious Generals- The downside to rapid military success is the expectation of even more success. Glory-seeking and rank-ambition is rife among the upper command ranks and many of the line officers. (+1)
Conscription- Various countryside parishes and towns have their taxes waived for manpower levies, in addition to wartime drafts and recruitment of criminals. While no match for the elite standing army, they can assault positions or hold rear-echelon roles to free the Army for other duties. (-1)
Militia- The Valkyrian Empire retains militia forces at its towns and cities, composed of a mix of retired frontline troops, conscripts, and civilian volunteers. While of mixed quality of training, it doesn't take elite troops to stand on a wall and shoot at invaders or crew heavy fortress artillery to hold the line until the Regulars arrive. (-1)

Scared of Water- The Valkyrian Navy is decidedly the least important arm of the military, often considered little more than a logistical support arm of the Army branches than a force unto itself. As most of the Empire's ambitions are landwards, the navy remains a purely defensive force. (+3)
Rotting Hulls: Likewise, the navy is underfunded and undermanned.... (+2)
Landlubbers: And its sailors mostly press-ganged conscripts with little serious skill and lesser sons of nobility with no prospects otherwise. +1

Trading Hub: The Valkyrian Empire is a source of many luxuries, fine goods, and trade opportunities. Making it a grand trade hub even after the Norian Empire's fall and allowing goods and gold to flow freely into the Empire's coffers.(-3)
Empowered Companies: The infamous Trading House of Listrata has considerable assets and influence within the Valkyrian Empire, with the Empress' blessing towards their trade actions in joint merchant-military endeavors. (+/-)

@duck55223 My app is all finished for when you return

Slight problem, as my plans for the map go when I actually get someone to map for me is that their is only one continent which will be connected to no others, for the time being anyways. I see mentions that they come from elsewhere other then Edoniras. While I don't have a problem with them possibly originating from elsewhere then Edoniras, I just need to say that they would have no knowledge of those areas.

Beyond that your good to go, put your app in the dump and put STATS NEED TO BE DONE like that so I know I need to get your traits shipped off to Gowia for rolls.

"The Great Xiang" / The Kingdom of Xiang

Form of Government: Absolute Monarchy

Describe the System: WIP

Capital: WIP

Important Settlements: WIP

Description: The ethnicity of the majority of peoples inhabiting the Kingdom of Xiang and of its fore-bearers refer to themselves as Huaren. Huaren can be roughly interpreted as illustrious people. The Huaren are not native to the continent of Edoniras; rather, they were first seen along its eastern shores some thousand years ago, in the ages of antiquity. Since that time, they built up a kingdom of their own, and with each new dynasty came new expansions westward.

The Kingdom of Xiang has replaced many of the feudal elements of its fore-bearers with a merit-central basis. The government is propped up by an "intellectual class" selected through examinations and personal recommendation. This civil structure aims to reduce the distortions in power caused by privilege of birth and instead ensure that positions are fulfilled by those most qualified for them. As such, there is heavy emphasis on education.

The current age is considered by many to mark the greatest era of cultural prosperity the Huaren have seen. The territory is home to a vibrant, cosmopolitan society, hosting frequent contact with neighboring peoples. Art and literature are widely-respected talents, and study in poetry composition is required for civil examinations. Women have gained a substantial degree of footing in regards to social status and rights. Greater opportunities for economic independence, marital equality, education and employment for women have evened the balance of power between genders.

Religion in Xiang consists of folk beliefs and large numbers of deities; some are believed to be divine, others are great historical figures elevated from humanity to godhood. The afterlife runs parallel to the earthly world, and operates much like a reflection. Deceased are buried alongside elaborate rituals and buried with necessities needed in the heavenly world. Alongside traditional folk religion, Huaren recognize philosophical belief systems analogous to Buddhism and Daoism.

The kingdom is open to trade from all over Edoniras, and its economy enjoys the flow of goods that connect it to foreign nations. It is a source of many unique goods that cannot be found elsewhere. Huaren silks, laquerware and porcelain are coveted by many, and horses, jewelry, metal goods, textiles, firs, spices, medicines, perfumes, tea and salt are also exported frequently. At the same time, increased contact with foreigners has led to climbing demands for imported products.

Xiang enjoys rich agricultural opportunities presented by its geography. Barley, garlic, salt, turnips, soybeans, pears, apricots, peaches, apples, pomegranates, jujubes, rhubarb, hazelnuts, pine nuts, chestnuts, walnuts, yams, and taro make up commonly-grown foodstuffs, and grains include sesamum, legumes, wheat, and millet - panicled and glutinous. Meats commonly consumed by the Huaren are chicken, lamb, and pork, along with more exotic tastes - sea otter and bear being a few. Beef is discouraged, on the account of bovines being valuable working animals. Seafood is regularly consumed as a staple along the coastline, and jellyfish, oysters, squid, horseshoe crabs, swimming crabs, shrimp and pufferfish are oft-eaten creatures.

Industrial developments reached a new height during the current dynasty's early reign. Crafts like textiles, ceramics, paper making, tea-leaf processing, and metallurgy have become increasingly pronounced. Huaren metallurgy is famed for its intricacies and the quality of products. Salt mining is another well-regarded industry.

Important Characters:
Queen Regnant Zhou Cheng (28)
Prince Hai Min (Infant), son of Zhou Cheng and deceased King, Hai Zan
Prince Hai Jun (Infant), son of Zhou Cheng and deceased King, Hai Zan
Lady Yi (67), mother of Zhou Cheng

Traits:
Army
Outdated Army: Xiang's soldiers are nothing to scoff at, however their equipment is slightly behind the times, compared to many other contemporaries within Edoniras. Xiang has not completely caught on to more modern tactics and still makes widespread use of arms that would not be out-of-place a century ago. +2

Ambitious Generals: Although the kingdom is shifting towards merit-centrism, many commanders remain that have inherited their posts by nobility, and are married to traditional concepts like glory and honor. +1

Decentralized Army: Xiang is divided into several military and administrative regions, each with their own compliment of soldiers. Regional commanders are autonomous to a degree, but each must answer to the Xiang's Supreme Commander in matters of offense. +/-

Navy
King of the Seas: Xiang boasts a very competent naval force. A history of seafaring and expedition make Xiang a force to be reckoned with at sea. The kingdom's vessels are sublime in their construction and are armed with powerful artillery. -3

Economy/Industry
Strong Industry: Xiang has pushed its industry to new heights over the past few decades, emerging as one of the top practitioners of metallurgy. Xiang goods are famed for their high quality and fetch fair prices on the international market. -2

Fertile Fields: A strong agricultural background is necessary to sustain Xiang's growing population. Thanks to the natural land, farmers are not want for bountiful harvests. Food shortages are rare, if not unheard of in most of Xiang's developed land. -2

Misc.
Serfs: Xiang's serfdom is central to much of its success. The workforce ensures that goods are made, the land is well-fed and the kingdom's treasury stays stocked. It's not a pleasant job by any means, but somebody has to do it. +/-
