[IC] The Magic Apprentice(s) (REBOOT)

Alex listened to the master and as he described how dangerous it would be for them and his family he had a thought it might come back to bite him. People he didn’t know attacking his family. Him he didn’t worry so much about, but his family being attacked scared him. However, he shook that feeling and the images out of his head.

“Mom's a MMA fighter with magic in her blood, dads a doctor, and grandpa can use magic as well. I think they can take care of themselves, “Alex reassured himself. Alex took out a scalpel and carefully made a small cut on his finger before he signed his name on the stone. I should be fine with how mom trains and dad pushed me in those medical books. Alex thought

Mecca signed the stone next, her bangs covering her eyes. This isn't just for me. It's for Grandpa as well. She thought stepping back to wait for any others to sign the stone. She was using the edge of her jacket to stop her index finger from bleeding anymore.

Grace listened to the banter of the others, her violet eyes dull, thinking over the events that had happened in the forest. Her eyes skimmed over the contract, the words registering only subconsciously. She used her right thumbnail to tear a gouge in her left forearm, perhaps a bit bigger and deeper than it needed to be. The sight of the blood welling up made her want to vomit, as she remembered how the unknown boy had sacrificed himself, how there had been so much blood--

She forced the thought out of her mind and signed the stone with a finger dipped in the blood pouring from the gouge. She had nothing to lose, after all.

Once they had all signed the blood would dry on the tablet and glow until there would be carvings in the tablet where they had written. The tablet would glow as would the circle, the master could be heard chuckling "time for the fun part" he states as suddenly energy shoot out of the tablet and struck each of the apprentices in the chest. Intense pain would rocket through them, but this was only the start as the energy stopped and they was lifted into the air, their arms and legs stretched out dropping anything they had, 6 small needles will appear infront of each of them, and slowly move closer. Slowly starting to pierce their skin, one in each arm, one in each leg, one in their chest, and one in their forehead, so much pain shooting through their body they know nothing else, they forget everything else, all they know is the sensation they are feeling worse then anything else.

The master would be sitting back in a chair laughing. "The energy to prepare your body.. you wont be able to move, wont be able to run away" he states "Then the dull Needles of energy pierce your skin at an extremely slow rate" he grins. Leaning back and opening a book "This takes 5 Hours, to complete" he states "O by the way, that energy that prepared your body also made it so you wont be allowed to pass out or lose consciousness you will experience Everything" he chuckles with a grin "If your awake at the end I'll be surprised"

Once the 5 hours pass they would fall to the ground like a sack, their bodies nearly unresponsive. Some would be passed out at the end, some (Non-players) would be dead, while a small few could be awake.

"Aw shi-" was the only intelligible words he would be able to utter for the next five hours. Nothing he'd ever felt could compare to this. Any other pain was inconsequential. Nothing else existed except for the pinpricks of intense pain radiating throughout his body from those six points. Bristle didn't know if he screamed, he didn't know anything. All he could do was focus on existing, everything else vanished save for his own tortured body. An infinity of time passed as Bristle ran through his memories time and time again, desperately asserting his will upon himself.

Bristle couldn't lose, not now. After the first moment of pain, losing wasn't an option anymore. He wouldn't suffer through this for nothing. Finally the pain left and Bristle could feel the world again, he'd survived. The cold feeling of the snow on his knees and the hard ground beneath it. Bristle viewed the area through his slowly returning vision. The master was sitting in his chair reading and watching them.

Bristle viewed his own limp limbs with fascination, they were trembling minusculely and he wasn't strong enough to stop them. He felt a warm liquid drip out of his mouth and run down his throat before it quickly turned to the same chilling cold as everything else. It seemed he had bit the inside of his cheek causing bleeding. He couldn't feel the cut, he could barely feel anything besides the cold. Bristle wanted to say something witty, say anything really, but he couldn't. His attempts to emit any sort of noise were met with utter failure by his abused throat. So he simply stayed there on his knees, his limbs trembling, and stared at the master with fiery eyes. He'd passed this 'test' what could possibly be worse than this?

Alex was shocked with the speed of the pillars when they activated. He heard the master chuckle before a string of energy slammed into his chest causing him to drop his scalpel to the ground. He fell backwards as the pain filled his body. Over the years he had suffered broken bones from the MMA training and a car crash, but this pain outweighed them all. He dug his nails into the ground as the pain only intensified. The master then told them about the ritual and how long it would take before he saw the needles. His body wouldn’t move and he began to panic until her heard his mother’s voice.

“Pain is something you’ll have to deal with when you fight, however, if you can channel your adrenaline. The pain will be far less worse than it actually is.” Alex felt the needles pierce in his skin and he wanted to scream, but he bit his lip and fought back the urge to scream. As the minutes turned to hours he found that the pain started to dull. It was still there and it still made him want to scream, but he also knew the adrenaline was starting to help. That’s when he heard his father’s voice in his head.

“The human body is very unique. There are cases where people have endured pain for long periods of time, but as the pain goes on. Their bodies seem to get use to the pain and it becomes the norm from them now, not everyone can have this unique sensation. The pain must be going on for months, hell years. However, some say the pain left within hours.”

“Great dad, why couldn’t you or mom let me have that unique skill. Could use it right about now!” Alex said. He didn’t realize he had said it out loud because all he was concentrating on was not screaming. The five hours felt like an eternity and once it was done Alex couldn’t move or maybe he just didn’t want to after the whole ordeal.

“You know, if I had known it was going to take five hours I would have put on music to pass the time” Alex laughed. He still had his humor, but he felt like he was going to pass out. The world started to blur in and out, but he refused to pass out. He thought he was going to scum to the feeling before he let out a massive belch that nearly shook him to the core. he began to smack his lips as he tasted the very odd taste in his mouth.

“Hot dog? When the hell was the last time I had a hot dog?” Alex asked before he added, “Guess those things stay in your stomach forever.” He began to laugh which kept him from passing out.

Mecca clenched her teeth as her body went rigid with pain. Her golden eyes glared straight ahead of her. When the needles started to press harshly against her skin she just kpet clenching her teeth. Well she couldn't tell if her teeth were still clenched, there was just so much pain.

As the pain shot through him Zephyr just thought of what was keeping him going. Magic is understanding of the universe. Understanding is knowledge. Knowledge is power. After what felt like an eternity he fell to the ground on his knees. Looking at the Magic Man, he seemed amused watching them all suffer, probably because he was counting on no one expecting that pain. Zephyr gave the man a weak thumbs up before collapsing in the snow, unable to move for the time being.

The Master would clap in surprise at how they was, "interesting... you have managed to surprise me" he states then he raises his eyebrow at Bristle when he senses something "well you don't get time to 'celebrate'" he states and snaps his fingers to put everyone to sleep sense the ritual was over. he'd walk over to bristle scratching his chin thinking how to deal with some trouble he spotted, then grins seeing one of bristle's positions and gets and idea.......

The apprentices would begin to wake in a big room that is filled with rows of bed, almost like an infirmary. All the apprentices would find all their possessions gone, and their clothes changed. They would be wearing old wool made clothes, set up more old time wise. The females would be wearing a dress of shorts of a light brownish color. While the guys would be wearing a tunic and trousers, the tunic being same color as the dresses but the trousers would be even darker. there would be two doors in this room, one marked a 'rest room' while the other has a note on it stating 'Once you all are finally awake follows these instructions' it then gives a path to go. 'and meet me at your first training field.'

Bristle woke up with a groan, that had been the absolute worst thing he'd ever been through. He felt his new clothes curiously, well this was somewhat different. Oh well, free clothes were free. He stretched and found that his muscles were in fact still intact, albeit somewhat sore. Looking around he found that apparently not everyone had died. Good news just kept coming. Shrugging he reached for the closest door and saw a note on it. Follow the path hm? Bristle looked back at the other sleeping members curiously, it seemed he was the first up. Since he didn't really like the thought of meeting the master alone he knocked on the door in an attempt to wake somebody else up to walk with him.

Alex opened his eyes and sat up. He didn’t remember falling asleep or falling asleep in a bed for that matter. He rubbed the right side of his head to try and dull the throbbing headache. He sighed, “Last time I felt like this was when I broke my arm and woke in the hospital with all those pain killers in my body.” He shook his head and noticed his clothes had changed.

“Well that’s just perfect. Those clothes where three hundred dollars online,” Alex said before he moved to the side of his bed and looked around. He couldn’t find the med kit he bought or any of the other possessions he had with him. He stood up and stumbled before getting his footing and said, “Great, both the med kit and my IPod is gone. Guess I won’t need them for the next test.” Alex stretched before his stomach growled.

“Could use a slice of pizza though,” Alex said.

Mecca darted up-right, pain shooting through her sore limbs. She went to feel for her lighter, wanting to take comfort in these strange surrondings only to find herself in a dress. "I hate dresses." She grumbled as she stood on her shaky legs and made her way towards the door where Bristle was at, grumbling things to herself.

Zephyr woke up feeling better than he did right after the ritual, but that wasn't saying much. The first thing he noticed was he was in different clothes. These new ones were pretty comfy, but he didn't even want to think of what the Master did to get them all changed. It seemed everyone was waking up, Bristle being the first. He was standing by the door knocking on it, Zephyr guessed to make noise to wake the others. As he stood up Zephyr also realized he didn't have any of his personal items with him. "This guy better not have thrown my sword away," he said to himself as he walked over to Bristle. "So we have instructions already?" He nodded at the note, wondering what exactly their first assignment would be.

"Yep, no time off for us." Bristle said cheerfully in response to the swordless swordsman's question. Now that everyone was awake they could get going, "Seems the magic man wants us to meet him at the first training field, I'm Bristle by the way." He said as way of introducing himself since he didn't know anyone's names so it stood to reason they didn't know his. Then he snatched the note with the map off the door and walked out following it until he arrived at the training field. Theoretically the others would follow him.

As the apprentices would arrive in the new location, it would be a huge field that's surrounded by canyon walls. unsure how such a place exists in where their suppose to be. the temperature would be comfortable warm, and the master would be seen sitting on a rock reading a book in middle of the field. he would look towards the apprentices as they arrived "about dam time" he says "been sleeping for months.. then again that's expected for your bodies to adapt to it's new form" he states "you may look like you use to, and feel like you use to. but there has been massive changes done to your bodies.." he says looking towards Bristle "especially you." he states. "this is a magical field, think of it like a pocket dimension" he tells them "this place has been set... on easy for your first training" he chuckles "it will have comfortable temperature for today, and wont have any hindering affects. the first thing you will be doing is learning how to create a sphere of energy from your very own magic.. though Bristle you will have to halt on that for i must speak with you before you try to do it" he tells them all.

He cups his hands infront of him and suddenly energy surges before his holding a sphere "this is what you'll be doing.. you wont get this the first try, you must have a clear mind and clear it of all distractions" he says "one emotional slip and it explodes.... harming yourself and anyone near you, people have died before doing this... now the primary aspect of this is you do not control magic, you let it flow" he states "you guide the flow of energy through yourself from where your magic resides, into your palms and then shape it into a sphere, now it doesn't matter the size of the sphere, only that you can make one. no rushing or else you could kill each other.. after words you'll be doing physical training" he sates.

Bristle mentally winced, being singled out already? And what was this about sleeping for months? They could've have been out for more than a couple days right? Bristle reluctantly walked next to the master and stood there awaiting orders. So far the master made magic sound less fun and more like some sort of intense training thing. He was kind of intimidated by the thought that attempting to rush the process could kill them, what if he messed up? He swallowed nervously.

The master chuckles "raise your left palm and focus on it" he states "something should appear after a few moments... unlike the others I've put a multi-layer seal on your magical energy.. and the keys to it are in your left palm" he tells Bristle "you have a rare trait that most don't seem to have, plus a ton of energy to back it up. so to insure you can learn to control this I've put this seal on you, each seal will release more of your energy, as you are now.. you could only handle the first level, never try to go past it or else you will lose control and probably kill yourself" he states "as you train you'll learn to control more energy so you'll be able to control it better, but until then this is a safety measure"

Alex walked into the canyon; he was amazed at how something so large could be here. He smiled as he said, “My god, it’s like a small pocket of reality. It’s like we’re in another dimension from our own. This is amazing. Can magic actually create pocket dimensions? For that matter: can magic really bend reality to the users will?” he found the master sitting on a rock reading and when he stated how long they had been sleeping Alex wanted to ask how they were kept from dehydration or starvation, but stopped himself. Better off not asking scientific questions, he might be the type that hates science. Alex thought.

Alex listened to what he was supposed to do and slowly slide away from the others to keep a safe distance from everyone else. Better make a good enough radius around myself to keep others out of the blast zone should it come to that. Alex thought before he saw the Master talking with someone else and sighed, “I hope he didn’t throw away my clothes. They were expensive and one of a kind. for that matter: I hope my IPod is ok.” Alex sighed again before he stretched and cracked some joints in his shoulders and hands before he clears his mind. It took him a lot longer to clear his mind then he thought before he held his hand out like he saw the master do, yet nothing happened. Besides his stomach growling. Damn it I’m hungry Alex thought.

Bristle did as he was told and gazed at his palm intensely. After a few seconds of staring Bristle was about to speak up when he suddenly saw some pale object resting inside his hand. It appeared to be a deck of cards, chained. Except for one card that lay on top. "I see it now, but what do I do?" Bristle asked, fascinated by the strange ethereal object in his hand. He hadn't expected anything like this to happen.

Mecca had taken a place far away from the other apprentices and had commenced to staring at her hands. She honestly had no idea how to let the magic flow. She had to bite her tongue to keep from saying something stupid. Trying to clear her mind of her thoughts she just kept staring at her open hands.
