@TheUnknowable I am not sure how the internet would work but I assume she would be able to use them just fine so long as they are run on older technology. She is essence has no existence when it comes to technology. So any technology that requires and actual presence to function would not work with her such as mentioned before. However, she still has her physical presence that allows her to type on a keyboard or possibly use a landline (though I'm not sure where it would still record a voice). She may just have to use typed communication when in long distances.

@Vocab That would be fine. Espionage is kind of the line I was thinking of leading her down since it could help in multiple facets of the story. So if I am accepted I'm sure I would do fine in your faction.

Some factions will have hierarchies that depend solely on ability. Factions like SOUL use your fighting prowess, ability, other skills and how many jobs one does as a basis for rank.

SIGN on the other hand is almost completely to do with ability and how useful it would be. If someone had the ability to shutdown any computer network through touch alone he would be placed higher than someone who can, say, use a computer through their minds.

As for the "mo powers in the prison" part, I would agree. I'm still waiting on Prince to accept Jason, but since his ability is purely touch and essentially useless anywhere he can't touch things, its nice to give him something to... Even the playing field. Since your ability through the "Maliscious Form" is only working at half capacity (or in some cases only a third) this at least give tech users the advantage they need since most tend not be particularly good fighters. At least, not in Jason's opininion. :3

Edit: if the partial resistance to the ability dampening field is too OP @Prince of Seraphs please let me know so I can change it ^_^

I was more or less going for what they would do when they escaped the prison, as in the faction would still be around after the escape.

@Everyone
I think everyone should realize that the factions aren't going to stay intact once the prison break occurs. Edmund is going to warp as many people as he can out but you have to remember that is going to be all Player Characters and some choice NPCs. Anyone else who survives will have to be smart and clever and be able to brave the environment surrounding the Center without being caught or killed This means that the largest population of any faction coming out the Center is going to be about five at most, less more likely. There's not going to be enough left of Cross or SIGN or SOUL or the Amazons to keep a faction intact and while I would expect that the faction members that escape might try to keep there faction alive at the beginning if the group as a whole wants to survive it would have band together, not split apart.

Weird Tales, once the prison break occurs Sam is welcome to try and keep Cross going but since currently its members consist of you and maybe Manuel you're going to have a very lonely RP separated from the group.

As for progressive I mean non left-wing politics, Sam is described as a traditionalist and his faction wouldn't allow liberals or communists in their ranks, that's what he is getting at.

RIP Harper... Sorry I'm Canadian.

Here is Jason Reed and the faction SIGN

Alright, firstly Malicious Form: Jason is not a computer program, despite his ability to interface with computers him being able to rewrite his own biology only has a very flimsy level of logic behind it, the fact that he would be able to alter himself to be resistant to the barriers is also rather ludicrous. I believe I explained this but the ability dampeners flood the Center with a harmless type of background radiation that has an adverse effect on metahumans by dampening the functionality of there abilities (fringe science I know) this means that if he altered himself to be unaffected by the barriers he'd effectively be altering the meta gene out of himself. Which I think would defeat the purpose.

I have trouble believing that an under eleven year old, no matter how brilliant would have a decent enough understanding of his family situation and the commercial world at large to create products and market them to companies. I would have an even harder time believing that an eleven year old could function without parents. I lived in a troubled home, I know you grow up fast but you don't become self sufficient over night. I can't believe that at eleven being able to function on his own he was also able to keep it a secret. A mother dying of illness would be a matter of public record and while I can see the dad moving away without notice it's not like an apartment is a segregated environment. You'd have your landlord checking up on the place, doing repairs, collecting the rent money and since Jason isn't old enough to have a bank account (and by your bio doesn't have his powers yet) he would have to be paying his rent in cash which I can't see a landlord accepting from a eleven year old boy without asking questions.

The fact that he could sell programs to the CIA and NASA and still be poor is quite frankly ridiculous. The CIA pays well. Like extremely well, if they don't there programmers get desperate and start selling the CIAs programs to rival governments. NASA is likewise not the only space program in existence and they need to keep things confidential so they pay there contractors well to ensure that they don't seek under the table deals with others. Also the CIA and NASA don't do business over the phone. They would be aware of the fact that Jason is like thirteen and if his programs are irrelevant enough (only explanation I can see) that the CIA isn't paying him enough to live off of then they are also able to be written by a lot of different programmers and the CIA now not needing Jason would report his situation to social services.

It is completely illogical for REEL to try to push Jason into cracking this super computer. If they're looking outside of there own group for a hacker to crack it, that means that within there network of hackers there is no one that can do it, or alternatively they don't want to risk getting caught. If this is so obviously outside of Jason's skill range they would go to someone better. Since everything is anonymous in those circles there is no reason to lie about or hide your skill level so they would have a starting point for looking for a more experienced hacker. It would also not make sense for them to go through the effort of obtaining photos of his home to threaten him with if up until this point he hasn't shown that he has the skill to crack this computer.

I don't know exactly what kind of super computer this was but for the most part systems with the kind of power and encryption you seem to be talking about are rarely networked or if they are it is for short periods of time. This is a precaution to prevent hacking. Also when these computers are networked they have complex security that aside from protecting the data also monitors when someone tries to access it and trace the access back to it's source. An alarm would go off the first instant someone tried to hack it. If he made so many failed attempt to hack the computer the police would have been at his door a long time ago. There is no way REEL would be able to recognize that he had used Datakinesis to crack the computer and thus no reason to call the cops. To any other computer user it would simply appear as an increasingly sophisticated and fast moving hacking software.

What the hell kind of phone does he have the can hold the entire operating system of a super computer never mind its library. My phone can only hold half the music from my iTunes. Those super computers are usually an entire room's worth of hard drives, and processors. Your phone has one of each. With his data related ability his phone would be the first thing confiscated in the center. The computers present in the Auction Room are segregated from the system and only have enough access to certain other computers to impress prospective buyers, they wouldn't want a tech meta getting into one of the zones where powers work with a device that is networked.

Finally and this is more my fault for not explaining well (and if anyone else has made this mistake I apologize) but metas don't normally end up with more than one owner. Having a meta isn't like a trophy for rich people, they're bought by black market arms dealers and foreign revolutionaries, hackers and scientists. They have a variety of fates but usually the people who buy them have a job in mind for them, if they do it they get to live, if they won't do it or can't they are either sold back to the Center at a loss or killed. If a meta is sold back to the Center they are considered a bad investment. While the Center still made a profit they don't want to get a reputation for selling defective metas so the bad investment will usually end up being dissected. If you're in the Center you've either been captured by Center agents or sold to them by a bounty hunter. You won't have had an owner previously.

Firstly, why is it that everyone has it out for tech users? It sort of seemed like it was just lumped in there like "Oh yeah and no one likes these guys especially that faction SOUL" with no apparent cause or reason behind it. I mean tech users would have natural disadvantage in the ring without tech to manipulate but I would think that would make people want to keep them around so they could score easy wins and privileges.

If the faction was created to help tech users survive in the Center why would they hold seats for non tech users? For that matter why would non tech users apply knowing that the faction was formed around the concept of protecting tech users?

This is more a suggestion than a note but since you seem so fond of the four letter all in caps names (which I would assume stand for something) I would suggest changing the name of this faction to STEM. It stands for Science Technology Engineering Mathematics. It's a term used in scientific communities.

I'm just going to put this here. See what happens.

I do really like the idea and I would assume from his title "The Messenger" that he's some sort of well messenger for everyone in the prison. Since his ability... well I don't know how to say it without everyone else claiming that there ability falls under the same category but since his ability is almost a part of him as a physical entity (not saying that very well, hope you understand what I mean) I think I could have it so the ability dampeners don't work in quite the same manor on it so he could serve as the Messenger for the prisoners by mimicking the messages of different people and bringing them to others. And in that way since he serves as a neutral party between all the factions he can stay factionless and stay safe.

That being said with a cast this size I can't let you have a second character. If I let you have one then I will be required to let everyone else have a second and while I know not everyone would want that if enough did the RP would get mighty crowded especially since it is still open for new participants. That being said I don't see any reason why this character should go to waste so I propose two options. Either you can have this character and abandon your other one (not the most desirable), or you can turn this guy over to me to be used as an NPC. Maybe later in the game once things settle down or we lose membership I'll allow secondary characters but for the moment one character each.

Oh, and Clovis will be joining SOUL.
Invisible Man

What happened to that faction you were designing? Something based around strength abilities?

@Prince of Seraphs I edited my form to change the abilities and such. Please let me know if this works better for the story.

I like it and if I'm being honest it's nice to see someone enter a power that is not inherently destructive or combative. Kudos. Accepted. Now you can post it to the character tab.

@Everyone I do apologize if I'm coming off rather harsh, I'm just trying to be honest. If you feel I've judged your work with very little... tact then you're probably right. I'm not exactly a tactful guy and if at any point I say something that hurts you personally I do apologize and feel free to point it out. I think all of your are very good writers, whatever problems I might have with individual pieces of work or ideas you might come up with I do respect you as a fellow writer.

@Prince of Seraphs You should give away some lotion for all of those burns.

So I decided what to do with Manuel, and I'll go with one of your suggestions. I'll have him as a nominal faction member. Personality-wise he can't deal well with being an underling but I find it had to believe he could run a faction. So I'll join some faction, talk with either players here and set up an arrangement. Thanks for the help.

I choose to abandon Clovis. I know that seems a little bit too harsh, but I like the idea of Nariv better than Clovis. I merely created him just because I found Kinetic Absorption to be super cool, but the more I read his CS that I based around the power, the more I realized that I wouldn't like playing him in the long run. I know I should have said something, but I don't really like causing trouble so I would have just carried on, but when I got the idea for Voice Replication, I knew who I had to get inside of this RP. I must sound really stupid for waiting this long to tell you about Clovis, but I would like to request to replaced Clovis with Nariv if that would be ok with you.

Oh, well. Since you didn't say anything in the PM, I just thought you didn't like it! Probably shouldn't have jumped to that conclusion, but my mind works in mysterious ways. However, the Faction is null and void if Clovis is replaced, but I can still work on the MIR if you still have the need for such a faction to be placed inside of the Center. Though, I wouldn't really see why that would be so.

i don't even know if the Amazons could last long as a partnership after they escape. The leader isn't there or anything. If anything, they would just have a semi-loyalty to each other when it comes to the dangers of being a woman, but other than that, anything is free game.

For the people who joined the Amazons, what would you guys like to do after the escape?

Couple things @Prince of Seraphs.

1) I have just reread the bio and now realise how completely absurd it is. I have used Jason for a previous RP and decided to be lazy and rewrite his bio. They were okay with it so I thought it would be fine here too. But before I rewrite it, I need to clarify something in #2.

2) The ability is data manipulation, but there was one little piece of information I didn't read but used anyway. That piece is that it is DATA manipulation, which includes the genetic and biological information located within organic lifeforms. If he wanted, he could change that data to his liking and create a variety of effects, hence Malicious Form.

3) The phone is actually not the supercomputer Merlin itself, but rather it is connected to it through a data network. By connecting he is able to essentially access unlimited data, but it is primarily used for his technique of "Malicious Search" in which he observe a person and uses the information to scan the internet for all available information on them. This can include medical records, children, childhood, family members and other personal information.

4) I can understand if he can't get his own phone in, but through connections would he be able to get another phone in? Something of less power but capability. It would make it so his ability is actually use-able.

5) Yes, I did just assume that the tech metas would just get bullied because they have almost useless ability unless they can access things like technology. I will change this.

6) Thanks for the suggestion for a faction name, but they actually don't stand for anything. Though I have just come up with one. SITE, or Science Information Technology Electronics.

7) As for the resistance to the barrier, I was actually supposed to ask something important. Because metas that deal with technology are what they are, what are the chances that some develop resistance to electrical or otherwise interference with their brains? Because of their ability, I think it would slightly fit, even if it was just at about a third of their own powers capacity.

Here is Jason Reed and the faction SITE

I also rewrote a lot of stuff on here.

I feel like it would be beneficial for them to stick together. It seems like a pretty good team--Elizaveta is a good close range fighter, Orihime's pyrokinesis is useful for both short range and long range attacks and a variety of other uses, and Rin would be really good at gathering information. She'd be a useful fighter if she could get her hands on a weapon too. (And the fact that Rin would want people she could count on for protection...)

If they could join forces with another faction, it'd be even better but they might do fine on their own.

Him refusing to talk about this past seems a little bit like a cop out but I would assume (or at least hope) that that's a place holder till you get verification on #2.

By that logic data manipulation could mean the ability to alter reality. Ever piece of matter in the universe follows certain scientific principles and is built in specific structures that could be defined as Data. Plus being able to manipulate his genetic code (aside from having too many complications and prospective dangers than I can describe) would also invalidate anyone wanting to create a character with transformation abilities. And even if he could do it the fact is that the barriers still respond to the meta gene. In order to make it work on him less he'd be editing his own meta gene out of himself.

If (as the new bio suggests) this is a CIA super computer they would no doubt be able to detect Jason's intrusion. Especially since by your description of its functionality it plays a very important role in CIA operations. I'm not going to preclude the fact that he could use his ability to hack into this computer but the fact that he could stay connected to it through his phone and remain unmonitored and unnoticed, if the CIA didn't severe his link to the computer immediately they'd track his location and send a black ops squad.

4) I can understand if he can't get his own phone in, but through connections would he be able to get another phone in? Something of less power but capability. It would make it so his ability is actually use-able.

For favors from certain metas the guards have no problems sneaking in smokes, chocolate, and other such objects of enjoyment to the prisoners because it possess little risk to the guards and gets them something in return for almost nothing. Smuggling in a cell phone is a very different matter. A phone in the hands of a meta say like Jason could be a powerful weapon used for escape and if it was discovered that a guard passed that kind of object into the prison he'd be shot dead. No guard is going to risk that.

5) Yes, I did just assume that the tech metas would just get bullied because they have almost useless ability unless they can access things like technology. I will change this.

No one has working powers inside the prison, while the tech users wouldn't be much good in the arena they'd be just like all the other inmates outside of it. Also it still seems as though the rivalry between SOUL and SITE came out of nowhere.

I might agree with that logic if the Ability Dampening Barrier had anything to do with electricity. It uses background radiation to cause the metagene to go dormant. That has nothing to do with electricity or tech and so there would be no chance for resistance.

I also rewrote a lot of stuff on here.

I did express this before but having an owner for a meta is more or less the end for them. The owners are more than aware that the meta doesn't want to be there and would take appropriate precautions to ensure that they can't escape. This might include a bomb strapped collar, or such similar precautions. Maybe someone like Manuel could escape but not many metas do. And forgive me but Data Manipulation doesn't exactly lend itself to heroics.

Bearing that in mind no one comes to the Center. Metas do whatever they can to avoid ending up there. If a meta actually did attempt to storm the Center on his own in a vain attempt at rescue he'd more or less be regarded as "that idiot that actually thought he could bring this place down solo". Which doesn't exactly lend itself to people being willing to follow him in a faction. More likely he either becomes the butt of everyone's jokes or gets shanked in the yard.

So I decided what to do with Manuel, and I'll go with one of your suggestions. I'll have him as a nominal faction member. Personality-wise he can't deal well with being an underling but I find it had to believe he could run a faction. So I'll join some faction, talk with either players here and set up an arrangement. Cool, tell me what faction and I'll place your character there.

I choose to abandon Clovis. I know that seems a little bit too harsh, but I like the idea of Nariv better than Clovis. That's your call, if you don't mind me saying I always thought that Clovis looked a bit unpolished, not bad necessarily just a bit static. Post Nariv to the Character Tab and I'll put him into the top dock.

Oh, well. Since you didn't say anything in the PM, I just thought you didn't like it! Probably shouldn't have jumped to that conclusion, but my mind works in mysterious ways. Sorry I've been so busy with everything that it just sort of got lost in the shuffle. If you'd still be willing to polish the MIR I'd be willing to take a look at it. Even if no one joins it could serve as an antagonist faction.

I'm not gonna lie I just realised how completely irrelevant the character of Jason is. I mentioned him as a possible idea to use, but really just meant for him to be some added backstory with SOUL. I never meant to write a CS for him I just meant for him to be an NPC that doesn't get dragged along. It sounds lazy but I'm just gonna drop both SITE and Jason. I can't be bothered to rewrite his backstory and ability and Faction again so it'll be easier for me to just kill it.

Yeah, I would like to think that the wall would be inside of the Arena. They would rent the place out for a bit, like once a month, and get the aspiring MIR newbies to just punch a random somewhere inside of the arena, or they just bring random chunks of concrete or rock along with them. The guards would allow them to do that, right? It might be a stretch, but I think it would be kind of funny that way.
