They're known for extremely skilled armorers and craftsmen. The Westerlands are highly resource rich (not just the gold of Lannisters- there's other mines). The Westerlands were also known, while having smallers numbers, having superior trained troops to the rest of the Seven Kingdoms, with their only rivals (in military matters) being the North. They were sort of stupidly op when you think about it. Them and the Tyrells

North's benefits were military mindset, a huge freaking expanse, and vast untapped naturally resources. Downside: less dense population, frigid winter, a stupid sense of honor, and a tendency to lose their heads over things.

Vale: HEAVY Armored Knights and calvary, little in the way of light militia. Natural defensible terrain, and decent port cities. Problems: Remnants of the First Men being causing constant unrest as the hilltribes, raiding villages and traders. VERY little farmland.

This is assuming that the 100 Lonsghips of the Iron Fleet and the 500 of the Kraken Fleet don't send you to the Drowned God the second your miserable fleet sets off for Pyke

Highgarden is just water features, water features, limestone and vines, mazes, greenery. It's a fucking Fairytale castle, it really does read like something that sounds so comfortable, not a hard place like King's Landing, or with the sheer gravity or cold of The Eyrie or Winterfell respectively. Torrentpeak in the Reach is one region that I would like to see, it would be a perfect place for a confrontation between Reach and Dornish foces. A blend of mountains, high plateaus that are arid, kinda like Chile in places, it is also coastal and would be a sort of pivot-point if you want to invade Dorne around The Prince's Pass.

Oh, AND the Reach shits on the Crakehall Navy right now, by what figure I can't remember, but even if it is spread out, in a direct confrontation, they'd win. Though it's vulnerable to raids, and actually, should be a big target, it can get away with it. I could actually imagine that Garland would be merciful, if he ever did get his hands on any Crakehall, despite his wroth and cynicism, he'd probably keep them alive. It is all to be told- who knows.

The Reach has it's Knights, and as I have said, it's a lumbering machine. But Reach Knights are extremely well equipped, and their other forces are probably well equipped, some far, far better than others. Itss ground forces are capable, and as Garland has things decentralized, he can move his men in blocks, rather than one big blob, if it works to his advantage.
