@Redstring Another good point, though I never actually thought what dark magic does, since nosferatu clearly drains your life but ruin... meh, I always thought it kind of cut through people or something. To survive that and with 0 damage is another of the mysteries of fire emblem.

My personal head cannon is that nearly everything is lethal in the games. You only really get "hit" by anything when you run out of HP though.

That's basically how I rule damage in D&D. Your HP is a measure of how well you can avoid a lethal attack. So "getting hit" could mean you expended energy in dodging or blocking an attack that would be deadly, and lost HP in doing so.
