I've just realized that in all the 9 years I've been part of this site, I've never had to change my name, make an alt account or anything like that!

Ekaterine Volkov

"You cannot hide from me." The strange Inquisitor said, his voice sounding even louder than before.

"The Eyes can already see all that you are, children, and all that you could ever be." He continued his preaching, walking forward and clutching an artefact that was in his neck even harder than before...

"For fucks sake... There you go with the 'my child' talk again... You guys from the Heavens' Eyes are all the same... I can't deny that you hide some pretty... interesting things that I would love to put my hands into, but I just can't stand some of your more... fanatic members..." Ekaterine said, getting out of her cover and walking on the Inquisitor's direction, with her knife on her hand.

"I can taste the guilt of your pilot, who abandoned his family to the treachery of the Iron Dominion, where gold and blood rule; I can hear the whispers of your scholar's fears of his own loneliness, sharp and biting; I can feel the pinpricks of your Dragonkin's weakness, like a sapling in the wind, or a greyhound on the run, only useful until it can move no longer; and most of all, I can smell the revulsion that your Dryad cannot ignore when she sees my face, my eyes, and knows that I am not a person as she knows it. I know all that you are, and you cannot hope to prevail in your pathetic mission." he continued, talking about every single one of the other members, saving for her.

"Ugh... creepy... Are you a stalker or something?" she said, provoking him with a grin.
"Although I must say... I feel quite ignored here... You haven't mentioned my name even once in your entire speech! Is your ego so big that you forgot who is standing in front of you?" she said, spinning the knife in her hand, standing a few meters away from him, blocking his path.

Stretching herself with her hands behind her head, she made a discreet hand signal for the Ariah, who was probably watching, showing three fingers on her hand and then closing it in a fist, shortly after showing only two fingers and joining them together. He would know what she meant by that. While she and Ariah dealt with the inquisitor, the others would deal with the ones who were boarding the ascendo.

"You know... We can be more similar than you may think... We both know that information and knowledge can be sharper than any blade, and more valuable than any jewel. That's why you Eyes are so full of secrets... So desperate to hide this knowledge you have from the rest of the world. Your greed for power is the base of your entire organization, or I should said 'religious sect'?"

"But who am I to judge you? After all, I too, seek for more knowledge, and thus, power. But unlike you, I don't do it with religious purposes, or try to hide it under the guise that I am actually 'protecting' the others from this dangerous knowledge. I do it simply because I like it. I like power, and I like to kill. Its actually pretty simple. I like to know about things. After all, information is not only a weapon for me, but it also means money and even more interesting things to do and know."

"But the biggest difference between us at the moment, is that I'm currently, your enemy." Ekaterine said, stopping spinning her dagger and assuming a combat posture, low on the ground, ready to pounce on the inquisitor.

Before she could attack him, the best thing to do would be try to know which weird magic he would attack with, so she could estimate his abilities and make a plan to evade his attacks. She trusted Ariah. He knew what he had to do. After all, it wasn't the first time that her and Ariah needed to face a strong enemy.
Isis Nasri

"Who does he think he is?! Damn... embarrassing me like that in front of everyone..." Isis thought to herself as the helicopter landed.

"So cocky and arrogant! He made me look like a complete fool!! How should I possibly know that he would let out such a comment? How was I supposed to react to it?" she thought, looking at Nathan with a sharp, annoyed expression.

"Hmpf!" Isis looked away from Nathan, avoiding looking to him.

To a man show that he was interested on her wasn't something bad, in fact it was something to be proud of, but the way she was caught off guard, blushing heavily and looking like a foolish little child made her slightly irritated.
She wasn't very used to being with other people, so things like love, flirting and etc. were a mystery to her. Animal behavior and human behavior regarding choosing a mate were completely different, and as much as she tried, she couldn't explain, understand or possibly be prepared to "love" or romantic advances.

Just after they landed, they were immediately taken from the helicopter with their gear, apparently to a briefing on the situation.
"But what about Bas-" Isis tried to say, but was the ones helping to unload the helicopter didn't even pay attention on her.

"Name's Johnson. I'm the chief around here and set to brief you on the situation." a man came to them, shaking Jake's hands.

The Treehouse was a beautiful place. As Johnson took them somewhere, Isis couldn't help but be completely distracted by how beautiful everything was. Living there, in the top of the trees, near the wild would be probably insane to most people behind the wall, but for Isis, it was almost a dream. Although she had already travelled outside the walls many times, she had never came to the Treehouse.

"Started... days ago.... Pillar of Light..."
Only small parts of the briefing actually reached Isis' ears. Completely forgetting about Nathan and his comment, why she was mad or even their actual reason to be there, she was simply awestruck by how beautiful the place was.

"Wanna see what you're to look into? You're just in time for the show." Johnson said, pressing a button and lowering the blast walls.
The view Isis was graced with was nothing short of spectacular. Breathtaking. If she wasn't paying attention earlier, now it would be even harder.

Thankfully, a very strange and unnatural view made her actually ask herself what was happening. A bright pillar of light in the horizon. It certainly was weird and unnatural. Such thing... what was it?
Quickly looking around, she was able to assess the situation with the short fragments of the briefing that she remembered. Nobody there knew what it was. They only knew that it happened regularly.

Just like Johnson and the others, she hadn't even a single clue of what that was. But she surely was curious. She wanted to see it with her own eyes, get closer to try to understand what it was. From where it was coming and where it was going.

"There is no way that is a natural event. Aliens! Has to be aliens. First monsters, now aliens." Reed said, interrupting her thoughts.

"I don't know about aliens... but certainly its not natural... It is quite beautiful though..." she thought to herself, looking to the weird phenomenon.

"We don't know. Any scan we try to make is blocked by some sort of interference and we can't see that far from here to tell ourselves. Like I already said... We don't know shit. So how's about you do your damn job and find out! And how about you start taking this seriously you disrespectful little shit! Or is the future of humanity some big joke to you?" Johnson said, quite irritated.

"We will probably have to get near it to see it with our own eyes. I must say, I'm rather curious about it." she said, with her eyes shining, reflecting the light from the pillar. She wasn't even trying to hide her excitement. New, strange things made her very curious. That curiosity was sometimes good, sometimes bad, but undoubtedly it was part of the traits that made her such a fine scout.

As they were taken by a very grumpy and irritated Johnson to their new craft, which was presented to them after a long and angry sermon of how old, unique and valuable it was, Jake finally turned to them.
"Ok team, load up. I wanna get in the air before nightfall and we got a long journey ahead of us." he said, looking to the rest of the crew.

"Umm... I don't want to interrupt Jake... But they kinda forgot to take Bastet out of her cage... I'm rather preoccupied about what will she do... She tends to get rather agitated when she is away fro-" Isis was saying, before being interrupted by a loud, metallic noise, and some alarmed shouts.

"WAIT!! SHE IS WITH ME! CALM DOWN!" she yelled, as a big black shadow approached them, running through the base, making quite a fuss by jumping over vehicles, soldiers and equipment.
The big duvari jumped on Isis as it got near her, rubbing itself against her, showing affection.
"Bastet!! Calm down! So impatient..." she said, hugging the duvari, laughing as it played with her.

"That was what I was saying Jake... She hates being far from me..." Isis said, still playing with Bastet.
"Anyways.. I don't think she will enter in another cage for some time... Just let her inside of the ship with me. She has already travelled in another ships, and she knows how to behave, Don't you, Bastet? Naughty girl!"

"Well, me and Bastet are ready. What about you all guys?" she asked, avoiding Nathan, still annoyed with what happened earlier.
@13org Oh the topic of Isis however... In this world I want you to think of your bow like the bow from Crisis 3 if you've played it. True it's a bow, but it's like... a HIGH-TECH bow. And one that can fire a bunch of special arrows that our resident inventor will be able to make from scavenged Wild World stuff.

Loved the idea!

PS: you forgot Bastet again. I wont let you get away easily this time!

Bastet hates being forgotten, y'know...
Ekaterine Volkov

"You don't seem heated. Come on though, at least be a little ready. We've got a place to be and by the sounds of it we should really think about getting there soon." Ariah answered, joining her and the others on the hall.

"Things are still calm, don't worry. I may look like this, but when the guns start blazing, I'll be ready." She answered him giving a tap on the rifle on her back.

Eka is right, I never introduced myself huh? My name is Aura Lockheart, a pleasure to meet all of you! I can't wait to have tons of puns and fun with you all!" The delicate sharpshooter answered.

"Aura Lockheart huh? She definitely seems to be an interesting one." Ekaterine thought to herself. The girl certainly didn't look the part. Cheerful, easygoing and happy, she seemed to be just a normal girl.
It would be interesting to see how that delicate thing would deal with death, blood and the cruelty that they would face while working together.

"Let's get going Ariah. The others are already on their way... Oh, and keep your weapons ready. We will probably have to spill some blood when we get there." She said, walking out without even trying to hide her appearance, after all, if they were smart enough to get the head behind all the operation, the probability of them knowing who was working with him were high.

When they arrived on the docks, it was just like she foresaw. A bunch of Enforcers were already there, probably on guard or searching for the Ascendó.

Spotting Aura and the other ones, taking cover from some forcers, Ekaterine and Ariah went near them, also taking cover.

"Hey again, Aura. Call me Kat." She said with a wink
"You have a very interesting personality for someone who gets paid by killing..." She said again, with a chuckle.

But they didn't have time for keep chating around idly.
"Brothers... we are being watched." The voice of an inquisitor echoed through the dockyard. It sounded... Inhuman and powerful.

"They know we are here." Kat whispered, immediately changing her tone to a serious and cold one.

"Aura, keep your eyes on the inquisitor who just spoke... Something isn't right... His voice doesn't sound... Human at all. I'll try to get him, try to take out the ones getting on the ship." She said her eyes focused on the inquisitor as he walked on their direction. He had one of his hands on his pocket, holding something.

"Get ready, he is coming. Let's see if I can deal with him quickly, before he uses any weird trick." She said, getting her knife in her hand and silently repositioning herself, using the boxes to hide her from the inquisitor coming on their direction.

Ekaterine was literally circling her prey, keeping her eyes on him as he walked up the ramp. Once he passed by her, she would pounce on him with her knife. On that age of guns and rifles, people were always very surprised to see a knife.

A bit of lore regarding the Grimorium Verum.

If the spatial distortion created by a Pariah Dream's entry into Navain had not brought Rose's attention to the task before her, the yelp certainly would have. She smiled, slightly, and adjusted her hood to better view the new arrival. It seemed, at the least, that the girl was fascinated with the form granted by her Manifestation. Rose took light steps from the Hollow Egress' maw and down the short series of stairs.

"Hate to burst ya bubble, but this ain't a dream, Trickster," grass parted with her passage, a light breeze rolling through the plain,
"it's a place called Navain." Her smile widened a bit, as she looked the girl up and down, taking a seat a few feet away.
"Nice to meet ya! Name's Rose, and I'm here to help ya along." Her tone was much the same as it always was, tinged with a strange accent and an underlying enthusiasm.
"Seems like you're gonna take a likin' to this place! S'definitely a good sign!"

Amaya was too busy, lost in her own thoughts, playing in the field to notice another person coming closer to her.

Amaya jumped back, in surprise as the woman talked to her.

"So, its all... Real?" She asked, looking to her, still confused.

"For sure! This place is just as real as the world you're from," Rose motioned to the field that surrounded them with one hand, plucking a small flower with the other and rolling its stem between her fingers.
"But it ain't a place you can get to by normal means."

"So I really died back there huh? Never thought that my life would end like that..." Amaya said, looking to her own body once more. Her new body was definitely the proof that something happened with her.
If she heard that on other situation, she wouldn't believe, but the pain, the things that happened to her felt real... The wounds... The blood...

She nodded, offering the Trickster a look of sympathy.
"Yeah, as bad as it is. Chances are pretty high that you were offed by a Slaughter Doll. It happens to all the Dreams that come through here. That's what you are, by the way." Rose watched the girl looking herself over.
"Ah, yeah, that's ya Manifestation. It's, uh...well, it's something for ya to figure out. It's the brand new you."

"I believe you. I don't know why, but I actually believe you..."
She said, making a line on the ground with her claws.

"Anyways, let the past stay in the past. Name's Amaya. Pleased to meet you, Rose. " She said, sitting down.

"I've never heard about this place before... Not even in religious books... Navain, was it? Is it some sort of afterlife or something?" She asked, genuinely curious about the situation.

A slight giggle escaped the Guide's lips, as she tossed the flower aside. "Thanks! That makes my job a lot easier, Amaya." She rocked back and forth, slightly, putting a finger to her lips.

"Well," she said around the digit, lightly biting down, "that ain't a big surprise. Navain isn't something that comes up often, in Corporeal Reality. I wouldn't call it an afterlife, not by a long-shot. It's more complex than somethin' like that." Giving a winning smile, she continued,
"But telling ya about it is kinda forbidden to me, at the moment. I'll be happy to explain, once ya meet up with the others and get out of the Hollow Egress." She motioned over her shoulder to the concrete fortress at her back.

"Oh, and will I stay like this forever?" She asked, looking to Rose with feline eyes and a mischievous smile.

"Because I must tell you... I like this body way more than the last one!" She said with a big smile and shining eyes.

"Simple things like running around, pouncing and playing in the grass never felt so good!" Amaya said, purring as she laid, down in the grass again , with her tail lazily swinging around above her.

Rose nodded, appreciating the enthusiasm the girl seemed to exude. "You'll only change back if you wanna! It definitely seems to suit ya personality, if I ain't bein' rude!" She wiggled, a little, scooting forward to give the Trickster a conspiratorial whisper. "You get to stay that way, if that's how ya wanna do it, even when ya go back to your world. Consider it a gift from me to you! Of course, it ain't somethin' that's free. Which brings me back to my point from earlier. I need your help, Feline Trickster. Navain needs your help."

"Oh... And one more question, why have you called me trickster? I'm sure this is the first time we met each other." She said rolling in the tall grass, stopping with her belly up and looking at her.

"Oh, right! Sorry 'bout that! I keep callin' ya 'Trickster' because it's ya Title! All of the Dreams have one, and it kinda goes hand-in-hand with ya Manifestation. The beings that inhabit this place will most likely know you by your Title." Rose's smile faltered, for the first time since their conversation began. "It's because of that name that you're here, in this field. I need you to go into that building, over there, it's called the 'Hollow Egress', by the way, and meet up with the other Dreams. Not just yet, ya know, I figure you've still got a few questions that I might need to answer."

"Oh, don't worry about that. I was a little surprised because some people used to call me trickster when I was still alive. I do like the sound of it though... 'Feline Trickster'" Amaya said, repeating the name for hersellf.

"Hm... And by Corporeal Reality I suppose you mean the normal world, right? Hm... It really is complicated but I think I got the basic of it. I will be sure to pay attention on you when we get inside the Hollow Egress, sensei." Amaya said with a giggle.

Complicated or not, Amaya was quite curious about all that. Rose didn't seem to be a bad person, she felt that she could be trusted.

"Sure, I will help you, why not?" Amaya said, looking to her with a smile on her face.
Perhaps Rose didn't expect such a straightforward answer, but to Amaya, things were really simple. She was very curious about all that and she never refused to help someone in need.

"I suppose it's only fair. After all, I do get to stay with this wonderful and fun new body even if I return to the normal world~" she said, stretching herself on the grass, just like a cat would do, before standing up.

"About other questions, you don't need to worry yourself about it. I'm fine for now. I believe that the rest of the questions I have will be answered when I meet with the others inside the big , strange building, am I right?" She asked, studying the building which Rose called Hollow Egress.

"Yep, that's pretty much on point! Ya catch on quick, Amaya, and I appreciate that ya willin' to help out. I can't imagine s'gonna be so easy with some of the others." Rose stood, balancing on the tips of her toes for a brief moment. "Keeping the questions to a minimum is pretty gutsy. I like that! I won't be able to talk to you, once you pass through that doorway, though. Or, well, I won't unless you find a Node." She put her hands into the pockets of her hoodie and took a few steps back. "Nodes are super shiny, so I bet you'll sniff one out pretty easy." A chuckle and a smile accompanied the words. "I'll be tuned in, so if you find one just put ya hand on it and call out for me. Inside the Hollow Egress ain't gonna be anything like out here, just so ya know. It's a, uh, whatcha might call a 'distortion' in Navain. Ya might run across some real violent entites, in there. But, with ya Manifestation...I can't imagine that they'll be more than you and the crew can handle!"

"I will be on my way, to wait for the others, then. Thanks for the warm welcome!" Amaya said, winking playfully to Rose before walking calmly in the direction of the building.

Rose made her way to the stairs and took a seat, drawing her knees to her chest, speaking to Amaya without fully turning. "Still, be careful, ok? Ya primary goal in the Hollow Egress is to find ya Anchor. You'll definitely know when ya see it. Good luck, Trickster! I'm lookin' forward to meetin' up with ya, again!"
Sorry for the delay, will have my post done by tomorrow.
Lila Moriarty

Lila carefully heard as the strange dragonkin talked. It was hard to decipher him, his voice wasn't threatening, his movements weren't menacing, but he was still very suspicious. She simply couldn't see through his intentions.

"Do not fear me. I am no threat. A friend no. But an enemy even less." He said, in a cryptic tone.
Lila maintained her pose. She might be young, but she had shed too much blood already to be fooled by smooth words.
He claimed he wasn't a threat, but he hadn't even lifted a finger to help her with the cultists.
"Either he is with me, or against me." she though to herself, trying to analyze the mysterious dragonkin without success.

That was when she was interrupted by two cultists. Their movements were synchronized, even the way how they held their blades. They cackled as they surrounded Lila. Their synchronized movements were actually helping Lila, as she only needed to focus on one of them, and she would automatically know where the other was.

"Boring.. these are no challenge at all for you.." the dragonkin whispered. The cultists immediately looked around, afraid that they weren't alone. The last thing Lila saw was the dragonkin making a signal with his hand to her remain silent. After that, the dragonkin disappeared completely. Sound, smell, nothing. It was like his existence was completely erased, even for Lila's enhanced senses. Lila was surprised about that. Nobody had ever escaped her senses like that... Who was he?

Two loud blows broke the silence as he reappeared in front of Lila. The two cultists flew with the impact, their bodies falling shortly after he reappeared. She wasn't able to even see his attacks. He would indeed be very troublesome to deal with if he turned out to be her enemy.

Apparently oblivious about Lila's distrust on him, he simply stood there, with a smirk on his face, looking down at her, due to his height. Although he was inside Lila's range, he didn't seem to be even a little worried about that. Was that trust or arrogance? Was he putting himself inside the range of Lila's weapon purposely, to say he wasn't an enemy, or he was simply there because he was sure that she wouldn't hit him even if she did attack?

The thought that he was actually looking down on her, not seeing her as a threat irritated Lila, but nevertheless, he had proven his point. Lila had a delicate and inoffensive appearance, she was aware about that fact, but even after seeing her killing the cultists in one swift attack he was still standing there, looking at her. Not even the most courageous warrior would purposely put his body in front of a blade.

"My name is Wasu and I intend to observe. However I was distracted by your presence.. Lila. Oh. I am entirely weaponless."

"Wasu... I can't say I trust you, but you have proven your point."
"The enemy of my enemy is my friend, at least for now." she said, lowering her scythe. Whoever was that man, she would watch him very closely. He knew Lila even though she had never seen him before. His abilities, his objectives... he was covered in secrets. And Lila didn't liked that even one bit.

But she had more important things to worry about right now than Wasu, for example the heat and the horrible smell of burnt corpses coming from the battlefield, behind the jungle.
"Fire..." Lila mumbled to herself.
"Farewell, Wasu. The next time we meet I will have my answers." she said, grabbing her scythe and heading to the battlefield to help the soldiers. Whatever it was the situation there, surely it wasn't very pretty, especially with the heat and the terrible smell of burnt corpses coming from the battlefield.
Isis Nasri

"She'll be fine, Isis. Just wait 'til we're on the ground and she'll be back to her normal self." Spook said, referring to Bastet.

"I know... But I cant help but be worried about her..." Isis said, putting one hand on the cargo door.

"Anyways, when we get out of the helicopter, don't be afraid. IF you haven't seen Bastet or any other of the Nasri's Duvari, they are different than the common ones you use as mounts. They are bigger, stronger, more agile and more aggressive. Unlike others bred in captivity, they still have all their wild instincts as sharp as a knife. Just... be careful when getting nearby us when we are sleeping." she said smiling awkwardly.

"But I can assure you she wont do you guys any harm."

"I could be here for a majority of reasons, but if I had to assume which ones, it would most likely be that I am both your medic and your seer. And it isn't the wild that's the problem, it's The Other... Regardless, I'll do my best to keep you all alive out there." Matthias said, drawing Isis attention when he spoke about The Other.

"The Other..." she repeated, biting her lower lip.
Corruption, unnatural things that were affecting the balance of the natural world. There was only one way to deal with them, and that was to kill every single one of them.
"I... Thanks for your help, both as a medic and as a seer." she said, looking to Matthias.
"The Other. They affect the balance of the natural world, corrupting the nature and everything they touch..." she said, looking outside the window as they passed by a big tree, towering above others on the jungle.

"Thanks for the vote of confidence Isis. I'll be sure to sleep cozy come nightfall. And hey! I'm sure they let one of you along with us because every team needs a nut job." Commander Jake said, with a cheerful tone.

"Well, our methods are certainly different from the other rangers', but if we are talking about going outside in the jungle, we are among the best. Oh, and don't worry, our bows can pierce even the strongest hides." she said, getting her bow on her back and showing it to them, the sharp, carbon bow string vibrating as she touched it.

"These gloves are actually not just for me to fight and climb trees, but if I try to use my bow without them, it will hurt my hand pretty badly... Actually, it might even damage or even sever tendons in more extreme cases..." she said, flexing her hands in front of her, the small, dagger-like fingernails making a low metallic sound as they touched each other.

"Why we still use bows? Well... they don't jam, fail or break as easily as guns... They are very resistant to adverse weather, its ammunition can be reused and if we run out of ammo, we can do more with things we can find in the wilderness."

Almost as if she had listened Isis talking about bow and hunting, Bastet growled in the cargo compartment. Instead of just the sounds that a normal Duvari would make on that situation, it was almost like it heard what Isis said and it was answering her, communicating with her.

"Don't worry Bastet. You'll be able to run free soon enough. I promise we'll hunt something tasty for us tonight." she said giggling as Bastet growled happily.

"I will prepare part of it for us too, don't worry." she whispered to the rest of those in the cabin, in a playful tone.

Isis was already lost in her own thoughts again, leaning herself on a window, looking at the jungle down below, but she was surprised by a comment made by James.
"So basically I'm here to watch you all run into the fray as I find a nice comfy tree or piece of land to lay in and watch over your asses. Especially yours Isis...Woof.

"M-mine?!" Isis asked, turning her head sharply to face James before immediately becoming self conscious about the pose she was making and turning her back to the wall, blushing.

"Don't!! I... I mean, I don't need anyone taking care of me but... It would be good to have someone watching over my bu... back in a combat, so I can focus on my prey without having to worry..." She tried to answer, stumbling over her words, but his comment caught her completely off guard, and she didn't have any idea on how to respond to that... Being told that she was pretty or someone of the opposite sex showing desire to her wasn't exactly something to be offended, no, it was completely the opposite, but she didn't know how to react to that.

In the wild, males would usually show their interest on females, and if their genes were strong enough, the female would then...
"Wait... why am I thinking about that?!?!" she thought to herself, sitting and looking down, blushing heavily.
