I got this idea for magic from "Masters Of The Five Magicks"

Okay let's try for better originality.

Alchemy
Alchemy is basically a form of Platonic philosophy called "Forms". Forms are concepts that represent true reality, which exert their power over the flawed reality of the physical world. This doctrine of Forms states that every alchemical ingredient has attributes, which indicate the possible powers it may yield when blended in a potion. Alchemy needs physical ingredients to function, which differentiates it from magick.

Magick
Magick is the most classical "Use hand gestures and spoken words for power" type of spell casting. In order to create a magical object, or to enchant one's self or someone else, rituals have to be performed perfectly. The reason for this is that Magick is basically channeling The Form(s) that the Mage knows into reality. Most Mages combine Alchemy and Magick together to cast spells. Think of Magick as whispers of Form.

Wizardry
While the other spells can be used from different languages, Wizardry it'self is cast by words that are innately magical. Spells from wizards are words that are innately powerful. Master wizards rarely cast spells of this form of magic with more than three words in a chain at once. Even three Words in one spell is equated to that of a master. Wizardry speaks Form into existence directly. If Alchemy and Magick is basically the Moon shining down at night, Wizardry is a bright Sunny day.

Wizardry is a process of studying Forms. Proper study of Form(s) will allow the Wizard to learn more about magic, making the Wizard more like what they study until they are no longer just studying The Form, but infuse themselves with the power and esoteric qualities of Form(s) it'self.

In general, this goes for all interested and potential players, the gods in this roleplay are neither omniscient (the very fact you 'spawned' in a world without your knowledge attests to this), nor omnipresent (gods, in all their power, still can't be everywhere, all at once. Certain Domains could help facilitate an increased awareness of things, but in general...

Deities are able to sense:
  • everything within a certain range of their true bodies
  • any of their followers or sacred relics
  • any of their temples, and
  • any other, non-believer, that dares utter their true name out loud).

Additionally, being under the protection of greater deity can shield a mortal or lesser deity from the scrutiny of another greater deity. More on divine ranks later.

They could be said to have limited omnipotence (any action that falls within one of their Domains is infinitely more easier to do than if it wasn't).

Will we be a Pantheon or will the gods be more like RPG deities?
As soon as I saw this I had to apply. I'm technically in another god game but it's dead.
I had to edit my CS a few times due to the fact I'm so excited to try this.

Oop, do I need to bring my sheet over here?

Yes please. :D
I am. I am currently waiting for more character submissions to inform my character choice. In the meantime, I am trying to wrap my head around what I can put for my per-level character powers. Emma's powers look like they were heavily inspired by the Pathfinder WotR game while Charles' powers appear more free-form. I'm not quite seeing all of the powers Randomguy chose for Emma in the linked Wiki, so I'm trying to find other sources to clue me in on what I can pick for powers for Amelie and Nicholas.

Over in the discord, someone just told another player that he could just substitute the Pathfinder things for his own interests. So, you can go ahead and put whatever for your powers as long as it makes sense and isn't OP.
Are you guys still interested in this?
we have the Union of some name I haven't figured out yet for the EU style country where ther'es sort of a UK/Germany/France/Spain amalgamation, with similar cultures. This country which is in the West of Mer, and neighbors a Russia analog I haven't made up the name for yet. There's a China analog/Japan/India, etcetera to the far East, a middle Eastern place an Africa locale.

Mer MIGHT have an American like place and a mirror of our own cultures. Not to be boring but because I was thinking Mer is in another dimension, maybe it is in the same physical location as Earth, but is a dream realm of some sort. Another idea I have is that it's not a dream world but it's a world in another dimension that is influenced by the dreams of Earth denizens.
