I hope you're all still accepting male characters? I was thinking of a gent with a particular fancy for Cheshire, someone just as much of a trickster as him. Hopefully they'd get along

The Purge movies are already hard to stomach because they require you to suspend your suspension of disbelief in a way that isn't even accurate to do so.
I'll be frank and say there is a number of psychological articles and a bunch of articles, with the right research, that already deconstructs the Purge as a rather unrealistic situation. I would not be able to suspend my disbelief with a Purge like incident in someone's history. It comes off a bit campy.
How about drawing parallels from our real world? Change her name. Start doing research about the Middle East. That be an interesting thing. Or the regime of North Korea.
There are more real world incidents you could draw from, but instead of developing the history from a fictitious source that is unbelievable, to a realistic source written from a fictitious point of view.
I hope that makes sense.
