So, whoever is controlling Scarlett, Light can recruit you. Same for Santa.
"Aliens... yay. Guess I'll have to commission the government for some sort of sensor or something. I've seen enough movies to know they will either fully invade, or be smart and send spies first to assess the situation. Yay TV." Light said, casually sitting on a stump as she listened to Constantine's little speech. She wasn't so aware of where constantine was herself, as she was off on a string of missions when he went missing and while Cedric mentioned he was dead, Light didn't really believe it herself as the circumstances laid out were too... convenient.

Cedric took Owlman away with him to be healed up by Healing Spore, disappointing a nearby ambulance that Light had called to aid him as she was unaware of Cedric apparently having a teleporting meta under his command. Light, seeing no real reason to be here ad the others could probably handle Jaden, decided to go off into the town.

It didn't take long for news crews to swarm her after the toppling of a building and the hordes of monsters that were at a once big business building. Most asked her for a statement or something, and while she was aware of the trope that heroes didn't deal with the media, Light was the opposite. Saying that she would only answer a couple questions as she had somewhere to be, she explained to the news crew. "The building you saw fall was the home of some rogue group that was turning citizens into monsters, as you are no doubt aware, and I rescued. That building being their main base. We destroyed the group and sent them fleeing with the cops taking in some of the monsters for questioning that we convinced to defect. I'd like to thank the LAPD for their timely response and I hope all of you will attend the ceremonies to mourn those who had been lost in the fight." That last bit was to guilt trip the media hounds, who did pause them a bit. Taking that as a way to get going, Light said she had to go, pulled out a hole, and moved away from the group with a smile and a wave.

It took a few holes before she got away from the big media group, and she found herself in front of a flower shop when she was confident they had all been left behind. She decided to go inside to grab something for the injured and deceased, as it didn't take much time out of her schedule and they'd probably appreciate that. When she entered, she noticed that Loki was there talking with a girl Light couldn't really remember well. She greeted the pair as she browsed for flowers to buy.

Just ask J.K. Rowling to do just that then. <.<;

That being said, this RP is using those very whimsical laws as you so aptly put. ._.

Just -Sunglasses- Deal with it. It's meant to be more whimsical and hopefully, a little more fun. It isn't nearly as astringent as say..LotR or anything similar.

Which also means there's no realistic way to patch them up in this RP, if we run into them; which is likely the further it may get. That being said, it's meant to have fun, not powerplay the laws to get to any sort of extremes or advantageousness over another player/NPC.

Alrighty. Books 1-4 were alright, its when 5 and later came around that the major major plotholes came up. Esp liquid luck in book 6 being such a mcguffin. So if your staying with 1-4 logic instead of 5-7+ logic, I'm fine with that xD. The logic between those two books is completely different, lol.

Though you can see all the plotholes I bring up right?

1. Because there's really just not much to protect against it. If the wizard is stronger than you, or has a stronger will, and your spells clash...you lose. Sad to say. (The only difference is Harry Potter, and how he got lucky with the protection of his Mother.) The lack of a cost is what it is, but it's just how the system works. That being said killing people (Avada Kedavra) has been known to take a toll on the soul of the caster. (Not tossing further information out to cause spoilers or anything of the sort)

2. I'm under the presumption that Liquid Luck, while it is extremely useful, is either lawbound to restrict the amount you can make because of its effects. Or it's extremely hard to make due to the rarity of the components required to concoct it. You can't make a spell of it simply because you can't, or the spell hasn't been created yet, and at that point it would only have one use so you'd have to keep recasting it. (Sounds relatively impractical)

1. Yet there are ward spells that can be bound to cloths or objects, so why is it that one spell has no ward against it, considering its the most dangerous? You'd think they'd make that one a priority to make a ward spell against, but haven't. Thats pretty incompetent considering its existed for what... thousands of years or something? And what dictates power? That is just so vague...

2. The rare components makes sense, but laws against it means nothing when the ones who are supposed to uphold these laws can be overthrown by 3 people who have no qualms about using the death curse that apparently can't be dodged or warded or defended against in any way, shape, or form. And what exactly is the point of potions when you can make a spell that does it with the only requirement being a wave of your hand? Its incredibly inconsistent with no explanation as to why or why not certain things can or can't be done. Just because "they can't" with no reason behind it isn't an explanation. Plus why didn't Voldimort, having access to apparently the entire government's resources in the 7th book, just mass produce that luck potion considering he has the entire government under his foot and be unstoppable?

Basically when you make the one who is supposed to uphold laws woefully incompetent and having little power, laws mean nothing. When you say something can't happen because it can't without any explanation, isn't a reason it can't be done. Add in they establish "this spell can't be penetrated by anything." AKA the reason Harry had to go to the dursleys every year, yet later in the books there was a spell that could easily break that same enchantment, and the only reason that was given was "because its monitored", monitored by a government with less than 50 police tied to it and very little power to do anything against anyone who spits out death curses left, right, and center, which means why didn't Voldimort just use that spell in the first place? Plotholes everywhere. :(

I'd really like some way to patch them up.

o.o

Um...nowhere near that. There's specific rules, wand movements, and the like. Nothing like blowing up a planet though. ._.

The banned spells are ones that kill one person, cause a person great pain, mentally control someone...etc etc etc.

Well heres the thing. Why isn't there a way to protect from those 'forbidden spells' like in almost every other magic based lore? My problem is just how... inconsistent... the potter universe is with its spell lore. And going back to the start, there is no 'cost' to casting a spell. You could just spit out death ones back to back like a machine gun and not feel any ill effects until you just got tired of flicking your arm. And well, spells used for plot convenience even though they clearly contradict previous lore and lots of fun little inconsistencies and that stuff which confuses me and lots and lots of logic gaps and everything.

One example of a logic gap is that there is that liquid luck potion that does scary phenomenal things, and you can make this thing in your back yard. Why isn't that just made, stockpiled, and turned into pills or something, and/or why don't people just make this stuff and everything? And what makes it so that you can't make a spell that does the same thing, why does it have to be a potion? Basic things like that are what I'm confused about if that makes sense.
I've got a couple questions.

1. Is this open?

2. And this is a pretty big one. How exactly does magic work in the Harry potter universe? It seems to have no limit in what it can do. Just have a wand and bam, you could blow up the planet with the proper spell and besides the planet blowing up, you'd not even feel a little winded minus the physical exertion of flicking the wand. That always confused me.

Yes Drain Field is a good ability in DB Xenoverse, it also only creates a barrier in front of the person, not around them like your Void Shield, meaning that it is possible to shoot around the Field Drain barrier if you're smart enough. So what you are saying here is that as a Majin she would retain pretty much all the same abilities and then some, which is not what I had in mind and I would be even less likely to approve in that event. Now I can see what you were trying for here and certainly you wouldn't be able to single-handedly take on a lot of the tougher villains that will appear; however, think of it like this, your character, as she stands, has a rather large advantage over most of the other player characters which easily creates an imbalance during the roleplay. The character does not seem fun to fight in a normal battle, nor fun to take advantage of because of her weakness to silver and iron.

Also that whole 'fade from existence' part is just plain ridiculous for a player character to have. So I have to stand my ground here as the GM and still say not approved. I don't like not approving characters with obviously some good thought put into them but a GM has gotta do what a GM has gotta do.

Let me end on a lighter note by saying I thought the Adaptive Regenerative Essence was a cool idea, being able to temporarily boost one's defenses against a particularly annoying skill to help in a quick rematch. A nice idea that added a bit of strategy to the character since it was only temporary and not a permanent defensive boost.

Ya know, I could point out the fact that Guldo can stop time, and is known as one of the worst DBZ characters even though he has such a completely broken ability. Same with Captain Ginyu, who could just keep swapping bodies until he stole Beerus's body or Whis's body or something. I can swap Void Shield to act exactly like draining field, though I think I was thinking of Super 17's version of draining field from BT3 where it was a sphere, but you had to time it or something. Oh well.

And how would you have her deal with a regenerating enemy when she can't blast them into oblivion? DBZ is so weird to balance for, because everyone is broken in one way or another. Babidi should've never lost for example because he can teleport people, but yeah, he was super easy to take down so... its kinda weird to say what is and what isn't broken when it comes to DBZ.

And of course, anyone over a power level of 20k can blow up a planet, so at that point things get weird when it comes to balance when anyone can just force everyone into space.

And Majins are pretty much broken due to their undefined weird magical powers where your imagination is what they can do, so yeah.

TDLR: what would you do with all of that? / how would you make a physical attacker that can not ki blast in a world of planet busters?
My character...

Draining Field is a fun ability in DB Xenoverse, and thats basically what Void Shield is, just with a name change.

Void Siphon is a way for her to beat regenerating world busters like Cell / buu / ext since she can't just hit them with a giant energy blast and vaporize them.

With no numbers, its hard to say what the rate of her abilities / her drains would be.

if she was a Majin, she probably wouldn't change much, besides losing the metal weakness and gaining the rubbery body and candy beam, making her more powerful. the idea behind that weakness was to make her a threat to the big bads, but a Mr. Satan would beat her pretty soundly or somehting.
I can also make her a majin instead if you want.

Name: Light

Appearance: Light is a 1.65 meter tall pure white humanoid with a skinny neck, overly large head with equally large black/orange eyes (like a majins eyes, just bigger) No nose and a smallish mouth with blue jelly featherlike hair and aquatic looking ears. She had comically large forearms and hand with no visible wrist, wears a white dress with a blue top and blue trim, the front of the dress which is open with a tabard coming from her waist to cover her front. (think lab coat looking tails with a tabard in the front) Her legs end in points with Light having no feet, and her fingers are razor sharp.

Age: '24'

Race: Void Daemon

Gender: Female

Personality: Light enjoys fun and freedom more than anything else, and does what she wants to do. She views things as a game, and has a poor grasp of the severity of situations because of this. While this might make her come off as an airhaed, Light is quite intelligent and uses that perceived notion to her advantage.

Bio: A being from the Void, Light made her way to Earth through a combination of a rogue cult and her interest in the physical plane. Due to her appearance, she could pass herself off as a Majin very easily and started to enjoy the experiences of the physical realm for herself. Of course the fact that she was from the Void causes lots of problems with the physical realm, most notably in the fact she has to constantly be on the move from city to city as if she stays in one place too long, imprints of her body can be found where she was sleeping which irritates quite a few humans.

Aura Color: Void/space black/purple

Preferred Fighting Style: Melee. Light is incapable of using Ki blasts.

Signature Combat Techniques:

-Melee-
Void Shield: Light creates a shield of Void energy around herself, absorbing all energy that hits it. While using this shield Light can't move. Energy absorbed by this shield is used to either replenish Light's own energy or used as a short range explosion.

Void Siphon: Physical contact with Light causes whatever she is touching to slowly lose energy. Energy lost due to damage Light has inflicted is siphoned to her to use. Given long enough contact, this will cause something to eventually fade from existence. Creatures with a tie to the void are immune to this technique.

Reality Step: Light can conjure a void portal to take her between two points in space. The first location is always next to her, the other can be any location that she can sense energy, see, or remember. Others can not interact with the portals, besides overloading them with energy and causing an explosion.

Fusion Punch: Light channels energy into her fist, unleashing a massive surge of Void energy to the next thing she punches. This punch has a slow wind up, but is devastating if it hits.

Shatter Reality: Light's ultimate ability. She shatters reality in an area around her, causing a tear in space that cuts off whoever is caught in it from using magic, and all energy based moves that are not Void based are greatly weakened. Staying in this area for those who are not bound to the Void will slowly drain their vitality. Energy can not be sensed inside this area, and observers will only see darkness. Attempting to leave the arena or enter it causes whoever is entering or leaving to drastically slow down as their essence reconfigures to the presence of reality or lack of.

-Other-

Adaptive Regenerative Essence: Light can regenerate from nearly any injury, even supernatural ones such as being turned into candy. Afterwords Light gains a huge amount of resistance to the last thing that hurt her for a few hours, adapting body appendages or skin textures or whatever she needs to in order to adapt to resisting whatever she was hit with. Light can not adapt to an injury caused by Silver, and injuries caused by Iron have a reduced adaptive resistance, however she can still regenerate from both types of injuries. Obviously regeneration takes a good amount of energy, especially if it was inflicted using Silver or Iron. If Light dies, her essence drifts back into the void to reform instead of going to Otherworld.
