682 is quite powerful, although it really depends on what other powers and abilities your planned character will have.

Same with portals.

Excellent, you understand Portals are extremely powerful. Most people see that and don't think much of it xD.

I'm trying to decide if I want the regen powerset to be Cartoon based or Realistic based. Both sets have the same powers give or take a couple and different weaknesses. Which one would you prefer? I'd personally prefer the Cartoon one, but i'm fine with either.
What powerset would you prefer? SCP 682 Regen or Portals?
So, any limits to character powersets?
Well lets be honest. Should we even deal with transformations? Because they're pointless in the grand scheme of things. Example. Piccolo died to Nappa in one hit. He meditates on King Kai's planet for a month, and suddenly he can fight Freeza's second form and somewhat his third form? Yeah even if he did fuse with Nail, Nail was about Ginyu's level of power, or 20% of Freeza, so Piccolo would've had to have gained about an 800x powerlevel increase just meditating for a month.

See where I'm going with this? They're just pointless in the long end of things, a relic of the past, if you will. They arne't Super Sonic where the rules of the character drastically change, they're just power boosts in a story where power is dictated more by plot convenience than numbers.

And yeah, shes more Marvel/DC era stuff, because those have more character development than DBZ, which is where I'm more interested in playing around with. There is a huge reason why FF14 sucks and Undertale is amazing for example.

I'll clarify a bit more that shes running off game logic. Because in game logic, Ki isn't Life, its Ki. Maybe if they're out of ki she'll start taking from their life gauge instead, but that should describe things better I guess. And the void link thing will also mean that she loses power if they de-transform, if that makes sense.

Now another weakness I'd like to do is she can't break free of being 'tied up' very easily. Not sure how to word that though.
Well BC, let me explain how I want it to work, it comes out to be pretty balanced IMO.

Lets say Light has a power of 100 and the enemy has a power of 100. These stats can be split anywhere they want, but their skill TOTALS are the same. When the enemy 'transforms' or powers up, if their TOTAL stats go up, Light will 'match' this with the ability I'm calling "Void Link" or something, but wont match it perfectly, and will still be about 2% under the opponent. So if the opponent went to 1000, as long as Light is in combat with them, her power goes up to 980. The enemy still has a stat total of 20 points over her. It doesn't fully nullify the transformation, but it doesn't make it very good either unless it reallocates stat distribution like it should.

And its only on transformation abilities, stuff like charging for a big attack Light doesn't spike up to match since its a very temporary power spike, and lets face it, that wouldn't be fair. Same for temporary buffs like say, Arcane Power or something.

Meanwhile if Light was say, 80 to a baddies 100 and the baddie goes to 1000 from a transformation, Light goes to 780, keeping the 20% difference, plus her 2% penalty for scaling up. Still the same difference scalar wise.

Because lets face it, Super Sayan transformations mean nothing but to show how far a character has come in story development in a flashy way and DBZ abriged makes a good point that powerlevels are sorta pointless, and even Toryiama says the same thing. Its all about character and story development really. I mean, you don't see Edward from FMA going Super Sayan or anything, but he goes from a scrappy wimp to being able to kill neigh immortal beings just due to story progression and character development. So they aren't really needed. And your worry is that she'll make 'bosses' not very good or painful, but its only when they transform and shes still at the same gap she was before.

Of course unlike the enemy, Light CAN'T reallocate her skill points, so her speed/strength/ext is always the same percentages, while the enemy can possibly swap around theirs no problem, so instead of 30str 30spd maybe they have 40spd 20str or something.

And she'll learn it down the road, not right away, so it'll be a few bosses in before this happens anyway. :P

Meanwhile I just finished Undertale, and its a good game. Don't mind the graphics being SNES era and you'll have a good time. Plus Muffet is adorable.
@Archmage MC To be fair, the DBZ anime did have a huge amount of "power-up scream" filler, which wasn't particularly prevalent in the manga, and I assume that more powerful and skillful fighters experience time more slowly than weaker beings as well, at least to some extent. Still, a second or two is more than enough to dodge if she's paying attention... and, well, most DBZ transformations involve a power-up in some form or another. Just a thought I had, is all.

Its a fine one, though I'm basing her Void Shield off Super 17's Absorb ability from BT3, so she has a couple seconds of 'lag' when disengaging it, making dodging not so easy. I think I mentioned that in my character sheet, right?

And the transforms do, but they also change attribute distribution if its not SSJ. Buu goes from tank to bruiser to scrapper, Cell goes from hit and run to bruiser to Speedster, Freeza goes from balanced to bruiser to speedster to (sadly) Balanced+ to Bruiser+ and Gold is just Balanced++

Light's ability will just remove the "+s" next to transformations more or less.

At least she doesn't have Super 17's Hell Bomber attack. That thing was so broken...
-snip-

I just wanna make transformations that are power boosts only useless, esp when fighting Light, as they're very boring and just bad in general. Now transformations that give more powers or totally change a combat style, THOSE are interesting. There is a reason why SSJ sucks while say... Luffy's Third Gear is interesting, since the latter changes his combat style and stat distribution entirely while SSJ is just +5 to all stats. (And combat changes instead of a blanket power boosts are also much harder to fight against.)

Heck, DB Xenoverse's SSJ is more interesting than any other iteration because it at least changes the combat style with inf Ki. Course thats not saying much, but out of all the SSJ stuff, its prob the best unless I'm missing something.

As for the character, shes running off Game logic, not Anime logic. So a 'powerful attack' charge time is like a second or two, instead of a minute for example. Plus anyone with a portal gun could destroy pretty much everything running on Anime Logic so...
Light'll not have transformations, but rather an abilty that lets her scale to whatever power level an enemy transforms to, making them sort of pointless when used against her unless the transformation isn't a power increase like SS, but is instead a an actual transformation like Freeza's stuff, IE, changing stat distribution.

Also sorry for the late post. Moving without internet does that.
While the other members of the team were making plans to head to Onyxtite City, Light was just waking up from a nap. Wiping the sleepiness from her large eyes, the Void Demon made her way to the ramp of the ship, yawning when she reached it. She was a bit late and only caught a glimpse of the rest of the team moving towards Onyxtite city. "Hey, I'm not as fast as you guys! Wait up!" She said as she followed the silhouettes of her team mates, yawning as she flew.
i'm back. internet dropped for a couple days. can't type up a post til tomorrow though.
