Alright, it isn't an easy topic to talk about. I talked to a few other friends and they gave me some pretty decent lists and helped me calm down over that. Though most of those characters don't have Tracer's noteriaty, I can channel that bit of triggeredness into how Blizzard is making OW a PC simulator now. But thats probably why 2017 is projected to be a bad year for OW.
I DO need a gay male list though. THAT bit I can only think of Dumbledore and thats it. And thats more worrying.

Unrelated note, anyone heard anything about Japan's giant robot project?

I could keep going, but you get the point. There's no shortage of strong straight female leads. I can't list gay males, but thats because all the ones that come to mind are in open world RPG games were being gay straight, both, or neither is a choice the player can decide, so thats a bit of a grey area.

A LOT of people want Elsa to be a gay icon since shes easily the biggest female icon atm. Shame Ana isn't seen on nearly as much merchandise.

I guess, but females in superhero genres aren't in a good place at all and need lots of help. Starfire/Raven from the 2000s Teen Titans were the best I've seen ladies in that genre in the mainstream.

So ~+3 is a little reassuring, but you gotta admit it is a very worrying trend when MALE gay characters aren't made nearly as well, as often, or given as much spotlight as the female ones. Wanna give me more names on both ends? If you don't wanna clog up the topic here you can just PM me them.

Just trying to not be super triggered and need some recent examples to counteract my point >.<.

@Archmage MC Tracer and Korra are the only two that come to mind for me. Compare it to the number of straight protagonists in popular media, and you'll find there's still a HUGE discrepancy. I'm pretty happy that companies are finally stepping up to the plate and making gay protagonists/poster characters. Granted, not ALL of them should be, but more is definitely better.

The problem is this.

List Strong STRAIGHT females that are well known.

Now list Strong GAY males that are well known.

Trust me those lists are very very small in comparison and my rambling above has me thinking this is a means of population control and not LGBT rights.

Or just writers unsure on what kind of man a strong female would like, so they pair them up with another female.

I just wanna be put at ease that things are balanced and not being too lopsided one way or the other >.<

So apparently Tracer is gay? I really worry about this trend. Every time there is a good strong female rolemodel, they're gay. Its pretty bad for the future due to the lack of strong straight female models, since that means less reproduction. Unless its some kind of population control thing, that actually makes a lot of sense actually... Especially with the relative lack of Male LBGT models.

And I can't think of any strong fictional female straight icons right now. I'd like to know if there are any. Samus kinda died off after Other M ruined her so hard.

Its not that awesome yet. Its neat sure, but when they can make tech that doesn't use propellers and instead uses EM drives, then I'm impressed.

A neat thing I found out they made is healing gel. Seals up wounds and lets htem heal in like an hour to a few days depending on how bad it was. an hour for a stab wound, a few days for a claymore. Thats nuts.

It might be a bit annoying, but they do it because they just want you to feel better. I like family.

Also for those robot things, I'm more interested in AI as once thats perfected, robots will just upgrade themselves at a much faster rate than we possibly can and that'll be interesting. I'm expecting the robot apocalypse to be Futurama in about 20-30 years, with the occasional oil baron getting bumped off due to being mean to robot kind.

Ai are neat though. One managed to figure out a complex physics experiment in about 4 hours when given the tools to do said experiment and what the end result should be. And with that, in about 15 years we might have a 5th state of matter accessable to the public.
