Shanon

Name: “Shanon”

Age: Approx 5 years

Gender: Female

Appearance: on hind legs Shanon stands around 7 foot, though spends most of her time on all six. Fur is a deep marron but the mane running down the length of her spine is green.

World of Origin: Original Setting.

Personality: Very protective of those she calls ‘friend’ Shanon will selflessly place herself in harm’s way without a second thought. Shanon tries to be kind and wants to learn and experience as much of the world that she can before she ends, as such given half the chance Shanon will relentlessly hound a person with questions about anything and everything. Of course such a strong sense of curiosity has landed her in a number of situations and a few close calls, but it has yet to discourage her from exploring and testing the limits of her abilities.

However, Shanon holds a very ‘black and white’ view of the world and those around her; if she considers someone to be a threat to her or another’s well-being she will express, and possibly follow through with, her desire to end them. Normally in such cases she will try to quickly end her opponent by sneaking up on them when their guard is down, but if the option is unavailable she has nothing against ripping them apart. On the other hand though if Shanon is faced with a challenge she cant see herself succeeding at she will give up and simply try to stay alive.

History: As with every monster Shanon wasn’t born, but simply began one fog drenched night down an alley way where horrible things had happened. A number of hours were spent roaming through the streets figuring out how her body worked; how her joints moved, how her spine could twist, how her senses picked out her prey walking alone at night. As a Monster she was made of the malicious and cruel thoughts of Humans, however that didn't mean that she herself was entirely cruel.

Then They appeared; The Containment and Examination of Monsters company (C.E.M). Shanon was no match for the Agents who possessed equipment specifically designed to deal with Monsters and she was quickly captured. Her world then became one of a small white room and of scalpels and needles as the Agents sought to figure out how she worked.

One day something went wrong; another monster was able to escape its cell and the C.E.M facility fell into chaos. Shanon, along with many other Monsters fled from the facility, making sure to remove a number of Agents from the world on the way out. She, like many others, fled very far from the facility and didn’t dare to stop running until the sun had appeared and disappeared again over the horizon where found herself in a forest the few Humans came across.

Here Shanon met another Monster who had taken the name Darcy, and had prompted Shanon to take a name herself. Here the pair lived together in relative peace only occasionally disturbed by wondering Humans or the rare Agent seeking them out.

Abilities: Shanons ability to track a scent is unmatched not just by smelling ability but by being able to taste the scent of prey on the air as well. Shanon possess extra-ordinary strength with her limit being around the same weight as a tank. Her venom causes a victim muscles to seize up within half an hour of entering the blood stream. Without any blood or a heart poisons that rely on blood vessels to move about the body are ineffective, airborne poisons however will still affect her.

Other: Oddly enough Shanon doesn’t actually bleed, nor does she need to eat, so all one needs to do to ‘heal’ her is simply stitch up the wound with some thread.

I think I understand all the logistics and stuff a bit better now which I may not have done at first.

• Name: Martha Rodes

• Age: 26

• Gender: Female

• Appearance: A very average young woman with red hair reaching down just past her shoulder blades, but normally tied up into a pony tail to keep it out of her eyes. Eyes are a beautiful brown while her skin is lightly tanned though her face is somewhat spotty. Typical clothing takes the form of sturdy blue jeans, good brown boots, brown leather gloves and a red t-shirt. She also wears a pair of goggles that when aren’t protecting her eyes sit atop her head. She also has a little fire flower pendant around her neck.

• World of Origin: Earth…sorta. Marthas Earth is one connected directly to the Mushroom Kingdom, home to the ever famous Mario Bros which is also connected to other universes home to memorable characters.

• Powers:
o Generally, much more durable and powerful than your average human due to the unique radiation from the Mushroom Kingdom saturating Earth, allowing Martha to do things like hold her breath easily for almost an hour or even survive in space without a suit! But of course these things have limits and even though she could take a cannon ball to the face from a distance with little more than a lot of bruising, and maybe a few less teeth, a gun to the head will kill her.
o Power Up: Martha is able to easily absorb extra power and use it for a short while. This normally includes things like Fire Flowers, Giga Mushrooms and the like but it can easily extend to other such items that she may not have encountered before (in theory anyway).
o The little bag: A small string tied back-pack that goes everywhere with Martha simply because it’s such a brilliant bag. Enchanted to be much bigger on the inside the opening can be stretched wide enough to admit even her kart which makes carrying things a breeze. Although the gulping a slurping downs it makes when anything goes it is a bit disconcerting not mention how it’s weight never really changes.

• Personality: Brash and Bold Martha won’t let anyone stand in her way if there’s something she’s after, although when things start to go downhill she will also be the first one to admit it. As you can probably tell forethought isn’t one of her strongest assets but on the other hand she does also learn from her mistakes most of the time. But of course what’s probably her most defining feature is her curiosity and sense of adventure, where many of us will avoid for sense of fear Martha will probably already be heading down that dark alley to see what lurks within, lets just hope for her sake it’s not something dangerous.

• Backstory: Surprisingly Martha isn’t the biggest fan of video games, probably because the world she lives in pretty much is connected to one with the first stable connection between Earth and the Mushroom Kingdom being made in 1992, a few years after she was born. The majority of her younger years had the backdrop of various probes into the connections between the two worlds followed by mass scares about radiation spikes in big cities and certain video game designers being held almost at gun point. Video Games themselves even came under deep philosophical questioning when even more worlds were found to be connected to the Mushroom Kingdom, but this soon passed with some awkward confusion and uncertainty.

Martha was always an adventurous type though and one who often found herself climbing a bit higher up a tree than she could climb down (and then clinging to the poor soul who went up to fetch her). So it was no surprise that these connections between worlds held her interest so tightly even when many others feverously told her to stop.

Years passed and Martha found life within the City of London to be stifling with no way out. At least until very recently when in 2004 when it was revealed that there would be a separate set of Olympics to be held in 2008 featuring none other than the famous Mario, Sonic and various other characters from their respective worlds. Much to her disappointment Martha wasn’t able to get tickets but still remained glued to the television every moment she could spare not only to watch the games themselves, but also to hear the fantastic news of free travel between worlds being finally allowed. Furthermore, whilst the radiation now fully wrapped around Earth people were now starting to develop abilities as Humanity as a whole was launched forward in evolution.

Fairly soon Martha had managed to grab a semi-permanent residence on Wuhu Island, which had formed smack in the middle of the Bermuda Triangle and also another direct connection to the Mushroom Kingdom via Warp Pipe. From their Martha spent her days almost blissful exploring the kingdom and helping to document its borders, earning a living as a tourist guide for visitors to the world who had only seen it in the games no longer in production. A number of times Martha had also entered the Mario Kart Grand Prix and even the Spectators Smash Tournament but never quite qualified for either.

• Other:
o She uses a MK8 (the very latest version) kart to get around the place. The Standard ATV frame coupled with the standard tyres allow for not only speedy travel but also an easy way to explore thanks to its ability to go underwater (water breathing spell for those in contact with the vehicle included), gliding and even anti-gravity (surface must be flat-ish) capabilities.
o Standard Gunner outfit: it wouldn’t do to go travelling without some protection, or at least some means of defence. Which is where this happy little energy based weaponry comes into play, although Martha isn’t the best at using it.

Charles pursed his lips, somewhat annoyed that “”it was magic”” was the only explanation they had to go one for the non-existent language barriers. He much preferred to have a detailed explanation for something.

“Guess it’s pretty much unanimous then.” He spoke. “So, we’re all heading back to lovely, cold Russia for another holiday. Or at least I presume so?” Here he turned to face Zesiro for confirmation. “I mean, as long as there’s nothing else that we really need to consider. Other than the obvious things like equipment and supplies and the like.”

Concerns about the dragon had already been addressed so he felt no need to repeat it. He then clapped, and rubbed his hands together.

“But, either way no doubt the arrangements will take some time. So the question is; what should we do in the mean time?” Charles rolled his eyes and pondered. “Maybe afternoon tea? Never a bad time for tea. And I suppose quite a few of you want to stretch your legs a bit. Being cooped up in here, after a while anyone would start to go slightly batty.”

Charles Balderdash

“nah, I’m sure we’ll be fine.” He brushed off Vata’s concern. “Although I suppose I could ask one or two people I know, hopefully they’re not too busy or anything.” Or if Charles were even allowed to bring on any more people on this case.

“To be honest I’m not the best with other languages, well I’m not the best with written other languages. Spoken I’m absolutely fantastic with which I suppose could be a blessing or a curse depending on where you’re standing. I have been known to go on a bit at times.” Charles gave a light hearted chuckled. “But, I am proud to say that it’s never endangered a mission.” He lied.

With the conversation towards what their next actions should Charles held his chin in thought. Personally he felt that they hadn’t gathered nearly enough intelligence or images of the area surrounding ‘ground zero’. But considering the threat that was still there Charles resigned himself to the fact that what they had is all the could use for now, simply couldn’t be helped until the site was deemed safe enough.

“That’s actually an interesting question.” Charles frowned and looked at the others. “Maybe it’s just a simple case of the same language in different places? But under different names or something along those lines?” He paused and spun to face the other direction for a moment. “No, actually, scratch that. Too coincidental in my books, just think about it; several beings, all of varying different origins, up-bringing’s and the like all happen to speak not just the same language but the one of where they end up?”

Charles tilted his head from side to side, letting the thoughts mull and slosh in his head for a moment.

“No. Frankly the chances of it happening by coincidence are zero to none.”
