It could be seen as meta-gaming, but to be fair, our characters would probably have an idea of what they were capable of in some cases. There are a lot of details that you really just don't get when you're RP'ing.

Laura's semblance allows her to make semi-solid constructs with her aura. She could form several aura arms along her back/shoulder areas and manipulate them to punch.

I'm pretty sure your aura would protect you. Cinder's blocked .50 cal sniper bullets with her bare hand at point blank range without flinching. True, she's an op villain but it's been done.
