In those cases, you would be forced to reverse engineer the code, or otherwise make educated guesses.

Very comparable then. Only there’s also the fact that people countless millions and billions of years ago also had a lot of things figured out and then poofed.

It pertains to endpoints that can be programmatically accessed, but are relatively unknown and may not be fully implemented.

Sure, sounds comparable then. I think you definitely understand.

Undocumented API calls. I understand completely.

Sure, whatever helps you understand. Not that I know if that’s a valid comparison… But you’re smart so I trust that it is.

Your point being that manipulation in the form of your elements is not similar to natural elements or other forms of manipulation?

It's not. It's like, imagine that Existence was someone's project, right? Like programming something. The elements- the ones we call Hidden anyway, would be a part of that project that ended up cut, but their existence can still be found in the records. They have functionality if you know how to access them, but due to their unfinished nature, a lot of what makes them tick isn't immediately obvious, and very much not accessible... That make sense?

The natural elements certainly aren’t rare by any means. And several disciplines channel those forces.

There needs to be a catalyst of sorts too, but that's very rare, not identifiable to the naked eye and very often, unintuitive. The whole idea is very rare, nature wasn't meant to exist in the form of the elements at all, so it is exceedingly uncommon. I just mentioned it as a possibility, but we'll almost definitely find a person.

What phenomena would induce a concerning level of activity?

We tend to be concerned if there's activity at all. But it can, and usually is, dangerous and needs to be managed before someone incapable of manipulating them gets themselves or others hurt. And that can happen at the smallest level... That said, a number of things could. A highly concentrated presence of an aspect of nature in a place where it isn't natural or forced can spawn elemental energy that then continues to grow as a self perpetuating feedback effect, for example.

A rogue elements user?

Or a natural phenomenon. Those do happen.
<Snipped quote by Audacious>

While we wait, do you have information on this mission?

We’re looking for someone or something spiking activity of the elements in a certain area. With a good chance it’s who we’re looking for, but not guaranteed.

*Glances between them*
Where did you have in mind, then?

I don’t know where it is yet. But this guy does. Should be here any minute.
<Snipped quote by Audacious>

Which is?

We’re gonna meet up with a friend and check out a location.
*Glances around at the maps*
Buuut, not any of these.
