Liors hadn't noticed at first. She'd been unpacking, and it wasn't until she'd finished that she had, but maybe having sparks fly right into your face helped. She screamed this time, jumping back, though she clasped her hands over her mouth as soon as the noise came out. That was when she saw the entire room sparking, and she sighed. That wasn't supposed to happen, but apparently it was, so she begrudgingly waved her hand and watched as the markings on the walls disappeared. Everything that could go wrong was currently going wrong.
Liors lay on the floor, on top of her messily drawn ritual circle. At least this one was doing what it was supposed to - was it because it had an actual purpose? It was too much to think about at this time on the first day of school. Breakfast University of Magic, home of-
Ah. She hadn't eaten breakfast. That would be a good idea, but she didn't make any effort to move from where she was lying. If anything, she realized how comfortable it was. As well as how tired she was, it was much too early to even think about being awake. She'd get up soon, and go eat, but for now she was content to just stay there. She'd get up.
@QueenNugget@Ryteb Pymeroce Liors never should've tried to talk to anyone. Actually, the best decision she could've ever made was to not join the university, but it was a little late for that. She'd made a friend, but now she was sharing a dorm with Rhea and Zane. Rhea was nice enough, if a little overbearing, though that wasn't anything Liors wasn't used to with her own sister, and she could live. Zane, however, was about as close as anyone alive could get to the complete opposite of herself, not to mention his destructive personality. She absently wondered if the university had insurance on its grounds as Rhea directed the two of them towards the dorms. It might've just been her imagination, but her grip on Zane seemed a little rougher than that on Liors.
Once they arrived, Liors immediately darted off into one of the rooms. The furthest from the entrance, no one else would want that one. Door not completely closed behind her, she set down her bags. One for clothes, one that housed her lyre and a few knick-knacks, and the final one containing pretty much everything else. She frantically dug through the first until her hands touched cold metal, and she pulled out what was pretty much a biscuit tin. She tucked it neatly under her bed, breathing out a sigh of relief. She needed to unpack in due course, but for the time being she put her bags on top of the bed, and pulled out a pack of chalk, some rocks and some candles.
She shut the door completely, so no one could see in, and set to work 'decorating' her room. The strange symbols in pen that would fade in two hours, the circles in chalk that would disappear in time, they didn't do anything to anyone. But as Liors drew, she got the feeling, despite everything that had happened and would happen,
@QueenNugget@Ryteb Pymeroce To Liors's credit, she didn't scream. Instead, she lurched forward with a short yelp, whipping her head round to face the intruder. The day was progressively getting worse, and there was still so much of it left, so when she saw Zane hanging from the tree, she let out a sigh internally. "M-maybe another day, I don't. Um. Never mind," she said. Was he serious or was he joking? At this point, what was the difference, he could've been implying either.
I think, um, I should go to my dorm," Liiors squeaked, but it sounded more like a question then anything. Honestly, she was just desperate to get away from the entrance, where all the problems seemed to be. At least there would be less people in the dorms, and it would (hopefully) be quieter.
She dissolved her seat and motioned at Rhea. "Uh. If you want to, um, come too, to the dorms, I guess I'd like that? I'm," and she glanced at her wrist, "25-A?" She picked up her bags, quickly rustling through for the important things. Everything seemed to still be there, but she hadn't checked thoroughly. Could Deirdre send her anything she'd left in parcels? What if she'd dropped something - it would be impossible to find, and Liors was doing it again. You haven't forgotten anything. You checked three times last night. You haven't forgotten, but that didn't stop the nagging thoughts.
Realizing she'd just been staring at her bags for a good thirty seconds, she picked them up, ready to leave. 25-A, 25-A.
@QueenNugget@Spike Internally, Liors was screaming. Very loud, very panicked, ready to run for her life.
Externally, she did nothing for a good minute. She didn't even reply, and she sat there, gaping, until she uttered her reply.
"Ah," and after another despairingly long pause, "T-thank you! Of course, um, you're pretty too! And, um, he is too! That's, that's a... it's a thing."
Words. Yes, those were a thing that existed, and they were not doing what they were supposed to. Liors brought her hands up to her chest protectively, fiddling with the ring on her left hand. Breathe in, breathe out. It really didn't help, but at least she could say that she tried.
"My name is, it's Liors. Myrisal, um, Liors Myrisal. I'm not new, I'm, actually a second year..." she said, trailing off. This talking thing was difficult. "You probably haven't, uh, seen me or anything. But, I play music in the gardens. Um, sometimes. Might have heard it?"
It was now possible to get second-hand embarrassment from yourself, as discovered by Liors as she cringed mentally. She'd probably already messed something up, but at least the school had a lot of other students. She could just avoid the two of them until the end of time if everything went south, she was doing that anyway.
"Oh god. Um, names, what are your names?" she hastily added. That was something she was supposed to ask. She already knew them, it would be kind of weird to say so. At least she'd gotten something right.
That was the last thing Liors had heard before she appeared in the university. She stumbled forwards, still not quite used to the strange sensation, clutching her bags tightly to her chest. Did her sister put anything more in them? They felt really heavy, or maybe that was just the nerves setting in. As she moved off the glyph, she glanced around at the other students who had arrived. Some she recognized, others she didn't. She recited her room number in her head, glancing occasionally at the neat cursive on her hand where it was written. The ink from her spirit pen would fade in about two hours. From now until the end of the opening ceremony. It should last.
Everything was going well, up until a girl with white hair - Freya - approached a boy who'd joined the same year as Liors, Zane if she'd remembered correctly. What a pain, and then she laughed from the rhyme and then she didn't laugh because that looked like a disaster waiting to happen. She made a silent prayer to whatever high power there was, don't put me in a room with either of them, please. Calm, peaceful people. That sounded a lot nicer.
She wasn't here to cause trouble. She wasn't really here to talk to anyone in the first place, if she was honest. Though, as she traced silver letters on silk, 'make some friends' played vividly in her mind. She had to now, didn't she? Would she even be able to? Everyone here was a little intense, but most of them weren't too bad. Yeah, she could manage. Despite the fact that a fight was painfully close to starting right in front of her, Liors was having an ok day.
She pulled out a beanbag from the air, which she promptly sat on. Everything would be fine! All she needed to do was the same thing she the previous year, maybe with more talking to people. She could do that, right? But for the time being, it was just her, the beanbag, and a breakfast she couldn't wait for.
Liors is shy and very soft spoken, and is a bit of a pushover. She'd much rather follow along with someone else's idea even if she didn't like it rather than offer her own. She is much more of a listener than a talker, and is content to sit and nod. When she does speak, she is often optimistic and prefers live on the bright side of life. However, she also tends to block out and ignore things she doesn't like. She is very forgetful and gets paranoid about not having things, even if she is sure she has them.
She lives by 'better safe then sorry', and stays firmly in her comfort zone. At the same time, she is a people pleaser down to the bone, and would do a dangerously broad range of things just to make someone happy, or so that they won't be disappointed in her. Liors finds it difficult to live with people disliking her, and would rather do what she can to regain their favour over not being bothered. She can be obsessive over other people's views of her, causing her unwillingness to share ideas or do anything other than do what people want.
Liors has a heavy attachment to material objects, and can become emotionally attached to just about anything she spends enough time with. Because of this, she is a pretty big hoarder, and can't bear to throw things out, even if she hasn't touched it in five years due to 'sentimental value'. She also gets attached to people, but this happens much less often, as she's not very good at becoming close enough to a person to develop this attachment.
She likes to play music, and plays both the piano and the lyre, but often the latter as she can't carry around a piano. She also enjoys singing, but as with playing, she doesn't do it much in places that aren't absolutely private. Having said that, she is good at both. Liors also enjoys baking, even if her cookies often come out black and charred.
Creation -summoning 'spirit' objects -when her objects sustain a certain amount of damage, or exist for a certain period of time (2hrs) -Liors can simply force them to disappear if she wants -Liors can only summon a certain amount of things, for example she could have a limit of 100 pencils or so -the bigger the object the less she can summon at once, so her 100 pencils may only be 2 blankets -when one of her spirit objects disappear, it frees up space so to speak, and she can create something else to fill it -her objects can be handled and used by herself and others -the objects appear tinted indigo and translucent -total volume of her summoned objects is about 2m^3, can be increased with training -she is completely unable to go past her limit, if she continuously tries to, it can have severe repercussions on her body -gradually gets more fatigued the more she creates objects (cannot keep destroying and creating objects over and over)
-ID -ornate wedding ring, silver with a blue-purple alexandrite gem. on the inside it says 'M Myrisal'. -her lyre. the wood looks a little scorched, but the aesthetic of it is quite nice. -talismans on jewellery, mainly necklaces with little symbols on them. they don't seem to do anything, but they're pretty and comforting to wear. -everything (cheap) you'd need to summon a spirit. she can't actually use them, but that doesn't mean she can't set it up for the sake of it. -a silk scarf. it's pale silver and translucent with yellow flowers embroidered on it. the corner of it says 'Deirdre', embroidered with silver thread.
Liors grew up in a small town with her two sisters and her parents, who owned a small family bed and breakfast. Her younger sister was a magical prodigy and studied magic from a young age. Liors and her elder sister worked, and she picked up some hobbies, such as music, which she played for the patrons, and sewing, which she used to make clothes for her family. Also, her love of baking, but she never did get the hang of it.
One day, while her younger sister was visiting, a fire broke out, which killed both her parents. In an incident that she believes to be her own fault, her young sister was killed as well. Had she listened to her siblings and stayed outside in the safety, they would both be alive, which was the beginning of Liors’s unwillingness to follow what she believes is best. What she was able to recover from the fire sparked the beginning of her hoarding habit.
Her and her elder sister moved into the city, and struggled. Liors began mundane school, but her sunny disposition and meek personality were not suited for it the same way that she survived in a much smaller community. She did as she was told, whether it was her classmates or her sister, who was too busy rushing around and working to notice the fruits of the fire rotting in Liors’s hands. Life continued, and that was just how it was for some time.
She trained magic on her own, but between her and her sister, whose magic was not very strong, she couldn’t make much progress. She had lots of practice, as her spirits were of much use in daily life, but it still wasn’t enough.
After a particularly bad incident, which she had used magic for (it would’ve been difficult otherwise, and besides it’s not like anyone would know she used it) where she had collaborated with some others who had promptly thrown her under the bus, this changed. Mr Krisa, a teacher who was strict and cranky in absurd amounts, revealed he was a master, and volunteered to tutor Liors if she stayed out of trouble. He was far too old to be teaching anything outside of formulas and numbers, but he did the best he could.
She didn’t become any less of a doormat, as Krisna klindly put it, but she stopped using magic for the sake of others. They were ordinary, and if she couldn’t make them happy ordinarily, then she would never be able to or her training would be discontinued. Even if she wanted to please everyone, Krisa was top priority, second to only Liors’s elder sister. Eventually, after much protesting, Liors sent in her application and was admitted to the Breakfast University of Magic. She couldn’t bear to be away from her sister, who could be gone as easily as the other, and whom she had become increasingly dependent on.
The first year passed uneventfully. She made herself scarce, hid in the gardens or wherever she could find that was empty, and there she sang to the tunes of the lyre, practicing her magic. Day in, day out, she learned a decent amount of other student’s names but she doubted they’d ever noticed her. Except, this time, she’s going with new purpose. It’s not like she could say no to her sister.

If Liors was forced to sacrifice something important in order to move forward, it would be: Her dearest possessions, perhaps either her lyre or her mother's wedding ring, or both.
If Liors was offered to have a single wish fulfilled, it would be: She'd like to go back to the life she had with her family, incident-free. While she does enjoy living in the city and practicing magic, she'd leave it in a heartbeat if she got the chance, if she could turn back the clock.
