| Geo hadn't really thought about it for a while, but they probably used 'van' or some variation of it dozens of times over the years. He vaguely remembered it was based off one of those fantasy game protagonist from a pretty well known series. He just couldn't place exactly what or who it was at this moment. He'd probably have the thought running through the back of his head for the rest of the trip. Puzzling himself quietly over it, as the memory was somewhere but just out of reach of his current thoughts. It was like the thoughts were vaguely on the cusp of his recollection but dodging him for the time being. "Mmm, you're fine to give a whack or two. It's early mobs so shouldn't too much of a hassle. Just meant we shouldn't get both of our backs to a wall or somethin'." He shrugged. "Don't think the mobs will spawn that fast were it might be an issue though. At least... I'm hoping for it anyways. If we even do need to run away and such." "Baskets on their heads? Goodness not sure if that's going to be cool and funny to see! Always wondered how people are supposed to see out of those things. Are there like... small holes, or is the weaving really that thin, do you think?" He'd just casually chat along the way. "Though anything with a club, except maybe a basic gobbo is probably a tougher lad. So definitely can see it. Especially if they have those massive metal ball ones, like a giant studded bat and all." "Mana, magic points, same dif. No big deal to throw out there. But what's that damaging spell you got? What's it do? Oooo, is it like... summoning a beam of light to shoot at the enemy or something? Or maybe it's something more elemental rather than divine/holy that a cleric would normally use. It's definitely got to have some range on it since you're more of a full caster, right?" Geo grinned noticing a shift in Doc. "You first~." He'd give a pause or so for the Doc to go on about their own abilities. Once Doc was done, or when it seemed like there was a minute or so that passed then Geo would hop in. "Yeah, makes sense that a lot would go for the tried & true sword and shield, or great sword. Uh, guess since I'm only starting out I don't have more than a starter skill yet. Although, from what I've seen there's a bit of variety you can invest in depending on weapons and so on. Picked a spear, since.. well, I've used a stick in real life for stuff, lol. The system is supposed to help, but haven't touched a sword before so didn't think I'd do so good with one." "Picked something to help with leveling a bit, you kinda already saw it too! But guess you'll get another view." He shrugged, with a smug growing grin. "But one day, these golden wings will fly across the sky in amazement! Heh, take that for a backstory motivation." Puffing his chest out with slight growing confidence. Once they came across some of the beggar bandits Geo would immediately move to show off. He'd point toward one of the beggar bandits and let out a whistle toward them. He picked the first one he saw to draw from the crowd, one wielding a club. Geo would use the A faint orange glow of aura would radiate off of Geo and his spear as he twirled it about in front of him performing a quick sequence of a figure-8 spin in front of him. Gesturing it as a form of challenge toward the beggar before resting the spear across the back of his shoulders and thrusting his palm forward as if he were a shaolin monk. The last bit was just showing off. "Base at the waterfall got it. Heh, lets have some fun before then, grab ya some extra coin for later~." Geo's eyes were locked on the various enemies versus the river. Not wanting to get struck easily while trying to look cool in front of his party member. |

| "Hah, maybe. Geo sounded cool, and van. Well van is from like... old characters I used to use in games? I hardly remember why now. But, hey, makes it easier to make up characters and stuff!" He laughed. "Guess it could be a little neat in that way." Geo would wait until they played a bit with the Doctor to figure out the name meaning. He was curious, but wanted to have some fun first. It'd probably come up sooner or layer in conversation, or if they came across another friendly player here or there. Seeing Doc pump their fist the air, Geo of course would pump his fist up too! Excited to go out and fight! Given that this was the early game, and with a healer, it felt almost guaranteed to sweep a dungeon or two. Especially if they didn't rush in. Which, Geo hadn't planned too yet. He still needed to unlock a bit more skills beyond his first one for that. "Ah, it's one of those. Guess need to be ready for a retreat if it gets too hairy. Guess I've seen a couple games where the durability goes down on items and such. Although early game items are usually not worth the repair anyways, can buy 'em cheap.. but we'll need the kills first, ya know?" He nodded along. "Oh wait! Do you know what those hard hitting enemies looked like? Could probably take one or two, but rather be prepped up to go in for the head-jab!" "Pffft, that's a good point. Also seeing as you're level ten, you probably have at least 2 or 3 skills by no too! Or uh.. what does this game call magic spells? Uh... think it's Incantations. I know by stuff is called techniques probably to sound all cool and fight-y." "Fly?" Geo would jump up into the air and try flapping their arms a couple times.... To no result. He'd just land right back on his feet, but it was just slightly slower than someone else. "Guess that's a nope. Might have been something like that in the game intro lore stuff. Buuuuut......skipped it to try the gameplay. First VR-MMO for me, you know and that sounded too cool to post-pone." He added and fast-marched to the valley. Geo hadn't noticed but with every step, they were moving their spear up and down in a rhythmic steady manner. |
Party
Doc couldn't help but chuckle under their breath when Geo mentioned their username, and they waved at them dismissively about it.
"Yeah, it's a long story. You got a pretty unique one yourself"
Ultimately Doc was glad they weren't dwelling on the less than usual name. It was something that amongst friends made sense and would be worth it purely for the giggles. Amongst strangers it was practically agonizing to imagine having to explain it. Once he got a proper gauge of the level of this Geo he could see why. No doubt they were itching to get into the game, and mentioning a dungeon was a proverbial carrot dangled over this newbie.
Doc wasn't the most impressed by the skills the spearman had shown but mostly because Doc wasn't exactly aware of the finesse required to do so many of the spins and tricks. They hardly seemed to have the same energy the birdman had but their excitement was contagious enough for Doc to pump their fist in comradery. It wouldn't be too hard to keep a warrior alive, but they could only hope they weren't built to be a full tank or were just too uncoordinated to fight.
Geo mentioned the grinding that Doc had been doing, their face visibly lost any joy it had before, the loathing was etched into the frown the bore.
"You have no idea" they muttered in distain.
"Turns out you can lose stuff if you die. Lost my staff trying to solo this dungeon. Some of the enemies hit hard" they replied as they physically deflated thinking about it before shaking their head and slapping their cheeks to get back into the mood.
"But hey, if I could get as far as I did alone, imagine what I can do now that I'm a few levels higher and have an actual damage dealer" they added with a nervous chuckle.
Seeing that Geo was eager to head out, Doc did their best to keep pace as they made their way out of town to the same valley Doc had been grinding in for a while now.
"So... Can you fly? Being a bird and all"
