Interesting how people immediately assume that Skyblue has an established history of being an alcoholic and this isn't just a one-night go-out-and-get-smashed deal.

Which it was.

And please, consult me before you start reminiscing about all the years your character has known Skyblue. He's been there a year, maybe two. He's surprised he's lasted even THAT long as a teacher.

Come on, guys. You don't need to rewrite my character's backstory. His antics tend to be fresh and exiting, not the same thing over and over. And just to clarify, I'm not mad about this, just mildly amused at the variety of interpretations.

Lightly edited. I've downgraded Jonathan's reaction from "a raging alcoholic" to "(probably) a raging alcoholic".

Good catch.
@Azereiah

I was thinking in making Meilin and Daler known themselves, since Meilin has already graduated and Daler basically lives on the institute.

Giving that both like to meditate, maybe Meilin sometimes meets with him to meditate together and hear his wise words.
Meilin was raised in a temple, so she has a deep respect for the elders, especially Daler, who is someone who makes her remember of the old monks that taught her. Is it ok?

Just didn't wanted to post something like "Hey there, we know each other. That is not a question!"

I'm totally up for that, and it makes a lot of sense.
Alright, so we have a school nurse, an assistant nurse, and a dedicated surgeon concept free for the taking here. Three nurses/doctors should be enough to keep the school healthy and happy, given the size of the place and the number of students. :)

I'll leave the unfinished CS up for a day or two. If nobody wants to pick it up, I'll roll a full CS for it and keep the Surgeon neatly tucked away until needed.

Jonathan Walker

"I see the town drunk managed to crawl out of bed on time..."

Jonathan was less than impressed by Skyblue's conduct all throughout the previous year, and it didn't look like he was about to change this year either. The man brought shame to channelers everywhere. Still, it probably wasn't his fault he was (probably) a raging alcoholic, so Jonathan tried his best to forgive him. At least, until he vomited on Asa's shoes. That was just plain disgusting, and Jonathan's horror was obvious.

Asa was somehow able to keep her cool though. Major respect points for that. After she finished her speech, Jonathan watched the Institute appear from nowhere for the second time. It wasn't as impressive this time around, but he still didn't have the foggiest clue how the school managed it. Perhaps a cloaking device run by masses of hamsterwheels or something?

"I mostly just strongly identify with him. I'm not an Augmentor, so his classes just filled up the space between Khan's classes. Good riddance. Oh, and Professor Hisakawa, I think I'm interested in your art class. I'm not very good at it yet, and I needed an elective course to fill out my schedule, so I'd love to work with you. Shall we head in?"

Brock Van de Vate

Brock hated alcoholics and addicts. They were weak and stupid. And, to boot, he'd lost a number of friends to drugs and drunk driving over the years. Skyblue's appearance pissed him off, but he was trying to make a good impression on people, so he kept some measure of restraint. "...I am not going to be in that guy's class if I can help it."

Just then, the Institute shimmered into view. Magical invisible castle, huh? I mean, I guess I'm not surprised. Been a weird couple days..., Brock thought to himself. Since yesterday, he'd already been exposed to Daler's dreamland once during the ride to the hotel he had to stay in for the night, and he'd been throwing flaming donuts at people for a few years prior. Comic book bullshit like this was starting to get normal somehow.

"Looks like you were right," Brock said to Yasu. "I'm Brock, by the way. Brock Van de Vate. So, what'd you do to get sent here?", he continued, this time directing it to the others in their group.

Daler Ghumman

Right on schedule, the Institute shimmered into view. Daler had learned to see it for what it was years ago - a simple illusion, but the sheer amount of power needed to hide a place like that from so many people never ceased to impress him. He turned his thoughts back to his current companions. The golf cart had three more seats in it, so he'd be able to take everyone back the easy way if they wanted.

"So, shall we go inside? Feel free to hop in the cart if you'd like. Plenty of room," he said, this time using his voice. It felt a little bit more inviting to him than the usual intrusive telepathy.

Hmm, since Asa has healing powers, I think she's better suited to be the school nurse than Freyja.

I gotta edit my post then...

School nurse and assistant nurse? :D
@Azereiah
One of @tipssyCalibrator's characters is already a healer, so the niche might be filled.

Oh, hey!

I somehow managed to completely miss that aspect of Asa's powers. Whoops!
@Hammerman

Aye. I'm thinking that this is just the sort of character that people get shipped to when they find a hole in their chest or lose a limb, rather than for simple things like setting fractured or cleanly broken bones and treating burns. It's an extremely high stress job after all, and it takes so long to heal large areas of wounds that they'd have to clone themselves several times to take care of the Institute were they the head doctor/nurse. I tried to avoid stepping on Freyja's job where possible.

@tipssyCalibrator, care to chime in?
Here, an incomplete CS with an idea for a staff power. I'm pretty much full at three chars, so if someone can take this thing for me, that'd be great :D

If not, perhaps we can assume someone with this sort of power is already working at the Institute?

@13org
Whoa, that outfit is pretty scandalous for a teacher, don't you think?

That's why she's an intern
@azereiah
I could also see Leo taking advantage of Daler's skills, in order to work on his mental health aspects.

No problems there. I was thinking Daler would try to pick up Leo since, y'know, hearing voices and all. :P
