Bio

This is my second profile on here, and I have been Play-By-Post RPing for about nine years now. I do my best to see every RP to the end or at least let my character come to his/her own dramatic conclusion when I feel like signing off. Just like novel writing in real life, I tend to find myself on long hiatuses. Since writing is a great way to work out your brain, I try stay engaged as much as possible.

My favorite genres include futuristic worlds, mysteries, and super powers. Any mixture of these three elements will peek my interest.

Okay, it seems as though everyone may be able to understand how to keep track of their own points, stats, inventory, and so on. Therefore, I'm going to remove the official stats hider that is underneath each approved character in the opening OOC post. I'll let everyone keep track of their own points in a hider underneath each of their posts (as most of you have been doing) and within your own character sheets. I don't want to start a collaborative document, to prevent people from accidentally erasing or editing someone else's information.

I hope everyone has been keeping up with their own points. I'm going to erase the "official stats" sections tomorrow. From now on, I will only keep track of Creation Points and Creation Point related activities. People should PM me if they want to create content using CP.
@Dusksong We could keep the sunset and sunrise bonus points, but instead of gaining extra trainer points, you would gain extra creation points.

My reservation behind starting a collaborative document in order to keep this current system in place would be new players unknowingly messing up. The current system requires a lot of understanding before you know exactly how many points you get for doing what.

This new system would revolve around new content creation rather than items. I could however do one last tally of everyone's current trainer points. You may then convert those points to creation points at the ".25" rate or simply buy as many items as you would like, a clearance sell if you will.

@balthazar007 So... All TP are null and void? Could I suggest a simple conversion to CP (multiplied by .5 if need be, rounded up). A

Also, how would items be given to trainers here? Would all the other systems still stand (trainer rank, etc) and how would trainers obtain Pokeballs? Only through missions?

Since it was so easy to stack multiple bonuses for TP, and it is only one point per post when it comes to CP, I think that a .25 conversion rate rounded up would be more fitting.

Once a day (monthy IRL) you will be allowed to select free basic items from the Poke Mart, including Pokeballs. Organizations can also deal out daily (monthly IRL) items to it's members. Past that, you will need to complete missions in order to collect items.

All the old systems would stay in place, but there might be some modifications, such as adjustments to the requirements behind ranking up.
Okay,

So I'm going to have to find a more long term solution to keeping this RP up and running, one that doesn't rely on any individual to keep up with a lot of stats. My proposed solution is a triple threat plan (one solution that solves three problems at once).

I'm proposing that we do away with the trainer point system entirely, and expand on the concept of creating missions for one another. The only stat that I will have to keep track of from this point onward will be creation points. Now, I said that this would help on three fronts. Here they are:

1) Story building: I would rather not make a dramatic change, and then pretend that everything that we have done up to this point is somehow meaningless. Instead, I would like to give this change meaning, incorporate it into the plot of this RP. I'm proposing that the primary shareholder of Poke Corp has changed through a massive buyout. This new owner wishes to do away with the old system in favor of doling out items as rewards instead of products. This new owner will also be shrouded in mystery, because... come on, why not!?

2) More engaging: This new system will revolve around creation points and missions more heavily than in the past. You will still gain one creation point per post and be able to use these creation points to create characters, organizations, and locations. Obviously this will change the functions of things such as Poke Marts and Organizations, but it shouldn't take long to get used to.

3) Less burdening: This new system would require everyone to self moderate their own characters' item's and Pokedex. It would also place the responsibility of dealing out rewards to the people that create missions. When you complete a mission or some other requirement, you will earn a reward; you may then add that reward to your character sheet. My role as GM will simply be to track creation point accrual and approve of content created with these points. If anyone spots a user abusing this new honor system, PM me and I will investigate. If your claim is legitimate, the person will be banned.

What do you all think? This is my only solution to continue this thread in a way that I can realistically manage (and perhaps even find the time to participate as well). If anyone has another idea, I'm all ears.

Thanks!
@silver fox whoa the radiant bell and legendary crystal necklace... 0_0 can the effects stack? (Ie one of each and/or three bells --> +6TP each post??)

Balth cleared this, right? So... Mechanics...

Yes. These effects can stack. 6 TP per post is possible if you have these two items. I will however like everyone to be reasonable with the number of Pokemon that you use in one post. I'll set a three Pokemon per post limit if this becomes an issue.

Better, but I would still like if you would reevaluate these calculations. I've turned red anything that seemed off. For instance, you couldn't have made your first post this month as you already posted this November prior to page 14.
How about it? It's just that I agree with @dark light's point about it being weird that wild evolutions are... level 1...

Also, it only makes sense that wild pokemon should be the actual levels at which they evolve at... Or how do they evolve in the first place? I took a spin on the whole "Poke Corp changes level typing and simplifies/decreases levels so that they represent more" thing, but still...

The cost will be a burden on users, but it just doesn't make sense to me that someone could catch a Charizard in the wild at only level 1.

Further point to consider: if the cost is too much, maybe just let Pokemon get caught at half- or full-evolution level in the wild; there's already a higher cost associated with buying the Pokeball, and there's also level requirements barring them from catching Pokemon before they're "ready." Story-wise, maybe it makes more sense to have them at higher levels??

I thought I already ruled on this. If you catch a tier two Pokemon in the wild, it will be level 10. If you catch a tier three Pokemon in the wild, it will be level 20. I probably should up the price of Great and Ultra balls though, as you suggest.
This is what you want, right, @Balthazar007?

No, you seem to have accounted for ALL your posts in this RP. You are only supposed to count your stats from the "Start Page" to the "End Page". Now that page 18 has been started, you may move your "End Page" to include page 17.

Thanks!

@Silver Fox

looks good to me!
@Silver Fox

Well, it's not quite fixed really. By changing the total number of posts that you are getting credit for, you should also be changing the individual character points related to those posts.

I understand that this can be difficult over a mobile device. At the very least, you have put a note at the bottom of each of your posts. I'll manually do yours for you this time. In the future, you need to find away around this obstacle, I cannot physically do this for everyone.

Thanks!
