Bio

This is my second profile on here, and I have been Play-By-Post RPing for about nine years now. I do my best to see every RP to the end or at least let my character come to his/her own dramatic conclusion when I feel like signing off. Just like novel writing in real life, I tend to find myself on long hiatuses. Since writing is a great way to work out your brain, I try stay engaged as much as possible.

My favorite genres include futuristic worlds, mysteries, and super powers. Any mixture of these three elements will peek my interest.

Lester walked along a cobble stone path in the heart of a solemn city. The children played as they do today, blissfully unaware of the misery surrounding them. Accept in these times, life was not about keeping your television running. It was about keeping food on the table, plain and simple.

Butchers, farmers, and bakers sold their food by the bundle, auctioning off their items to anyone passing by. Tailors sat back behind windows offering glimpses into their shops. Guards patrolled the streets, keeping the peace (and order). Blacksmiths kept their doors open as they crafted their metal works.

It was more of the same. Like always, he pondered on taking up a new life as a blacksmith's apprentice, or maybe he would pretend to be a bank teller for a while. But these thoughts were pointless. He knew where he would end up.

The sounds of laughter peaked his interest first, then a bit of profanities. A clash and a bang could be heard just before two drunk men were both thrown out onto the streets. A small crowd gathered 'round as the two men got up, angry at each other and the man that stood in the pub's doorway, the man that had thrown them out. Unfortunately for the two of them, the man stood, obviously sober and resting one hand on a medium length saber.

Making a wise decision, the two men decided to turn on each other instead of confronting the pub's guard. After only a few unintelligible words, the men started beating on one another. The crowd cheered in excitement, like beasts in heat.

Lester only smiled as he worked his way around the edge of the crowd to the front door of the pub. The guard let Lester pass by, but not without a quick glance at the gold and violet ring wrapped around Lester's finger.

If Lester could find the owner of the establishment and make him a few drinks, he had no doubt that he would be employed immediately. But first, he had to navigate through this rather large pub to find said barkeep. Naturally, this led him up to the bar itself. He sat on a stool, casually looking around as he waited for a bartender. The pub was quite crowed for a Tuesday night, but not horribly.
I've set the stage within the IC. Anyone can put up the first post. I'll do my character's first post tonight or tomorrow night.

The day was February the 11th in the year 800, a random Tuesday by any means. The northern hemisphere was steeped in winter, while the southern enjoyed a blistering summer. Our story revolves around ten mysterious rings. As fate would have it, on this day, the rings would sit idly in the corner of history no more. They wanted to make themselves known once again. Would they be another catalyst for society? Or would they destroy another civilization? Only time would tell....

We now have 5 character sheets approved. Anyone that gets a character sheet approved from here on out can begin the IC writing as soon as they like. Chat OOC to collaborate with others or just start free writing.

Personally, I'm going to put up my first IC post tomorrow or the day after.

Thanks everyone!
Name: Lester Barman of Northumbria (a factual kingdom)
Age: 25
Occupation: Bartender
Ring: Violet

Appearance:

Biography:
Lester grew up in the city of York, located in the southern reaches of Northumbria. He never knew his mother, as she died shortly after giving birth to him, her first and only child. His father was a small time innkeeper, always struggling to pay the taxes. Father and son lived in one spare room within the inn. From a young age, Lester was put to work, first with cleaning chores, then with serving the patrons, and eventually slinging the drinks from behind the bar, along side his father.

By the age of nineteen, the small inn had risen to become a very respectable establishment, mostly due to Lester's ability to entertain bar guests. Life was looking on the up and up, until that fateful day...

One morning, Lester's father left to make his usual tax payments, but he did not return that evening as usual. Unable to do anything else, Lester went on doing his job, that day, that week, and a few weeks following. Then one morning, before open, a gang of men came knocking. They were nobles, looking for their tax payments. Lester tried to explain that his father had disappeared weeks prior on his way to pay them. He was unaware that the payment had never reached them and was unsure about the fate of his father. The men had no sympathy for the young man's situation. They proclaimed the building, and everything in it, state property. Lester was promptly kicked out onto the streets. He carried nothing more than small bag of clothing with one or two sentinmental trinkets hidden inside.

A nearby barkeep quickly snatched up the abandoned young man, offering him a position as a bartender there as well. For the next two years, Lester would stay at that pub living life much as he had before his father went missing. His same regulars came to visit him, and he made quite a bit of coin. But life was hallow now. His father was gone, and all the time he spent searching went completely to waste. Unable to stand this lifestyle that reminded him of the past, Lester decided to leave York.

For three years, Lester traveled aimlessly, from town to town. He searched for nothing more than a place to call home, somewhere that he felt safe. But in order to keep money in his pocket, the bartending profession kept pulling him back. From pub to pub, inn to inn, he stayed in no one town longer than a few months.

At his most recent establishment, Lester had a rather peculiar experience. A solitary man had quietly sat at the end of his bar. The man sipped on nothing but one or two weak ales. Lester tried to make conversation with the man, but he showed no interest in conversation. The man kept looking around as if he was waiting on someone. They never arrived.

At closing time, the man simply paid his tab and walked away. Lester chased the man down. He had given Lester far too many coins for such a small tab. The man only had two words for him, "Keep it." Lester had grown accustomed to big tippers, but this would be his best ever, nearly 10 times more than what the man had owed.

Later, as he was wiping down the bar, an expensive piece of jewelry caught his eye. It was violet ring, laid on the counter in front of were the man had sat.

Lester remained at this pub for nearly a month longer. He kept the abandoned ring in his pocket for safe keeping, in case man were to return. He would gladly give it back, but the man never returned. His words, "Keep it." kept running through Lester's mind. Was he also speaking of the ring when he said that? In any case, Lester's time was up. This too was not the town for him.

He now wanders the country side... with new accessory on his right hand.
@Balthazar007 You might want to change that "Join Status"
Gives others false hopes...

Thanks!
@Bishop

Funny! But sorry. There are only 10. 😂
Okay!

So now every single ring is spoken for. This RP is no longer accepting new writers, not until someone decides to drop out.

Also, I approve of both Brandon Deschnik by @Polaris North and Caitlin Flannigan by @Game Maker. BUT I did forget to put one quick line of info in your character sheet. Right under occupation, tell us exactly which ring you posses. Please and thank you!

Alright everyone, this RP can start IC posting as soon as 5 people have made a character sheet. Personally, I'm going to make mine tonight after work. Hope to see you all in the IC world soon!!

@rawkhawk64

You got it. I've updated the RP OOC opening post to reflect your joining. Glad to have ya on board.
