That was a weird name for a dog. They would have to shorten it because there was no way she was going to remember it. Just how much crack had the owner been on when she'd named the poor animal.
Catching the look on Jason's face Kat sighed inwardly. It was an odd situation. How exactly did she explain that it had been a one night stand without seeming like a slut?

Grace, now with another man in front of her and her little mind connecting the two, giggled and reached for Jason, babbling at him like she was trying to have a conversation. Kat wasn't about to tell her that wasn't her daddy. The child was probably confused and mommy was not going to make it worse.
The kissing between Nikki and the man she had just met caused Kat to raise an eyebrow. From the way Ethan and the other guy Tex reacted she could see the drama storm coming. Well she didn't want any part of that. If Ethan was jealous of the guy then he could go after Nikki if he wished. She wasn't going to stop him. As she made these resolves in her mind she tried to bury the stab of disappointment. What did she expect? For him to see her and Grace and suddenly turn into a fairytale prince who realized he loved her? Ridiculous. That old her was starting to surface again, the one who actually believed in such nonsence. Kat quickly hardened her heart once again, putting up the walls that had almost started to crack.

"Odd is an understatement," she replied to Jason just as quietly. Grace blew a raspberry as her input on the situation. Kat bounced her until she started to fuss again. Kat opened Grace's mouth to look at her gums. They were starting to swell. Teething would start soon. Wonderful. THAT was going to be fun.

Despite her earlier resolve a smile escaped when Jason held open the door for her. It was a very old school gentlemanly thing to do. Maybe chilvarly was not dead after all.
The window in the back was open and Kat held Grace to her shoulder so she could look out of it. Grace babbled in her baby language and tried to poke her head out when she saw legs through the window. She grasped at Jason's pant leg but it was out of her reach.
Kat could tell from Tex's expression that he was not looking forward to being trapped in the cab with a talkitive baby. He looked highly annoyed, either from the fight with Nikki or Grace babbling or maybe a combination of the two.

"Your love life is not my baby's fault so you are going to stop glaring around her right now or we are going to have a problem," Kat snapped.
Tex mumbled something she was sure was foul language before looking straight ahead out the windshield.

Kat glanced out of her window trying to catch a glimpse of Nikki. The girl seemed to know her own mind well enough and Lord knew she could take care of herself, but concern for a fellow female had Kat wanting to keep her in sight. This guy looked a lot older than her and who knew how much advantage he would take of her.

So I am going to try once again to make a mermaid rp, but this time I am going to try something a little different.
This time there are both mermaids and mermen. Romance? If you can find time for it during war. That's right : the merpeople are at war. The mermaids vs the mermen. The mermaids want to protect their territory (a series of small islands and reefs) and the mermen want it for their own. There are also humans living on these islands, which makes things even more difficult. Things have gotten drastic for both sides as both have lost quite a few numbers. In desperation the mermaids do something that has long been forbidden : turning select humans into merpeople. The mermen, after seeing this, have jumped on the bandwagon and are recruiting humans as well.

The females will have certain sea life and ocean birds on their side and some magic, while the males will have powerful weapons and incredible strength on theirs, plus some animals that they have tamed. Females have the ability to go on land while males do not. Males have the power of Alpha : coercing those of weak will to do their bidding. Females have the power of Song : calming even the most savage beast with their voices. And it's said if a merman and a mermaid fall in love, their offspring would be similar to a demi-god, able to control the powers of both. One such creature existed before and accumulated so much power both sides came together to destroy it. Afterwards it was decided by a counsel of both mermaids and mermen that the two sides should be separated, to keep something like this from happening again. For nearly a thousand years this agreement has held... until now...

RL sucks. I have a warning in my sig of what's going on as far as I know. So if I disappear for a while it's due to the move and that. I would like to still be apart of this thread when I get back if that is alright.

Kat looked up when she heard the men approaching. "Thank God," she said aloud and stood, picking up Grace and settling her on her hip.
Jason approached her first. She smiled a bit at his concern. "Thanks. You too. Try not to do that again okay? In this world heroes usually end up dead."
That was Kat-speak for 'I was worried about you'.
It was nice that he had done something to save their lives, but not if the cost was his own. Kat would never admit it out loud, but of all the people she had met so far in this crazy mixed up group, Jason was one that she actually liked. And considering her personality that was saying something. The guy was either REALLY good or REALLY lucky.

Ethan came up soon after, once Nikki got done hugging him tightly. It gave Kat a twinge of jealousy, but not for what you might think. Nikki was so relieved to see Ethan alive and unharmed the joy was plain on her face. Deep down, that was something that Kat had always wanted for herself : to have someone care about her, not because she was a mother or out of a sense of duty, but because they genuinely deeply cared...

Kat was surprised when he asked to hold Grace. "You never have to ask Ethan," she said quietly. "She's your child. I would never keep her from you."It actually warmed her heart to see him interact with her. Grace smiled that wonderful sunny smile of hers, like she knew automatically that Ethan was her daddy. When he handed her back rather quickly Kat wondered if it was because they needed to get going or if he was comfortable with being a father. It wouldn't be surprising if he wasn't yet. Finding out something like this had to take time to sink in and accept. If she had known anything about him or where to find him Kat would have let him know about Grace sooner.

Speaking of Grace, she started fussing to be let down. Kat stood over her as she crawled around a bit. She babbled at people, hoping someone would give her attention. The baby wasn't even a year old and she already loved being the center of attention.
Keeping near to Grace, Kat spoke to Jason. "We lost the dog's owner back at the house. I guess he's taken to us now. Don't know his name though."

I have had plenty of panic attacks in my short life time (only 18). I feel disoriented I get tunnel vision and like you I can't breath. When someone touches me I actually get worse but I don't want to be alone because I fear I may faint or my vision will go completely. It has happened before I don't know if it has happened to anyone else. I am still working on it the best thing for me personally to do is just to get up and walk and give me 15 minute to breath a calm down

Other than that how was Everyone's day?

my rant for those who are interested

Sometimes I wish there was a way for people who have never had a panic attack to experience one. That way they would know that I can't "just calm down" and I can't "just breathe". It's not that I WON'T. It's that I CAN'T. CAN'T. I am physically incapable of breathing, calming down or stopping the tears from flowing. I am incapable of "not stressing about things so much" and "looking at the bright side" or "thinking of something else".

A panic attack is painful, scary and once it starts it cannot be turned off like a light switch. The best way you can help someone having a panic attack is to get them somewhere quiet and let them know everything is okay, sometimes reassuring them multiple times. Patting the back or shoulders is okay, but hugs are not going to help because they make me feel constricted when I already feel like I can't breathe.

Now to work on my post!
