Name: John Victor Faceur

Age: 34

Gender: Male

Appearance:

Used to stand a measly 5 foot 6 inches tall. But since augmentation, enhancement and training, has put on a extra foot. Under the helmet and around the removed parts of his skull and flesh are strands of dark red hair. The starting of a beard are in evidence as his time in training and augmentation has made it very hard to catch the time to shave. Very little of his lighter frame remains. Skin and cybernetics clearly show in some places, where his limbs were removed and replaced with the powerful steel and circuitry and wiring that makes him a Nightmare. Biological circuits wind their way up his body from his limbs, connecting them to the central node at the back of his neck, and leading into the central control unit inside his head. Despite all of his cunning brown eyes look out at everything around him, he has lost none of his intelligence despite everything he's been through.

Former Occupation: Politician, Holds distinction as the man who was the deciding vote to pass the Nightmare Protocol

Mode of Operation: Riflemen focus, with a Close Combat secondary role

History:

Dear fucking god what have I done to myself?

Used to sit on the United Front government council. I was at the forefront of the movement within the governing body to help us in this war. Not win it, the Faithful and the United Front have been at each others throats for centuries. At this point, just stopping the march of The Word is our biggest goal. Forget fucking winning the war. We just need to stop The Word. And the Nightmares are the way we're going to do that.

When the idea of the Nightmare Protocol was first brought forth, lots of people thought it was just a pipe dream. The idea of the Nightmares, cybernetic, physical cyborgs, loyal to the Front, unable to be turned by The Word. It sounded like fairy tales. The technology wasn't even there yet. Sure we could provide robot like prosthetics to wounded soldiers, but we didn't have the ability to remove limbs and replace them with usable limbs that were lights years stronger then the originals. But as time went on, and we saw we could do these things. I began to see the need for this to happen. It's our saving grace. This could help us get a foot forward.

So when we won the vote. I was one of the many to volunteer. I handed in my resignation as a councilor, and volunteered to the Nightmare Protocol. It was hard, damn it was hard. I did things I never figured I could do. But soon, boom, they had made a soldier out of me. Then, they made a Nightmare out of me. They took my arms, part of my brain, my legs, my eyes, ears and nose. And soon I could see, hear, smell things like never before. I could jump three stories with ease, climb sheer surfaces, and race aloing the grounds at speeds that should be impossible for a normal person. But I wasn't a normal person anymore. Going out on leave, I could see it in the eyes of the people. I was beyond human now. I truly am a Nightmare.

Loadout:

Battle rifle: .50 calibre selective fire rifle with a 3x power integrated scope, that can be wired to his eyes to reach 50x power scope. Full auto, burst, and semi-auto fire selections. 50 round magazine, 7 carried

Sidearm: burst fire combat pistol, firing .45 calibre pistol rounds. Integrated red dot collimator sight, with under barrel combat blade. 30 round bar magazines, 4 carried.

Arm sheathed 15 inch combat blades.
And here is my character.
There have always been two sides. The United Front, and the Faithful.

The United Front made up of all the nations and countries that valued an open approach to government and to people's rights. A man could opt to pursue a political career no matter where he came from. A woman could climb her way up from the dregs of society to become a powerful media mogul, and a any child could work to become the CEO of the biggest multi-national company in the Front. Freedom, liberty, and the ability to become whatever you wanted. Free healthcare and education to all that might want it. The United Front didn't control, they helped everyone and anyone under their flag.

The Faithful. Made up dozens of nations, where freedom is something that comes only to a rare few. No man, woman or child is totally free to take charge of their own destiny. All are subject to the will of the Temple and the Clergy. Only the Clergy is truly free. Money, food, water, fuel and even energy is strictly controlled by the Temple. Sent out to only those that are believed to need it the most. All the rest must earn these things. Only Shelter is free to the people, in Temple owned barracks. And all are subject to the word of the Clergy. Entire families can be ripped apart if the Clergy believes the man power of family is better used in differant places. A son can be sent to the farthest reaches of the Faithful nations if it is believed he can do better good there, and he has no say in the matter.

The United Front gave freely, while the people of the Faith were kept under an iron thumb. Is it no surprise that both sides believed themselves to be superior to the other? Is it still no surprise that they would confront each other over it?

Where the United Front could raise armies with modern weapons and the most modern equipment, the Faithful could raise Hordes, with any weapon that their disposal. It was modern power against the weight of numbers. And somehow this kept both sides at a stalemate.

For years, decades, centuries, this is how the war between the two sides went. Neither side able to keep the other on the back foot for long.

And then the Faith found a new way. A Temple scientist produced, "The Word" a powerful weapon that literally took the free will of entire cities away from them and converted them right then and their to the Faith. The United Front was soon on the back foot. As the people they meant to protect would suddenly attack them from behind. They started to retreat, escaping the farthest reaches of their land to keep ahead of the rising tide of the Faithful's Word powered mobs.

In answer, the United Front created "The Nightmare Protocol".

Cybernetically enhanced soldiers, loyal and deadly, surgically and physically enhanced, and unable to be turned against the Front. These men and women became the deep forward line of the Front to push back the hordes of common and brainwashed Faithful. To the Faithful, these deadly, shadowy and physically enhanced soldiers were known as a simple word, "Nightmares". To learn there is a squad of them in their cities is to know fear, and to dread the night.

Nightmares are all cybernetically and physically enhanced. Entire arms, legs have been removed and fitted with superior steel and circuitry. Most Nightmares get standard enhancements. Legs that can allow them to run in excess of 100 kilometers per hour. And to jump heights maxing out at 15 to 18 feet. Arms capable of punching through 6 feet of reinforced concrete, lifting upwards of 30 tons, and with the capabilty to dig fingers into hardened steel.

But some Nightmares will opt for more customized enhancements as well. Replacing lungs, eyes and parts of their mind to make them snipers unparralelled. Able to see at distances upto 10 kilometers with crystal clear clarity. Auto-zoom features in the eyes up too 50x the norm. Able to hold their breath to steady their rifle for 45 minutes at a time.

Others might opt for integral close combat enhancements. Arms, legs and feet with hidden blades or integrated close range firearms. High calibre pistols that can be drawn right out of their arms in a flash. Or high strength, mono-filament edge combat blades that sheath or unsheath out of their forearms.

Still others might go for experimental thermo-optic-audio camouflage enhancements that can render them almost completely invisible to the human and mechanical eye and ear. Literally bending light, and sound around them, and able to appear almost everywhere.

Every Nightmare is given a basic kit of a high calibre, selective fire combat rifle that can be used mid to long range. Many can opt for close to mid range assault kits that have an automatic shotgun and dual high rate of fire PDWs. The marksmen can swap their kit out for super power prototype rail gun kits, single shot weapons, that are accurate upto 1000 meters, and can still hit a human sized target out to 5 kilometers.

The Nightmares have the capability, but they are still human in a sense. A spray of bullets can still kill them, and a mob can still bare them down under numbers and rip them to pieces. But the Nightmares have all the things they need to succeed, IF they can utilize their team and their equipment to do so.

Yes it's just a rehash of what I put down in the IntChk, but why try and recreate the wheel?

I'll have my own character up soon. Still hammering out my own deal.
Alright.

I need to take care of some RL stuff for the next hour or 3, but I will have an OOC up this evening, within the next 6 or so hours I think. So look for it. I'll post a link here when it's ready.
Well.

I know Hawlin is in, I'm not sure about Free.

I don't want to go ahead without atleast 3 people. Myself included. If there is no more interest for this, we might be able to try this as a one on one Hawlin.

I'll give this another few hours. See if there is anymore concrete interest.
I'm just curious, can you two commit? If you think right now that you can't see the RP through too atleast the 6th page and beyond. And are going to decide to drop out before then, please say so now.

I'm tired of my perfectly good ideas falling short because someone decides the RP isn't for them after a few posts and just leaves.
No I'm not a fan either.

At the moment all I have is:

This format may change, but that's what I've got so far.

I'm also thinking of making the RP episodic. This means, each mission they go on, is one seperate section of the RP, with small rest periods between each mission. Or the potential of being rushed right into a new mission episode right out the gate from the last one. Still each mission will be a seperate entity from each other, so there is a real chance that loadout can change between those missions.
Yes we will be playing as a squad of Nightmares.

To elaborate.

This can either be a one on one, or a 3 or 4 person RP. I'm not sure yet which would be more interesting.

But now for my customary small RP introduction.

There have always been two sides. The United Front, and the Faithful.

I'm going to see how much interest this garners.
Carl sat on the opposite side of the chopper from his partner. First Responders, they hadn't been put on rescue detail in awhile. It's nice to be something other then first in, first out kinda deal. He peered out the chopper, watching the trees and rocks whip past them. He grinned a little as the crew chief called them insane. He chuckled a little, looking to Ross as the other heavily armored man set him straight. The Canadian couldn't help chiming in, "We're meant to be doing the stupid shit that others wouldn't think of doing anyway. Where a team of six or more would be hard pressed to try and take an objective on their lonesome, we're sent in because we can. Two men, who can do the impossible like it's just another day at the office."

Carl nodded to Ross as Ross gave him a look. He brought up his shotgun, slapping some rounds into it then holstered it on his back, and quickly locked and loaded his M249 as well. He cinched his gear in tight, then gave his head a fierce nod, clicking down his own newly modified NVG gear. What was once a left side monocle, is now a tri-cloptic headset with a adaptable optics. Giving him NV, FLIR and Backscatter xray imaging. Unfortunately the xray imaging only had an eight meter gain, so it's not like he could see into entire houses with it yet. As the chopper came down, Carl unbelted himself and swung his legs out of the chopper. He landed lightly. And moved a few steps away from the heli to clear the LZ. He scanned the area, his shotgun in his hands. He scanned about, then as the chopper lifted out again he took some steps back and joined his partners side. Then the pair set off. He holstered his shotgun and brought out his LMG. He carefully scanned his lines as they went.

He saw the lights coming too almost as soon as Ross did. Ross dove in behind a log. Carl ghosted over and knelt down behind a bank of snow and deadfall. He peered just over top of it. His triclops headset peering out, "Yeah I see four too." He reached down and cinched his LMG tight. He unclipped his Browning holster from it's chest position and transfered it to his hip. He then lowered the safety clip to keep it on there and opened the quick draw holder. He also drew his own combat knife.

It was over so quickly. Ross moved in and dropped the first man. Carl came snaking out of his own cover, and took two out quickly. Pistol whipping one man so hard that he did 3 twists before he hit the ground, his neck making a very painful cracking sound before he hit the ground. The other man ended with a brutal throat slash. The last man spun around and looked between the two heavily armored soldiers he's now stuck between. He swung his rifle back and forth between them. Carl pulled the knife out from the second man. At the same time sliding his pistol back into it's holster. He smiled, "Let's make this fair. Lower the gun, I'll give you a chance." The man panted and did as he's told, not sure where this is going.

Carl stood tall and pushed his visor up, "You know, one shot here." He tapped his forehead, "Will end me. But the way I see it, one shot anywhere will end you. So let's make this fair. One shot each. You land the killing blow and you have a chance, and I land it, we walk." The man saw where this is going now, a duel, just him and the man, he could make a name for himself if he could take down one of these Juggernauts as he recognized them now. There being a bounty out for them, half a million on their heads, a cold million for the person who brought in both of their heads. He saw he might have a chance of atleast bringing in one of them if he could take the smaller one down and get away with some show of his triumph.

Carl and the man faced each other. Carl motioned for Ross to stay out of this. He looked at the AQ soldier, straight in the eye, seeing the man's fear and elation. The AQ soldier looked right back at Carl and saw only steely determination in the big man. Neither moved, just waiting for that right moment. Carl's hand rested lightly just in front of the butt of his Browning. The AQ soldier held his rifle by his side. A gust of wind kicked up some snow, for a brief moment obscuring the pair of duelists from each other. Neither took that chance, they didn't want to win that way. The snow cleared. Carl smiled at the AQ soldier who swallowed back in fear. Carl tensed, the AW soldier tensed.

A pair of shots rang out in the night.

Carl sighed. His Browning pistol butt pressed against his left palm, his right hand gripping the grip, the muzzle pointed towards the dead AW soldier, a coil of smoke drifting from the muzzle, and a perfect shot right in the heart on the AQ soldiers dead body. Blood staining the snow red. A rifle round lodged in Carl's chest armor, "Drew too slow, and fired too early. Poor Bastard." Carl pushed his Browning away and rolled his shoulders. Smiling at Ross with a shit eatting grin on his face, "Shall we go?"
