Bio

Just a small, fragile birdboy with a huge beak. I used to be Manapool, but we don't talk about those days. I have been here a while if you couldn't tell.

In all honesty, I am 25 and in a committed relationship outside of roleplay. I work as a cook who works nights. I'm a big fan of seeing people's food they make and learning about new foods if you ever want to share. I enjoy tabletop games, card games, and video games as well as reading comics in my spare time. Your typical nerd, you might even find me at conventions!

Most of the time I stick to Superhero groups and Play by post D&D here. I have admittedly begun taking far fewer rps. I prefer Fantasy and Superheroes as a genre but I find myself more and more interested in interested in Sci-fi settings too! My main fandoms are Fallout, Kenshi, and Marvel but I have a lot of niche interests like Hylics, Neopets, and Monster High. Do you have a strange fandom you want to rp? I am the kind to at least take a look at the source material!

These days I am closer to a low to mid Casual roleplayer. I want at least a paragraph from replies and don't mind dipping lower than casual if it fits the flow better. I am capable of writing decent long posts but expect me to take eons to reply. I also must warn you that I tend to lose a lot of steam in the winter months.

Sorry was just dreading remaking this because it's a lot

Name: Xavier Sloan
Alias: Detective Sloan/Heirophant
Age: 36
Personality: Exhausted, calloused, pessimistic, methodical, practical
Archetype: Mystic
Powers:
All of Xavier's powers are based on consuming food and drink. Depending on the amount and the flavors of the food and drink he consumed his powers change drastically. While he himself has a very well-put-together list of every food that causes what, here is a simplified list for the convenience of roleplay:

Mediumship: After eating any food, for the next hour or two, Xavier will see the ghost of those who have not yet passed on. This is usually limited to those who have died recently or those with unresolved business or are otherwise stuck by esoteric means. These dead will appear to him the way their body currently is, and if there is no longer a body to appear as they are merely a voice, a whisper at that. Xavier is also capable of seeing mystical beings hidden by magical means while this power is active. Xavier always keeps a candy bar on him in case he needs to activate the power.

Mind reading: After drinking dark coffee, eating dark chocolate, or other very bitter foods, Xavier gains a very limited ability to see the thoughts and memories of those within their eyesight for roughly a minute. People with mental fortifications or attempting to block his mind reading actively can easily stop him. This power allows him to see picture-perfect memories people have, see their current thoughts and also gives him the ability to see memories someone has suppressed or that have been modified.

Astral Projection: One of the harder powers for Xavier to activate, this one requires very floral flavors or musk-flavored foods. Rose is the most likely candidate for this power, and even then it can be faulty. The power lasts for up to thirty minutes, but usually only last ten or so. When astral projecting, Xavier's body goes limp and is entirely unresponsive. His mind is able to see up to 100 miles away, see through any material except led, and allows him to do so completely undetected except by magical means. When projecting, Xavier has extremely limited ability to interact with the world, only able to move small objects slightly, like a ghost might!

Weaknesses: Xavier has no training in combat, and with no powers to help him fight, he isn't much help dealing with anything below a street level threat. Even then, he's as useful as any other cop on the block. Furthermore, magical and esoteric defenses and barriers stop his astral projection and mind-reading abilities, further limiting his capabilities. Finally, seeing the dead after every meal is a blessing and a curse, as they can be very distracting!

Former Team Affiliation: N/A
Background Hero: The Elongated Man!
Appearance: WIP
Potential Storylines:
The Ghost who sees Ghost: After using his astral projection ability to spy on an enemy of the Justice League, Xavier finds his soul trapped outside of his body. With his friends in mortal danger, he must find a way to warn them while he can't interact properly.

Don't fear the Spectre: The spectre attacks a member of the Justice League, claiming they've done something profain. After a other heroes plead for them not to kill them and a small fight breaks out, Spectre agrees to let the heroes have 24 hours to prove the innocence of the Justice league member in question.

Hush-hush: Hush has killed and replaced a member of the Justice League, and only Xavier knows after the ghost of the newly killed hero tells him. Now Xavier must prove to the others that Hush is not who he claims to be.

Occult awakening: After retrieving Dr. Occult's amulet, Xavier awakens new powers from touching the amulet. These powers become so useful that Xavier attempts to steal the amulet to covet for himself.

BRIEF Bio: Since he was a child, Xavier could see the dead. People didn't believe him and his family did everything they could to keep him quiet. They tried for years to get the proper medication to help him deal with his 'hallucinations'. This all end when Xavier brings the police to the corpse of recently killed women and explains vividly how she died. This was one of a few murders he would go on to help solve as a child. Eventually, his family relented and accepted his 'gift'. Xavier, however, was haunted by the horrible things he had seen and heard. Traumatized but feeling a need to give closure and justice to those wronged, Xavier took it upon himself to become a policemen and work his way up to being a detective.

Unfortunately, the police were far less accepting of his powers, and after multiple cases went cold because of corruption and a lack of evidence, he found himself disenfranchised with the police force. Instead, Xavier became a private detective who takes justice into his own hands when needed.

Sample Post: W.I.P.

I have two other ideas if this one seems too similar to the others in terms of personality! Let me know!
What's the worth?
Fuck the universe till it hurts
I'm not use to these kind of mental health issues
I just want to live in a church
And find peace! Upon my brain
Jesus please just stop the pain
I know you think it's just a game
but it's not

Now let watch me walk away
@Lurking Krog Probably something the dm will have to tell us whether they care about us doing this or not, but I will gladly pitch in
1 bottle of the good stuff? Then we can get a bunch of cheap booze too.
I apologize for trying to move things along. Rala is just not much for sticking around too long, and he's using this urgency to keep from worrying about the bigger picture.
Welcome to the guild, mate. We have a menagerie of different rps always going on. I am sure you'll find someone who likes any ideas you have. Hopefully you'll like some ideas that are had here as well.
I think the character I just wrote up didn't send... Big sad
Nice to meet ya, pink! Stick around I promise we don't stink!
For a brief moment, Elena was relieved as the drag queen's sour expression faded. A weight lifted from her shoulders as she felt the ire in their eyes fade. Then, the man who she had just met began to defend her. Part of her wanted to agree with him. Oscar had every right to enjoy the show as everyone else there. Elena did not want to ruin the show, though, and the scene they where making was only causing more problems. Fae Rae had begun snapping at the White haired boy, and seeming to remain unaware of the battle commencing behind her. Oliver seemed to try to set them back on track, and having learned his name Elena couldn't help but smile at his earnestness.

The other boy in the crowd seemed a little less eager to explain himself, but she was happy to meet another trainer. Maybe they could help her catch more pokemon after this. At the very least, he might be able to teach her how to train her Trubbish better. Oliver being a scientist was very interesting too, perhaps he would know if the professor here had any pokemon left. Likely not, knowing her luck. Now, it was her turn to introduce herself. She hardly knew what to say, as Elena didn't see much of merit to mention to these strangers.

"I'm Elena, nice to meet you all, but uh..." She answered briskly, before motioning to the fight in progress. Two dog-like pokemon where currently rough housing, sending lightning crackling and fire flaring. Elena's eyes glistened with amazement. This was how real pokemon fights must look. So far, she hadn't had a chance to use her pokemon in a battle.
"Should we stop them?" She asked genuinely. Truthfully, she was curious which one would win, but there had been enough interruptions.
Superheroes. We all know the concept, the eternal struggle of good and evil trapped in leather catsuits or tights. Your mind may wander to near-invincible paragons flying through the sky's, or devious monstrosities plotting nefarious acts. But for every caped crusader, there is a D-lister.

The bottom of the barrel. The heroes and villains whose exploits get ignored. D-listers know what they are, they don't get to be Spider-Man, they get to be a spider with a human's brain. You aren't doc oct, you're Doctor Dolphin. Often times these characters' abilities are 'mediocre' at best, but usually end up being too situational or underwhelming to compete with the real heroes.

There is a place where D-listers go when they crave to rise through the ranks, to make a name for themselves. Long-time D-lister and criminal not-so-mastermind Dr. Indrid Cold created an online organization to conduct battles amongst D-listers. These are no hold's barred competitions, often to the death which are recorded for sport. Winners gain claim to anything of the loser's gear and the reputation for defeating their foe. Cold gains a killing from the bets placed, heroes and villains increase their experience and arsenal, and the eternal struggle continues.

This is an idea I've had for a while now. Basically, bring a super hero/super villian OC or an actual canon character to bring to a match, we roleplay the match, and to the victor go the spoils. Matches can be 1v1 or 2v2, and whoever wins a coin flip gets to pick the location. Each player can have up to 3 characters at a time, but try to stick to street level or lower characters. Any stronger than that requires lots of weaknesses.
