Background
House Tully are one of the Great Houses of Westeros, ruling over the Riverlands from their seat at Riverrun. An old noble house of First Men origin, the lineage of House Tully can be traced back as far as the Age of Heroes. The Tullys gained dominion over the Riverlands after Lord Edmyn Tully rebelled against King Harren the Black, siding with Aegon the Conqueror, and have ruled ever since. The Riverlands itself is a rich, fertile and populous region around the three forks of the River Trident, and due to its central location it has been frequently been used as a battleground. Surrounded by the notoriously quarrelsome Riverlords, House Tully has often sought alliances with neighbouring regions for security.
Military Strength and Economy
The Riverlands are rich and fertile, and the numerous rivers running throughout are exceptionally useful for trading and transporting goods from one place to another. Fisherman and merchants travel along the rivers, and villagers bring their goods to the rivers to be sold to merchants and transported elsewhere. The Riverlands are also populous, and are estimated to be able to field some 45,000 men. However, the divisions between the Riverlords often hinders the strength of the Riverlands army and hinders them in the field, which is the reason why historically Riverlands armies have numbered far fewer
